23. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I liked his slide show presentations. It helped me to have a clearer image of what we were learning. The group discussions also helped a lot. Brainstorming with a group helps you to stay motivated throughout the course.
Learning about global climate change and the negative effects it has been causing. Thought-provoking and interesting topic.
The different videos
Doing the chapter quizzes. They helped me alleviate my understanding visually and mentally. Easily understandable work.
All his slides in his PowerPoint and his study guides on test and exams
Chapter Quizes are taken online with a "save feature." mid-term and final exam study guides are given to help students know what to study for.
His grading system and what i learned
I liked the whole online quiz thing because I work so it makes it more conveinient for me. I am able to work it around my schedule.
The professor was reachable outside of class. He responds back to emails immediately. This course really broaden my scope on the outside world around me.
He works hard to encourage students to see the world geography.
24. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
I felt as if we as students needed more time for discussion. Some things seemed unclear along the way.
The computer and TV was always malfunctioning and took a while to set up at the beginning of every class.
The long non interactive lectures
None. Everything went really well. He is a really nice teacher.
Learning the different areas populations and their way of life
picking a subject topic for the semester course project. It can be anything about the course, but also do-able and can meet the instructors requirements. This makes it hard for some students since they cant make up their own topic. Highly recommend a list of topics to choose from, or create one on their own with instructor's approval.
His explanations and lectures
Some of the lectures were too long. I wish we had more visuals.
Everything was good!
His goal of students for the course was unclear.
25. My overall evaluation of this course is...
I enjoyed my time in this course. It was a fair course from the start. Enough work and enough play.
Great teacher. Open minded and helpful.
It's alright
Mr. Miyake and his teachings are very mutual. As long as you do all of the quizzes online and attend class, you will get to where you want. I highly recommend taking his class for GEOG 102. He's a really cool teacher and he does well motivating others to do work without fail. Awesome instructor!
He's super considerate and thoroughly nice
B- course is easy to take but not too hard to drop. Not too much extra credit opportunities is given and not a lot of options for a "group project." Watching videos are also educational, and activities such as small group exercises are also educational.
Im satisfied with the course but if i was to rate the class out of 10, id rate it a 6
I give it a B+ Professor Miyake is a great instructor. I just had a hard tiem following along with some of the power points and lectures.
10/10
26. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
He should be more strict on his rules from the syllabus. His english is getting better, which is a good thing. Overall good and fun course.
I think it could use improvement on how the classrooms technology is set up.
You could use more engaging activities, more group work and more interesting topics
Better class communication and nothing more than a good instructor.
The course could improve more by having the tv screen work more effectively in the beginning of class
The grading done by the professor seems a bit to lenient. Why should I put the extra effort in this class if my fellow student can receive the same grade as me if this student turns in assignments late.
Incorporate a group semester project of 2 or 3 members since "two or more minds are greater than one" and modify the project so that students can choose a topic from a list given, or create one of their own but upon instructors approval. keep giving online quizzes and group exercises as well as videos.
The slide shows need to be more accurate and explain more.
There should be more visuals and more group interaction. I learned better through group interactions.
I can't! I truly don't believe this course needs improvemnt.
I very liked the personality of professor, and the ways of his thoughts, but if the course lessons could be more clear, it would be better. I was't so sure what the major goal of the course and lessons were. So if he provides his idea of course and lessons to students, it should be better.

Outstanding Course
For a six week session perhaps the project should be scaled back a little.

Great teacher!
My favorite course this semester. I really love this teacher. He is an awesome and fun guy. I love the videos and really appreciate his leniency for turning in late work. I would recommend his class for others!
We love you sensei!
Good course, I wish it was a bit more about the earthquakes (kobe and tohoku) since that's what was advertised.
I guess I'm naive about how much pertains to the subject of geography but I was hoping to learn more about geographical features, places, etc of Japan as opposed to historical ways in which the country built on land and different planning styles to build cities. I felt as if a majority of the class material didn't quite pertain to geography and was more of a city planning type of class. However Yoshi Sensei is super cool and has a good sense of humour. He knows what he's talking about and I would definitely take another class from him.
