13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
good example
Explains well and encourages students.
He offers an atmospere where student's feel relaxed. He takes the time to explain concepts that are not clearly understood.
Good atmosphere, easy to understand.
He made the class interesting.
I was actually suprised how well behaved the class was and suspect it had much to do with the timeframe. However, it may have been that Austin is a self effacing teacher that presented a non- threatening atmosphere to the students. As it was the class was very conducive to learning.
gives lots of examples and many examples similar to our homework
As a teacher, Prof. Anderson's major strengths tend to be that he is willing to prepare available resources (himself and his webpage specifically)in order to help his students succeed. He also gives out a much needed break in class in order for his students to get their bearings before the second half of the lecture. In this way, his strengths tend toward getting us to absorb the information as best as possible while allowing time outside of class for questions concerning the homework.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
no
He could be a little more organized with his lectures. This was a summer class, and there was alot of materials to get through. I would also suggest that there is a limit to how long individual students take up class time with their homework questions.
Maybe not too many. Although I do believe that he could be more demanding of us students.
None
One possible change that I have to Prof. Anderson is if his webpage URL was put on the board for the entire summer course so that people will know. This is pretty minor in and of itself since most people can just visit him during office hours to get their questions answered up front.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
write on white board with explain
He always made sure all students questions were answered. Always available for help.
He is always willing to help his students and wants them to learn the material. His lectures are interesting and he give practical applications for the math being taught.
He had office hours after his class and he constantly told us about his office hours and where he would be at certain times of the day.
He made himself available to discuss discrepancies with our homework tool, namely MyMathLab, which can be somewhat challenging.
Encouraged us to use his office hours.
Prof. Anderson shows concern for his students through his break time sessions and for going over some tough quiz questions to help us prepare for the next one. The five minute break sessions are there for when we need time to do an in-class worksheet or to just simply take a break so that we would be refreshed for the second half of the day's lesson. Him going over quiz questions allows us to understand our mistakes so we don't repeat them on the next major quiz or test. He wants us to succeed and he has the strategies for it.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
yes. i could learn a lot of things from him
Yes. Everything is broken down and taught so the students can apply the concepts to real life.
I would definitely recommend him to other students. He is a gifted teeacher and makes everyone feel welcome in his class.
I recommend his class to my friends.
Yes. He is a great teacher. He allows us to work with each other to figure out problems, so we would know what we did wrong and what other ideas other students had to solve the problems.
Yes. He is pretty calm and does not appear to get flustered with us when we didn't understand the work.
Yes, he was able to explain lots of concepts so I could understand. He was very helpful
I would definitely recommend Prof. Anderson to other students because unlike other Math 140 professors in the main branch of UH (the Manoa branch), he actually makes his lessons easy to understand and does so in a timely manner. His class is also relatively easy to pass so if someone has trouble passing Math 140 at UH Manoa, they can go to him in order to get similar results for half the costs. That and the fact that he is made easily available after class for questions makes students feel comfortable knowing that there is help.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Prof. Anderson pretty much summarizes what most students should see in a reasonable math teacher. The fact that he teaches at a community college makes him more valuable since going to his class costs less than if someone was to attend class at UH Manoa like I did. An overall great teacher to finish your Math 140 course, especially over the summer.
18. Other comments:
I have had him for two classes. This summer term, he seemed a bit preoccupied when teaching. He made a few mistakes when putting problems up on the board. He had to constantly correct himself and mention that he made a mistake. This is the first time that he has been a bit "flighty" for a class.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
he is able to communicate really welll to the students & reach out to them like no other math professor i have has been able to do. he made math fun & made me want to come to class & learn.
always helps his students.
Mr. Anderson is a very knowledgeable teacher. He does a great job at explaining the objective of the subject matter and thoroughly explains reasonings to why things need to be done. He also does numerous examples of the section.
He understands that Calculus can be difficult for most students and explains difficult math concepts in a way that one can understand.
He's cool and smart.
