The book was very easy to understand.
You learn a lot of new things throughout the course that it's impossible not to learn a lot of information. The teacher was very accommodating which made the class enjoyable. The teacher was also demonstrated great knowledge of the material and even went into extra points that helps with the material.
focus on speaking chinese
everything
I felt like I knew the vocabulary portion very well.
Class oral practice
Grammar points
Learning cultural norms and conversational skills.
Everything, the gift giving
I felt the quizzes every 3 days was very valuable for me to memorize and to know the chinese characters. Also when the professor reads over the textbook with us and explains it. I am then able to understand the sound of the characters and of the dialogue.
6. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
The constant quizzes and tests and overload of work
There was a whole lot of work throughout the course which I feel is very detrimental to the grade even if you do every assignment. This class is very exhausting and definitely one of the classes I had to work the hardest for.
some of the textbook exercises we could have done without (e.g. comprehension questions on the dialogues)
nothing
I didn't really do well in the listening comprehension portion
Too much homework
None.
None
I didn't really like the workbook part of it. It seems like I don't really learn much from just doing the workbook.

16. Other comments:
There was way too much homework and quizzes/tests.
This teacher is a very nice person and is patient and understanding of students who do not get things right away. I would recommend having her as a teacher again.

Liu Laoshi is a great teacher who is willing to answer questions and is readily available to help us out. She is also incredibly supportive of any other activities that are outside of the Chinese department and is supportive when students have problems and outside commitments.
Liu Laoshi was super awesome. She brought in Chinese cultural things to gve away to the class if we answered questions in Chinese correctly. She has a good grasp on Enlish as well. She is such a good teacher and goes over the grammar points well.

Professor Nian Liu was an awesome teacher. The way she presented the material was really straight forward. I really benefited from the class and learned a huge chunk of Chinese. Also the fact that she took a chance on me when I got in the class with a placement by letting me borrow her textbook and workbooks to catch up with the rest of the class. I really appreciated that.
