12. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?

learning more about peace Really learned a lot about world issues I was not fully aware of before. The news article papers helped a lot. expanding our thoughts about what peace and conflict really mean. It is peace, war, and conflict. The course made me know realized lots of things that I didn't think of before. I think the most valuable in this class is to so us many things that happened in this world that related to war, violent, peace, and conflict. The weekly news article summaries really helped me become involved with today's politics. It also helped be be more critical of different points of view when it comes to peace and war. The discussion helped me learn a lot during this course. Everybody were honest to comment the post. The powerpoints and on how she structured her class because eventhough there were writings and readings to do. She made it very easy to understand and fun to learn and she alwways encourages us to think, feel, and do better within our lives.

24. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?

nothing, she did everything right online class so not much more to do the course was pretty good overall, i don't really think there are any improvements that need to be made. I think she prepared really well for this course. I didn't think anything that needs to be improve She could be more involved with the discussions and give her own feedback to forum postings. She can give students more film to watch instead of reading or having a group discussion. I think that she did a wonderful job. I love taking her classes because she just knows the foundation of being a teacher, by teaching from her heart and to make her students to think outside our society ideas.

great. good learning experience Excellent!! It was an online course but we were able to have active conversations with both our classmates and instructor. I especially liked how timely and thorough our instructor was in returning assignments and giving feedback. You could tell she has a passion for the subject, and being an International Business major it is something I can now say I gladly share :) awesome course. learned a lot but was very manageable at the same time. a great course that covers a very important topic in the modern world. 100%. Professor is really good and know really well in this topic. Very interesting class and it taught me a lot. Great course. It was very neatly organized, especially for it being an online course. very good and satisfied. I think the course was very interesting and I love how she makes us answer questions which we have search and realize that all what we hear is not really true. She makes us see what is hidden and invisible within the world.

I liked the different media types that we got to learn from, videos, audio lectures as well as reading changed it up and made for a more enjoyable class. the class discussions were a major valuable to me. I was able to read and discuss the thoughts of my classmates which helped me to make a better reformed and understood decision to base my position. chapter and reading logs I thought the websites and videos were most valuable to this course. The websites gave options for ways to help with some very important issues.

n/a I think she organized this course really well. There's not much she can improve on, as I really enjoyed this course. But if there was one thing that could be improved, it could probably be to respond quicker to students' questions.

this is such a thought provoking course. it provided me with so much opportunity to learn how i can make a difference in peace and conflict resolution. i was able to really get a grasp of the history and present of peace and conflict and how we can make a difference for the future. interesting subjects. i enjoyed it :) It was really interesting!!

I really enjoyed the class :) I truly arreciate how she is willing to help out, she even gave me advise for outside of class, personal questions that I had. She gave me thoughtful but constructive comment on my questions, and her replied very quickly. I also appreciate her giving each assignment her comments, and her comments are posted right after the assignment are done. I enjoyed her online-class, even thought it was a little bit challenging for me -- I think it really worth trying hard in her class. The instructor replied to students' questions very promptly. She assigned a fair amount of assignments each week. She returned graded assignments fast. She was always on time on posting new assignments for every week. She educated stuents about how to communicate effectively online and offline. I'm not a PACE major but my interest in the area is deepened. She let students know about their progress. Videos that were used for the class were very informative. I also find the textbook very easy to understand and helpful. I really enjoyed this class, and i feel that it made me open my eyes when it comes to conflict :)

9. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?

Just to give the study guides for tests out a week earlier. Do more in class activities She should give out power points to take notes on rather than write it all down all the notes in a piece of paper more fun activities will be more effective for class to learn:) n/a It went rather well. I've gained knowledge all throughout the class that will stick in my mind forever. She could allow students to work more on projects together so that they can all get to know each other. I say this because I feel as if through out the semester, students were not really able to get to know each other. For me, even if the class is finished, i felt as if i still did not quite know the students in my class. Another possible area of improvement is by creating a much more fun way of introducing topics in psychology to students. I felt as if she just stuck with the way the book was organized. I could have just independently read the book by myself and still do fine in her class however participation does count. Maybe she can create better ways to interact with her students. Some students in the class did not quite participate during class discussions. Therefore to elicit a response from them, she should encourage other students to share their thoughts instead of just letting the same individuals talk. Find a way to make learning psychology more fun. Make more activities to make it more fun

10. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

I honestly like the whole course, Psychology is super interesting to me. Personal stories that related to subject matter I like on how she let the student pick a concept from the book that interest them and write a journal about it. Every part was interesting lectures where VERY interesting. Examples about the lectures were most interesting. Seeing claudia's enthusiasm made it enjoyable to be in class. Listening to her lectures on each chapter of the textbook. Her insights and relations to a subject really help me deepen my understanding of psychology. Taking psychology 100 with Mrs. Wahl was a fascinating class. What i liked best about the course are the class discussions. I could freely participate and Mrs. Wahl gave me the opportunity to add on what i thought about certain topics that we went over. I also liked the fact that she used real life examples during class to relate the concepts and ideas presented in our reading. It really helped me create a better understanding of the subjects. I liked all of the course! The application of concepts in the real world with various examples. Group work in class.

11. My overall evaluation of this course is...

I have referred this course to many of my friends. I loved this class!!!! Very interesting class! Very interesting A very interesting subject. it's good A great class, and an awesome teacher. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest, I would rate this class an 8 because although it was fascinating, i think there is still room for improvement. Great! Excellent! She was very nice and she teaches well.

Please consider the total impact of grading late assignments. There is a difference between posting a few hours late or posting as a late assignment. Or maybe offer extra credit for people who had missed points because of events outside of their control. It is discouraging to loose half of your points for being a few hours late on posting...and this is different from not doing the assignment timely and doing catchup to hold late assignment points weeks later. reiterate cut off time for posting

15. What things did you get from this course that will benefit you personally?

I am going to school to become a teacher, so being able to help mediate conflicts between students and peers will be beneficial. Looking at the problem rather than the person. That is a major hurdle when it comes to conflicts within my house hold. I'd find my self asking WHY are they behaving this way. Now I can actually help explore those types of behaviors with people in conflcts to help them analyze their own issues/interest. How to step back and evaluate a situation, and not just come up with an answer of my own, but how to listen and LISTEN effectively. Marvelous course.

The forum discussions were very interesting. It allowed us to see our peers opinions. I liked how all the assingments we had I could relate to the real life situations that were happening to me at home or at work. Loved that she had assignments posted on time and got back to us in a timely manner. i liked how we could discuss how different topics affects different students and also how everything was so useful to everyday life. The organization. The syllabus helped alot and it was actually current and not old like some Professors have done to me before which causes alot of confusion. i liked the reflection papers and forums about how we handle conflict.

great class that i will definetly recommend. The assignments at the beginning of the semester that were postponed three weeks and then all done at once was overwhelming. The mix up between the book store and the teacher about which book was required for the class was annoying and the bookstore said it was the teacher's fault so they wouldn't order the new edition of the book.

power points presentation and using examples of everyday life which we relate bettter I think Claudia is a wonderful teacher. No improvement necessary. She is clear, direct and understanding of her student's needs. Review the online quizes. Review study guide as class. n/a Power points are boring... I love how you teach, but a lot of us weren't so excited coming to class because we expected the power points... Her course is was of the best I have taken so far in the 2 1/2 years that I have been attending classes at UH Maui Cut down on the work load. This is not a writing intensive but a 100 level course. I did more writing for this class than I did for my actual writing intensive. Great Class, everything was great... Continued use study guides for exams for all exams.

10. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

i liked her PPP and the interactions we had in class I thoroughly enjoyed the lectures during each and every class. Claudia laid out each chapter for us and although at times I was overwhelmed with the reading and all of the information, Claudia was able to explain the lesson clearly each and every time. Yoga instructor. Class discussions. There were many chapters that were beneficial to my life. I loved the class activities The fact that we know exactly what we are expected to learn, and how well she covers all of the material. Every student can honestly say if they miss something on a test its their own fault because she took the time to make sure every thing was covered. The Study Guides were very helpful. Learn how the brain works... Group projects.

11. My overall evaluation of this course is...

i would give her the maximum of points I am very happy with this course and in the future, when I have to attend an additional PSY class, I will be sure to see if Claudia is teaching that class. Good knowledge learned. Good social activity in class. Ms. Wahl made the content interesting and fun! She is a great teacher! She gave personal examples and listened to our personal stories. She made the classroom inviting and comfortable. I learned a lot, I loved doing the reading logs lol Excellent course Felt very irritated that I had to do so much writing that I was not getting credit for. Would tell others that this was course is a must to take... This course was well taught. It helped me to understand what psychology is and is not.

