10. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?
The readings (particularly the EBOR: Debate and Dialogue textbook) and in-class discussions.
Readings were all very relevant and the opposing view format was an excellent way to deepen understanding of subjects covered - the general vibe of the class was also positive, stimulating discussion and positive interaction between students and instructor
Janet provided a great class environment that stimulated discussion. Her course assignments were reasonable and pushed me to learn. I appreciate that she took the time to address all of students questions and provide helpful feedback as we presented different ideas during the semester.

Warm and an amazing instructor (one of the best, if not the best I have had thus far in grad school).

Very well designed course. Every component served a useful purpose(e.g., the point-counterpoint, presentation, midterm, readings, and pop summaries).
focus on opposing views, via both in-class debates and readings from researchers with opposed perspectives
Open discussion forums in each class

This was certainly one of the most useful courses I've taken so far in graduate school. Janet is a pleasure to be around and learn from, and she did a fantastic job teaching this course this semester.

Janet's extensive knowledge of the subject area, the required and recommended readings, and the prepared slides. It was good to discuss the readings with Janet and the class.
Her incredible well of knowledge. Her willingness to make herself available for extra help.

18. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
The pop-summaries, though I understand what they are intended to accomplish, seemed a little tedious with over-achieving students (which is most all graduate students) who felt compelled to throughly re-state most parts of the article (versus a more structured discussion about the readings, which I think would have accomplished the same in ensuring students were keeping up with readings).
Keep doing what you are doing.

She is very committed to educating students, presenting multiple perspectives of issues, and supporting research to be conducted by students.
Excellent.
A fantastic professor. She organized the course in a way that all assignments and reading clearly built knowledge as clearly outlined in the syllabus & course objectives. She greatly encouraged group discussion and provided critique of feedback with warmth, praise, and encouragement. Her lectures were easy to follow, and I appreciated the take-home handouts (slides). She created an atmosphere that makes it impossible NOT to be enthusiastically engaged in the course.

17. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
Janet's approach to Treatment research involves a lot of different ways to learn and present your knowledge of the material either through pop summaries, presentations, comments on the readings or essay exams. She has every student look at how the learned principles of the course apply to their research interest to help them consolidate the material. She is very open to class discussion and models respectful, open and interested teaching to her students.
Very interesting and enjoyable to learn from. Had extensive experience in a variety of domains and localities.
Enthusiasm for the material, which was mirrored in her in-depth knowledge of the course material. Equally so, I found her flexibility to student schedules and needs highly appealing and supportive. Great assignments (grant ppt) and appreciated the take-home nature of midterm to allow for thoughtful reflections on the material
18. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
There are a lot of required readings for the course, I feel it may be better to have on less reading assignment per week but once pop summaries are done, students should submit a summary of the 2 readings to continue meeting the learning goals of the course.
More of a focus on the practical elements of the course.

She is a wonderful teacher who offers students a very informative course on treatment research to best allow them to meet the demands of our scientist practitioner model.
She is an excellent instructor who constructed a very informative and useful course that I greatly appreciated.

Practical aspects that focused on the different considerations to evaluate in order to develop the most appropriate treatment studies to answer our research questions.

that is is an excellent course that should be required in the 2nd year of the MA CSP Track, even if it means that another required course should be shifted to a later year. The information is invaluable for helping students understand research design for their academic careers (thesis proposal, dissertation proposal)
This is an excellent course that has provided me with much valuable information that I will be able to use well into the future.