Austin Anderson provided the students with many opportunities to be successful in class. He answered many questions with considerable intelligence and allowed the students to make sure that they understand the material that is being covered. Generally, Professor Anderson showed his willingness to help out any student who might have trouble with any problems and he explains the ways to solve them in the most concise way. Another important benefit that I have with him as my instructor is the ability to communicate with other students and get them to participate in the class activities. The lesson plans that he brings to class daily really works out well for many students because they are hands-on approaches that essentially help out with every situation. On some days, the main activity might be a lecture and some others might involve a worksheet that covers the concepts which are going to be on the homework assignment. But the major point is that the activity provides a better picture of what is being demonstrated within the section.
He was able to translate techniques for dealing with math problems into very understandable terms. Even with coming into the class with little to no foundation in calculus, he encouraged students to work together in order to learn easier during worksheet sessions.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
none :)
none
none.
Don't assign even number problems, its easier to learn as you go when you can check answers as you go--builds a stronger base.
The only change that I suggest to Austin Anderson is making sure that there are no mistakes when it comes to correcting homework and exams. Sometimes I noticed that there might be a few questions that are marked wrong even though they might be correct. So I think it would be a good idea for Professor Anderson to take his time correcting the work to minimize these errors.

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
he always gave us time to work on assignments with him or other classmates and he made sure we understood the material. he always started the day by asking if we had any questions on previous lecture or homework assignments & was sure to address them.
always went over homework problems.
He always asked us if there is anything we do not understand. And if there is something a student does not catch on to, he explains it again in another way. He also reminds us nearly every other day that he is available for tutoring during his office hours.
He lets us know when he too thinks a problem is hard to do.
He always answers everyone's questions and gives each student his full attention when helping them.
Professor Anderson wants to make sure that every student understands the concepts of Calculus because there are many rules found within this level of Math that are new to many students. He does this by doing several examples that are covered and going over them after the students listen to the lecture. Occasionally, Professor Anderson gives a question to the class and they answer it with similar approaches.
He always answered any questions or concerns and even stayed pass the end of class in order to help students with any problems they may be having with homework.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
i would highly recommend him to anyone, math majors, or anyone else who just needs to get through a few math courses. im sure anyone would enjoy his class whether or not they like math.
yes because he teaches the material well and will give out many examples.
Yes. He has a great teaching style.
Yes, he is reasonable and fair
Yes and no. Yes because he is really a nice, funny guy and the atmosphere he creates in his class makes it a comfortable environment and you don't feel embarrassed for asking questions, and because he's smart, and you can tell he's smart... But, no because his lesson plan is kind of messy and unorganized, so if structure helps, he doesn't.
I would highly recommend Austin Anderson to other students because he is an excellent Math teacher who really knows the ideas and concepts very well. Usually when I have a question, he is willing and able to provide in-depth, concise answers that really help me understand the ideas of Algebra and Calculus. Furthermore, Professor Anderson is very outgoing and enthusiastic about the topics that are covered in class and he is definitely passionate working with the students. So I think that anyone who is interested in learning many new, exciting Math concepts should attend or enroll in one of his classes.
Yes, he's a very good teacher that shows concern for his students. He also creates an atmosphere great for learning.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
n/a.
He did a great job teaching Math 205
I would like to thank Professor Anderson for being his student during the past 2 semesters. There are many ideas and concepts that I learned from his classes and I would be delighted to be in any future class that he might be teaching.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
His major strengths is that he is such a nice guy. And he knew the subject very well.
His patience, along with his want to teach in the clearest way possible
Major strengths is that he is nice and approachable, so if we were to have questions or problems, he is willing to help.
Definitely tries to encourage students to see how math can be used in real life situations. Very positive attitude that makes the atmosphere of the class non-threatening and learner-friendly.
VERY approachable, and allows time for students outside of class.
Very effective teaching method. Made the class fun and very friendly to approach.
