9. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
shes fine, awesome teacher=)
Fill in the blank power point are not effective; most people will just wait til she lectures and fill in the blanks. Study guides are better source for getting ready for a test.
More visuals aside from the powerpoint.
I think Lisa does a great job at teaching she is very informative and knows her stuff.
Encourage more guest speakers in different fields that tie into Sociology.
Lisa was highly engaging and animated in her teaching methods. Since this is a sociology course and many people could related to, or had opinions about, much of the subject matter covered, perhaps Lisa could ask for projects to be completed in which the student could really share infomration about themselves. I often notied during the lectures, much of the time people were raising their hands to offer bits of their life story which pertained to the lesson. We were able to express our own thoughts and opinions at the end of debate papers and throughout lectures, however (as mentioned before) if a project was required to pick a chapter which really resignated with the student and do a comparison with their own life, it may leave the student feeling fulfilled with their expression.
I don't really see anything she did wrong or could improve on. I liked her class, looked forward to her class, and just overall enjoyed her energetic presence.
10. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
the norms on families and marriages
Guest speakers and videos
I enjoyed the guest speakers.
I found it interesting about family myths, why families are the way they are today.
The guest speakers, the textbook style and the assignment types were very good.
I extremely enjoyed Lisas animation and enthusiasm. She was very personable, attentive, and interactive.
I liked how she brought in guests speakers who were actually familiar and worked around the topics in the class. It really helped to get better knowledge of what was being taught outside of the classroom. That really helped to keep my interest in the class so that it wasn't just lecture, lecture, lecture all the time.
11. Other comments:
she is very enthusiastic and very funny. i really enjoyed her class.
Because there is much information, cheat sheets or notes should be allowed limited to one full 8 1/2 x 11 pages. Test study guides but again it is hard to memorize all of the information so majority of the multiple choice questions are guessed at. Would be nice to have larger printed books. It's hard to read online.
Lisa is a great teacher and i found her classes very interesting and I am happy to have been apart of her class.
I really enjoyed this class!
