I really appreciated the forums as it allowed me to process the information being provided. I was able to apply it to concepts I was familiar with. I also appreciated having options in regard to submitting assignments. Again, it allowed me to comprehend the concepts in a personal and meaningful way.
How it is very important to have a connection with the student as well as their parents collaboration is key
This course gave me the tools I need to be a valuable teacher. I feel confident communicating with my students, their parents, and other colleagues regarding students with disabilities. Very informational class and I am very glad I took it.
I learned a lot through the content.
To be quite honest I have appreciated this whole course! I have really learned a lot this semester! The out line and the way this on line course was put together was very enjoyable and made me to want excited to the next weeks class works and topic! Thank you!!!!!! : )

Awesome! would definitely recommend it to others. It is very organized and easy to navigate and figure out what to do. I really enjoyed everything I learned. It was indeed a valuable learning experience.
Great online Course! the modules had engaging multimedia, videos and articles that were relevant to the course. I can tell she put in a lot of work to set it up and make sure the content was easy to understand, that all the links worked etc... I think she is a perfectionist at her craft, I don't think I saw any typos too.
This course was excellent. I really appreciated the teacher's feedback as it further supported my learning.
very helpful to myself loved this course
Very valuable class to take even if you are not going in to a special education class, you have the tools you need to have good communication through out the classroom.

4. What things did you get from this course that will benefit you personally?
I enjoyed the school visitation to the elementary and the hands-on activities.
Personally, Christina's class has helped me understand the aspects of student behavior in a classroom. She has also helped me understand why a special need student may behave the way they do. Her course has benefited me by helping and encouraging me to be a better teacher to future generations.
Be more engaging outside of class
I was able to interact with students with special needs. This course always made me happy. This course made me want to go to school.
Through this course I had the opportunity to teach and learn from students with learning and physical disabilities. This opportunity benefited me because I had the chance to be involved with Special Olympics Hawaii. I got to teach students at Waipahu Elementary the basics and fundamentals of softball. I will take with me the experience of being around a group of students who enjoy life to the fullest. I have met some amazing students, that I will always remember. For this I am greatful.
I learned about the different types of disabilities and how to help and manage them in a classroom setting.
All the lessons where very mindful of what comes with the field of education.
I benefit of working In the field of teaching and learning about the different students struggles with a disability however are bright in many other areas.
The best thing I was able to receive from this course is experience. We were able to meet with the students at Waipahu Elementary and learn how to effectively teach them. This helped me because I realized that I need to work on a couple personal things to become a better teacher and grow in order to teach students better.
I thought it was great that we got the chance to work with SPED students so we could get an understanding of what it takes. It also gave me a chance to see if I could handle working with students with special needs.
I really liked Christina's attitude about the class. She made me sure about the career path I wanted to pursue in SPECIAL ED.
From this course, I can truly understand the other side of education that people don't like to talk about...Special Education and Inclusion. Of course I knew that teachers with students with disabilities had to be patient, but working with them this semester has truly opened my eyes to what I may have to look forward to in the future.
I was able to get hands on experience working with children.
I got to get a hands on experience in working with special education and general education students. This class was one to take and it was just great to spend one day a week with these kids and learn from them and see how amazing they were out on the field.

6. What did you like most about your online course experience?
Everything was organized and easy to maneuver
That she makes you resubmit assignments you didn't do or have a low grade on
This was not an online course
Wasn't online except for the assignments, everything worked just fine.
I worked in class so I enjoyed everything especially the special Olympics
I didn't take this class online. I'm glad that it wasn't online because I wouldn't be able to get the experience that I did if it were not a face to face class.
na
I loved that I was able to do the work at my own pace.
I like that everything is submitted electronically, with a chance to resubmit. It is very convenient!

