| I can't see my class mates, so there is no social experience. However, I did
meet some of my class mates during tax volunteering time. |
| There were numerous errors from tests and/or quizzes from the publisher. For the amount of money we have to pay for textbooks, the errors should have been kept to a low minimum.
Sometimes the lectures were a couple of years old, so that would mean that the tax rates were different. |

16. What did you like most about your online course experience?

| When ever I had a hard time learning a chapter, I could go to the video
folder for the chapter and watch Mr. Kamida's lecture. This helped me
understand the material. |
| There was a lot of information available for us to learn the material (i.e. lectures, chapter assignment, quizzes and homework.
Questions were answered very quickly and not once was I ever made to feel like it was a stupid question to ask. Kamida was very professional and went out of his way to provide information for his students. |
| Loved it! especially with Mr. Kamida. This is my second class with him, so that should be self explanatory as to what kind of teacher he is. You know what he expects and you do it. very informative and well put together. No question, I would recommend him to anyone. |

| All the resources and opportunities that Prof. Kamida provided from extra credit (for additional
learning from accounting to other subjects), VITA volunteering, reading material in organized
folders on laulima, video lectures, lectures that explained concepts thoroughly, etc. I liked that he
wanted us to learn by doing our own research and answering our own questions. For example, I
would email him a question, but he would not give me a direct answer, but would guide me on how
and where to get the answer, such as reading the syllabus, looking in laulima for a specific folder.
There was a wealth of knowledge and resources in his laulima page. |

| To be honest not much. The main thing that I liked the least was probably the importance of
reading. I usually do not read, but since this was an online class I had to read. |

I mean I am afraid he can use a scalpel with deft mind and hand, but moderated by his calm voice, I will take the cut in the words, be calm, settle, take in. In between cuts, I can hear, "Ask if you have any questions."
Lastly, Professor answered questions in a timely manner. All in all, the course experience, I felt initially, I was thrown out of plane, but I had a parachute which he figuratively gave me. |

| Like I've always mentioned about other online courses, I like the fact that I have the convenience of completing course material regardless of my location. I could be at home, family/friends house, or even on vacation and I could be responding to class discussions, taking a quiz, or even braving the dreaded exams.
Additionally, I did enjoy the practical exercises and the projects which put much of what we learned into practice. We had the opportunity to apply the learned material and receive feedback from our instructor. These type of practical exercises are quite similar to the taxes that many of us, if not all, will be experiencing when we file our personal income taxes. |

We're able to move foward in our lessons and hw because he posts our hw 2
weeks before the due date so we get to move on. |
| Mr. Kamida really works hard to put this online class together. He gives great online lectures and even goes through step by step in solving problems. He is very on top of responding back to questions and also reminders for the class. His projects were very helpful in real life situations as it applies to any of us students and working adults. Mr. Kamida also seems to have a passion for teaching because he really takes the time to help his class out. The reading material was a lot and even difficult to understand a lot of the time (lot of info) however, the video lectures and video demo problems that supplemented the chapter made this class very interesting and I am very anxious to get into the field of accounting. |

| The flexibility was the best. There was a minimum of one assignment due during the week. The assignments are usually always due on Friday. This allowed me to work with my other schedule and find the best time to sit down and complete the assignment. We had a window of three days to complete the exam. If it was an in-person class, we had to take it that specific day. This class allowed us to choose the best time and take it whenever as long as it was completed by the date and time due. |

For such reason, this particular subject is a really tough subject to learn and understand. With class discussions, students can feel free to ask each other how to do a particular problem if it is quite complicated for them to follow through. It would be best if students got to know each other and communication can help improve a students learning a little better if they are lost in a specific topic of the text. |
| I have only one suggestion. I'm not sure what else is out there, but I didn't really care for the textbook we used. It was very difficult to understand (the wording and the way things were phrased). The text also doesn't seem to have enough examples and stories about real-life governmental accounting situations (stories) that can help us relate better. Also, the only two colors in the entire book are black and white. My financial accounting book and the auditing book I'm currently using both make good use of color-coding, colored diagrams, colored emphasis, etc. They also have an ample amount of examples and little stories that help you see how the material applies in the 'real world'. This book has none of that. |

what I was reading in the text, which was a life saver cause the text was pretty difficult to read. I
found that I had to read practically every sentence at least twice to fully understand what they were

very helpful as well. They helped me figure things out and kept me on the right track to

