13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Patience, endurance, and an laudably unshakable facade in the face of odds most perilous.
Had a passion for teaching the subject
One of the nicest people I have ever met. She knows the material well and offers help whenever needed.
she always encourage students to speech better. and also her explain was so clear to understand. most of all, she really thought about international students when we do something in class. she is so nice teacher.
She's very organized and a very good example of an exceptional speaker. She has helped me in my nervousness as a communicator. I want to have the same kind of confidence she has when she's in the front giving lectures.
Professor Norfleet is very approachable, accessible and fair. I thoroughly enjoyed being in her class.
Mrs. Norfleet, She was able to provide information to make us better speakers.
helped students get comfortable with speaking. She prepared us step by step
She has helped me to better understand how to put together speeches from an organizational standpoint. How to approach things to make them more effective.
Professor Norfleet was very kind and understanding. She always presented herself in a professional manner and knew the material she was teaching.
She is such a kind, caring, passionate teacher and an just a wonderful person.
She made me feel comfortable speaking in class from day one by the way she conducted her class.
She is calm, understanding, compassionate, expressive in a non-threating way. She makes you WANT to learn all you can about the subject she teaches.
Mrs. Norfleet is one of the best teachers I've ever had! She shows a genuine concern for her students, she is always prepared, and she sets a great, friendly environment for learning. She is always in a good mood, never sees a question as stupid, is fair, and always dresses sharp for class:)
Her pleasant and fun manner with us as a class and the assignments given made this class a great stress reliever for me. I looked forward to this class everyday I had it, and always felt good evyertime I left it. She made learning the material easy and fun for me.
she taught us something that we can actually use for our future jobs or in lives
She always encourage her studnets and make a great atmosphere!!
I liked the way that she taught the class. She was really patient, understanding, and really nice. I liked that she would prepare us for our tests, and if we had any questions about something, she was happy to explain it in further detail.
she knows her field very well.
She knows what student should do in class so her explain and lecture was really helpful.
her knowledge of how to convey the speech was pretty impressive.
She is mild-mannered teacher.
She is very well organized. I love the way she teachers. She teaches at a pace that everyone in the class can understand. She doesnt leave anyone behind. She offers help if needed. SHe answers every question. She gave examples really well to help us understand her.
She knew the subject area very well.
Communicating I'm glad she was my communications teacher
She is very nice and helps the student in Speech class overcome speec h apprehension.
Professor Norfleet tried her best to make everyone feel comfortable, especially for our individual speeches.
she really likes to teach students and her teaching style was very well-organized.
the way she plans her class
Good presentation skills,
Giving vivid instructions and explanations in every activity needed in class.
Her in class activities were relevant and helped to aid in her class lessons.
awesome teacher made everything clear and understandable for others to learn
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Learn Korean and Chinese, perhaps? It seems that the language barrier and high influx of international students taking Speech due to its status as a requirement is a bit of an impediment to conducting a smooth class. Either that, or somehow dissuade the administration from allowing those without a thorough command of the language from partaking in it.
Make class a bit more lively. Do more activities or class discussions to get people more involved. Could be a bit boring at times.
More organized with the speech dates.

Nothing. This was one of my favorite classes while attending KCC.

None....
None. She is such a wonderful teacher and such a compassionate person!
No changes needed. She is excellent. If you have not given her tenure, then you MUST CHANGE THAT and give it to her.
None, with all classes, a student needs to take time on the outside to study the text book, which aids in preparation for quizzes and tests.
none.
Nothing
her voice was little bit too soft, sometimes students were not completely listening(that's not her fault) or couldn't focus. little bit more stress on important things might help students to re- focus on the lecture.
I dont want her to make changes.

Have the class use textbook more often during class discussion. It helps when we study for exam.