7. My overall evaluation of this course is...
I really learned a lot about inclusive education and I enjoyed the opportunity of spending time with Special Needs students outside of campus.
Excellent. Christina is an outgoing, fun, understanding, knowledgeable teacher. She makes her class fun, but disciplined. You will learn a lot from her if you take her class.
I really love how she's close with everyone
This is by far the most amazing hands-on class ever. We learned so much by going out there and interacting with the types of students we were studying about. I loved seeing the kids every week and doing activities with them. I will continue to volunteer for special olympics and or other activities that include students with special needs. This is my most favorite class I have ever taken. This class should only be offered face to face. I could not imagine taking this class online and receiving the experience I got to take part in. The class was organized very well. The projects we had were extremely relevant. They are definitely projects I will be saving and referring back to in the future.
Christina Keaulana is a "GREAT" teacher. I enjoyed every class I have taken with her. She is a positive teacher and role model. She has shared her experiences and strategies that she has done through her experiences. I enjoyed every experience in this course.
Great course ! She's one of the best and most understanding teachers I've ever had and I would love to take another class from her.
My overall evaluation is that this was an excellent course. It taught me so many skills that I can use in my career. Everything Christina has taught me has been so Invaluable.
It was a good experience
I loved this class and can not believe that it is almost over. I had a great experience and I would recommend this class to anyone.
I think it's awesome that we get a chance to work with students. Can help future teachers know if they really want to become a teacher or not.
Excellent course.
Awesome. Really learned a lot and gave me a better perspective
I would highly recommend this course to future teachers. Getting to experience a class with students with disabilities has changed my perspective of teaching special ed. It actually opened up my closed mind and I have a better understanding of what teaching is all about.
I really enjoyed this class. It was engaging and overall helpful for my future as a teacher.
This course was great! If I could take it again just to take it, I would! This was a great and fun experience to have.

Take her class! She's amazing!
I recommend her for all Ed students
Dr. Christina Keaulana is the most beautiful individual in all aspects. Her passion for teaching, and her love for the kids is absolutely contagious. I have had her before and her classes are real. I have learned more in this class then all my other general classes combined. The experiences we did as a class is something I will remember for the rest of my life. I would take every class I had in my life from Christina if she taught them all. I would without a doubt recommend her to everyone. She is one of my reason I am so determined and certain of my educational path. I remember telling my sister who was on the line about being a teacher. "Take one class with Christina, and tell me you aren't certain you want to be a teacher. I dare you."Teachers are suppose to inspire and change lives. Christina certainly changed mines for the best. I just want to say thank you for being you.
Keep up the good job ..
I loved having Christina as a teacher. She made the AAT program enjoyable.
Thank you Christina! I loved every moment of your class and I enjoyed being able to go to Waipahu and see the things I never thought I really would at this age.

Wish there were examples of the assignments that had to be done, but overall a good online class.
I thought this was a great class and the instructor provided awesome feedback on each assignment. However I did seem to be a little more lost towards the end of the semester on what needed to be done. Other than that this was a great course!
I liked how all the instructions for the assignments were online and easy to go through. This class was structured exactly like my other education classes. If anything, I had hoped that this course would have more forum interaction between students.
Really enjoyed all parts of this class. Very well laid out it was really easy to follow and it had all the support need to be successful with the assignments. Thank you!!!!!!! : )
Overall class was excellent and Ms. Keaulana did wonderfully to assure clear communication and provided great feedback.
I had fun in the class. I loved how clear the expectations were for each assignment (rubrics provided). I feel that more time needed to be spent on how to differentiate the work for levels of students. I wish that less time would be spent on the disorders that there are, and more time would be spent on different models of inclusion and how they work in the classroom (co-teaching, parallel teaching, station teaching, etc.) and how to use them.
Very interesting course. I would recommend this elective to other future AAT students.
I really enjoyed this course. Professor Keaulana is very encouraging and knowledgeable about this course and content. I really enjoyed reading her comments and the connects she made to life and community. I would highly recommend her as an instruction to others and for ED 284! She reassures you that teaching special education is a need and a rewarding career. Thank you for an awesome semester!!!
This course was a breeze. Every assignment was very clear and easy to understand so it was done well. I absolutely enjoyed this course!
Very good lessons
The teacher is very clear with her objectives for the class. She is available via email, and she responds to questions/concerns regarding assignments right away. She shows she cares about the success of her students and is always available to help.
Throughout this course i got a better knowledge of how to teach at-risk or special needs students. I learn that Parent involvement is very important in a child's education. I also learn that if you get to know your student and help support them with their needs they will be able to succeed. Since everyone learns differently the teacher must know how to incorporate them into the lesson so the student can succeed. Overall i enjoyed this course and it will help me become a successful teacher one day ! :)
This course was very informative. Lots of valuable information and videos were also provided. I truly enjoyed this course and feel that there was lots of information that I can take with me.
Instructor was very helpful. Course materials was helpful.
Great Class and Instructor
Very well, Kumu responds quick to emails and always leaves positive and constructive comments on assignments and projects. I would recommend this course to others. Mahalo