Professor Anderson has provided many strategies that has helped students with their math questions. For many sections, he would specifically talk about what equations are important to solving the problem that they are given. After every equation gets solved, he would go over the answers to make sure that everyone followed the same steps. Moreover, Professor Anderson displayed a very intelligent and relaxed approach that really helped me get through any difficulties that I might have regarding the material that was covered. When many students talked to him on some questions, he provided a complete explanation of how and why the answer turned out to be in that situation. In that case, I believed that Professor Anderson really understood many of the concerns that some people might have on the material that was being covered.
Confident Friendly Easy to talk to Knows his Math
relates and breaks down material in a way that everyone can understand.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
I would suggest that maybe he practices how to explain the math material before he comes to class. I could tell he really knew his stuff, there's no doubt about that. However, when it came to trying to teach the material to us, at times it was kind of confusing. I know people make mistakes, but teachers should try to make as little as possible. He made a few math mistakes which could be really confusing for us as students in the long run. Also, please make sure that when you are doing equations on the board, you do not skip any steps what so ever because it could confuse the student veryyy easily.
N/A
Major changes in presentation. I don't know if it's because he get's nervous or if he's still inexperienced as a teacher, but the material is just so difficult to understand. More than half the time throughout this course, we hear "um" and "uh" during every lecture with awkward silences in-between and we are correcting the mistakes he writes on the board during lectures (which further confuses most of us). In the beginning of the course, he mentions that we must show our work, but he contradicts himself by not showing any work in the lectures, skipping steps, making us wonder how he gets numbers on all his problems. I spent 2/3 of the course looking at my "high school math notes" than paying attention in class, because even my notes looked more understandable than what he was teaching.
The book was a little hard to follow...it seemed like it might have been easier to teach the subject and the concepts using either a different book, or maybe even just the mymathlab.
PLEASE ask the students questions and have us answer problems during class to encourage participation.
The only change that I suggest to Professor Anderson is to make the homework assignments on paper instead of online. I understand that online homework is a great option to have because it helps provide the step by step process in solving an equation but I think it would be better for some students to use paper in some way so that if they did not have any access to a computer, the assigned homework might be completed on time.
Needs more practice towards teaching, but once he does more and more, he will figure out the best way to teach
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
He showed concern for us by telling us he's always available. A lot of the students met with him right after class though just because it was most convenient during that time.
Was l lenient and patient with students
Available for questions before and after class.
Always stayed minutes after class to answer the load of questions students have.
Professor Anderson worked closely with the students to make sure that they completely understand the material. He did this by fully explaining what the approachesto take when considering each type of problem that is given. Sometimes, the strategy that I used was very familiar and on other occasions,it seemed new and difficult to understand. But Professor Anderson was able to put the questions that the students have into an interesting lesson that has inspired the entire class to intently listen and apply when completing the homework. Professor Anderson also gave extra credit to people who wanted to increase their scores on one of the exams. This really was a creative idea to help students understand some of the mistakes that they might have made during the exam and practice for the Final Exam. So I thought that Professor Anderson provided the class with opportunities that benefited the students.
Available after class in case we need help
answering question, regardless of how confusing some of the questions seemed.he made sure that the student understood before going on.responded to emails in a timely matter.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Umm, I'm sorry Mr. A, you're a really nice person and super flexible and understanding, but since I'm more of a visual learner, I did not enjoy this class as much. You need to make sure that you put every single little step in there to make sure the student has an easy way to connect how you got from this problem, to this answer. Since he is not the greatest speaker, he should really work on this, and I think students would enjoy this class way more. *But when showing every single little step, keep in mind what is "duh" to us.
Yes.
Reccomended
With easier math subjects or for students who are independent learners, I would recommend this teacher. He is approachable and getting a good grade isn't entirely impossible.
Yes;
Yes, because he'll help any student willing to actually learn the material.
Yes. Awesome teaching method and fun class lectures.
