15. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Professor Jackie was extremely helpful! She always listened to everything we had to say and if we had a problem she would tackle it right away. She knew all of her topics really well and it was nice to hear personal experience, especially in the field of social work! She made class very interesting and I loved all the guest speakers. Overall this introductory course was amazing and very informative!
She was definitely knowledgeable and passionate about her field, but her communication skills definitely needed some work. She told us not to really worry about the midterm, that it wasn't going to be a surprise, but in actually, almost all of it was straight memorization from the textbook. She also did not communicate well about due dates, and about class dates we had off.
good. She was a fair and interesting professor.
Very positive. I had a great experience learning for this professor and would love to take any other class she offers.
SHE IS A GREAT TEACHER THAT INTRODUCED ME TO ALOT OF THINGS THAT I DIDN'T KNOW. I ENJOYED THE SPEAKERS THAT SHE BOUGHT IN IT REALLY OPENED UP DOORS THAT I NEVER KNEW EXISTED.
She is a fine instructor that is passionate about what she does in her life. She is also passionate about helping others. It shows through her personality and the way she teaches.
She feels very strongly about the subject matter. It helps me be enthusiastic about it too.
understanding and good teacher. example of a social worker
This course was really great. I learned alot and the proffesor knew alot and taught very well.
the professor had a lot of knowledge about the topics of the course she made it interesting by giving us different types of assignments throughout the semester she really made me think about the topics in class. now I'm positive i want to be a social worker. it was also easy to communicate with her outside of class. One of my favorite professors so far here at UH
Awsome!! I absolutely loved this course and the professor was very good. I always find it so much better when a professor has actually been working in the field before teaching because then we get a much better understanding and we have the opportunity to learn first hand about the subject- in this case, social work. She also invited a variety of other types of social workers which was an amazing opportunity to come to class and be able to hear experiences from so many unique individuals. Instructor was also very understanding to students and I enjoyed going to class and learning what she had to offer. She was a genuine teacher who loved what she was doing and I would take her again in a heartbeat!
AWESOME!!!!!
very professional. Her passion comes across in every class session, which in turns motivate the students to think about the subject matter.
Very inspiring and passionate about course subject.
I believe that Jackie showed a genuine interest in helping us to understand more about social work. I am currently in the BSW program and her class showed me what I should expect in the following semesters. I loved going to class and learning new material and also interested to hear about her personal stories. She is a very personal instructor who shows that she cares about her profession.
I can see your passion in your lectures.
Very enthusiastic, intelligent and well experienced about the material.
It was a learning experience to watch someone lecture on something she is so passionate about. I hope one day I will find my passion about a focused area! Jackie upholds excellence in all she does and she is a wonderful example and a beacon of light for the field of social work. Thank-you Jackie!
Jackie was a wonderful teacher. She was always enthusiastic about material and presented it in a way that inspired us to think. The only criticism I have is I would have like a little more specificity on how detailed the midterm was going to be.
The instructor was very passionate about her profession. I appreciated her enthusiasm and her clarity.
Very knowledgeable of the subject matter and helpful in guiding the class to gain an overall understanding of a career in Social Work. Jackie made the class enjoyable and interesting. It is clear that she is passionate about her work and truly compassionate as a person.
Good.

22. My overall evaluation of this course is...
This introductory course really made me interested in social work and I really wanted to know more. Professor Jackie was very fair in her grading process and it was nice to do something different in class besides lectures. Hearing real life experiences of social workers and learning what we can do to make society better.
I definitely did not learn a lot. I still have no idea how a social worker would get involved in certain situations, or what they would do to improve those situations. I came in very interested in social work as a possible career and came out not wanting to do it at all. Also, I have some problems about the major assignments we have due. We have a major presentation and a major paper due within a week of each other at the very end of the semester (which is also when we have all our other finals and papers to be doing!), both of which are supposed to be in-depth and on different topics. It is very hard to be researching two different topics at the same time and doing two different things with them. It would be much more helpful if either the presentation or the paper were due around mid-semester and the other at the end of the semester. Also, changing the syllabus around last-minute to cut out the final and put more weight on the midterm isn't fair.
excellent
The course was a great introduction to the field of social work.
I felt like even though we are living in Hawaii that it is kind of rude to bring in Hawaiian Guest Lectures who make non Hawaiians feel uncomfortable with their knowledge. Other wise I liked the class and it interested me to want to go into social work.
ENJOYED THE CLASS AND THE INSTRUCTOR
This was a fun class and I hope a lot of social workers come out of it.
good intro course
I loved this class. So many interesting topics and the assignments weren't overwhelming. The professor was great. The class made me want to be a social worker even more than before.
Very well structured and organized. Had a little bit of everything- power point, group project, paper, guest speakers, video, etc. Class was enjoyable and gave me good perspectives of every aspect of social work. It has made me want to pursue social work eventually.
great course...very interesting
that it made me feel ascertain that this is the career I want to pursue in the future.
A good overview of Social Work.
It was great to meet other social workers and all but I'd like to have a little more lectures just to highlight each chapter. That would also have helped me more on my paper.
It inspired me to get into this line of work.
Jackie promotes social work with passion and aloha. Thank-you
Wonderful!
What I enjoyed the most about the class were the guest speakers. They offered a lot of insight into the profession of social work.
Good.