5. What things did you get from this course that will benefit you personally?
Additional resources and resources more applicable to Hawaii.
The understanding and knowledge gleaned from this course will not only help me within the education system, but also on how to relate to other individuals (children and adults) who may have emotional or learning problems.
Besides the useful content and hands-on assignments I believe the most beneficial aspect of the course is that it provided multiple opportunities for students to practice putting themselves in the shoes of different types of students. The course also helped in providing a better understanding of the context in which education occurs.
Learning about all the different types of students was very helpful. The types of reading that was provided was just the right amount for me to grasp a different perspective. This new perspective will help me make sure that each student will be attended to with the best of my ability.
Looking at students abilities and disabilities differently.
The ability to make sense of learner differences and create instruction that will connect to more learners.
The introduction of non-traditional strategies such as CBE that invite instructors to "think outside the box" as it pertains to teaching the student. Numerous exercises and assignments broadened my perspective as it relates to education and teaching.
Great course in helping me with lesson plans, teaching portfolio and teaching techniques.
This was a very eye-opening course, and I think that it shed a lot of light on aspects of student behavior that I was quite unaware of. I think I am now better equipped to address the needs of a wider variety of students thanks to this class' curriculum.
Working with different cultural students.
One thing I learned in this course the benefited me directly was how to write a Rationale. I knew I was going to have to submit Rationales at the end of my CTE program but I wasn't sure how to create them. Now, I have the confidence that I can succesfully create a Rationale for any of my course assignments.
The ability to recognize, develop and implement a plan to manage differentiated learners.

