13. What did you like about this course, such as activities, projects, assignments, etc.?
It was interesting material and we had great lecture conversations.
I loved learning about evolution, DNA, primate characteristics, different methods of chronological dating, the evolution of the human species and human diets. I found the extra credit enjoyable, as it helped to improve my grade as well as expand my knowledge in a subject I find very interesting. Professor Hoff was an excellent instructor.
The material that we covered throughout the course was very effective and interesting. It made it easier to retain the information.
I greatly enjoyed this course, and Ms. Hoff was extremely effective at teaching the material. The material was of great interest to me, and Ms. Hoff gave interesting and insightful lectures on the material.
What I enjoyed about this course was being surprised at what was actually taught, which happened to be different than what I expected. Honestly, I did not know what to excpet exactly, but I thought that this class would not be interesting, but it turned out to be very interesting and I enjoy each time in class. Particularly I liked learning about the DNA about us humans, I liked watching the videos about the theories of our evolution (where we evolved from fish), and I liked learning the hominids that existed during different periods of time. A bonus was learning random facts that are not directly related to the topic in class, but are cousins of the topics. A real plus was learning the Latin and Greek prefixes and suffixes of words; I love linguistics but do not know much about the roots, so I enjoyed that.
The biological history in human evolution.
Simply put, I really enjoyed her method of teaching. She goes over the material to refresh what you learned in the last lecture. I thoroughly enjoyed many extra credit opportunities that helped me understand the course material presented.
I enjoyed the movies and the PTC assignment.
genes
The PTC tasting was really fun!
14. Any suggestions to improve this course?
Some of the videos are a little boring, even though they are relevant the topic, but I don't know how that can be changed. Maybe more interactive activities that incorporate our personal theories (ex: if x factor happened in x time what would the effect be).

Maybe some more handouts.

13. What did you like about this course, such as activities, projects, assignments, etc.?
I like the fact that videos of the reality of life were presented, along with the text that talked about different cultures and countries. It was a blast.
I enjoyed the lectures. They were very blunt yet witty in a sense of humor that I really appreciated.
I liked all the extra credit.
There was a wide array of material which made it very interesting
Lectures were very informative and interesting!
Instructor Hoff's referrals to real-world (and, in particular, local)situations in explaining different concepts is very helpful in understanding the material. The extra credit assignments that she offers also helps a student apply course concepts to the everyday. Hoff is also an engaging instructor.
Everything
I liked that professor Hoff made this class enjoyable. She explained everything thoroughly for us, gave us great notes, prepared us for exams, gave us a ton of extra credit, and switched up learning in the classroom. We would go from taking notes, to watching a video, back to taking notes and having these intense lectures that would spark everyone's interest! We didn't have many assignments other than the standardized assessment, maybe one paper, and optional extra credit assignments.
The lectures were very interesting. It made me not want miss a day because I did not want to miss out on learning about the subject.
I like the rice game. The Game introduced new words, yet were associated with Anthropology.
I enjoyed the assignments. They were simple in instructions and easy to follow
14. Any suggestions to improve this course?
Nothing that i can think of at the moment.
More assignments should base our grade instead of just tests.
The use of more course resources (films, articles, etc) might be helpful
None
To improve this course, students could be given more mandatory assignments.
N/A. Was very fun and enlightening.
No, Ms. Hoff was a wonderful teacher for this course.
15. Other comments:
Great job. Keep up the good work.
Teacher is great. Awesome personality, details lectures well.
Great Instructor!!
The course assessment assignment should be more objective in its questions. I personally feel that potentially personal questions (such as my personal opinion on how I would react to any of my children entering a same-sex marriage) is NOBODY'S business.
None of the test reviews were useful somethings on test were not from anywhere expected to know the whole map of the World...
None
I enjoyed this class the most this entire semester and I learned a lot! I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who is curious about the world or simply if you enjoy watching discovery channel documentaries like walking with dinosaurs, or even i shouldn't be alive. This class would interest you immensely.
Jane Hoff presented the course information in a clear and understandable way. She used good examples that were memorable. Overall she was an excellent teacher and I am happy I had the opportunity to take her class.
I appreciated the professor clearing up my questions after class.
I may have not passed the class, but I did enjoy putting my time and energy I had to continue this class. Ms. Hoff is a unique instructor. I hope to have one of her classes again in the upcoming semesters.