I would definitely recommend Professor Anderson to any student who is interested in taking any type of Math class because he possesses an intellingent mind and a relaxed personality that has been successful in teaching the students. Professor Anderson has shown his willingness and ability to work with students who might have a difficult time trying to comprehend the concepts and trying to solve them on their own. He provides excellent advice that I thought is essential to having a strong foundation in future Math classes. Furthermore, Professor Anderson has provided the class with many opportunities to get a good grade. One example of this happened when he gave an extra credit assignment that helped increase some people's test scores. I thought that it was a creative apporach that has provided benefits for many people. So I thought that Professor Anderson really listened to the students needs and made sure that everyone tried their best in the class.
Yes, but maybe later on when he's more familiar with teaching.
yes, organized doesnts make the material anymore confusing than it already is.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
You have potential to be a really great teacher. Just maybe work on speaking, gathering thoughts and then try to not miss any steps (even the little ones) when solving a problem (we're not always as smart as you!). But besides that, you're a breath of fresh air when it comes to strict math teachers.

Thanks.
I would like to sincerely thank Professor Anderson for being my instructor during Spring and Iam looking forward to participating in his Summer class. There have been many things that I learned from him over the past 4 months, ranging from knowing and understanding equations and their graphs to trigonometry that involved many different geometric shapes such as the unit circle and triangles.
He's doing a good job, just a little more experience and he will be great!

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
His extensive knowlege of the material, and that he could relate the material in different ways. That helped cater to the different ways individual students understood the material.
He is very kind and considerate. He has a good teaching skill.
Very good teacher, awesome logical explanations makes you fully understand the concepts.
Being relaxed makes everyone else relaxed. He answers questions right away instead of waiting. Is a nice person to learn from. Wants to help when he can. Asks for questions.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
None!
Use of a phone.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
His teaching skill is good for international students because I can understand all of thing in the class.
He was always available to explain anything you needed him to.
Office hours. Giving people a break when mistakes happen.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Definetly. The time he took during in class workshops to make sure students were understanding the material and the way he could explain it made it easy to calculus easy to understand.
I will recommend to my friends because his class is nice.
Yes
Yes, the guy is genuinely a good guy.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Best math teacher
I learned a lot from him.
18. Other comments:
After taking Calculus I at Windward Community College and failing after studying hard I came to KCC where I think the Calculus I program is really good, way better. Dr Anderson is a really good teacher and I learned so much and I now understand Calculus very well
School needs to be run in such a way where it can teach students that money isn't everything. Actually get them to not even think about the money. Also I think it would be a good idea if we could keep security on the campus but keep it so that the students are able to be as free thinking as possible without hurting anyone. Sometimes I would stay on campus and I might sleep on the grass. But I would be told to wake up. Or quit loitering. Well. This is a form of self expression as well I think. It just gives the person time to think. Without going all the way back home to think. Home is were the heart is so. Just saying could be a little more lenient.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
As a teacher, he writes down notes for us. When students almost arrive at the answer, he gives little hints on how to fix it. After class, he tells us that he's available to answer any questions we may have. But most of all, his major strength is that he relates to his students. He gives examples that can be applied in daily routine. I like that he lets us work in teams because although math is something an individual should do on his/her own, it's also good to learn from other peers mistakes and what not.
Austin Anderson has a very easy going and relaxed teaching style. This is a great attribute when teaching a subject that can very intimidating. He is clear about the material he is teaching. He also allows alot of class participation--students feel free to comment and ask questions.
He can relate and very flexible and notifys us on every quiz and test! very funny too!
Great at explaining the material.
Austin is very nice and patient.
He is very organized and he knows his material. He is very friendly as well. I like the way he goes over the math because its the best way I learn math. He is easy to contact out of class and he always emails back.
he has a lot of knowledge in the subject
He knows his subject well, and he teaches it effectively. He is friendly and approachable.
Knows the subject
He was knowledgeable about the topics at hand. Examples that he went over in class were problems that were difficult for me to do. I appreciated it, that he went over stuff like that. He spoke clearly in class, I always sit in the back and I could hear him.
he was very good at explaining the topics and going very things that people had a hard dime understanding
Mr. Austin strengths is he's ability to teach. If you listen closely to how he lectures he explains each formula/rule by using definitions and relating it to everyday life. Me even writes eveything on the bored like cautions suggestions
he knows material well and presents it in a fun and simple way to understand
He teaches very clear and also gave answered any questions in class during his lectures, other teachers may not let you until lecture is over. His notes for math we're very helpful and clear for future homeworks, quizzes and classwork.
He knows how to simplfy the material in math and clearly explains what we have to look out for, while doing homework.
Good at explaining, I really understood the material.
Good teaching kill. He is an approachable teacher.
Concern about students and always offering chance for students to make up works.
He makes the classroom comfortable. He is very friendly.
He followed his syllabus and notified students if there were changes. Prompt in grading papers and clearly went over it to help students understand the subject.
he goes over step by step on how to do the problem
a complex thinker
Knows the subject area extremely well and is very friendly.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
The only flaw I'd say about him is that he sometimes can't explain a process clear enough. It takes him to rephrase his sentence 2 or 3 times before at least, I can understand it. For the most part, I think there's an advantage to using the whiteboard but the markers usually run out of ink fast. He should try to use a different kind of board or marker that is environmentally friendly??
To not jump from one subject to another because at times i get confused.
I don't think he needs to change anything.
Maybe teach a little faster
less online homework, it sucks inputting long strings of polynomials into a computer, and if you have the wrong form of an answer put it its marked wrong even though its technically correct
Not to rush. He doesn't do it all the time but sometimes he'll be talking about one subject then jump to the next one. but other than that I enjoyed his class.
none.
Not to linger so much on one thing. He sort of taught us a little bit too much like we were "dumb"... I think he underestimates our intelligence and that we can grasp things much quicker than he thinks we can.
He could be more confidence on what he think he is right.
N/A
none
In the beginning of the semester, lectures were kind of unorganized and confusing but got better over the semester I wish he gave more examples on each topic and talked about it more then expecting us to "know" it already or its just "review."
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
He goes around the classroom to check if all students are doing the math problem correctly. And when most of the class doesn't understand it, he explains it. Basically, he treats his students well too. He doesn't yell (but not that it's necessary) or be boring where he doesn't make side jokes about things. When students are either absent, he gives make up quizzes which is good so that students don't fall behind on their grades.
He really wants students to understand the materials presented. He answers questions, stays after class, and most importantly he challenges his students.
He told us to constantly check our email and told us constantly the due dates of our assignments.
He is easy to contact. He helps students after class if they need help on their homework, exam, classwork, etc. He is at school almost every day so he can try and schedule you into any time you are free as well. He emails back all the time.
he helps them out when they ask questions and make sure they understand it at the end
He clarifies when we ask him to without ever belittling us and is often available outside of class.
He would always answer questions from his students and never dismiss them. He never made his students feel stupid, especially when it came to Math.
yes
He showed concern for his students by understanding that some problems on the exam were hard and made up for those points by giving partial credit if we wrote something right on the exam even if it didnt lead to the right answer. and provided a coupe of extra credit.
He gave out extra credit to boost up homework points, and made himself available after class for questions and help if you missed an assignment in class.
He should concern by asking if we had any questions on our homework and helped us out when we would asked questions on in class worksheets.
He gave out the answers a lot, which was a bit disappointing because then instead of only the people who deserved a high mark getting a high mark, everyone would get a high mark.
He replies students' email pretty soon, and will come up to students when they look confused, and offering them help.
He asks if there were any questions for him concerning each chapter and would stay behind after class to answer questions. He would also have a review for each exam to give students an idea of what is going to be on the exam.
