| Great professor! Understands that physics is a hard subject (especially for American kids who
are not required to take physics prior to college) and does his best to making the class
understanding. Hand writing is neat, but his script writing is hard to read. |

to class always prepared and gets along well with the class. He knows it is such a difficult subject to
teach and for students to understand, so he does his best so that we can all have an easier time to

| Professor Sattler is a wonderful professor. I felt physics 170 was a really tough class but he put the
material in a way it was easy to understand. He makes jokes in class so the class isn't boring. He
goes at a speed that is easy to follow and understand. |
| The amount of material you learn in this class is a hefty load but the professor manages to use time
very wisely, stressing the most important points. He also provides some physics related videos or
jokes here and there to liven up the class a bit, making sure we aren't learning as brain dead
zombies. Overall, this class was hard but a hard class taught by an excellent professor. |

problems were challenging. The suggested sample problem helped prepare the students for
the upcoming exams. Professor Sattler seemed to enjoy teaching physics and wanted his
students to like it as well. He motivates his students to do well. He applies real world
situations to the concepts learned in class. |

but Sattler made it fun and interesting. Sometimes he can be hard to understand with his

| It was a good class to take. I think that Professor Sattler gave us a good introduction to Engineering physics and he stressed important information. I felt that at some sections, material was covered in more detail, when it didn't need to be. Overall I thought that Professor Sattler did a good job of teaching Physics 170. | Great teacher! Very funny in his own way and knows a lot about what he is teaching. Though at
some times he can't answer a question but will get back to it another day. The course was
seemingly hard at first until you get a hang of it, it was actually quite easy, though really hard

| He is a great professor who really cares about his students. He made learning a difficult
subject possible. His jokes and mood during class really helped to lighten the stress that
comes with it. He demands excellence yet is understanding that the subject is difficult. He did
not expect us to fully understand a subject that has taken years to understand. His accent and
handwriting at times were a bit difficult to understand but not impossible. I wish he taught
physics 272 and beyond as I would sign up for his class again in a heart beat. As an
engineering student it is crucial for me to understand the material and Professor Sattler made
that possible. |
| Excellent instructor who understands the difficulty of the course content, and does his best to make it as easily understandable as possible. Very well organized and always prepared and on task.
Sometimes content was learned extremely fast, so it was challenging at times to keep up with the course. But the homework, quizzes, and tests all help reinforce each chapter well (conceptual and problem solving.)

| I cannot read his handwriting. It usually starts off good at the beginning of the class and then progressively gets harder to read along the way. Also, he goes quite fast through his lectures and erases the boards too fast so you can't finish copying his notes some of the times. |

sattler is by far one of the best professors i've
yet to taken a class from. Amazing. Only thing i disagree with
is his quiz/test/homework schedule. Good idea putting them all so close, but
almost no point in having the quiz the day before the test because we wont
know what it is we need to work on to get a passing grade on the test.

| With the volume of material that had to be covered, the instructor made good use of the little amount of time to cover the material. The class material was very valuable to prepare students for exams. |
| For a very hard subject, with lots of information to be learned in a short amount of time, I think prof. Sattler did a good job. I don't feel that the class and the lecture notes were very engaging, more like overwhelming, but as mentioned earlier I think dealing with the circumstances of the course I think it was taught in the best way it could be. |
| He gave us equation sheets for each test which was awesome. But I think in the future it would be more useful for students to be able to make their own equation sheets. In addition to organizing equations in a way that may make more sense to the student, making the sheet itself is a good study method and helps students learn and retain how different equations learned are related to each other so that they can more efficiently solve physics problems both for the homework sets and on the tests.
In general I liked the course and is one of the most useful and informative classes I've taken at UH. Class was fun and, unlike in many of my other classes, I think class time was used efficiently and purposefully so that I wanted to come to class in order to get a better understanding of the material. |

| Professor Sattler was more than efficient in explaining difficult concepts. His homework, exams, and quizzes were challenging but his enthusiasm for the subject motivated me to push myself in his class. His friendly and up-beat personality made class enjoyable, yet I always took it seriously. I would recommend him to any student as he clearly and thoroughly explains topics and provides relevant examples. I do wish he provided more practice problems throughout the course. Having an entire textbook filled with problems, it's difficult to choose which to practice on a demanding time schedule. A set of optional practice problems would have been nice. Also, he only reviewed previous material at the end of the course. It would have been nice to have those mini-reviews in the beginning as well, as all the material builds on the introductory concepts. Otherwise, wonderful professor!! One of the best I've had as UH. |

