8. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
Less group more, more help with important paper work.
Great course, excellent instructor. The only suggestion I could make is to expand it to a (3) unit upper division course, and require a project or paper to justify that expansion.
Post Power point slides on-line
I thought that there was not enough work to prepare us for study abroad, but all of the activities such as the swaying around in the blanket were fun and were good de-stressers.
More lessons focused on budgeting and safety when it comes to living in different countries.
I thought the course was taught well, perhaps if we were to review before class about the activities we would do in class, it might help us go through the activities more quickly though as I noticed we always seemed to run out of time.
By focusing more on the technical aspects of studying abroad earlier in the course.
I think more group activities and interactions, and maybe having an extra class where we could learn a little bit about the place we plan to go to by people that have been or are from the place.
9. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
Everything was fine.
Continue using other advisors and students experience when teaching the course
Instead of her advisers making the presentations, she should take a more active role in teaching and directing the class
Spend more time on budgeting tips and safety tips
I thought that the teaching style was wonderful, instead of only having lectures, we were able to participate in more of an active learning style.
Just more interactions and fun activities within our groups would be nice too.

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I liked researching each week about a different current event of the country we are going to.
Classroom interaction.
The group activities.
Culture shock activity
The group discussions were helpful and fun, especially the situational one that we did in the last day of class.
I really liked the group activities and the small group discussions.
Getting to learn more about the country I am going to. Hearing other student's experiences.
The financial aid class.
I liked the activities where we put ourselves into situations that were similar to real situations that we would face abroad. It helped me realize that communication skills are very important, and that I should be respectful and aware of the customs of the host country.
19. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
Parts where we needed to speak in front of the class.
A lot of homework for (1) credit.
Article assignments.
Weekly news letter summaries about the host country
It had an atmosphere of low planning and disorganization
The country briefings, mostly because most of them were lengthy and some of the information we needed to research on was hard to find (sometimes confusing too). But it was helpful, in the end.
N/A
The culture shock class, and the activity where we adopted different cultures.
I think it would be nice to interact within groups more. I think it would be nice if students within their groups got to know each other more with more time. It would've been really nice to have longer and more conversations with my group members on why and how they decided on taking the course.
20. What changes would you make in the discussion sections?
Need to know things for each country we are going to.
None.
N/A
Create more interactive discussions such as the culture shock activity and the situation discussion (like on the last day)
None
N/A
Just more discussions among our groups.
21. Other comments:
I wish this course had a section where we went over how to fill out our colleges applications, budget plans and course approval forms. Have a class where everyone brings their computers or electronic devices and received one on one help from advisers and teachers so that they would not have this problem of filling out things at the end of the semester.