Christina Cowell and Claudia Wahl were the best teacher so far in my 2 years pf college....they know HOW TO TEACH AND MAKE IT EASIER FOR STUDENT TO COMPREHEND THE MATERIAL....too bad those other teacher whith fancy"Ph" requesting us to call them "doctors" have such poor understanding of the human mind and poor quality of teaching. Very happy, thank you Claudia, you are an awesome teacher. Psychology is really interesting to learn about. I would like to let someone know I took a chem 161 with Dr. Alan as he likes to be called. I have maintained a 3.75 or better in over 2 years at your college, but had to drop his class with a W at the beginning of the semester because he was the worst instructor I have ever experienced. He did nothing to help prepare his students, his lectures were extremely poor, and when I asked if he could hand out some work sheets for us to practice the material to be learned; which he said on the first day of instruction he would do when one of the students asked how we were going to understand complicated material, he told me to look up practice material on my own time on the internet, and that it was not his job to do such a thing. I still have the email with this reply. That means to him it seems his job is merely a terrible lecture that all the students are in agreement with, and handing out and grading test. He dressed like a slob every class and was very rude when I asked for help or assistance. It should also be noted that more than half of the students enrolled at the beginning of the class had dropped by the dead line. I don't know if he represents that UH Maui is incapable of acquiring good chem teacher or if UH Maui is just completely unaware of just how poor his ability to teach is, and how unhappy the majority of students in that class were with his teaching. Feel free to at least look into the matter as it is a serious reflection on our campus. Group project is a horrible idea. I think your power points should go along with the book that we paid money for and we are using not the power point that is from your last book and is different from what we just read and is convenient to you. I think that is lazy. If you expect so much from us, shouldn't we expect a little more effort on your part.

Professor Wahl communicated effectively and in a timely manner. Great class. great class! I really enjoyed this class. I think the group discussions are stimulating and result in further thought about the course topics. Dr. Wahl did a great job of responding to questions and of grading our assignments. Since this class was only six weeks long, her quickness to respond was greatly appreciated! Overall, I loved this class because I learned about ADR and will always have this knowledge to fall back on if I ever need to use ADR in the future. More importantly though, I have experienced personal growth by participating in this class. For an online class the material was easy to sort through however; I wish that the professor would answer questions in a more timely manner. She was accessible sometimes but when I really needed it she wasn't able to answer my question even on the same day. I enjoyed this course very much. And took away a lot of new knowledge.

I do not recommend students take this course from this instructor. She is confrontational and is threatened when people share their thoughts and opinions that criticize the subject matter. She does not make herself available. In fact, the only time she did make herself available was when there was a conflict for herself. She made derogatory claims when people were honest about their feelings of conflict, so much so that students backed away from discussions to avoid her dogmatic management rather than provide for a healthy learning environment. Students have sought external support to get through the course because the instructor herself causes conflict. If there are questions her automatic answer is to see the syllabus yet she posted an out dated syllabus that ran past mid semester. Students were too threatened by her to say otherwise and just struggled through the deadlines and confusion. Finally, she posted an updated syllabus but only at the hand of a student bringing it to the classes attention. The instructor posted an update but no apology for the oversight. This is hypocritical since apologies is a conflict management tool discussed in the course. Though this instructors resume may claim knowledge of the subject matter, she has serious character flaws that wrongfully victimize students enrolled. Students enrolled serious feel that the textbook was the instructor along with the discussions of the students. So really, under Claudia there was not instructor, just a dogmatic conflicts manager creating conflict. This instructor should be investigated and until then, should not be rehired especially since the course occurs online and thus in a vacuum for passive aggressive behaviors by the teacher to occur. The best thing about this course is completing the course and not being subjected to this instructors passive aggressive behavior. Many of us as students love to learn but Claudia is a militant that thrives of control and when she is challenged or presented with practices and opinions that fall outside of her per view her comments are patronizing and if you donʻt drop it, she will use her authority as the instructor to shut down the discussion. Western views of conflict management are not the only tools people use to live their lives and are not the best tools to use period. Enrolling in this course is dangerous if you have other backgrounds of peace and conflict practices and experiences, because Claudia holds prejudice & privilege. I am not really an outward person, but the class environment was so encouraging that I was able to voice my imput without feeling "scared" of what others may say back at me. This class did in fact stimulate my thinking and the way I handle conflicts. Claudia engaged the class to think outside the box. I've learned a lot of tips and helpful thinking processes. I really enjoyed this class and thought the instructor executed the proper amount of criticism in a constructive manner. I really feel that I have learned about - and how to apply - the concepts presented throughout this course. I appreciate the instructor's work into putting together the material for this course. As a 200 level course, I think the weekly 2 page journals and weekly 2 page reading/ writing assignment including the 7 page research paper at the end of the semester was too much writing for this class. Normally writing intensive classes need to write at least 20 pages within the semester, but this class way exceeds 20 pages. Excellent class--highly recommend I truly enjoyed taking this class. I will always remember the things I have learned. I am very happy with this course. The instructor was very helpful. Goals of the class were very clear. Material taught and the homework given was appropriate. I have no complaints.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Claudia! Environment of class is encouraging. I enjoy the class time and am often willing to voice my thoughts/opinions and input on various class discussions. The tips and skills that I've learned are very helpful to conflict management. This class is vital to all organizations in general for one, saving of money, two bettering the community and making them aware that we don't have to resort to violence or revenge...there is always an alternative...and more so...a way to prevent hostile conflict. I have taken many of Claudia's classes. She always does a great job and love taking her classes. She is a great teacher! Claudia is without a doubt one of the finest professors I have had the privilege to learn under throughout my undergraduate college career. She is a consummate professional, consistently demonstrating comprehension well above my expectations. Her perfect blend of humor, wit, and warmth contribute to each invigorating class session. She incorporates the strength of tradition with the power of innovation seamlessly. She shows no bias, displaying great respect for each student, making every effort to ensure that everyone is included in the discussions and breakout sessions. I am continually amazed how she manages to conduct a five-hour class on Friday mornings with such zest and enthusiasm that the time seems to pass by in minutes. Not only has she provided me with excellent training, she has enabled me to leave each class session with pertinent and applicable skills well suited for any scholastic or work environment. She has excelled beyond the level of extraordinary instructor to reach a plateau of mentor. I would hope that every student within the UH system has the opportunity to participate in at least one of her classes, for certainly their life will be changed exponentially for the better. I feel that Claudia did an excellent job taking control of this class. I beleive that their is nothing much that she has to do to improve. Provide more interactive learning tools such as videos related to specific weekly topics. Perhaps maybe 2 or 3 times during class schedule the class could be set up as a video conference. It's probably not possible because some students have limited to technology or limited access to technology in order to do this, but it's a thought. NO

She was pretty well organized the only thing I could think of would be an easier way to contact her outside of class. make the powerpoints mandatory to review I think she did a great job. she could include more in class projects. I think that this class was a very good one, she did excellent in every area possible. She explained each chapter step by step and she made it very flex able to ask questions. I think there is no need for improvement =D Go even deeper into each topic of discussion She was great an excellent teacher.. getting into student involvement more Have a better and more hands on projects. I liked going over the material in class and doing activities on some of the topics. class discussions! The only thing I can think of is, that I really liked the films and documentaries we watched in class. I thought they were a great addition to the course. Cause they take you out of the classroom. i really enjoyed the group projects. i found them helpful and fun. the aspects of the course that i liked best were the reading logs... is that an aspect?? Well anyway the reading log was only supposed to be focused on 2 things from the chapters that we were supposed to write about. However when reading one area of the chapter, it made me want to read more. I guess it encouraged me more to read more of the chapter(s). The movies and discussions examples she gives All in all the instructor has great lectures with power points that were readily available through laulima i like writing logs because that way i was forced to read my book and be ready for the discussion. To me is the drawing of the brain. Drawing of the brain made me learn better than the text.

11. My overall evaluation of this course is...

I thought it was a pretty good class, not much to improve on Great! It was a good class, I'd recommend it to anyone. i would take psychology with mrs. wahl again. My overall evaluation of this course was answered already in the 1st question. Overall she covered everything that was supposed to be covered and she made comfortable and flex able to ask questions. She teaches the course well, just needs to work on tests by having a word bank or possible answers for "fill-in-the-blank" questions. I think the way Claudia structures her online class was great. With having to do reading logs, we have to read the chapter and report what we read. When doing the first exam, I realized how much that helped me with it. The class discussions allow you to have interactions with other students since this is an online class. Great course, very challenging, informative and enlightening. Keep up the good work. Very professional and well paced course. none needed she fullfilled my expectations extensivly For the online portion I would appreciate to have live video of classroom lectures in regards to the concept and theories of "Working Through Conflict" to get a clearer understanding. I thought that everything went smoothly and don't think anything needs to be changed :) This is me personally, but I would have liked it better if the assignments were due at 11:59 pm Friday rather than 5:00 pm. This is mainly because with my busy schedule I do my classwork at night, so if the deadlines were 11:59 pm rather than 5:00 pm that would give me a little more time to make any final changes or fine tunning my assignments before turning them in.

Very organized I really enjoyed the journals. I could let alot of concerns of my own go and get some feedback in an unbaised atmosphere. The case studies in the text and the Journal and Discussion Topics. her knowledge and allways avaliable Mediation and learning conflict styles. I appreciated the responses from the online forums I think i enjoyed learning about the different types of psychological approaches there are to many different situations I loved how the syllabus completely outlined this course along with instructions. There was never a question on when something was due, or what the assignment was.

Claudia maintains the perfect balance of professionalism and personality. She is a joy to study under, always engaging the class, interacting smoothly and amiably with each student. She remains relevant and works diligently to ensure that her students do likewise. She approaches teaching with ethics and knowledge that rival any professor in a mainland ivy league university, yet custom-makes her delivery for the culture in Hawaii. We are very fortunate, in deed, to have a teacher of her caliber in our university system. She is the epitome of what a teacher should be. Awesome instructor! Love her! 9. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?

Perhaps use a textbook that gave a clearer explanation of an interest analysis. It wasn't clear as to what each level involved. Though it was clearly explained in class, the textbook didn't really help much in that area. I'm at a loss for words. By adding more student intereaction and role playing A better textbook, book was not very user friendly None. Very engaging. for a student who does not know much about the subject and is too shy to state their own opinions and not get shot down...this class is good. Overall, I feel she did a great job with teaching the course. The only thing that I would recommend is giving students a little more time to work in the group setting.

10. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

It was interesting to learn about alternatives to litigation and also the realization of how expensive litigation can actually get. The class has really made me think into resolving conflicts outside of a court setting. Group activities, class discussions, real world examples, teachers background and passion for the topics, areas in which the topics in the course can benefit us. she is a awesome teacher , make me really think Group projects, except our main one which was an essay. Kind of strange we did a group essay, not sure if thats the best type of group project. I really liked the instructor's organization & she knew her subject well I enjoyed the student presentations and the summary that was given by Wahl after the persentations. Discussion times. I did have a hard time saying my own bits...but it did cultivate a lot of though. The aspects of the course that I liked the best were the discussions, group activities, and examples. These factors made the class more interesting and easier to understand. I especially liked having class and group discussions because we were able to better grasp the concepts. We learned about conflicts around the world and learned more about each other. We also learned more about ourselves in that we evaluated the way we handle our own conflicts.

11. My overall evaluation of this course is...

I enjoyed this course and would recommend this to anyone interested in learning about alternative ways in solving conflicts and also if they're interested in the justice system. Awesomeness. 100% I loved her class and her teaching style it was aight Really great course, would recommend VERY GOOD. Very good. helped push me to apply these theroies/aspects to my daily life... that it is a great class to take. You learn a lot of important concepts that can help you in your everyday life, especially when dealing with conflicts.

I like the open book quizzes that was given in class. how she made her classes fun and upbeat. Claudia's enthusiams for the course material draws you in and keeps you interested. She has a relaxed attitude that invites you to want to take part. She is a very knowledgable instructor. I feel that I learned everything that was supose to be taught. This was one of my favorite classes as far as material and overall like-ability. Throughout the semester was a great experience. The brain project. being able to work in group projects Getting points easily in just doing the papers and quiz's each week. It made me read the chapters and keep up with discussions in class.

I learned quite a lot of new important concepts. Awesome Awsome! I loved it and it had a great impact on me wanting to explore the psychology more. Fantastic and knowledgable professor, as well as course material. i am very satisfied that i enrolled in her class. i would recommend her to any student that needs psychology 100 It was good, I learned the basic information I should know and be able to talk about!

The documentary Why We Fight was really interesting. All the assignments were clear and organized. I knew what I had to do each week which helped me plan accordingly on my own schedule. it was all fairly interesting

I feel like the final paper is a little much extra work compared to my other online courses of the same level, but it's hard to really complain because I know it forces us to research and think about current conflicts. Good class! Overall, I enjoy taking Caludia's class. She does a great job in facilitating the course material.

nothing! I thought it was a good course She did an awesoem job. Doesn't need improving. I think she did a great job. If class is done online, there is usually no lecture. However, she gave us online lectures and opportunity to ask questions.
