A very good teacher of Japanese.
he is a fun teacher and makes me want to learn more.
He is a good teacher. He keeps students in check while at the same time keeping the class work and homework at a decent amount. Very well balanced.
Great professor who is still young enough to relate to the everyday life of a student. Best professor this semester, by far.

8. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
I liked the in-class practice sessions. This helped develope more confidence in speaking the language.
Learning new phrases and such
Really enjoyed the class - oral communication class seemed to help with understanding grammar rules a bit better than previous Japanese classes taken in elementary/intermediate/high school. Definitely helped with being able to communicate and form sentences better. Role playing and having a communication partner was effective.
Oral communications
every thing, teaching ,practice, and the way Mr Kubota teach is really good
Everything
Culture and application of language
9. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
I do not like how the textbook did not provide all of the vocabulary words used in the listening excerices. It is difficult to understand and gather meaning from words that are not in the textbook. Many times, I had to search on google just to find the definitions.

Great teacher
a fun smart kind of guy who is also understanding.
Made a good teacher, was flexible and available to students during and after class. Readily explained cultural and grammatical notes and was able to answer questions students posed. Would recommend having him teach another Japanese class whether it be the same one or a different course level. Encouraged students and also made students feel comfortable with the language even if they were having difficulties.
Amazing
Great teacher, really improved my Japanese, loved his class, super nice teacher

5. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Learning Japanese. More specifically, the different tenses and how to conjugate. Also Kubota-sensei was open to random questions and would sometimes reply even if it was late at night.
learned at a good pace but it did get harder and harder throughout the semester everything i learned was pretty valuable
I believe everything was the valuable in my case. I believe all the moments he taught teaching us and communicating with us helped us grow more interesting in Japanese as a language.
I could learn basic grammar and expression through this class
Kubota's interest in his students. He was always willing to help when ever needed. His use of Power point presentations was really useful and made it easy to study at home.
The in-class exercises helped me a lot.
Every part of it. The way Kubota approached teaching us a new language in reading, writing, and speaking was easy to understand and fun to learn. I learned a lot.
The activities were a good way to practice sentence structures. Excellent visuals helped in understanding material. Review sessions were helpful in preparing for the lesson quizzes.
The powerpoint slides were very helpful because he posted them every night on Laulima and we were able to reference them while we studied for our tests.
The professor was really helpful during office hours. He explained things well.
The most valuable aspect of the course were the lectures. It was very interactive and fun that I enjoyed coming to class everyday. In addition, the lectures were important because each day there was a new lesson and I always learned something that can be useful for the test or orals.
6. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
Can't think of anything.
i do wish i learned more conversational japanese
Nothing was not valuable in this class. Everything we learned showed up somewhere in test or quizzes or exams. Everthing was very useful.
i don't think so
Sometimes I felt that in class practice deemed useless. Not because it was a bad teaching tool it was that most of the time you would have one student who wanted to practice but their partner did not.
....
None. Everything we learned and all of the tools and handouts that were given to us were extremely useful.
None.
Many of the aspects in this course are important, so I can't pinpoint any unvaluable aspect. I believe that all the aspects of the course are equally important in order to get a better understanding of Japanese and to get the most out of the course.

great teacher
I would always recommend him to other students to take his Japanese 101 class. He's funny, friendly, happy, easy to talk and cares. You could say I see him as a perfect teacher.
he is abailable and good at teaching
Overall review is excellent. I really wish he was my professor next semester. It is sad that UH is losing such a fine teacher and overall good person.
I would definitely recommend this professor to others.
GOOOOooooood
He is a great teacher. He helps his students and gives many great and funny examples of each thing he teaches. He is available everyday after school or via email. and always make an effort to help his students.
Very good teacher. He makes sure everything taught is understandable and his class is very well-organized. Very friendly, makes the class fun and interesting everyday.
He is a great teacher and if he were not leaving to go back to Japan, I would definitely sign up to take another Japanese language course with him. He is a passionate instructor who really wants to help those willing to further their knowledge of the Japanese language and culture. I would highly recommend him as a teacher and anyone who takes his class in the future will learn a lot!
Very good teacher. My interest grew.
Nobuo Kubota is a great Japanese teacher. He's very knowledgeable about the Japanese language that he could answer many of the questions we had in class. Even the random things that we were just curious about. In addition, he was always willing to help students outside of class hours in order to do better on tests or orals. Lastly, I like that he is a very understanding teacher because there were times that I had conflicts that I had to take care of and couldn't come to class. Overall, Nobuo Kubota is an awesome teacher and I would highly recommend him to other students that are interested in learning about the Japanese language.

He needs other costumes besides Buddha and Mario for Halloween!
If it were not for Kubota I do believe I would have given up on learning Japanese but his attitude and eagerness to help gave me the faith that I could learn this hard language. I am glad I decided to stick it out and meet with him on a regular basis. He always answered emails in a timely manner. He took his job as a sensei very seriously. Hope to see him again in the future.
Keep doing what your doing.
My first semester of Japanese was unforgettable. I had a lot of fun while learning about Japanese in class. Sensei Kubota inspired me to work harder and to not give up on learning the Japanese language. Thank you for all the great memories, have fun in Japan, and I hope to see you again in the future. (:
