13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
She makes you want to participate in our class discussions by giving us interesting cases we had to write memos for. She gives us more than enough examples to help us all understand what exactly she wants.
She is a very good professor. Gave quality feedback on all assignments and quizzes. If something was not clear, she was patient and explained it again to everyone so that everyone understood what was expected.
She is very thorough. Her methods of teaching are excellent. She is very organized with the agendas for each class. Students know what to expect and aren't left wondering what to study or how to do something.
She reads our memos and other paperworks very thoroughly.
She has great knowledge of legal writing. She also very helpful and her lecture was clear organized.
Professor Wang knew the course fairly well, explained the different types of legal writing formats, and gave examples.
She is very thorough, kind, organized, clear.
Knowledgeable
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
The expectation or format for few of the writing assignments could be provided earlier. More citation practices.
No changes.
I'm not sure if so much emphasis needs to be focused on the outlines. Maybe for others, but I just didn't find that aspect of the class to be that beneficial.
If she could utilize Laulima for example posting her course materials (powerpoint presentations) and resources online instead of printing them.
I liked writing things out on the board, but It got boring at times, maybe find different methods of teaching us the IRAC method so we don't always have to write it on the board.
Post format/criteria of each assignment before assignment is due. Currently, format/criteria was posted after the assignments were due.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She got back to me promptly after email and she says when we need to turn in assignments, not only can we turn it in to her at school but to her work office as well if needed. I felt comfortable asking her questions about assignments.
She gave timely feedback on all assignments, and had individual meeting with every student to go over assignments.
She always asked if anyone had questions, was available through email, after class, etc.
She always ask if we have questions and welcome us to ask any small questions.
Professor Wang was concerned when students missed her class, allowed those students to get the information from classmates, explained things when things weren't clear for the class.
She was available to us, always asked if we had questions. Was approachable. Was timely in emailing us back. She really took her time to grade our papers, and gave excellent, thorough feedback.
Consistently available through email, after class.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes. I was scared of her writing intensive class and seeing all the things she was asking for, but she explains things pretty clearly and gives more hen enough time for us to get the papers done.
Yes, she is caring, patient, and does her best to teach her students.
Yes. She is a great professor and my writing skills are stronger now that I have taken her course.
YES! I appreciate her style: the way she informs students of what will be covered for class, during class, and for the next class.
Yes.
Yes, I strongly recommend to students. I have learned tons of things in this class. She is a great instructor. Her explanation is very clear and easy to follow. I really liked her class.
I would recommend Professor Wang to students because you learn the foundations of legal writing, and she also has guest speakers who are knowledgable in the field that can help you learn what you are going to be dealing with in the real world.
Yes, you will come out of it with a good handle on the skill of legal writing.
Yes. Knowledgeable, good learning experience.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Very nice and knowledgeable teacher. She kept things interesting because we did not only learn how to write legally but we also learned through various guest speakers what people as well as judges expect of us as paralegals, the roads we might go down to find what type of work we want to get in to and how to be taken seriously in the jobs we do.
Keep up the great teaching!
The paralegal program needs more instructors like her!
She is very nice and calm teacher. I was able to learn comfortably in her class.
I feel like I learned a lot in her class.
18. Other comments:
I appreciate the details in her grading. I know I'm leaving her class with the knowledge of how to compare and contrast cases, the IRAC method, writing briefs, IO memos, and persuasive memos. She is a wonderful teacher!
I wish she taught other law classes! I would love to take her class.
Thank you!
Legal writing is a tough course to cover in a span of one semester. I would suggest providing more Writing Intensive courses. Great learning experience and my writing improved because of this course. Would like more courses similar or like it to improve paralegal skills.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Since Professor Wang also taught at the law school, it was rather a privilege to have her teaching at the Paralegal Program. We are very fortunate to have her at Kapiolani Community College.
Strong lectures. Strong knowledge of the legal field. Passionate about her Paralegal career.
She knew the subject matter well. She made Legal writing easier to understand when her students had to work on several different legal document drafts. She encouraged her students to ask questions and to participate in the class lectures and activities.
Clarity
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
When we exchange papers for editing with other students, it may be helpful to do it with different students every time. Doing it with the same people all the time did not help much towards the end of semester. We can learn more with seen more papers and examples, just a suggestion!
I suggest to Livia Wang to slow down a little during class lectures.
Please change the fake case scenario. It was hard to work on those legal documents and include three actual cases into the argument sections of some of the legal documents you had us work on this semester.
None
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Professor Wang was available via email or by phone if students needed her assistance.
She told us whenever we needed help with anything to either email or call her on her cell phone.
She would see how we were doing with our work. She also adjusted the time a bit that we'd end class for students who live a far distance from the Kapiolani Community College Campus.
Teaching well
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes, Professor Wang will help students to develop legal writing in a way that will gradually build students' writing in the Paralegal profession. The course allows students form succinct arguments for and against a case throughout the course.
I would highly recommend Livia Wang to other students, because you'll learn a lot in her class and she really knows what she is talking about.
Yes I would because she knew how to break down the structure of the legal documents we worked on and she made it all easier for all of us to understand. She also worked with us, while we dealt with the fake case scenario, so we wouldn't get confused or lost. I appreciate all of the side comments she'd write on our drafts and it made my legal documents so much better.
Yes
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Please provide an opportunity of extra credit to push up our grade- with the current point system, if you get a lower grade in the first exercise, you will no longer have a chance to bounce back to get an A.
She's a good teacher.
18. Other comments:
Thank you so much, we really learned a lot!!
no more.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
she is very patient
She is very kind and always gives good suggestions in how you can improve.
Very informative, helpful, has great comments on how to improve writing.
How she encourages us to work on our writing, by editing the papers ourselves, and for each other. But also lots of guidance of what is expected for a legal document.
She was very organized and knowledgeable.
Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Very good teacher.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Nothing comes to mind now but I will let you know if I think of anything! :)
Explicit rubric for the big assignments, so we know why points are taken off.
I would suggest discussing the breakdowns of how she plans to grade an assignment, before the assignment is due. This makes it easier to know exactly what is expected so that there's no confusion on what should've been included in the assignment---which there sometimes is.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She has one on one meetings with every student.
Always asked if anybody needed help, talked to students, one on one on certain occasions, helped us step by step.
She is always asking for our feedback in class. Making sure we understand something, before moving on.
She reassured us that we can ask her questions on assignments etc. during/after class.
If someone doesn't show up she still asks us if we will see that person so that we can give them a copy of the handouts we received that day, and instructions on how to do the homework.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
yes. She is very knowledgeable and fair.
Yes! Absolutely!
Yes, she makes what would be a difficult class, relatively painless.
Yes, she is very knowledgeable and helpful. You will benefit from all the information taught in her class.
Yes definitely. I learned a lot, especially what some attorneys and judges would expect from us. I liked all the visitors we had too.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Great instructor, in the beginning I was scared about the class but she showed us how simple it can be with just a little bit of work. I enjoyed her class!
She is a great professor, very easy to talk to and we all had fun in her class!
18. Other comments:
I noticed that she gives out a lot of handouts. I would suggest---1) She can upload the handouts to Laulima, then everyone can print it out themselves. It saves her money, and if someone doesn't show up they can still get the handout online. Also, if she continued to teach the same class every semester, she would only need to add new material or remove outdated stuff. 2) In another class, a teacher asked us to donate $18, what was believed to be the cost of the paper spent. It would go towards making copies of all the materials given to us every week--and it was a good investment because it was cheaper than buying a book.