When we emial him he will get back to us and if we needed help he will assit us and guide us in finding way to help us undrstand how to solve the problem
try hard to teach us
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes, I would recommend him because he's a young math teacher. What I mean by young is that he can relate to his students who are in their early 20's. He tries to give examples that relate to a certain cohort.
I would definitely recommend him to other student's. He seems to really care about his student's, and enjoys teaching.
Yes. Great teaching methods
No, because i didn't although i already know the course because i learned it during high school, i got confused most of the times because i didn't get how he teaches.
Yes I would. He is helpful and friendly.
yes
Yes, because math is a difficult subject for many students, but he teaches it in a way that is easy to understand. I did not struggle unnecessarily in his class.
Yeah, he knows the subjects and is open to the different ways of doing math
YES! For myself, he treats us as equals.
yes because he worked hard on making sure students understood each concept
Yes, I would. Because he is a new teacher I thought he would be nervous and not too as good but he honestly didn't do a bad job he has potential to be a great math teacher.
yes
yes i would definitely recommend him to students. best math professor i ever had.

Yes. He is super nice and willing to help students.
Yes, he allows us to work in group, so that we will gain with others.
Yes. His teaching way is easy to understand.
Yes, I would recommend him to other students. He is very knowledgeable of the subject he teaches. Also, he is patient, understanding, and flexible when it comes to due dates.
yes because he shows step by step instructions he egnages the class
yes, he`s good
Yes friendly teacher that knows his math and shows enthusiasm and eager to teach.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
I certainly enjoyed the class. And even if it was a review of the things I learned in Math 25, there were additional problems or equations I wasn't familiar with which I know will come in handy someday.
He can be pretty funny! I enjoy his math jokes as well as the ones that are not so directly related to math.
He needs to gain a little more confidence in teaching. Mr. Anderson does a great job, but he looks a bit uncomfortable at times. I dunno, I think its just me. But he is a great teacher. I am taking his Math 135 next semester.
He really does teach good. Many people may say hes boring or whatever because I've heard conversations but because math isn't everyones favorite subject it does get boring its just how each individual seriousness of the subject. I recommend Mr. Anderson.
Cool and chill. very awesome teacher.

He is friendly but a bit too timid. I think he just needs to gain experience and authority.
He is a good and new teacher, less confidence than other teachers. But I think he will better later.
A very good and well-paced math class. I really appreciated the extra credit opportunities.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
He helps the students out a lot.
He knew the subject matter and was always willing to help students.
He always taught us easy to understand. He is a very kind teacher to students because he always treated students fairly.
He really knows how to explain things to students. His explanations are very clear. He seems always willing to help students. Therefore, he makes students feel free to ask questions :)
he is a good teacher, and helping, sharing with students
He was very focused on giving every student a fair share of grades and any way to boast up our grades.
Knows what he is talking about. Tries to make the class fun despite the difficult lecture. Very fun professor.
He is knowledgeable about his subject and can relate it to real life as well as help us know where we will need it in the future
He provided a good atmosphere in learning. If you didn't understand any math equation, he would go back and do it over again.
he breaksdown the topics in lecture. it makes learning easier.
is easy to pass!
You can tell he really loves math. He relates to students.
Fair.
He is very knowledgeable.
Of course he understands the all the material he goes over in class and he is willing to help out students with math problems that my seem difficult for people to understand.
He makes everything clear and provides good examples.
He explain the lesson very well and step-by-step so students can understand it.
He is devoted, friendly and helpful. He helps students outside of class even time out over 20 minutes.
He explains the material well, uses good examples and grades students fairly.
Professor Anderson was very good at keeping the classroom in a relaxed modd. This helped me tremendously because I had always been afraid of math and always felt nervous in math classes. In this class I felt less tense and this definitely helped to boost my concentration and confidence. Professor Anderson's quizzes and worksheets were very helpful also because I was able to get help immediately from him and my peers when I needed clarification. This also allowed me to help my peers as well which allowed me to solidify my knowledge.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
I would suggest making the lectures more informative and more use of the textbook. A lot of times I felt that I had to teach myself things because his lectures weren't clear enough for me to understand that when I did the online homework I was so lost. I would also suggest doing more examples during lecture.
he can teach a little slower, i mean speak slower.