At that time I was pretty apprehensive about taking an accounting class online, but his teaching
methods and resources he provided made it fairly easy to be successful, so when I saw that he was
offering a class at UHWO I decided to go for it! I was kind of scared at first just because it was a
summer class and those pack in so much work in such a short period of time and also because I had
heard that Governmental Accounting is one of the hardest classes to take, but I because of my past
experiences with Professor Kamida I figured my chances were pretty high of passing. I also got to
volunteer at a VITA program under his supervision and that was a fun and successful experience as

| Like I have mentioned, this course is quite hard even having to understand the book was quite complicated. The textbook chosen wasn't all that interesting because it was in the format of black and white text and no pictures or as much examples given like other accounting textbooks I have bought in the past. I guess the textbook made the subject even tedious than it is. However, I learned a great amount of material, despite how hard it is to remember the journal entries at a fast pace. Overall, this course was straightforward and some quizzes are hard but its a good thing we have several attempts offered to raise our grades. In addition, the exams are all the same format and Professor Kamida is right when he informed us that it'll be harder than the quizzes. I know that the exams are the hardest part of the class itself because random questions are thrown at you and you have not as much time to look for the right answers since it is timed. |
| Being that this was a summer course (accelerated), and the fact that I'm taking two concurrent summer courses and working full-time, this class is pretty challenging. However, Professor Kamida made the material as easy to understand as anyone possibly could. He has really great video lectures and other supplementary material to help in the learning process of a pretty difficult subject. Although I didn't email him with any questions, he made his responses to other students' questions (anonymously) available for us all to benefit from. It appears that he replies very promptly and has an honest desire to teach us well and to help us succeed. |

| The one thing that I liked least was the fact that the course load moved way to fast. In the Summer session I guess it's always like that. If I were a student considering to take this ACC 201 class I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO TAKE THIS DURING THE REGULAR FALL AND SPRING SEMESTERS. That way the course load doesn't move to fast and you at least have some time to study the material. |

| There are so many things I like about this online course experience, but primarily because this class is very organized and structured. You will know exactly what to expect, therefore, saving you time and energy. This class allows you the flexibility of learning on your own time schedule and provides realistic expectations. Communication with Mr. Kamida was excellent and he goes above and beyond timely communication--I don't think you will find anyone else that responds to emails faster than Professor Kamida. I appreciated having been able to utilize the same textbook from ACC 134. Mr. Kamida could have made us purchase the 2011 version, but he was thoughtful to save us money by having us turn in tax reports from our 2010 textbook. A pleasant surprise for me was that I almost can appreciate the enjoyment you can get from completing a tax return -- something I never thought I could do. Thank you Mr. Kamida. |

Mr. Kamida has utilized Laulima so there are many resources for students, and especially helpful are his online video lectures. because it lacks the immediate face to face interactions with the professors that is very
valuable to learning a difficult subject like accounting. Especially when learning a difficult
chapter, it is tough to really grasp the material when doing it on my own. |
| The one thing I disliked was the numerous extra credit assignments at LCC.
I'm a full-time student at UH Manoa and work 30 plus hours a week. There is
no way I can attend an on-campus extra credit assignment at noon or in the
morning.

on campus extra credit opportunity. |

| Although it is clear Mr. Kamida understands his material, the instructor came across as possessing limited insight towards adult learner objectives, especially the added challenges of juggling multiple high priorities at work, school and home. For example, the instructor's comments in response to an isolated real-life emergency appeared thoughtless and narrow of scope, lacking sincere interest in this student. As a result of the emergency, a one-day extension on an assignment was requested and granted but not without after having been made to feel that the request was a mismanagement of time, rather than the emergency that it truly was. It was stunning to receive what was perceived as a callous response from an educator to whom monies are paid for his instruction. Relationship building is crucial for success in all areas of life. The challenge of an online classroom does not remove the need to build these relationships, but rather is even more critical in ensuring communication leads to student success. A lack of individual interest from the instructor can have a long-term, negative effect on a student's interest and ultimate success throughout the course. |

I was able to apply to the real world, what I learned about financial statements, stocks and other principles of accounting in this course. I have a better understanding of how to read a company's financial statement and make better decisions. I would strongly suggest taking an accounting course from Mr. Kamida, especially if it is your first time taking accounting or you need a refresher. I also liked the fact that Mr. Kamida utilized Laulima to keep post messages relevant to the class assignments and other important information that needed the students attention. |

I also liked that Mr. Kamida was always available by email if I had any questions. |

In addition, this course has taught me the economical impact governmental accounting has on our society. Prior to this course, I didn't think much about governmental accounting. However, after taking this course I have realized that understanding how the government is funded and how they expend resources effects everyone, both nationally and internationally. I understand now why there are increases in taxes and the need for good representation in our government. |

I also hated not having a glossary in the book. Whenever I needed to look up a term or try to find the page that a particular equation was on I had to literally go and re-read what was in each chapter or read all of the glossary's at the end of each chapter. I like the idea of having cheaper books but the majority of students are going to go on to the next accounting class so it would be nice to have the option to just buy the entire book. |

| Learning aspects of tax laws that are directly attributable to your personal life and on the job. Practical aspects like learning how to fill out a Schedule C for business or Schedule E for rental income is very valuable. Also, the amount of the work load for this course is nicely spaced out. |