7. What did you like most about your online course experience?
The cultural based assignments.
I liked the autonomy associated with managing my time while looking ahead at the assignments that are due. The online environment is more conducive to learning for me since I can choose the times of day when I can be most productive.
In enjoyed the flexibility and the forums where one can interact with other students with ample time to think about their posts, responses, etc.
I enjoyed the videos and power points. They were to the point and no extra, non-sense reading.
I liked learning about the different ways to differentiate instruction.
I enjoyed the assignments and forums. I learned much from hearing other cohort's input. I appreciated the quick feedback from the instructor.
Not having to attend class. This was HUGE for me as I have a full-time job, my family responsibilities, coaching, and everything else that comes with life.
Great and responsive teacher. Great assignments.
Flexibility is a plus, as was the fact that I did not have to brave the ever worsening Oahu traffic!
Very applicable towards what I am challenged with at the high school. I know I will use content towards real world issues.
I liked that all the modules and assignments were posted from the beginning of the quarter so I was able to see what I needed to do throughout the semester.
Having the flexibility to do my assignments based on my schedule and interacting with my peers through forums. I also like how Kumu set the framework for responding to forums by using guided prompts from Bloom's higher order of thinking. I think this is an excellent way to prevent 'writers block' and to help the writer provide more scholarly writing samples that create a higher level of collaboration between students. Other forums that I have participated in, students would respond to a forum by stating, "Oh, I agree with you man." This bothered me because I wanted to know why someone agreed with my forums.
Ease and convenience.
8. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Good.
The teacher Christina Keaulana presented some heavy material in a fun, digestible, and thought provoking way.
Excellent, ideas are transmitted in different ways (including using humor, which humanizes the online experience), feedback is meaningful and readily available, the course is very well organized.
I think the course was overall great! I loved the humor and content throughout the course. This experience has a made me more open minded to online classes.
It's a good one to take to learn about different learning styles and backgrounds.
Excellent!
I would highly recommend this course and instructor to anyone pursuing a CTE license. Mrs. Keaulana brought insight, professionalism and applicable knowledge that encouraged and strengthened my endeavors in becoming a teacher.
Great course in helping me with lesson plans, teaching portfolio and teaching techniques. Great and responsive teacher. Great assignments. Great course, have told people about the great things in this class.
Excellent course and extremely relevant to classroom instructors.
Good. I can do online course work while still teach at the high school. Very helpful with the cultural diverse students.
It was a good course, learned a lot of things through class observation and connected it to the assignments.
A+++. Keep all material content as is to include the format for forums. I would like to note that I struggled with viewing the Columbine shootings and that entire lesson plan because I suffer from combat trauma. I know had I approached Kumu regarding my struggle to get through this material she would have understood and maybe allowed me to do a different topic that was less violent. In some ways, this lesson helped me to continue to face my demons and also taught me to be a more sensitive teacher when it comes to my students and being aware of what is going on in their lives. I suggest maybe have an alternate lesson plan that is less violent for students who may be traumatized due to extreme violence and preface, "that if this content is difficult for you to preview then please see me to make other arrangements."
Good to Excellent
9. Other comments:
I value the comments provided with returned assignments. THANK YOU!
Thank you.
The content and class was great overall however there were a few grammatical errors throughout the course. I didn't keep track of all of them. Some of them were in the Kumu kit menu, Higher Order Thinking Response document and I think there was one in the Teacher Portfolio Rationale Template or it might have been in the Rubric. Sorry I don't remember.
Thank you!
I did this survey and submitted it after taking a screenshot to prove it, but then it said I never did, so I am doing again to prove I did it. This is the same thing I wrote about Laulima, and I will say about every website I've used around DOE, UH, Kamehameha schools, none of them work well, and I spend most of my time untangling problems, which makes it hard to actually get to my work. I am among people who find this a primary obstacle in life, and wonder whether it is deliberate.
I would give my Instructor an "A" for this course...........
Thanks for a very informative semester!
Kumu Keaulana is an amazing professor who truly cares about her students preforming to the best of their ability. She has created a challenging and engaging curriculum for students to learn about Inclusion and provides many teaching strategies that are applicable to 21st Century teachers. I also liked how she gave instant feedback on your assignments, how she responded to my emails in a timely manner, and how she continued to encourage students to keep on top of their assignments. I look forward to taking another course with her in the future.
The online format was extremely convenient. I feel that if I needed personalized attention, I could have e-mailed or called the instructor for clarification.

This course alone has taught me so much about the world of education - what to expect and how to handle certain situations. Professor is excellent. She has a lot of experience and shares with us personal stories and strategies to use in the future.
over all Ms. Tina was passionate about her subject matter. During the entire semester, Ms. Tina had the ability to teach the required content. One of the highest qualities about Ms. Tina, was her professionalism, along with her dedication to her work - and the work of her students. She was always free for any questions student might have, along with the ability to work with individuals that didn't understand lesson and content. One of Ms. Tina's highest qualities was her ability to motivate the students. Overall she would come highly recommended if the any of my peers inquired about a class and teacher to take.
She is a very great and intriguing teacher. Loves her job and her passion shows within her teaching.
I would say that professor Christina is a very cool and caring person. She cares about her student's learning. She also understood the hard time that I had when my grandpa past away.I enjoyed her class, and every other morning that I wake up im excited to go to her class because she makes class fun and easy to understand..I highly request for other students to take her class.
I enjoyed ED 285, Into to Classroom Management. I learned a great deal of what to expect, when becoming a teacher. I enjoyed the assignments, which will help with lesson plans. I enjoyed Ms. Keaulana's knowledge of school setting and children's behavior. I've learned a great deal in this class and for that I feel great full for the knowledge I have learned. I also followed her advice about keeping all lesson plans and assignments that we have completed. It would help us with are own lesson plans one day in the near future. I especially enjoyed the classroom discussions. This made everyone in the classroom open up. It made us interact with one another on a day by day basis. By the middle of this semester I learned all of my classmates names, because of class discussions. I also enjoyed class presentations. This was a fun class for me.

