did not have any first-hand cultural immersion experiences as a group, because two of our classmates were from out of state

this course is essential for APRN curriculum content very interesting; great course and useful in not only nursing career but personal expereinces

Perhaps create one student assignment where the student volunteers in the community or attends a cultural event, write a journal about their experience, and then share what they've learned with the group. The cultural event should be culture that is different from what the student grew up in. Closer look at specific cultural groups

Enjoyed this course and how they were broken down into each of the different categories r/t the nurse educator. Possibly add an Elluminate session throughout for live discussion.

The readings and class discussions. Being able to do my work independly and on my own time. The course materials were easily accessible online. The instructor was available online for consultation. flexability

I liked the readings. The forum discussions were relevant to the readings, and helped pull the concepts through. The varied experiences of the students contributed to the overall value of the course. The course helped me understand vulnerable population and the importance of providing cultural competent nursing care and nursing research. I learned specific guidelines in nursing research and learned to critigue nursing research for cultural competency. the readings and paper on OPN Guidelines

21. My overall evaluation of this course is...

I appreciated the course. Excellent good. Dr. Ishida knows the subject very well and challenges us to gain better understanding that we might become culturally sensitive and competent nurse researchers.

22. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.

N/A Do not schedule forums when research papers are due so students have time to concentrate on papers I felt as if the comments on my graded paper only restated what was already known. It did not help me to know how to improve my paper to satisfy a higher grade.

working with preceptors. attending meetings to identify roles of faculty The practicum as it taught me "behind the scenes" of the faculty in nursing and also gave me an idea for my issue paper, and I have learned a lot from reading articles related to that.

Continue with the same teaching and encourage feedback on discussions. Stay instructing it :)

She is a great instructor. She is informative and always available when I need her. She makes student feel comfortable talking with her at her office. She is cool. Very competent and knowledgable in this area and extremely helpful. There wasn't one question that she could not answer clearly and succinctly.

Great and resourceful class. It enhances students to better prepare for the workforce. Excellent course to bring all the knowledge together at the end of the degree.
