13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
is will verse in the subject feild.
Mr. clearly has a lot of experience teaching Chinese. His teaching style is excellent and structured the homework, lectures, and tests very well.
Strengths - Very kind and positive teacher, makes learning fun - Very helpful and understands students viewpoints Weakness - Perhaps keep a better track of time, especially on quiz/test days
Many students in the class had varying knowledge of the language. Prof. Wen is able to motivate and challenge at their individual pace. Every individual student knows how hard they work. Prof. Wen pushes us to do our individual best.
He is a very friendly teacher who is obviously very dedicated in the advancement of his students. He offers help to those who need it and keeps students from struggling with their work, despite how hard it can be for some to learn a language (such as myself).
He always provides the great learning environment where students can feel comfortable. For example, when I speak to everyone and have mistake, he gives me feedback quickly and gives me praise. This encourages me to learn a new language. I was able to make mistake without anxiety, which supports me to have confidence.
Strengths: approachable, friendly, knowledgeable, flexible, understanding, and creative.
The ability to know his students strengths and abilities
I guess I could say, humble, answers every student's questions and concerns; thorough. An enjoyable and fun class to be honest.
He does well on his presentation of his lesson uses lots of different senarios and tries to help us understand what he is saying by speaking clearly and repeating himself I like that he is so polite and patient with the clss.
Professor Wen is a great teacher who helps students, teaches well, and makes the class fun. He is a very kind teacher and he is available with help at any time. Very helpful on the content and very knowledgeable about it. I got off at a bad start, and Prof. Wen helped me get back on track. Definitely one of the best teachers I have had.
He teaches Chinese using different ways, like powerpoint, online resources (learning games), and teaching manually by writing on the board. He goes over every sentence that applies to the test and in real life speaking-Chinese. He provides help to students that he thinks needs help.
Makes learning atmosphere well.
his strengths as a teacher were being able to gather everyone in the class to participate during the lesson. i don't think all teachers are able to to that unless if the class is really enjoyable. the class was extremely enjoyable. Good clear explanations of Chinese words. a very positive attitude to all his students and also a caring teacher who encourages students to work harder everytime.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
I do not have any suggestions at this time.
Have Chinese tutors in the class to assist you
Students who cheat, only cheat themselves. Watch for tests/quizzes.
The power point slides should include pinyin with new words to help with faster learning of correct pronunciation. Also, I think it would be helpful to know how to more easily identify when someone is speaking Mandarin and when someone as speaking Cantonese, as the the two are both commonly heard.
Not much, well, to be honest the homework system needs to be keep tracked other than that, none.
yes He is a wonderful professor
I would change the time of test and quizzes. A little more time will help.
a little more time on chapter exams.
Be more strict. I see so much students on their phones during class right in front of him, and he doesn't really do anything about it. That is disrespectful. If it was me teaching, I would ask them to leave and do that elsewhere.
There is no need for any change he can do. Everything is fine in the class. I would say he's a great teacher!
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
will take out time in his schdule to help students.
He offers each student an equal opportunity in the class and wishes for each student to succeed and learn the language efficiently.
Provided extra information to help enhance our learning experience
Comments on students who talk too much, arrive late, miss class, miss homework, and sleep. By mentioning these things in Chinese, we understand what he is saying and the students work to improve there behavior.
Yes, he always made sure his students were able to follow along and understand the lesson material.
He recognizes that students have other responsibilities in life other than school work, and hence was very flexible in regards to homework submissions, and tests. He is also very good at judging the level of difficulty per chapter for the class and would adjust his teaching methods and or time spent for the particular chapter so that the students would be able to maximize their time and energy.
motivating, not pressuring
Answers the student's questions, encourages students to participate, and makes sure the students are studying for upcoming quizzes and tests.
He always emphasizes on our welbeing and he tries to help us with anything we have difficulty understanding. I specificly recall not being able to come to class because I was very ill and he had sent me what I missed and gave me a chance to make it up which helpped me out a lot
Very greatly. He tells you exactly what you need to know and what assignments are due.
He allowed students who never finished exams to go to his office to finish. He reminded students to finish back-work and to look over all the online sources to help enhance our Chinese.
by making students responsible for their action such as missing class. He would often question but he always gave a positive attitude when talking to students.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?

Yes. He is a very caring teacher among students. He knows the content very well and he can teach it to others very well.
I will recommend professor Wen to other students because he teaches Chinese very well and is very organized, chapter by chapter. He is nice and he helps students with whatever they need help with to make their Chinese better. He also gives students a lot of review time before quizzes and tests. During the test, he repeats the question many times.
yes i would recommend taking Zhijun Wens class. Its a writing intensive class but he sure knows how to make it enjoyable. For just 4 days 55 minutes a day that i took isn't so bad.

18. Comment on the instructor's professional attitude and behavior.
no comment has to professional attitude and behavior that shows professionalism
Very Proffesional.
He was friendly in the way any good mentor is. He engaged his students in a very lively mood every morning and encouraged us to continuously try hard and improve. I have never had an easy time learning foreign language. I have tried both French and Thai and have not retained anything from either language, yet after taking this class I have constantly tried improving on my lingual abilities and feel much more confident in my ability to learn a new language and I owe that to my teacher.
Zhijun is very professional inside and outside of the classroom.
great attitude and compassionate about his students and job
Very nice, cool, energetic, smooth.
Very professional and very kind. Always caring about students.
Teaching attitude is very good.
he displayed a good professional attitude towards his students. He showed good concern when students are missing out in class and to students who are missing class work. its my first time in college and he showed a great difference of college teachers towards high school teachers.
19. Comment on the instructor's concern for the students.
As mentioned in a previous summary he makes sure that all of his students are engaged in the lesson and don't fall behind. He helps those who needs help and the only way someone could possibly not make it through the class would be by never showing up. I wasn't very confident when I started the class that I would be able to keep up but with the teacher's help I have been able to learn the material and I feel when the next semester starts that I will be ready to learn more!
Zhijun is a wonderful teacher who is very concerned with the progress of his students' studies, integrity, and responsibility.
He does it with sincerity
Listens to students and gives them chances, fair.
Always available for any students in need of extra help.
he would often tell students what they are missing. although he has late work policy he still accepts them which is great.

positive. I highly recommend Zhijun to students who are interested in studying Chinese.
Great! On a scale of 1 through 10 I would say an 8. The two missing points are from the homework schedule.
If I had to put zhijun on a scale of 1-10 he is a solid 12
Professor Wen is definitely a great teacher. He goes beyond the duty of teaching and actually helps students in need.
Being the first professor i started with in KCC. i can say that i had an enjoyable course in your class. i expected Chinese to be more difficult but rather than that you made it more enjoyable.
22. My overall evaluation of this course is...
an excellent course.
Chinese 101 was a challenging yet fun course. It is one of my favorites at KCC so far. I enjoyed learning to write Chinese characters and pushing my limits and going beyond my comfort zone by speaking, singing, interviewing in Chinese with other classmates.
Excellent, if one puts in the effort
Very difficult. One hour a day is not enough. I will study the material over the break.
A great class that can help prepare you for any walk of life that may require Chinese lingual and cultural knowledge. This was definitely a good and fun way to start learning Mandarin and I can't wait for the next semester's worth of classes!
positive. I am learning a lot and for the first time in my life, am enjoying studying a new language.
