8. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.

I really liked Dr. Verma's teaching style. She was very helpful and made sure everyone really understood everything.

It was not always clear what the expectations of the students were in this course. In the future it would be best to have a clear written syllabus outlining the expectations, i.e. grade is based on participation/presentations etc. A tentative schedule would be nice as well, although this, of course, could be flexible. This way those giving presentations may be able to plan ahead a little.

I liked the format and professor for this course. I really learned a lot.

I learned a lot, about being able to identify the rationale of doing an experiment, how to find weaknesses in a paper and how to fix them, and how to coherently present your data so that people will follow the flow of your argument. I was particularly interested in the malaria papers and Dr. Hoffman's section on CD8 T-cells, but I am glad I learned all the other topics as well, as I probably would not be exposed to them through self-study.

I liked the additional comments by the professors. These points added a great deal to the presentations

more/regular small group meetings to discuss whatÊ»s going on in lab and the science of what we are doing would be helpful.
