a time limit to fulfill each assignment. the instructor's high expectation of each student.
Color knowledge, shape and contour. Warm and cool.
although this course was a beggining course, I felt that as the semester went on, we were leaerning more valuable concepts than expected in an intro course.
Learning how to make the color gray; Looking at the slides of pictures by various pictures (and learning about the effects of brush strokes, color relationships and how the combination of colors can create different effects in the picture, etc.), the time we received to do our artwork
One on one interactions with mrs. wang was the most valuable to me. She helped me significantly by futhering my painting ablity and my understanding of different styles of art.
the aspects of money management. Art is a very expensive major.
The lessons on theory and actual painting demonstrations were best. Also, the examples of previous assignments. The only thing you can really do is keep painting until you start to understand it for yourself.
I improved so much and I really learned a good painting foundation!
The ability to see what no other can.

instructor's teaching style and methods were excellent.
Nothing needs improvement.
A lot of things in art, you discover on your own, and although the teacher does help give advice, it doesn't help unless the aritist him/herself understands and 'sees' the advice. Alot of things in painting was through self-discovery, and Ms. Yida was always there for help when students needed. I think Ms. Yida has made painting classes as manageable for students as possible. For each painting we did she gave us a general introduction on what kind of painting we were going to do, gave us a reasonable amount of time to do them, while giving us much advice during the process and always available for support. However one improvement that I felt should be made were the final critiques. Usually, each student would take turns to go up and 'present' their artworks, and the critique takes alot of time (often having to speed up the critique process).
Everything is handled and thought out very well to successfully further students ability to create art through painting. I wouldnt change anything.
The attendance affecting your grade deal is an awful idea. It's a 3 hour long studio, we should be allowed to come and go as we please as long as we get instructions from the professors and complete our work on time.
Most of the problems that occured during this semester were largely things that were out of our hands, and were not things that could have been fixed by us, like the issues with supplies. A project was removed because the class had fallen behind, but only since students were not coming in on their own time to complete them (which had been stated needed to be done to keep on schedule). I think lenience is good, and the class succeeded regardless, but more rigid schedules might help. Instructions can only be repeated so much.
Making more time for each class to have enough time with the still life.

Seeing the slides for each project. It really opened up new doors for me. :)
I think she sets us the high standard, and each student need to achieve the goal, which is very challenge and valuable.

Maybe seeing the slides first would help to move the small studies along a little quicker.
I wish we had two smaller projects in place of one of the projects, but that is just a personal preference. I feel that having the intro project, then three projects of generally equal length is a little intimidating at the start. But I appreciate the interest in developing personal ability.
Clearer explanations about assignments. Allowing us to see slideshows before working on studies.