N/A
more example for the question
He needs to explain more. Maybe be more clean as in steps on how to solve something.
He knows the subject and easy going. not a dinosaur like everybody else in the Math dep.
His lecture speed was fast. I hope it is a bit slower.
He should try make the exam questions a little more relavent to the homework and quizzes we do in class. I feel some of the questions he puts on the exam are not what we studied in the class or reviewed much at all with. He should tell us what type of problems should be on the exams and which types should we not study for.
Keep up the good work!
He should give more example for each type problem.
make sure everyone is grasping the material. also dont just assume students know every stem and skim over material break everything down

None.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
When anyone needed help, he was there to give it.
He was always willing to answer questions for students. If ever I emailed him, he was always willing to answer and questions and help me in any way.
he shows us how to do the work, and he has extra credit for student can work on.:)
Provides extra credit for everyone, and extra points for participation.
He provided extra credit and gave out open quizzes that we can study afterwards for the main exams.
by letting us know about our grades. asking if we have questions.
Yes....
He remembers students' name and was close to us at friendly atmosphere.
I he asked questions in front of the class if students had issues.
He helps us with any questions that we may have and relates the subject towards real world applications.
He answer any questions and e-mail.
He usually goes around in class to help (if students need) while we do assignments.
He asked a lot of questions collectively to the class and was accessible for class questions in and out of the classroom.
Professor Anderson showed concern for his students by always being ready to help. I often saw him stay after class to help his students. He clearly informed the class his different contact routes which gave the students more access to seek help.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes, he's a good teacher.
No, because I had a really hard time understanding his lectures. He would jump around a lot between different topics that I would get so confused. His tests and quizzes sometimes had nothing to do with what he taught in class. He would say that it was online homework but I would think he would put emphasis on what he taught in class.
Yes, because his lecture is clear enough to understand the concepts.
yes , i would. as i say, he is funny, friendly and try to help students a lot.
yes, because the class was well organized and he made the material easy to understand.
Yes, because he is a good teacher that teaches well. He also willing to help anyone that has problems.
Yes. He teaches in a way understandable to us all and very eager to help those who does not.
Yes, because his lectures was effective and understandable. He provided help so that you can do well in his exams and homework.
yes! he provides a good environment for learning.
yes, he is easy to get a good grade
Yes. He's a good teacher
Yes. Cause he is a complete teacher! He is there to teach us not to force us to be like him...
Yes. You can be relaxed to study Math.
Yes, that is if you are prepared for elementary functions.
Yes because this class is very easy to get through. Thre subject may be hard for some but he does a good job of guiding his students through the work.
Yes! He's a good Professor.
Yes, students who really want to learn should take him because you will learn a lot from HW, quizes and test.
no. he is a great person but for me i learned more on my own then i di going to his class. he likes to skip steps in problems becuase he assumes everyone knows it but thats not always the case.
Yes, he's a fair and knowledgeable teacher.
Yes, especially if you are the type of person who is nervous about math like I was. During the first day of class, I remember nervously asking Professor Anderson about how I can review for this class because I haven't taken math in a long time. I did this because I was very worried about this class. Now I don't feel so afraid of math and this class gave me the confidence boost that I needed.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?

Good guy..... great teacher.
Thank you for all of your lecture.
He's doing a great job.
He is a good teacher.
he could be a great teacher but he needs a lot more practice. i dont think he should be teaching a 135 class. would be better if he got some experience in the math 25 and below classes.

Likeable guy
He was a really great guy and treated all the students fairly and respectfully. You could always go up to him and ask him questions, or talk to him about things that you didn't understand.

