He is so helpful, fair, and knowledible about his area.

well organized course, Mr. Polley was able to expose us to the different aspects of linguistics within the short 6 weeks that we had, and made sure we were grasping the concepts. he also commented thoroughly on assignments and clarified where we could use improvement and where we did well

15. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?

I don't see any suggestions for changes... He is awsome.

16. How did the instructor show concern for students?

Whenever he emails me/us, he always says "Please ask me anything when you have a question!" Also, He takes time to go through all of our assignments to give us feedback. I can tell he doesn't just only give grades. He sees us in details.

mr polley made himself readily available for anyone who needed help or clarification on anything.

17. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?

Yes! First, he is very helpful to learn. He is always with us. Also, he is passionate for his area, and knowledgble.

Thank you very much for your lecture. It wasn't easy to keep up with all assignments, but I felt you are always with us, it helped me to keep my pace to think about contents in linguistic, and finish up those assigmnents.

Your HW and Final essay are too much hard.

I didn't get a chance to think about language so much,but I realized how I'm interested in learning language. Although I've been putting aside to learn my third language, I think it's time to start. Thank you for great opportunity to think about both linguistic and myself!

He is a great teacher!`

He encourage his student to participate.

He help every students to have a chance to participate in the class weekly discussion and improve their writing.

He always encourages us to be organized, completing our assignments early on so we have more time to focus on the more important assignments along the way. He's always constantly reminding us of what is needed to be done so we won't forget.

He utilized the internet and other technologies which made this class not as stressful. Was very flexible with due dates which alleviated some stress from my work and family duties. Carl is one of those rare teachers that genuinely understands a student's plight and will work with the student - there are too many others who just don't care at all.

He explains in details of every assignment that we have to do.

He announced the assignments on time

14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?

no.

He should grade his assignment promptly.

It would be better if the grades for each assignment come out as soon as possible.

he gives us chances to re-do homeworks. There was great!

He reply his mail promptly.

Always setting up reminders for us and telling us to e-mail him anytime if we need help for anything.

Always replied to my emails and also gave me time extensions as well as forgave my late assignments when the term just started.

Always reply to our email as soon as he can.

He had us do peer feedbacks and helped us with questions

yes, i will.

Yes. I would recommend Carl Polley to students because he is a good teacher.

I like them but the Stone one was a long read. It got to a point in school and work that it was be late for the assignment or just not sleep.

To make sure my journals were on time and more details instead of opinions

Carl's strength was that he responded to questions and concerns that students had fairy quickly. He also knew the subject area well enough to see where we might struggle and be able to offer suggestions and tips on where to research for more information. He was able to guide us in a productive direction.

I think he is good at teaching, but im taking his online class, and i think he is quite nice.

He is a kind-hearted teacher and card about his students. He gave me good suggestions about writing and provided good material to help me write my paper. He is also a undertanding person, who gave us enough time to write our paper.

Carl Polley is a great teacher, eventhought this is online class, but i still can learn alot,he always give me alot of comment to help me. and he like people asking question, his very nice...

He is an excellent teacher who knows his subject matter extremely well. He encourages extracurricular learning and fosters an atmosphere that is very warm and welcoming.

At the beginning, I was a little bit confuse about the class assignments. As time went on, I knew how to deal with them.

Carl Polley always give out anouncement on Laulima website for student keep track of whats going on for this online class :)

He encourage students to particpate more and allow us and him to discuss more about the topic of the course.

He always encouraged students to post questions in a forum if we needed help. If we needed any further help or assistance from him, he always gave out his e-mail address for us to e-mail our questions directly to him. He was very quick to reply to our questions that we had.

Carl answered my questions in detail on the question board in Laulima and responded my e-mail so quickly.

He displayed an understanding of the troubles we sometimes faced as busy adults, and treated us as such. He also provided information that he believed would be helpful to our research, which was a big help.

For posting my comment on the board every week, it lets me can communicate with others better.

I enjoyed the class being online. It allows me the freedom to do the classwork at my leisure. I find online classes more convenient as well. I am not restricted to being at a certain place at a specified time to hear the lecture. It allows me to work at my own time and around my schedule.

WRITTING SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CHINESE LITERURE

I learned lot more about Chinese culture, poem, poet and other. Many of the them I never heard of it, they contain very meaningful lesson.

Buying the course textbook has been enough for me. I am a semi-voracious reader, and when I have time, I like to read through the Chinese Literature Anthology. From this book I have been able to pull all sorts of new philosophies, and have begun to apply them to myself.

Knew the subject area really well. The way he teaches assisted my learning.

He really knew his subject are well and always was helpful in answereing any questions pertaining to the subject being taught

Prof. Polley is well versed in the field of Chinese literature. He not only provides a thorough explanation of the texts but also provides contextual references that allow the student to better learn the material.

He is a well-prepared teacher and good at analysing chinese literature even he is not chinese.
