10. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Developing project representation in computer programs Photoshop, Rhino, and Maya.
Camera Animation, rendering compositions, and sunlight animation
the integratration of programs to to on another. I found it valuable to laying out my other design projects
learning useful design softwares and understanding and developing the design process requirements.
Learning the 3d programs
the introduction to new computer programs (I understand that it is expected that we had been introduced to these programs prior to this course - but for many of us this was not the case)
exercise of Maya animation and Rhino modeling
Learning of the computer applications taught in this class will allow me to more effectively develop and communicate my design ideas in the future.
Learning Rhino and Maya were very helpful because they were programs that I did not know and will most likely be useful in the work area
Learning the different programs aided my ability to represent my designs.
Learning all of the software. A new experience. Very beneficial.
i thought the material was very valuable but hard to process

26. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
He is ready to listen and assist if the student has a problem with specific area of the subject matter.
His throurogh knowledge of the subject and other related subjects.
He has enough knowledge about the course and helps students a lot for better understanding. class schedule was well-organized and was clear from the beginning.
He was patient with our questions, had the TA help people individually as he continued teaching so as not to get behind. His thorough knowledge and understanding of the material allowed for quick fixes
He responses to the questions very quickly even outside of class or office hours.
He is very knowledgable and is always willing to help
His enthusiasm and pleasant and approachable manner.
Teaching the material at a good pace, and accomodating the class in helping us understand the daily lectures.
very down to earth who know a lot about computer tecnology, easy to talk to very helpful, maybe he expects too much from the class, i feel that i learned a lot but i had a hard time too much stuff to be able to catch up
27. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?
N/A
The volume of info needed to digest
Sometimes he went through the material a little too quickly as though we knew it already.
He has some hard time understanding students question.
During the lectures, he does have the tendency to move through the material at a very fast pace. It helps, though, that he reviews the material the next class.
We had a lot of classes that were repeats
The wording of some of the power point definitions were difficult to understand.
none
28. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
All seemed great to me. I do not have anything to add.
They need better internet if we are required to download info in class.
It would be nice to learn BIM programs such as Revit which are more relevent and desirable in the actual architecture/construction field and would be help us more in studio
more pdf tutorials showing each step... there are many steps, usually minute, using commands in many different ways that are sometimes hard to find, or easy to miss. PDFs would make it easier to prepare for and follow class. Write out better when and what material is expected from the in class exercises.
He should have maintain his own pace. I understand that some of the students had hard time understanding the software, but the lecture was way to slow for most of the students.
Slow down slightly when going through new commands in applications. Often, I would miss a single command or step and be lost through the class period.
I wish that grades would be available through out the course, so that we can track how we are doing and how we need to adjust our work.
If power points were changed to be more easily understood, might be able to get more out of the lectures and successfully make a lasting connection between lectures and the software applications we learn.
i had a hard time with the group in the final project, the leader wasn't a leader and one of the group members wanted to take over, and he did, our work was based on his approval he made me change a lot of my work and her work, forgetting it is a group and a team work, which missed up the final presentation for us, even though he is very good student better than me, but he changed the power point and it didn't work well.he told me i don't have to speak at all in the presentation since i had no sleep for two days and before the presentation, he told me to start, which i wasn't prepared and didn't know what to say.maybe i should have been more firm but due to the heavy work load i didn't care anymore. i think maybe professor park should organize the groups, it is too much work for one person to do, but maybe if we were guided though the process or even met with the T.A like the second project which i enjoyed and learned way more, some members would understand the meaning of being a team and putting a good equal effort to make it work instead of putting each other down and compete individually were it should be a group competition.

34. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Excellent!
Great class-want to take more from this instructor
the course was very helpful in improving design communication skills and knowledge, the instructor is knowledgeable about the course as well.
Well taught, comprehensive
very good introduction to some very useful tools
Great class, learn invaluable techniques in terms of new applications and ways to represent design projects.
A
Good class, would recommend it.
good but a bit hard which is understandable at this level
35. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
It could continue into a new course - new course dedicated to Maya program.
Like I said better internet. Maybe slightly slower pace in class.
maybe should consider teaching BIM programs
see other comments below

Needs more time for subject to be absorbed. Do a project using one technology only rather than 3.
Clear statement/examples of what's expected.
better group organization by the professor or have an individual time with each group to know more about the final project like studio. other than that i think that the class it very well organized and i gained a lot from it the tests and projects were fair
36. Other comments:
All was excellent.
Thank you for pushing me. Thank you for adjusting your expectations of the class to our abilities and skill level. I really appreciated that!
having on line class notes on all the concepts covered would be useful - at times we were guided through procedures, but I found it difficult to follow the work on computer and write notes at the same time. When I tried to replicate the processes, I found I could not
Thank you for a great semester!!
THe TA did not always respond to e-mail
i think professor park is a great professor, i enjoyed him being my teacher in previous classes and now thanks

10. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Understanding how to apply my imagination into a computer application so that other can have a visual of my ideas.
Learning the computer programs such as sketchup, Rhino and autocad
Learning the basics such as SketchUp. I also liked the use of AutoCAD and Rhino.
using auto cad and rhino
The most valuable aspect I got from this class was the use of the different programs that I need to know to be successful in my occupation.
Learning the necessary computer programs that is needed in the field of architecture.
The computer application. Very Hands on
Projects really helped understand the basics and techniques of software programs.
in class tutorials
All the aspects of this course were valuable but the most important was learning all three architecture computer programs we learned.
Lab time
everything that we did.
All aspects of this course were valuable to me. I entered the class uncomfortable with using any computer programs and always doing everything by hand but left the class with great understanding and skills as well as confidence in using the programs in the future.
Learning computer applications in architecture.
Learning the different programs and the different aspects and benefits of each.
auto cad rhino
I learned many new techniques that i wish i learned in previous years.
the projects and the lectures. the time spent in labs really helped
Learning the computer applications for arch
the computer skills and applications used
Learning how to use programs that are vital to an architects career
Utilizing the resources that are available for us for future work. This included the laser cutter. That was an extremely beneficial tool that I will use for the rest of my life. Also the 3D printer was very valuable. I enjoy the aspect of a physical object derived from a computer.
The one-on-one tutorials done during lecture.
The problem solving skills, working with new technology, and working with others were most valuable to me.
lectures
all from digital to physical model building...
11. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
n/a
I thought it was very difficult and unnecessary to print all those expensive cubes, we could have just designed them on the computer and saved a lot of money
I wished we were able to learn Revit. It seems more common than Rhino to other architecture firms.
deadlines are way too short
There was no least valuable aspect to this course, all things we learned is valuable.
nothing the class was great
amount of material covered in such a short time
None.
Stopping the whole class to answer stupid questions from people who didn't pay attention
none.
none
lectures about the uses of programs
None, I will use everything I have learned in this course at some time in the future.
difficulty with applications
spending as much time as we did on sketchup
I didn't much enjoy the lectures. I understand that they deepened our understanding of the overall process and concept of Computer aided design, but i felt it may have wasted time.
The take-home exercises. They should challenge me into thinking of different ways to build them instead of reiterating what was already done in class.
Having the two sections meet and then having, us, section two move all of their things to another room.
take home assignments
none

26. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
Always around Architecture building, and available to ask questions and receive feedback.
his willingness to spend extra time to help
Not only is Professor Park a very good and efficient instructor, but he is also a nice and genuine person. He helped many of us who needed help, even though he was very busy with other tasks. He also stopped to help those during lecture classes.
His TA was helpful and willing to answer our question in the middle of the night
He was very knowledgeable, he was very open to answer your questions and very helpful.
He was very helpful when myself or anyone got stuck while working with a computer program.
He was always there for the students. Even offered to teach during the weekend if you didnt understand the program. Great teacher.
He went through tutorials very thoroughly and effectively.
patience with the students
Professor Park had a lot of knowledge on all the programs we learned her was definitely an expert at all three.
He is very willing to help
He knows how to use the softwares.
His knowledge of a lot of computer applications in architecture.
His knowledge about the material and that he was willing to make sure everyone understood. He didn't punish those that went ahead, or those that fell behind.
knows what he is doing
His enthusiasm made it easier to learn and stay intrested
the information talked about during lectures
Knowledgable
He really knows these programs like the back of his hand.
his knowledge is great, understands the technology well, not always easy to talk to though
His extensive knowledge of architectural programs and integrating them into design projects that often required us to use fabrication machines.
Always willing to help. very knowledgeable in the realm of computers. Twice he made time for an out of class lecture that was tremendously helpful.
He was always ready to help and explain (and repeat) how to do certain commands.
He would put in the extra time on the weekends to make sure we were on schedule and help us with the content.
giving clear lectures and helping students one-on-one
organization..
27. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?
n/a
his strong accent was difficult to understand sometimes
teachings are too fast
He did not have any negatives; his knowledge was all very valuable and helpful.
nothing
It was difficult to understand him sometimes.
nothing
Nothing.
None
nothing
He sometimes covered really easy basic material that seemed to be a waist of time.
For some reason, students werent attentive when hes talking in class
na
Some lectures did run a little longer or repeated information.
I do appreciate sketch-up, but i feel like we spent the most time on it and i'll probably use it the least.
I felt that the way he was teaching was on a need-to-know basis instead of giving us a general overview of how to use all the programs.
It was a little difficult to meet up with him during the school day.
communication
28. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
Nothing needs to be changed.
extend the deadlines
The class was well managed and very informative, the class did seem short, and felt like there was more to be learned.
nothing. great class. the only thing was that the class was very fast paced to learn 3 programs in one semester. didnt really understand the reason to learn sketch-up. Horrible program.
this course should be a two semester period.
None.
This is a computer class. It should be focused around learning how to use a program and therefore, we should be graded based on how we've learned to use the program. We should NOT be graded on the design of our projects as much as our demonstration of knowledge of a certain program. Also, sketchup is relatively useless and I feel that we shouldn't have spent so much time on it. I would rather have spent more time learning rhino 3D.
None
More time on each program if possible. Maybe not learn sketchup. Need more time to get a better grasp on the program, rather than just the very basics.
while he teaches sometimes he goes too fast and is hard to follow
More difficult projects early in the semester
na
i would recommend taking the scale of the final bus stop model to 1/2"=1'. the details captured in 2/3"=1' can be easily captured in 1/2"=1' and open the model up to a wider range of materials and fabrication methods.
I want to learn photoshop! i need to began my portfolio and i'm worried without the Adobe aspect, i won't have as strong a portfolio
If we had had more in-class exercises showing us how to do basic things and eventually build up into more complicated demands, it would have helped me broaden my knowledge of the programs. It would have also been helpful if once a week we were challenged to discover a new command and explain it to the class.
The only problem I had was with the Final Quiz. We would have been better prepared for it if we knew what kind of questions we were going to asked of us. I felt that there was a lot to retain in a short amount of time. We covered all of the questions that were on the test, but very briefly.
emphasize the deadlines