Nothing, this was a great class, and I leraned a lot
Maybe have a little more information from the text. Most of the information needed for success was from lectures. I would not have purchased the text had I known.
I think she did an admirable job, and was always ready for us. I don't think she needs to make any big changes.
I think it would be awesome to do a field trip or something outside the classroom related to anthropology once during the semester
Make more homework, classwork, projects and pop up quizzes.
20. What do you think of the teacher and his/her teaching methods?
She knows her matter well and teaches well but her class is very boring.
Jane Hoff is a great teacher and I really enjoyed taking her class.
Very clear and concise. Appreciated the reviews of material covered from the last class at the beginning of each lecture. Truly a wealth of knowledge.
She has a relaxed method, but is always on top of things. I never saw her unprepared. Jane Hoff is a joy to have as a teacher. I hope that I may take another of her classes in the future.
I love the way Ms Hoff presents things. She's hilarious and always makes sure she doesnt lose us during lecture. She also rewiews the importiant points which helps me remember them on the tests:)
It's good. She knows what to teach.
21. Has he/she contributed to your general knowledge or to learning job skills?
Yes!
I learned so much
Absolutely. The material covered helped me in my other classes signifcantly.
She has greatly increased my knowledge of anthropolgy, and generally the world around me. I have a greater knowledge of geography, science and the evolutionary theory. Her lessons have tied in well with the Human Anatomy course I am taking concurrently.
YES i have a new found intrest in going to Africa to dig up bones..haha not sure if thats going to happen..but yes i learned a lot
Yes.

She is a very intelligent women and feel privilaged to have her as a teacher.
I hope to take more courses from her. She is very engaging and really gives you real life information. Wonderful professor.
Thanks Ms. Hoff, you rocked my semester!
She is a great teacher. She knows everything about the course.

There was virtually no class discussions or class group participation. And zero indapendent thinking assignments
If I was teaching Anthro I would honestly give more assignments instead of just the 3 exams :) because it gives those of us who aren't so good at taking tests a little better of a chance to do well in the class. that's all.
really liked the class
I am disappointed that Mrs. Hoff did not require the students to submit a project or write an essay on the subject matter. I would integrate that into the course.
I would allow students to earn grades not only by tests. If only the tests a counted toward your grade there should be a study guide provided for each test. We did not recieve any study guides or handouts throughout the semester. However, Mrs. Hoff wou
talk louder and make class more interesting. everyone in the class was falling asleep. i felt kinda bad for her
Have class participation and group activities.
a. Nothing b. Nothing
If I were teaching this course, I would give more exams because there are are many information that need to be remembered.
Probably nothing. She was VERY well prepared. She taught the class great.
There really isn't anything that I would change about this class. It was strange that we were not given any written assignments, and to just read our required texts by the given deadline, but it doesn't seem necessary now because the lectures and videos

20. What do you think of the teacher and his/her teaching methods?
I enjoyed the class but other than the four tests there were no assignments that could help you improve your grade.
I really like Mrs. Hoff, she is a wonderful teacher, she always brought extra spunk into her lectures, humerous ways of relying what she was lecturing about to our lives.
very informative
great, except for the above mentioned...
As a person Mrs. Hoff is great. I had a hard time getting involved in her class, because it seemed she was reading out of a text book. She did show us a few interesting movies that went with the subject matter.
it was okay
Very boring!
It was really interesting to listen her talking. I hope she was more motivating and encouraging.
Her teaching methods were good.
I thing Jane is a well organized, intelligent and well dressed teacher. Her method of teaching may improve by giving more exams inbetween the real exams. Jane can really talk, and if you're not into listening well...you will fall asleep. Other than tha

very good
21. Has he/she contributed to your general knowledge or to learning job skills?
yes
Yes. Mrs. Hoff taught very well, she was never BIAS about anything in her lectures, and I felt that I learned, and bettered myself, I never felt as if she was putting her opinion on the class.
excellent
Somewhat, I learn more when I am forced to do a project or essay
To some extent.
yes... it made me stop believing in god
No
Yes a lot.

I didn't read text book at all.I shouldn't have bought it.I hope it was optional.
