This course has far too many quizes and tests. This teaching method has been proven to be a poor way to teach languages. This course needs to be revised and updated. There is also about 10 times too much material in the course to properly learn anything. The university should strongly consider changing the curriculum.

she is good
Great teacher. Able to explain things in a way that was understandable.
Great job! I really liked it. Please teach 202!
This professor is a hard worker and an excellent language instructor.
YOU MUST TEACH KOR 202 NEXT SEMESTER AT 12:30. IT IS ONLY FAIR TO US. :(
I feel like Prof. Ok Kim is the best Korean teacher I ever had. I only wish she could teach Kor 202 so I could have her again.
It was a very fun class! I really enjoyed your teaching style. Thank you very much!
Ok Kim is a great teacher that should teach 202 in the fall
ê°?ì?¬í?¨ë??ë?¤! ^-^ You are a terrific teacher and it would be great if you could teach Korean 202 next semester!
The instructor is fine. The course is poorly designed. These evaluations are also poorly constructed as they are not anonymous. Teachers should not be able to see any of the comments, even after grades are out. These evaluations are to improve the learning environment. When students feel they cannot be anonymous with there comments, the evaluations are not honest.

The vocabulary and new words
Etymology and new vocab
The aspects of the course that were most valuable was the instructor. She was extremely knowledgeable about the subject and very helpful.
Everything, especially learning about the origin of the character.
The stories behind the characters
All aspects of the course were valuable.
Learning the roots of the Korean words helped me understand Korean much better. I also broadened my Korean vocabulary.
This class is very good because it helps me understand what each Korean word actually means and the knowledge is also transferrable to other languages like Japanese or Chinese.

Nothing
All were valuable.
I cannot think of an aspect of the course that was least valuable. The class is pretty straight forward.
I really enjoy this class, but if I had to say the most difficult part of this course is that the medium of instruction is 90% in Korean so it might be a little difficult for beginner and intermediate students of Korean to understand. But the instructor always goes above and beyond to answer any of our questions.

She is an awesome teacher. She connects with the students
Nice, so kind, yeah idk
I think the Korean department overall has too much of an emphasis on heritage speakers, and it leaves those of us who were not raised in that atmosphere lagging behind academically. I would really love to learn, but I often feel uncomfortable because I have been, since KOR 101, been surrounded by (at least) 75% heritage speakers. If at all possible, heritage speakers should be encouraged to take an alternate class route. Also, the requirements for the Hanja courses is KOR 202. However, the majority of the class is at a 400 level or above. This is also unfair and leaves a handful of students grasping to keep up, and extremely reluctant to attempt to speak in class. I love that this is 307-308 course is the only one to teach in exclusively Korean, so it helps my ear, but often the vocabulary is over my head.
She was great teacher!
This class is great and Kim OK å??ç??ë?? is an excellent teacher.

7. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
The instructor has helped to learn chinese characters in easy and fun ways
Learning history of the language.
Learning Chinese characters to understand exact meaning of Korean words.
Going over the individual chinese characters with notes, stories to help in understanding and learning to identify the character
The length to which the teacher knew the material was astonishing. Grade A course
weekly quizes
The aspects of the course that was the most valuable was the professor. She explained all of the course content clearly and efficiently. She helped the students learn through many visual images of the Hanja script.
The memorizing of the words
Learning several Korean words that use each Chinese character. It helped me build my vocabulary.
We didn't just memorize the stuff but we learned from how each characters have started to form. The instructor made it interesting, and motivating.
The stories behind the character were most valuable. I felt like I was learning a new culture and it gave me an eye opening experience to see that there was so much more behind the characters and definition.
Valuable subject to know in general, repetition to learn course material.
She tells a story for each Chinese Character she teaches us so that we can remember them.
The powerpoints and how the professor explained using illustrations were the most valuable aspects of the course.
8. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
I liked everything about the course
the class moves a little fast and can be difficult to keep up with
leaning the origins of each chinese characters
The aspects of the course that was least valuable was the structure. To learn Hanja, one must learn Busu, which is practically the "ABC's" of Hanja. The beginning chapters of the textbook only had a brief summary of Busu, and jumped straight into the lessons of Hanja. I kind of felt that I was learning something without fully understanding the base components and fundamentals. I hope to see a revision in the textbook and see more of a detailed explanation of Busu.

her class was really fun! I'm japanese, so I knew chinese charactors already but this class was really helpful for me. I found some vocabs which are similar to Japanese, really fun:)
Revise the textbook!
The course is good but it moves a little too fast. Its hard to memorize all the words.
Very useful course. Professor Kim is highly organized and always ready to answer any questions if a student is struggling. Highly knowledgeable in subject matter and teaches material in an easily accessible manner.

