19. If you were teaching this course: a. What would you do to improve it? b. What would you change?
nothing
I would not change a thing. He is asome!
nothing
a. Nothing everything was good. b. Nothing.
more hands on less leturing and notes
Nothing!
I would change nothing. Dan is the most passionate and intelligent instructor I have ever had.
maybe less of the videos, they weren't that great. also maybe talk about some of the important existentialist philosophers more such as Kierkegaard
I think the videos needed to be updated but he did mention that there weren't any good ones available.
Encourage students to participate more in class.
I wouldn't change a thing
This course with Mr. Petersen has been an awesome experience. Complete continuity, excellent teaching strategies, very motivating, and total clarity of cultural views. I am honored to have had the oppertunity to explore this field of study here with him.
Mr. Peterson did the best job
It would be pretty hard to improve on Mr Peterson's teaching method. He does an amazing job.
not a lot really, I liked the information, the only thing I would have changed about the synopsis is putting the chapter names in there too. I had a little confusion on that.
The biggest problem for the kona side was trying to get the notes. If the teacher could e-mail the notes or leave more time to copy them it would be good. Whenever a hilo student makes a comment the notes are lost. Maybe the teacher could repeat the quest
Take less notes during class.
20. What do you think of the teacher and his/her teaching methods?
great
This profesor is wonderful and funny, he made the subject come to life.
the teacher is a great person
His teaching methods was good.
good but frustrating at the same time
Fantastic!
Dan's teaching methods are extremely effective and engaging.
Great lecturer, good discussions about philosophy, especially existentialism
Mr. Petersen is an excellent instructor, he just talks fast sometimes, but he gives you ample time to get all the notes. I think he talks fast because he is passionate about philosophy. He is very knowledgeable in what he teaches.
it worked very well, very interesting speaker and easy to follow ideas
They were OK, but sometimes a little too fast.
I enjoy the teacher as well as his methods. Very effective at getting a topic across in an understandable manner. Even difficult topics.
This course has been an awesome experience. Complete continuity, excellent teaching strategies, very motivating and with total clarity of instruction. I am very honored to have had the oppertunity to study with this teacher and hope to explore other field
FANTASTIC
Mr Peterson's teaching method is brilliant. He teaches in a way everyone can grasp. When he lectures, he uses all three methods in which people learn; verbal, written, and visual. This is a great method, and I was very impressed.
Well organized and fast paced
He was great. I didn't always agree with his views, but he was fun and puts things in perspective as to how to understand certain ideas in 'layman's terms' which is great.
Great teacher. This is one of the only classes I could find engaging via vid-con.
His methods of teaching are very good.
21. Has he/she contributed to your general knowledge or to learning job skills?
yeas
yes
Yes
Learning jobs skill no but yes if I were going to be come a philosopher and not a marketing major
Yes he did!
Very much.
great practice writing expository essays
yes he promoted critical thinking on a deeper level of self-reflection
Yes, I strongly agree.
Definitely.
Absolutely,I believe that many teachers here have very decorative credientals in which backgrounds they specialize in. Unfortunately, not all have the ability to teach their knowledge and apply their understandings very well. This teacher clearly has what
He surely did.
Well Mr. Peterson's class has contributed to more than learning about job skills, he has contributed to my general knowledge about LIFE.
Definitely
what I learned will help me in all areas of my life not just at work
yes
Yes, he has.
22. Other comments:
If you wanna feel special go to KTA!
Outstanding job Dan.
Just try to respect other people's perspectives. sometimes.
Great teaching, Learned alot.
As much as I think Mr. Petersen, handsome person is a wonderful teacher, and person. I am sometimes weary of his opinions. His intellect is way too superior and can somewhat make me feel intimidating. But I like who I am and by that I am well able to over
You cannot lie to yourself and believe in your own lies.
I never missed a day of class, Thats how great this class was.
I chose philosophy as my major because of how handsome Dan is.

19. If you were teaching this course: a. What would you do to improve it? b. What would you change?
Nothing, Dan really want students to understand logic and he even is available on Saturdays for tutoring. And we can call him at home w/any questions about logic
SLOW DOWN!!!! The teacher has been in Logic for years versus someone who knows nothing about it. There are people that might learn at a slower pace than others and that should not hurt them just because the teacher wants to meet a deadline.
practice quizzes throughout the semester to prepare students for the real thing at the end of the semester
Nothing at all.
I would change the pace of the course. There is so much to learn and retain in order to successfully master the course that I felt that I wasn't totally grasping everything, most of it but not all of it. I would also like to have more group exercises in
slow down a little
nothing
Slower pace to ensure understanding of complicated key information.
Assign group work more often.
Instructor very willing to help students at any time. Provided home phone number also.
Nothing the class was hard but fun and interesting at the same time
taking things slower, explian more
I would do a class review before the midterm and final so that everyone would have an idea of which areas they need to work on to do well.
20. What do you think of the teacher and his/her teaching methods?
Wonderful
Very passionate about his job and the students learning the material but needs to understand that not everyone can move at his pace.
the teacher was more then kind and generous with his time and his method of teaching was at first very shocking and spiritually rude at times but it got the point across
Awesome. In your face attitude, and pressure are two things I personally look for in a teacher.
first I would like to say that I admire Mr. Petersens passion for what he does. I don't think I have ever met someone as passionate about their work as Mr. Petersen. Second, Mr. Petersen gave much of his off time to help those who needed more individual
it's okay just really fast
I think he is an awesome mentor and teacher. I think that the amount of time he gives to his students is outstanding and that more teachers should be like him, willing to give of their time to help the student.
Real and filled with passion.
Great teacher. More than willing to help all his students succeed.
His teaching mothods were good I could understand what he was teaching about
Very encouraging teacher. He makes it well known that the most important thing is learning the material and how essential it is for the future.
overall its good
I think that his methods were simple and concise and that he made clear what we needed to understand.
21. Has he/she contributed to your general knowledge or to learning job skills?
Yes
Yes
100% with out a doubt this course and the teacher has inhanced my learning and job skills..I see the world now with a new pair of eyes
Yes.
Most deffinetly
yes
Yes.
Learn skills to apply in life situations and relationships.
Yes.
Yup
Very very very much so.
yes
Yes, I would say that he has made me more aware of how logic can be applied in daily life.
22. Other comments:
I wish I would have taken this class along time ago
keep up the good work mr. p, thanks to you and logic i can know go on to bigger and better things...see i was listening!
Thanks for the encouragement.
Thank you Mr. Petersen
Instructor was very passionate and real with all students. Shocking at times, but he knew the topics and expressed applications to the real world and academic life situations.
More courses should be offered with HITS.
None class was fun and yet hard, I feel so much smarter!!!!
Thank you for a great semester!
Enjoyed this class, reccomend this instructor if you are comfortable learning at a fairly fast pace and are dedicated to do the work. You will learn a lot.
