2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
A lot of interesting information!
This course in particular has allowed me to learn how to utilize research options. Throughout this course, the students were expected to write papers on published research papers done by biology experimenters. This class has allowed me to learn how to properly select certain research options. As a class, we have been personally taught by the librarian on how to look for certain types of research resources. This skill will become helpful for future classes because it allows me as a student to become knowledgeable about how to utilize certain research resources.
it was not needed
I learned a lot about Hawaii's environment and coral reefs.
Although this course wasn't neccesary for my major, it has enhanced me with more knowledge.
This course made me understand how important corals are to Hawaii. How corals are amazing creatures and how the sea life has changed over the years.
I have learned so much more awareness and respect for the Coral Reefs and the different aspects that affects the environment we live in and the underwater world of different unique organisms that either benefit or a disadvantage to the human race.
It really helped understand more about my environment in respects to marine life.

5. Please comment on the activities or resources that could be added to this course to improve your learning.
We do a lot of class activities. It's a good thing actually that way i can look at it again before the exam.
I personally have enjoyed the group and class activities. They were fun, yet helpful for us students to understand certain concepts being taught by Dr. Cox.
more of those group activities
Updated videos of coral reefs
Maybe for the lecture's on slideshows, she can upload them it was lectured instead towards the end of the semester.
This course could use some class discussions on the importance of coral reefs are in Hawaii.
Probably some new lab equipments!
I really enjoyed the class activities that she used. I would definently keep those up.
You could have short quizzes so information can be remembered better. You could related assignments/activities more to the book.

9. Ten years from now I'll probably remember this course most by ...
Remembering how good a teacher Cox was. I'll remember coral reef.
Learning the consequences of the impacts that humans have made upon coral reefs and the ocean in general. I believe that my generation will have to deal with or come up with a solution as to how to fix problems that are causing the corals and the oceanic life to become stressed/harmed.
when i think of coral
the fun and interesting activities we did in class.
The little sea creatures and corals Dr. Cox brought in for the students to observe and see in person.
I will remember the amazing things coral go through to have sex and produce more coral.
THe concepts and principles. Also by the methods of teaching by the instructor!
the effects human's have on the marine ecosystem
The importance of taking care of our ocean waters.

17. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
It's okay.
i learned fine the way she teached
Simplifying difficult concepts about the ocean/corals/fish.
Again upload the lecture slides the day it was lectured,
Ms Cox is great when she explains the coral, but i think we would do better if we have more living examples that she brought with her.
I think this course should be taken advantaged of by having more students register..it is so informative and factual.
I enjoyed her teaching style and she was really helpful. I also like her policy on test this really helped me because I'm not that great at taking test esepcially on science test and her test are specifically good for students who are both good and bad at taking test.
You could have clearer powerpoints stating the main or important points more.
18. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
I like the way she teached to the class. Nice professor!
Dr. Cox is a very passionate and knowledgeable professor who I believe, loves teaching about her field of study. Dr. Cox provides the class with great knowledge, however, explains it onto our level of learning. Overall, Dr. Cox is a great professor whom I have enjoyed taking.
nice, intelligent, and helpful teacher
she is a very kind professor who thinks up of great in-class activities.
she is very helpful when you need it, and you can talk to her about grades/homework. She always responds back to emails. Her teaching is very useful and understandable
One of the best professors i have had. She explains things well and i love her activities in class.
Dr. Cox has inspired me to learn more about the beauty of the underwater world and how to appreciate the coral reefs by respecting its appropriated rules and laws. Therefore my overall evaluation of Dr. Cox is Superior!
Awesome!
She is knowledgable and passionate in coral reefs. I liked that her lectures and assignments would relate to present day events. However, sometimes the information was unclear.

22. My overall evaluation of this course is...
I enjoyed the class. Not so hard after all!
I personally do not like science in general, however, Dr. Cox has made this science course much more enjoyable. The class activities, lectures, and reviews were very helpful and made learning much easier.
i learned a lot
that it is challenging if you don't keep up with the assignments, but you will learn from it.
Certain parts are confusing but they all tie in with one another, and the things that are taught are very interesting.
This course is great to learn more about coral and living animals in the sea. I loved it.
It's an Excellent to take!
Great course for those who want to learn more about corals and the ocean.
Overall, I learned a lot about coral reefs and all the factors that affect them. This was a interesting course and now I view our ocean in a different perspective.