He meets with his students to show them their grades and what they can do to improve and answers your questions right then and there :)
He knows how to teach the subject show step by step on how to do math problems and etc.
he was able to explain how to complete a problem in more than one way
He is available for any questions or concerns, and encourage to ask them if any.
Mr. Anderson was fair in his treatment towards everyone. He was very patient and showed great care and concern in helping me and other students to prepare for our tests. I observed him as a very gentle and compassionate person while dealing with students who were having a very difficult time with the course. He allowed the student to make the personal decisions about the course after explaining reasonable options. I really appreciated his patience and taking time to explain and answer my many questions. I have a disability and he was most kind and discreet not to make my disability apparent in any way. Austin is an excellent teacher and I would highly recommend him. Thank you, KCC, for employing such competent and truly caring teachers who know how to teach and encourage the best of their students. Sincerely, A Grateful Student
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
maybe to try and update grades weekly if possible, and meet with us every two weeks.
none
n/a
I suggest to really push not getting behind in modules. It's almost finals week and a lot of us are behind. It's not his fault, but I suggest that he really emphasizes to work ahead and stick to the schedule if you want to pass with an A.
No changes.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
updates and small teacher student conferences
We would have a grade check every two weeks, and he would ask us how we were doing in the course. Also, everyday before class began, he reminded our class on where we were supposed to be in the course. He also gave us dates and times of supplemental workshops on Fridays; which helped students get extra help on sections that they were unsure about.
n/a
Yes, he did! He walked with me from the math lab to the library to put my name on the list for the exams and is always very nice, I think he's a gentleman.
He encouraged us to keep up with our work and had progress checks with us to see how we were doing.
walking around during class
He does individual assement on where you are standing and give suggestions.
Mr. Anderson was always informative in letting the class know what their objectives and expected performance was for the week, and for the scheduled semester. He consistently asked if anyone one had questions that needed explaining, and he made the time to personally review and evaluate each student. He was watchful and assisted anyone who needed help promptly. Also, he was discerning and would offer assistance if a student showed signs of needing help. I appreciated the fact that Austin treated everyone with respect and dignity.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
yes he knows his math
Yes! Very nice math teacher, and always willing to help.

Yes, I already have! Great teacher.
Yes, because he knows what hes teaching, keeps students on track, and his procedures for the class was clear and organized.
yes, its a good blend of computer with help from a teacher
Yes. He is knowledgeable about the course.
Yes, I would highly recommend Austin as a teacher to any student looking for a competent and caring teacher who knows how to teach students. He is an encourager and wants his students to do well.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
thank you!
n/a
I like how he's also blonde like me, 3 of my teachers are blonde :) Hair color that is :)
Good teacher.
I'm impressed with the fact that Austin is going to obtain his doctorate in math. He is a good example, to the youth of this generation, which exemplifies the message, "You can do it, keep trying, we're here to help you."
18. Other comments:

He taught me so well that right after I get done with this quiz I'm going to finish 9.2 Quiz :)
The model of the class is different from what I expected with "in class", I prefer Lecture base, this style feels like an online class which I am not a fan of. The only good think I can think of is it is Self Paced.
I would also like to express great appreciation and thanks to all the other teachers who assisted me in the math lab during my extra hours spent there after regular classes. Ms. Davis, John, Marissa, and Mr. Yoshimura were also very skillful, patient, and caring teachers. Like Austin, they were able to explain the most difficult concepts for me to grasp in a practical way which outdid the math book and Pearson coursecompass course. I felt the computer course was advantageous to me personally. It allowed me the time to work at my own pace and to work out the problems and concepts without the pressure and fear of failing the course. It helped me to develop my critical thinking skills in solving math problems I was not familiar with, however, it could not replace the need for genuinely knowledgeable, skilfully experienced teachers. Thank you, Kapiolani College, for providing the best quality education for the students who attend this school. I'm thankful to be a student. I hope you never underestimate or replace excellent teachers with online classes or computer programed courses, as technology is providing more dependency on such teaching methods. Sincerely, A Very Grateful Student