Christina is a wonderful instructor. She is pleasant, welcoming and friendly. I enjoy coming into her class. Seeing an educator like her makes me excited and proud to one day become an educator. She is truly an inspiration to me and to every student that crosses her path, and I say this with complete confidence. She NEEDS to teach more courses. I want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH CHRISTINA! Its people like you that inspire others. <3
Mrs. Keaulana is an awesome teacher who used her actual teaching experience to help us relate what we will one day experience as educators ourselves. She has a great sense of humor and always kept class interesting. Love that she promotes a healthy lifestyle and taking care of our community/environment.
You make this class so fun and engaging! Although we do tend to stick to the same groups, we ARE able to move around to have the chance to meet and get to know our classmates. The fact that you allow us to do the forums in-class rather than online is great. Because it gives me the chance to talk about things I was unclear about, and get to really engage with different views/ideas. Super straightforward directions and lots of examples makes completing the assignments 5000% easier. Always welcoming us to talk outside of class if we need anything.
Engaging, interesting, and inspiring. I had fun learning in this class
Christina Keaulana is an excellent teacher with an a great hand in experience teaching at all different levels. She makes you feel smart and that you can handle a challenge that is thrown at you.
Interesting and fun. Learned a lot of things.
Christina Keaulana really made me feel excited to start the part of my life to become a teacher. With her insights and experiences she has shared, she really allows her students to feel comfortable in the classroom and elevated us out of our comfort zone. She was fair to every student and treated everyone as equally. I really enjoyed her class and how she took the time to get to know all her students.

I enjoyed ED 294, Intro Multicultural Education. I enjoyed learning about different cultures, racism against religion, ethnicity and sexual preference. I especially enjoyed having debates in class with other students. At times when you wanted to be on the other side of the debate, because you didn't have anything to say. A lot of times I found myself in the middle of most debate situations. I was more of a neutral party of certain discussions taking place at the time. I didn't realize racism is still really rooted in certain parts of America or the extremes some people chose to take it to in the past. Although, I am from Hawaii I didn't think racism was such a problem here. I guess I've never been around it to see the impact it has. But after learning about racism that has lead to violence here in Hawaii, I was shocked. This is a very great course to take, I've learned a great deal from this class.
Keaulana is very passionate in the subject. She makes class fun and enjoyable. i would recommend this instructor to another student. the work was good and she graded fairly.
Christina is an awesome teacher with an immense amount of experience which she shared with us. We as a class were able to learn from her experiences which to me is invaluable.
Just keep doing what you're doing. It would have been even better if we had gotten to go out on a field day or even out of our own classroom to learn for the day.
Same teacher as my 285. Very great teacher!!!
Fun while you learn (:
Mrs. Keaulana is a wonderful teacher who genuinely cares about her students. I learned so much in her class and you learn a lot through the interesting projects assigned. She made the classroom such a safe environment and I think all of us felt comfortable talking about even the most controversial issues in the classroom.
She's an amazing instructor, she challenges you to think outside the box and exceed. I learned a lot in her class, and i really enjoyed it. It was never boring. She makes you want to participate, and she's very caring and generous.
Very fun class! Professor Keaulana is a great and intelligent teacher. She is so fun to be around, talented and very knowledgeable because of all her pass experiences. She calls them mistakes, but those are experiences we learn from and I love hearing all the stories she has to tell us. Makes us learn so much from her! Thank you professor!
I love how Mrs. Keaulana made the students feel very welcome and would shake our hands or say hello. She really showed she cared for her class. I also love the fact that everyone felt comfortable enough to learn as a group and speak up. I think that is very important as a teacher and student interaction. It made me really see how I want to do the same for my future classes. I also like that the homework load was balanced and gave us a lot of time to do our assignments. I was glad that our forum was actually learned in class instead of just posting or reading on our own. One thing I would advice is to have the students work on the Keaulana project in the beginning that way there is a lot of time to get it done. She made me look forward to coming to class even if I was tired or anything. Bonus is she gave us snack to eat!
I learned different perspectives and aspects about multiculturalism. I had no idea what to expect but granted a very great experience was the outcome. This gave me an opportunity to prepare and have better insight of the numerous applications I may one day have to turn to as a reference. I recommend this class to all who not only will be a teacher eventually, but all, who will teach in Hawaii especially. Thank you for the awesome class!
I learned about many cultures. I enjoyed the warm ups and small group discussions.

