1. What did you especially like/dislike about the way the instructor taught this course?

Mr. Takebayashi gave clear examples on how to complete a certain task on labs and projects. He provides positive feedback and is willing to assist students to complete projects.

Vern is very knowlegable about the subject and will sit down with students to solve problems.

He clearily explained his motivations for teaching one model of web app development (ruby/gwt/sql) over another (php/sql)

2. What else would you like to say about this instructor/course?

I highly recommend students to enroll in courses being taught by Mr. Takebayashi. I hear students complain that computer programming is hard but Mr. Takebayashi made this course fun and interesting.

3. Would you recommend this instructor to other students? Why or why not?

I highly recommend students to take courses being taught by Mr. Takebayashi because he made the subject fun and interesting. In rare occasions, he'll talk about the importance of effective communication when working in a group to complete a project. I found thus information very important.

22. How did the instructor show concern for students?

After he shows the class what to do, he asks the class if anybody is lost, and if any one is lost, he helps them out.

Whenever Mr. Takebayashi introduces a new assignment he goes through it step by step with the class on the overhead or on the board and if anyone is having problems, he will ask if the students need help and assist them to make sure we are on track before continuing on with his lecture.

He demonstrated all the worksheets in class, and he also explained it well.

During his lectures he would stop and ask if the class is doing ok. He would walk around to see if there was anyone in the class who is confussed.

He helped us when we needed help.

He always made sure any questions were answered if anyone had any.

He is able to help everyone on the class assignments.

By taking the time to individually help the students who were obviously confused.

he stops in the middle of lectures and actually helps us out

He shows his concerns by helping each student that did understands the material within the class period and goes and teaches one on one each student the material and you can tell he enjoys teaching and helping his students achieve

He always made sure that if we had questions or needed help, we'd get the answers to it. He was easily reached by email.

He always ask if we need help and if we didn't he would see us one by one an help us individually till we understand.

He takes time after lectures and helps individuals who were slower to catch the lesson

He was always there for help in class and out of class. He made sure that the class was on tract and understood the material taught.

23. What did you especially like/dislike about the way the instructor taught this course?

I liked that Mr. Takebayashi show us step by step what to do on computer application and that he has showed us a variety of programs.

I enjoyed his way of teaching the course. He moves at about the right pace and always makes sure that we understand what he is teaching us.

I like the way he explaining thing because he gave more example and made it really interesting.

I liked the fact that he taught us step by step while operating on the projector screen.

Sometimes I felt a though he explained things to quickly and when using the overhead projector i could NOT keep up. Its hard to try and do what he is doing if he goes toooo fast. Just needs to slow down the step by step instructions so everyone can stay current on what he is doing.

He made it very easy to follow along with. As long as you came to class and paid attention.

He helped everyone that struggled on the assignments

He kept things very interesting via the difficulty of what was learned. I feel like i didnt waste my time.

I liked his patience with teaching his students and his character that he harries himself with. Makes a very good learning environment..

He gives real world examples of his lessons to help the students understand the lessons

I really like that he was there to guide us through our assignments.

Vern is a a good guy, but he moves absolutely way to fast. I spent most of the semester trying to keep up. And when I tried to stop him by raising my hand it was like he didn't even notice. I felt like I wanted to head butt the computer at the end of 75% of my classes. I sent an email trying to ask to be excused from my absenses do to a kidney stone I never received a reply. I am a punctual student I'm not a kid who's trying to get away with cutting my classes. Not every student is a young computer wiz or a really tech savvy person. I think that's what he needs to understand. Once again I don't thik Vern is a bad person or teacher, I think he just expects everyone to know alot about computers before entering his classroom.

24. What else would you like to say about this instructor/course?

He is a very patient teacher and goes over instruction clearly.

In this course I enjoyed learning about calculating a monthly payment for a loan. It's an important skill to learn and will be helpful for the future.

He is a nice teacher. Not too personable but hey he's here to teach and not socialize i guess.

He clearly knows the information he is teaching about.

I would recommend Mr. Takebayashi to other students because he is an excellent teacher, and teaches many very helpful programs.

Yes I would because he is easy to understand and he is approachable when you have questions during his lecture or questions on the assignments.

I think he just has to keep doing what he does now.

Yes I'd recommend as a teacher. He made sure everyone understood, answered all questions from students before moving on and gave one on one help to whoever needed it.

Yes. His course work is demanding and his exams are difficult but I have learnt so much so I would recommend him to other students.

He makes time for his students,........He is very approachable when you need his help.

Made sure projects and assignment objectives were clear and accomplishable within a given time frame.

Vern always asks the class if there is any questions. Vern is always available either after class or via email to help out with questions/labs/exam/ etc.

He would not finish the class until we haven't learned anything from that day.

I think he is very professional and evaluates very fairly.

Clear and precise.

i liked how he actually went around answering any question we had about the topic

The type of subject that must be taught is very hard to teach to most people. Due to the complex process behind Java, it maybe hard for people to grasp some of the terms. Vern did explain the definition and gave clear explanations. For me, it was just that I can't grasp the concepts fast enough, so it was hard to understand.

I like the teaching style of Vern.

One of the 2 best CENT teachers at HCC.

Absolutely~!

Yes, very patient and always there to explain things to the students. OFFERS HELP and GUIDES/EXPLAINS the ANSWERS (if the student is literally bagging their head on the table). I have had some professors where all they offer is basically ' look it up on -this- ', where it felt like Google was our teacher.

I would recommend Vern to other students because he taught us very well

He is available for help outside of class and tries his best to explain if we don't understand. He would watch us individually at different times to make sure we are doing the right steps and will guide us.

gave us practical assignments that we could use in the future

his course was awesome

He was very clear with teaching us the calculations and related it to practical lab so that we can understand the concept. He never rushes us if we still need help. He also does a good review on the after we take the exam so that we can understand the mistakes and study them for future exams and lab use.

He explained lessons in depth.
