13. What did you like about this course, such as activities, projects, assignments, etc.?
Kate was very well prepared, all of our assignments and coursework were scheduled well in advance. No huge surprises.
I thought that the Word Power Made Easy book that we used for our vocabulary test was VERY effective, just from reading the first chapter it was easier for me to remember the words and their definitions. I like that some of our reading materials were something that I could sometimes relate to and so it was enjoyable for me to read.
I liked how Kate Sims was able to provide group projects and I also liked that we knew the assignments due at the begining of each week.
I did like the ability to do this class on line as I work more than a full time schedule. I appreciate Kate's ability to introduce the subject manner and her feedback during the semester. I particularly found the vocabulary section helpful and thought the author Norman Lewis did excellent in presenting the material in the book Word Power Made Easy. I found I was most amazed in my own ability to retain and recall all the words presented during the quizzes Kate gave.
I liked all of the course work but the due dates were confusing. Modules were opened on the weekend (Sunday) for each week. The dues dates were Tuesday and Saturday. Then as the course went on it was Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, next one was Monday, Tuesday, Saturday. We had a discussion board (most helpful), then a blog(useless), assignments, and test. It was quite confusing and I ended up missing assignments due to it. Also, all the activities weren't imputed into the gradebook. Which I found useful in my other classes as a way to check the due dates. I really enjoyed the team discussions! She put us into groups and had us post on the topic and then post on another team members. It helped see things from other readers perspectives.
I absolutely loved this class! Although it was my first semester using an online class this has by far been my favorite. The activities were helpful and useful in my other class and even sometimes they went hand in hand. I really enjoyed our research project it helped gain important knowledge on how to find credible information for other classes as well as this one.
I enjoyed the group assignments that Kathryn Sims assigned during this course. It was wonderful to hear and see views from fellow classmates concerning various topics. I also appreciated the consistency she provided on the due dates for our assignments. The weekly modules were always clear and easy to follow. Overall, this was by far one of my favorite college classes!
I really enjoyed the ease of communicating with Kate. The syllabus laid everything out and gave me the ease to plan my work schedule around the proctored exams. Awesome experience with an online class!!!
I enjoyed the vocabulary section of this course the most because I found it useful to learn the words not just for this particular class but to improve my own vocabulary and writing. I also found that a lot of the words we learned in the book, "The Word Power Made Easy" were on the SAT top 100 list so it also helped me in studying for the SAT's.
In this course I liked the group disscussions and the assignments.
I really enjoyed the group discussions, it gave us a chance to share our own ideas or opinions on the subject at hand.
14. Any suggestions to improve this course?
Sometimes it was hard to turn in work when it was due on a holiday. I have to use the computer lab at school and when they're closed, it's more difficult to get things done.
I have no suggestions to improve this course. It is a 102 English Reading course, I expected this much from a course like this one.
This was a fantastic online class!
None. I believe Kate did an excellent job in presenting this course to the students.
Make a set schedule that is known and easy to follow. Uploading all the assignments to the grade book with the due dates will be one place for students to plan ahead. So, if there is an assignment due back to back we can make sure we complete it. Also, the assignment for five academic journals due in one week. It seemed like a bit much. First, it would be nice to know we have to register for the site and that it has to be approved before you get in. It's not instant. It's something that will set you behind if you only have a week.
I think Kate did great and I do not have any suggestions for change!
I don't really have any suggestions for this course I thought that the work was tough but it was sufficent for what the course entailed and I thought that Kate made the course a lot easier by giving reference to the textbook and breaking every week down with detailed directions on how to do each task.
Just reveiwing the minor mistakes on the assignments and due dates will make it extra perfect.
15. Online communication with class members and the instructor helped me to learn course materials in an effective manner.

17. What did you like most about your online course experience?
Everything was always available for me to look at or refer to.
I like how I still got to socialize with my classmates on a weekly basis with the assignments and with group assignments. It still felt like a class I was in and not a online course that just gives work to do by yourself. I liked how we got to see our other classmates work so that we could see and even get inspired from their work.
I liked the variety in the different projects and assignments.
I felt I was part of the group as we learned the material. During discussion we were able to interact with each other and give very good feedback.
I really like the discussion board. It was the best thing about the class. I was able to learn the most from there.
I really enjoyed how committed Kate was to each of us. She made sure to give feedback on every assignment and helped us see where we needed to improve. To be honest I was not very keen on English before this class, now I have a new positive outlook on the subject :) Thanks Kate!
The convenience of going to college from home and having it work around my work schedule was the best part.
The ease of knowing ahead of time when we would be required to report to the college for any exams.
What I liked most about the online course experience was being able to communicate and help out my other classmates even though I wasn't able to see and physically talk to them. I like the idea of maintaining a classroom experience despite the fact that everything was online.
What I liked most about my online course expeirence was the assignments and disscussions.
It was hard work to learn in and keep up with a class online, but overall it was a good experience. I did understand most of the coursework better than I thought I would, the discussions were fun and learning some new skills was great.
18. What did you like least about your online course experience?
I'd like it if the module were available a week ahead of time, but I'm not sure how you'd do that without also adding in some confusion.
What I liked least about my online course experience is that whenever I took a vocabulary test it would sometimes stall and the time would keep ticking down until I didn't have much time to actually take my test.
N/A
I would like the chance to meet everyone in the class at least once.
Confusing due dates.
I cant think of anything I didnt like about this course
I loved it all!
I wasn't happy with the way the quizzes were formatted, but Kate fixed them to be more efficient.
What I liked least about this course was SQ3R. We did a lot of practice on it but I still had a difficult time understanding yet.
What I liked least about my online course experience was the vocabulary quizzes, only because I am bad at memorizing stuff.
Me, because I tend to procrastinate, but it was a good way to push those tendencies out of me, even if it was only a little bit.

Great Job:)
I really enjoyed taking this online course.
Good JOb Kate!
I liked how she did take students suggestions throughout the course! She changed the format of the timed test so we spent less time loading pages and more time on the test. I was really impressed with her willingness to do that.
Really enjoyed this class!
To Kate: I just want to give you a quick thanks for all the hard work you put into this course. It's evident that you care about each and every student you teach and put a lot of time into your courses. I really appreciate all you taught me and I enjoyed this semester in your class :)
Thank you for the great experience! :)