13. What did you like best about the course?
it was online
Online and course work wasn't too bad.
The course used and gave me a lot of resources to use for my future classes.
the fact that I can do my best from understanding each individual student standpoint from the articles and videos
the resources that were provided for us to read/watch
The assignments were relevant to the course.
That it was online
the class taught me alot about students with all abilities.
Creative and thought-provoking assignments.
I liked that all assignments and forums were posted at the beginning of the semester and that we were allowed to do the assignments ahead of time if that worked for us. That was really helpful for me because I could focus on other classes when I was ahead in Christina's class.
I liked that Professor Keaulana provided feedback on all assignments instead of merely giving a grade.
I liked that half of the assignments were discussion. We could see other peoples work and give feedback as well as receive feedback from our classmates.
This class was good, and know I have a better understanding of how I can differentiate my instruction to fit the needs of all students.
The class is well structured, encourages students to share perspective as well as read other students perspectives is a great way to be open to new and fresh ideas. Professor Christina Keaulana response to email quickly as well as posting grades. She provides clear instructions as well as helping the student who needs help. I had some problems with an assignment and she helped me even went as far as giving me writing example as what was expected. It has been a great learning experience and stress free!
I liked how organized and easy to follow it was. Expectations were clear.
The overall course material and course work.
14. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
be more clear on what is expected for assignments
Better instructions and clearer instructions.
I think she's doing a great job. Just a few more simple reminders of when assignments are due. Because it's an online course, it's hard to keep up when there's no face to face interaction.
None, you are doing a good job
The grading process was unfair sometimes due to the lack of explanation of expectations.
The teaching of the course was fine, there's only little you can do for an online course.
maybe explain more in the assignments it was confusing on some such as this weeks homework
Continue to do what she is doing.
I think it was fine the way it was.
For the assignments, I would have liked if there was a short introduction on the topic (maybe a short paragraph) before having to read the material and watch videos.
I think the course is pretty good. Considering it's an online course, she provided us with reading and resources with each section we were learning.
Nothing! I liked the balance between forums and assignments!
She is doing a great job!
Not sure, I think she's doing an excellent job!
Nothing, her course was perfectly designed and executed.

Be open to students who missed assignments for valid reasons. There's one thing to be strict and another to be understanding. If the reason is valid, show a little empathy toward the situation.

Some assignments need more clarification or examples in order to know what are the expectations of that particular assignment
I would recommend her to anyone interested in SPED and would take another class from her. Thanks Professor C. Val Kekahuna

Class assignments were relevant and useful. Fun class, but wish people took it more seriously.
The class was very informative and had a lot of useful information. Really taught me the importance of being prepared and organized. Mrs. Keaulana was a great teacher, and I really enjoyed her teaching. She was really approachable and readily shared her experiences (which were many!) in the classroom. She was also very adaptable and would try her best to address any specific issues that arose in our class concerning the subject manner.

