10. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?

Because my major is Speech Therapy, I most valued learning how to build relationships. In my future line of work, I will need to learn how to communicate through building relationships with my clients.

Of course the presentations we did were most valuable because it is speech class. Although i was a little nervous during the first one, you get used to it after doing it a few times.

I enjoyed the media presentations but I also learned a lot from the lectures and thinking about how they apply to my life.

I believe learning how to present effectively is the most valuable information I learned from speech class. The tips to improve your communication skills (e.g. postures, gestures, etch when speaking) were also important. Most of us use a powerpoint for presentation, so acquiring the knowledge to what is necessary and what needs to be opted out in the powerpoint presentation were also important.

Speech projects were the most valuable because it was a hands-on process that involved integrating concepts from the lectures.

The presentations were good practice. I always thought I was not a nervous person, until I tried to present in front of the class.

The speeches were valuable in building self confidence for public speaking.

The actual speeches themselves. Doing the speeches really helped me and my public speaking abilities.

The book and the lectures were in sync, so it was easy to follow through the course

The last two assignments, the persuasive and informative speech were the most valuable. It was good that we were taught the basic principles and techniques first, and then told to apply them into our own speech. Also, it was good to have the lecture first, and then some time afterwards to work on our speech.

PEER EVALUATIONS because peers are often harder critiques than teachers usually are. I am one of those students that believe that as a peer it is our job to encourage our classmates to continue to do their best. It is devastating when you have to do a presentation that is nerve wrecking enough then having to read negative peer feedback. I get that everyone thinks they can do better than the person presenting but lets try and show some class. Having negative peer comments made me hate my speech class and peers. Forget them, I tried my best, and thats all I ask of myself.

The escalation and deescalation of a relationship were least valuable to me although it taught me the different stages of a interpersonal relationship. I believe that in speech class only tips and suggestions to improve your speaking or communication skills are most valuable. Otherwise, other else are least valuable.

Sometimes, the teacher would ask the class questions that no one would answer and it was kind of a waste of time while we waited for someone to answer. Maybe it was an unenthusiastic class, or maybe some better questions would be useful

The tests should be based off of the powerpoints, instead of unvocered material in the textbook.

The book. I never looked at the course book once, yet still have an A. Waste of money.

I just wish we had more opportunities to speak instead of just having lecture material. Then, I might have become more comfortable with speaking in front of people as I practiced more.

I guess it helped with my public speaking...still nervous when speaking in front of others though.

I no doubt learned a lot from this class. Not only on the proper techniques on giving a presentation but also I learned a lot about myself.

I attended the speech class to better improve my communication skills. Although my speech scores were of average grade, I acquired one important thing in class: experience. I had further increase my experiences in speaking in front of the class, so if I decide to attend another speech class, I'll be able to learn what I acquired from this course and apply it to my next speech.

Keri is a great teacher that actually cares about her students and wants them to learn, which is hard to find in a teacher. so having this characteristic really made her a good teacher that i learned a lot from

It is an excellent course to take, whether needed or not. I think everyone could benefit from taking this course.

Awesome! I had a lot of fun and I learned a lot.

I had an interesting time in this course. I learned a lot, not necessarily related to speech, but relevant to social interaction w/ other people. Most importantly, I acquired more experiences in speaking in front of my classmates. Although, I was expecting more speeches and less chapter readings. I was also surprised when we had to do two writing essays but I had fun doing it otherwise. Overall, it was an enjoyable and interesting course.

The class was alright overall. However, I thought the instructor graded much too harshly. It is a 100 level course after all.

There were some tricky questions on exams, where it seems that it could have been more than one answer, but overall a good class.

Its a great course to take.

I enjoyed the class and what the instructor had to say and teach. Well rounded and helped me throughout the semester. The class was reasonable with grading and material. Would take her courses again.

Overall, the class was good; I learned how to present well in front of classmates dealing with three types of presentation, but professor was such a hard grader. I wish she thought of international students who are relatively weak at grammar or essay stuffs.

It was a fun and interesting class. Although the exams reflected the learning material, many questions and answers were vague, and many times when discussing the exams and our incorrect answers, she would reply "that could have been the answer." I felt that I learned the material, and it reflected in my course work, but the exams need improvement. Other than that I enjoyed the professor and the course.

B+, I really enjoyed the class but at times the class was boring.

I liked this course. It was easy enough to have fun with it, but you also learned a lot about public speaking and different aspects to communication.

A lot more reading than I have initially expected, but overall it was an enjoyable class

The instructor was very nice and helpful. Though, I thought that the tests were too hard for a speech class. I think that for speech class, the emphasis should be on presantations and communication skills than the tests. However, though this subject is my least favorite, she maintained enthusiasm and she tried to make the class fun, thus I didn't hate the class as much as I hate the subject.
