| This was a great course. The web site David Cole set up for the was excellent. I know this was the first time he had taught this class but he did an exceptional job. It was very interesting and I learned a lot. Some of the assignments looked forward to the least ended up being the ones I enjoyed the most and learned the most from. |

Writing assignments were good as well. Allowed me to stay involved and motivated. |

| I really loved the course content. Dave Cole is really amazing at bringing a certain quality of
learning into the classroom. He had us actively engaged in the scientific, as well as, cultural
and social aspects of the plants cultures use. |
| Mr. Cole is hilarious. Course activities spanned from fish stunning to beer making. They were great experiments that helped us learn the relationships between plants and humans. |

| I would improve this course by, bringing in more guess speakers/presenters as that was my
favorite part of the course. It definitely had the students, interested, involved and made us feel
we were important. |
| I think Mr. Cole is on his way to being a very great teacher. As I understand it, this is his first semester of teaching. In the beginning he was a little nervous and soft spoken, but as the semester progressed he evolved into a better leader over his class.
He always graded and handed back our homework within a week or so. He wanted the best for his students and often offered extra credit for those who wanted it.
He used a variety of teaching techniques, such as experiments, movies and power points. |

| David Cole did a great job of teaching this class- he did a excellent job of self analysis. There were a few occasions when he would catch something that was bit confusing himself- and clarify. He was always the first to say I need to be clearer on this next time and make fair assessments if it had effected anyone's grade. |

| Lab portion of the course is top notch, as a class we were able to do some cool and interesting things. Mr. Cole is a great instructor who demonstrates vast knowledge of the subject taught. Would recomend course to other students. |
| I liked that the labs where not all in the classroom and we where able to go outside and learn. |
| The lab really added more hands on learning to the course material. I would recommend that anyone taking the class take the lab also. |
| I loved the outtings we had. Going out to diffent places to get the hands on experience with the
plants. They were all very informational and fun. |
| The best part of this course was when we were out in the field. The types of trips we were
taking and the guest speakers/presenters were strongly related to our place in the community.
The implication was that we as HCC students are responsible for perpetuating the culture of
Hawaii Island. I felt truly blessed to have gained the knowledge, and understand the purpose
behind living here and appreciating the unique envioronment we live in. |

| I think it was great to get involved with the Hawaiian studies group doing the gardening on campus. It would be good to meet with them once at the beginning of a term to help start a project, and once or twice later to reconnect and follow up. |

| Definitely not what I was expecting but it was a great surprise! I can honestly say that I've learned a lot in this class. The best thing would be that I WILL be using this new found knowledge in my day to day life and passing it on to the next generation. |
| David did a great job and was very helpful! he is very interested in botany which made the class even better but he also was very helpful with tricks t learning boring stuff. i like the quizes and lab note book assignments. |