Teacher is very nice Class is fun. Recommend to all students
Christina Keaulana is a wonderful teacher that mixes technology, guest speakers, small group participation, student lesson presentations, forums, and student discussion. She is very supportive and encouraging. I would highly recommend her class to students.
I thought this class was fun and really worthwhile. I enjoyed coming to class everyday and learning about different techiniques not only from my teacher but also from my peers. So many different types of learning styles displayed not only by my peers but also from the teacher.
The class was very fun and I learned some new things. Many of the lesson taught were very useful and were geared towards elementary and secondary education practices. The instructor is very personable and shows how much she cares about the teaching profession.
Class was very informative and kept a fast tempo to stay interesting.

13. What did you like best about the course?
The teacher had extensive background in the content area she was teaching and bright in multiple guest speakers that gave us a different perspective.
I really appreciated that we got to listen to so many guest speakers. It showed me that even though we do live on an island there are a lot of resources out there for us to utilize.
The specific topics really helped to engrain material and make it meaningful, rather than teaching just a broad overview of the topic. I will forever remember the videos, activities, etc. because they were so engaging and sensory.
It was very engaging and relatable. It was a great resource to have guest speakers come in and talk to us and give us real life feedback and information.
the knowledge i learned in this class and how i effective strategies i learned to help my students better in my class
The course was very interactive. I enjoyed listening to all the different guest speakers with their various background experiences dealing with youth.
I liked seeing the guest speakers and hearing Christina's stories
That it was engaging and provided us with real life experiences.
I thought that Christina was very engaging and always kept us entertained throughout the whole class.
The guest speakers
- Our guest speakers -Christina has experienced so many different things. I was hearing information straight from the source and I appreciate that.
14. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
It seemed that my group might've been unclear on the requirements for the presentation about the school shootings. I felt that most things that were required were presented but not necessarily written on the powerpoint and that lead us to a low grade.
Provide feedback on assignments, and for projects, review our work and return feedback before grading final (several of our groups received low grades on the project)
I think the grading objectives should be clearner for some of the in class work.
The hw schedule started to get a little confusing when the guest speakers began canceling. I guess cannot help, but maybe find a way to get around that. For example, send out/post a new schedule each time or list a backup hw ahead of time if the speaker were to cancel. I appreciate you taking the time to send us email reminders for the hw though. That really helped.
For the high profile shooting case, a lot of us were surprised with our grades because we followed everything on the rubric, but some of the groups only got 10/20 points. I think the expectations should be expressed more clearly.
Nothing
maybe take us on a field trip

Please keep the films about Malala and Precious - these really stuck to us, on an emotional level.
Christina is one of the best professors I've ever had. She's very knowledgable with at risk students and was able to make the class so much more personal by sharing personal first hand experiences in her teaching career.
Good luck in teaching your courses next semester. Have a nice winter break!
Great instructor who provide real life experiences that we should know when entering our career as educators.
Christina is such a great instructor and I would want her to teach all of my classes if she could. She makes content very relatable and manages to keep us engaged throughout the whole class.