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
By exercising an appropriate measure of tact despite the trainwreck of social inequity which is our current class.
Gave extensive notes on everything returned and offered help when there was an issue.
She offers help to everybody, and there is a lot of group work that helped get me over my fear of speaking in front of a croud.
She was available outside of class through email and responded quickly.
If there were any valid reason that a student was absent, she was willing to hear it and give the student the opportunity to make up the work. In group study, she encouraged that as well from the students. It was a good lesson to us all.
She was always there to answer any question as best as she could.
She would pause throughout here lectures to answer any questions or concerns. She was always available during her office hours and responded to my e-mails promptly.
She ALWAYS showed concern for my mother and I, because we couldn't always make it to class and she always understood. Not just for my mother and myself, but I could tell that she genuinely cared for other people also.
When I fell I'll she reached out to me to make sure I was okay and devised work arounds to ensure I did not fall behind.
She stays a little after class to answer questions and is available through e-mail.
She was very motherly to us all in class, and if we had any concerns, we could ask her right there in class with no worries at all. I feel that she made us all comfortable and feel at home when we came to class. She is very passionate and knew her material well when explaining it to us.
she gave us a lots of time for discussion along with other students. it was good opportunity to talk with new people
She always try to contact with her students and make sure we are doing okay.
She would answer our questions to make some things more clear.
when most of our class failed one of the exams, she graded it on a curve.
She made grade each presentation. Her comments made me confidence of speech and she gave me positive comments for every time.
She offered her time after class. She made sure that everyone was on the same level.
She graded our speech assignments fairly.
She listens to students who come up to her for concerns about class project and schedule.
She was very understanding and accomodated my needs.
Especially, she concerend about international students. and it make students to feel comfortable to lean and speech in the class.
she stay late to help the student
Asking questions, inquiring about absences, allowing schedule changes to accommodate students
Gives comment to students who needs improvement
She lacked concern. Doesn't excuse with proper notes (ex: doctor) and didn't seem to know if students were here or not.
told us her conern for us
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Difficult to say. Ours is a disconnected world, more and more, and I believe that, perhaps, the age in which social niceties are a requirement for functioning properly. Though I may disagree with it in what may be an eventual future, however, I think it is, for the moment anyhow, a valuable asset by which one can test their mettle and prove their abilities to themselves. So yes, I would. It's a requirement for most degrees, in any case.
Yes. She was a very nice woman who definitely enjoys teaching. Although she was often late for class and kept us a bit after time was over.
Yes. She is easy to listen to and generally cares about the students.
Yes I have already recommended her to several of my friends. She's good natured and friendly and easy to relate to.
Absolutely. I would recommend her to all students that need this course.
Yes... I was afraid to take a speech class..but she was able to help me get over that fear. ..I would strongly recommend this class to another student.
yes she was a very good teacher and helped me get more comfortable with speaking in front of a class
Yes, I enjoyed this class more than any other I had this spring.
I have and will definitely recommend her to other students. She did a great job in creating a comfortable atmosphere for learning. As I said before she is also very nice, approachable and fair with grading.
DEFINITELY! Like I said, she is so caring/kind to all of her students, and truly has a passion for the speech. Who wouldn't want a teacher like this for a speech class?
yes it was a fun class with a nicw teacher and well organized.
Yes. They way she teaches her course enables all forms of personalities to learn and thrive. I am the second sibling to take her class. I have already recommended her class to my last sibling in school and other friends.
YES! because she is a wonderful teacher.
Definitely. Although some of the material may seem boring and common sense, all the activities were fun and aimed at making the student learn and develop more on their own. I admit I was intimidated at first, but quickly changed when I realized that she is not a scary teacher and is all about making it great for the students.
i would recommend her to students, because i was able to learn a lot of thing from her. something helpful in my future
Yes she is the greatest teacher. I learned alot in this course.
Yes, I would recommend her to other students because she actually helped my speaking skills, and I actually thought that this class was one of my favorites and it was really fun. I met so much people in this class because you're constantly interacting with one another.
yes because if you're an international student, then you're in luck because she grades very lenient.
Yes. I did not want to take SP class because I do not like feel nervous. However, she said, "Nobody knows how much you are feeling nervous now." This quotes gave me confidence and i could enjoyed.
Yes.
Yes, she is an awesome awesome teacher. One of my favorites. She knows how to capture your attention and also she wants you to succeed.
I recommend her because she was really kind to all the students.
Yes , It's hard to find good teachers and I'm glas that I learned a lot from her class. In the beginning I was nervous to speak, know i feel more comfortable.
Yes. Its east to present in her class.
Yes. I was really worried about this class, but professor Norfleet eased and slowly transitioned us until we could finally do an individual speech.
i strongly recommend her to the other students, especially international students, because I had fun when i speech even though it was English speech.
yes
Yes, I was about to learn patterns for presentation I'll be able to use in my professional life
Yes, she's very straightforward, approachable, and considerate.
hell yes!! she makes it easy to understand what shes teaching
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
I think, perhaps, she would benefit from focusing more on curriculum and less on activities. Also, group work annoys everyone to no end; I should not have to worry about dragging the grade of my comrades along behind me by the ears when I should be worried about excelling in more personal respects. This world is not a collective, and even the most cohesive and codependent groups are naught save a mass of individuals. Building the ability to function in a group sounds pretty in theory, but in application I believe it to be the most damaging thing one can do to a class and the morale of its inhabitants.
She was always very patient with students and answered all questions to make sure everyone understood assignments and concept presented in class.
I thankful for her because normally I'm shy, but after giving presentations and speeches in her class, I am more confident in my ability as a speaker.
She is really one of KCC's and UH's greatest teachers. She makes you want to participate and learn. Not always the case with all teachers.
Thanks
Thank you so much for your patience with me and the other students, and for making this experience a memorable/fun one. I cannot say that about many other classes that I've had thus far, in fact I cannot say it about any other class. However, I can definitely say it about this class!
This has been my favorite course of all that I have taken. The things I learned from just watching her speak has enabled me to make great improvements in myself. She reminds me of a tutu, not in age but in wisdom and how she carries herself. If she teaches other courses I would sign up for them WITHOUT HESITATION.
I definitely improved in my speech methods because of her, thanks!
She always treats her studnets fairly and always available for help.
she's very understanding and caring.
Thank you very much. You are great SP instructor.
She's such a sweet lady. I am glad that I took her class.
You are my favorite teacher. I am glad that i got you as my speech teacher.