I had a lot of fun this semester :) Thank you professor for being so understanding and for being such a good teacher!!!
I really liked having Ok Kim ì? ì??ë?? as my professor. She was really cool and taught very well. Her style of teaching made it very easy to learn Korean, and the class was always fun to go to! If I could, I would take Korean from her again!
professor Kim was very energetic and made the class enjoyable
Once again, Korean has been my favorite class of the semester. I had my share of absences and didn't do great on lesson tests sometimes, but I still feel like I learned a lot. My interest in Korean has grown tremendously and I can't wait to continue learning. Also, Kim ì? ì??ë?? was an awesome teacher!
I'm not sure but sometimes the powerpoint seemed to leave some stuff out. I think the reviews for tests can be better or it can just be a note reviews with practice.

31. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She asks her students questions to see whether or not they understand the material and tries her best to answer questions that students may have.
She always ask if there's any question during her lecture. We would show our homework in the beginning of class and she would be concern if we had any wrong and asks us if we understand what the lesson. If we don't understand, she clearly explains the material again.
She encourages mistakes to be made, which is essentially encouraging students to not be afraid to voice what they have learned. She always asks the following day of having to take the day off if our well being is alright. One of the friendliest teachers ever met.
She would constantly ask the class if they understand. She also tries to make sure that everyone is keeping up with the lessons and if not, she will help you to catch up. She also thinks about the students who missed class.
32. What did you especially like/dislike about the way the instructor taught this course?
This course was taught at a consistent pace, not too fast and not too slow. Also, she did not give her students too much homework and how she clearly explains what is going to be on the exams.
I really like how she teaches each lesson really slow to us, especially because I'm new to this language. She teaches Korean really clearly and explains why do Korean pepole was taught this way. She really knows her material and background!
It was fun! I cannot believe how much I've learned in this short period of time from scratch. Never have I had a class in history of my college career where I enjoyed the homework and going to class.
I liked how she would answer all questions even though they aren't part of what we are learning. That also helped because sometimes the questions we ask are part of a lesson we would be covering in the future. I also liked how much she emphasizes class participation as well as the amount of oral tests we have. Although the oral test amount is a bit much, I have found that I understand conversational Korean in real life a bit more easier to understand due to having test conversations in class often.
33. What else would you like to say about this instructor/course?
I liked how Teacher Kim always uploads what was covered in class into Laulima and regularly checked her emails.
She is really a great teacher! And I would like to take to teach my Korean 102, 201, & 202 classes.
ì? ì??ë?? 짱!!
Definitely not a slack off course. You need to put effort into the studies in order to keep up.
34. Would you recommend this instructor to other students? Why or why not?
Yes, because Teacher Kim makes learning Korean fun and interesting. She is also friendly and she really does care about her students.
Yes I would highly recommend Ms. Ok Kim to other students because she cares about her students. If students are absent or not doing their work, she encourages them to come and do their best, that's what I really like about her.
Definitely would. It was sad to hear she'll be transferring to Manoa because it's too expensive for me to attend, but I'm happy for her to be moving up. UH students will be most pleased.
I would definitely recommend her because when she teaches, she speaks to the students as if we are adults. I have taken Korean classes many times in KCC and in Korean schools outside of the UH system and I could never stay in class because of how they spoke to me (as if i was a child). I also like how she jokes around in class a bit. A little shy when joking around but i find it quite a charming thing. I also like how she welcomes mistakes and helps to correct the student in a polite manner.
35. Other comments:
I enjoyed learning Korean.
We need more professors like Ms. Ok Kim that can teach different subjects and classes.