34. My overall evaluation of this course is...
This course is great for learning all types of computer applications for the field of study.
good
Great class.
good but could be better
This class was very helpful, I learned a lot more than I expected. It will defiantly help me in my future. The Instructor was very knowledgeable, and very helpful. The TA was very knowledgeable and helpful as well. The TA was able to meet and give any other instructions that we needed. I wish there was a higher class like this, taught by the same instructor and TA, but only more challenging material.
It was a helpful course and I learned a lot and it will help me when it comes to expressing my ideas using a computer.
Great course Park was great in teaching and the TA's were on point. Always there to help and lend a helpful hand
This course was very helpful in learning and understanding software programs used in the architecture field.
good introduction to computer applications
My overall evaluation of this course is that i think this course is very good.
This should strictly be a technical class. There is no point in pushing it as a design class when everyone is preoccupied with learning the program.
It was very good and helpful.
Excellent
good course.
Good course, and was one of my favorite thus far
good, very informative
Neccesary for architectural students,
very good, tas were good and well educated in computer apps. wish i was.
Amazing keep it going.... Love the integration of design projects
Great course, wish there was more, because at this day and age, computer design is paramount, not for the actual design of form, but for the ability of fabrication and reprsentation. Professor Park was a very helpful, understanding, and compassionate teacher.
I was slightly disappointed. I thought I would end the semester with a very thorough knowledge of all programs but instead I was pushed towards that direction and had to rely on myself to try and figure things out.
This course was challenging and pushed us with the deadlines. I had to be on it, meeting weekly with my T.A. I learned a lot and would recommend this class to others.
great
very good
35. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
Perhaps getting discounts on applications. (Rhino)
smaller classes
extend the deadline
The class was well managed and very informative, the class did seem short, and felt like there was more to be learned.
take out sketch-up
again we moved through a lot of material in a short time
None.
Get rid of the 3/4" = 1' final model. It's a waste of material and we simply don't have time for that. A 1/4 scale model would've been just as effective.
This course could be improved by allowing more time to finish the final project.
course is well planned, nothing comes to mind for improvement
Higher difficulty to keep interest. More technical training. More availability.
more classes to learn computers in a more personal and slow pace.
Lectures could be a little more clear
less lecture, less sketch-up, more model building, add photoshop.
More in-class exercises; interactive problems.
I think that this class could be improved if students could remain in their own sections and the professor went in between the two classes to give the main lecture. It was a hassle and a danger trying to move every class to another class in the middle of the session.
teaching assistants to slow down and make sure each student understands the exercises/lectures

It was good that this class got T.A.'s to help Professor Park. Todd (my T.A.) was extremely helpful and gave a lot of input when it came to our final project. He was available outside of class hours and was willing to help whenever we needed help.
Terrific Class
I would've wanted to know my grades as soon as possible after the assignments were turned in. Also, I would've wanted to learn Revit.
We often push for being "green" at UH manoa, and I find it ironic that every architecture studio class (including this one)assigns projects that requires the students to waste an ungodly amount of money and materials to complete.
Nonce
keep deadlines as they are