| He sometimes gets a little off topic but definitely keeps the class interesting and entertaining by bringing in information from real-life situations in which the concepts being covered are relevant. Tests are reasonable and the examples given during class are relevant and helpful in preparing for such the tests. The class was balanced, and while things moved quickly such that topics were learned and then "left behind" (not cumulative), review was done enough to help refresh the topics already covered. |

| Homework shouldn't be due right before the test. The homework should be due well before the test and be handed back as soon as possible so that we get feedback and can review the homework to better prepare ourselves for the test. |

At first I was having difficulty with the class but gradually I began to learn more so it became easier. Professor Sattler genuinely looks out for his students and goes out of his way to help his students both succeed and learn. Given the chance I would very much like to take a class from him again. |
| he is a real TEACHER, which is refreshing after taking so many classes from other researchers who don't care about how they communicate material or if it's effective. class was organized around concepts followed by examples, which was great. he didn't waste class time showing how every equation was derived. it would be helpful to give a set of review problems before tests, esp midterm and final, since the homework was often quite different from the tests. i felt lost as to how to prepare for tests; however, he seemed to meet us in the middle the last few tests and give brief reviews the day before--this was very helpful. maybe give ~2 more homework problems per set. otherwise, hard to know what to practice for tests. i like the way he structured tests every 2 weeks--this was well thought out. it was good to test immediately after learning the material rather than only having 2-3 huge tests in the semester. the concept quizzes helped our grades and were a nice contrast to the problem-solving tests. i like that he didn't use mastering physics online and kept all our work in the classroom. that website is no good for learning. i am also glad he didn't use the iclickers much. people cheat on these anyway and give them to their friends and skip class. he created a respectful learning environment and moved at a manageable pace.
only one thing needs to be improved: hire a quicker grader! grader's test grading was a bit harsh.
we all loved his jokes--he is very smart and realizes we needed to laugh sometimes, when grappling with this difficult material. also, it was very good that he gave a mid-semester evaluation so we could give him feedback how we felt about the class. he applied our comments immediately--this is what a very good teacher does. something i meant to write in that evaluation: it is very good how he says out loud what he is writing on the board, i.e., when writing word problem examples, definitions, etc. that way, you can take notes smoothly and keep up without having to look up or wait for him to finish writing and move to the side. this is ingenious and i wish all teachers did it. i've spent many classes waiting to see the board and then scrambling to write it all down. i thought sattler was the best teacher i've taken from here at uhm. i wish he were teaching 272. he also had a very pleasant demeanor--very calm and positive. this made it easier to learn from him. what an awesome last day of class--loved ending it on a fun note. thank you! |

| This class was definitely worth it. Professor Sattler made physics very enjoyable to learn even though it was a tough class. He is one of the best professors I've had so far. |

| Very interesting and worthwhile class. I thoroughly enjoyed PHYS274 because of the way Prof. Sattler taught his class. The lectures are clear, concise, and straightforward; the schedule every week is consistent to avoid confusion; the homework load is very reasonable; and the quizzes and tests measure our knowledge accurately (easy to pass if we came to class and studied, but very difficult if we didn't study). I highly recommend everyone to take this class from Prof. Sattler. |
| Some of the quiz questions are debatable. I've read chapters and still did horrible on the quizzes, but maybe I didn't read it quite thoroughly. Other than, course is well developed. It followed and lectured the materials listed on the syllabus. I really enjoyed how you'd relate people/life experience into the subject. Humor on difficult subjects is definitely a plus. : ) |

| Best physics instructor I have ever had, that's no exaggeration most teachers i had just spat out the math behind it but Sattler knows who to make it relevant and exciting to learn. |

| The work for this course would have been much more beneficial if there were more time between having items assigned and when they were due. |
| I realize it's quantum physics, but I could have used more explanation of the whys and hows. There also seemed to be a lot of material to get through so not only was there not much time to ask questions (not the professor's fault) but topics such as general relativity got cut right out.
However Professor Sattler did make the material entertaining and enlightening in the time he was given. I enjoyed this class far more than I imagined I would prior. |