13. What did you like best about the course?
The different easpects to teaching special education. Special ed students are comprised of many different students who have different disabilities, needs, and wants.
Presentation of information through different media: print, video. Online participation allowed inclusion of "too much" information for consumption. Good practical experience with technology (web/blog creation).
The quizes
Some of the videos and articles were quite good.
I like that there were various different sources to get our information from. Some sources are more detailed than others, but for the most part you could pick and choose quite a few and it would cover most to all the main ideas we needed for the section to match our schedules. For me having videos to watch made it easier for me to understand most of the content. For me it made the readings easier to understand. The additional power point slides were also useful too and could be used as a brief outline of what to expect from the readings as well.
Well, what I first thought was going to be its weakness ended up being its strength. At first, I was irritated that the course required us to make our own web pages and blogs. However, after getting used to it I thought it was great.
I liked this course because I learned a lot about SPED and it opened up my eyes to many different types of people. Christina Keaulana was very nice and helpful in all the assignments. I like the games she made us play because we all learn differently and it helped me understand the material very well. She always got back to us by email very quickly and our grades were very fair and she explained why she liked it or why she tool off points. She was also very understanding when we were trying to figure out how to work the site. All in all, I really enjoyed her class.
Professor Keaulana had excellent feedback. Her comments really showed her enthusiasm for the Special Education in whole. I really enjoyed her class, and wished she could teach more classes. Her compassion is another great quality that many professors lack. Thank you Professor for such a great informative and thorough course. It's amazing how much information she was able to convey to her students in such a short period of time!
I really enjoyed the course content and the teaching aspects of Special Education. I enjoyed the readings and videos as well.
14. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
Instead of having the dealine at noon of thursday everyweek, midnight would be better as most online assignments for other classes are like that as well. It makes it easier for students since we have work and other things to do and feel rushed if assignements need to be turned in at midday.
This was my first completely "online" course. I'm not sure that any face-to-face time with the class/instructor was necessary, but I think that opportunity, even just once, would have been helpful to build a relationship with cohorts too.
Make the syllabus a little more detailed, especially with regard to rules about using the weebly website for blogs.
The only improvement I can think of at this time would be adding in the syllabus for the first week about tips of how to prepare and study for the summer session class which was provided after the first week's assignments were due. There appeared to be a tremendous amount of information to read through and review to meet the assignment and quiz deadline by the first Thursday of the week and I felt very rushed to do everything. Of course, I registered for the class later than most students so I did not get the earlier email sent out with the syllabus and class schedule. If I was able to receive that email earlier, I may have been able to prepare ahead of time more efficiently. Otherwise, everything was self-explanatory and provided. Just a few broken or outdated links to videos or readings were present were the only problems present. If possible, check the website to make sure the links work. Otherwise, missing links were not significant loss in material for things we needed to know. I just would've appreciated having some of those video links work as I focused better when watching those.
I think she should put in more games because I really it and I learned a lot from it.
Well she has exceeded the 100% efficiency in her course. But perhaps with her vast knowledge of the content and her clear cut ways to convey the content, she could teach some other professors how to teach the content in the manner she did.
Christina should take a look at the curriculum posted on the Weebly site to see whether links are working and if the posted papers, etc are correctly formatted for easy reading. The grading scale of the course and overall course set up (various tabs for different blogs) may be better and better organized.

I appreciate all the comments and advice I've received from Mrs. Keaulana. She truly is passionate about teaching all students and building stronger communities.
The modules for the most part were easy to follow. The instructor was easy to communicate with and available. Grading was efficient which allowed me to see how I was doing in the class. The teacher gave a fair amount of time to complete the assignments. I thank her for her comments and valuable insight on my assignments.
I'm glad to have taken this course. It really taught me a lot. I believe that the assignments in this course prepared me in my future journeys in working with different types of children. Thank you Professor Christina for being very helpful and answering any questions that I had about the assignments.
The course is excellent but, Due to unforeseen problems and a new professor taking over the course the online information was not always correct or clear. Some of the links did not work and some where missing. However, when ever I called and asked for assistance the professor was very helpful in clearing up the confusion. With out this professor taking over this class I would not have the credits I needed to transfer this semester.

13. What did you like best about the course?
the feedback that was personalized.
group discussions
I like how the course showed us real life experiences through videos from teachers, students, and families around the world and see that they can do normal things despite having disabilities.
How much experience the instructor had in the field.
The content. With inclusion being a common practice, this is a great course to take. It prepares the beginning teacher with knowledge on various types of disabilities that the children we are working with are going to have.
There was a lot of feedback on our discussions. We were able to prepare for the blackboard collaborate meetings since Professor sent out questions prior to the meetings.
The best thing I like about the course is the teacher. I felt that she provided me with the best help possible.
14. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
Nothing she did an awesome job
collab sessions at 3 are impossible for working people to make. but i do appreciate being able to listen to them on recordings.
By making the homework more understandable.
She did a great job!
I feel that she need not improve on her course she is doing just fine.
