19. If you were teaching this course: a. What would you do to improve it? b. What would you change?
I wouldn't change anything. It was a good course the way it was. I liked it because I was able to do it at my most convenient time, which really worked well for me and my schedule.
keep the same style because it was an excellent experience!!!!
I liked it very much. Psych was a interesting and fun experience.
I wouldn't do anything different I think Kathy did a wonderful job!
I think you did a great job teaching the subject matter. You always had the oral presentations every Monday with the unit objectives and I like that.
Great lectures. Enjoyed course. Too many assignments.
20. What do you think of the teacher and his/her teaching methods?
There are times that she makes comments about the students personal lives without regard to their feelings. However, when she does realize that she has hurt someones feelings, she does apologize. I love that she is so passionate about the course topic.
She's straightforward and tells you what you need to do without making you feel incompetent. She's also very knowledgeable in this field and shares her experiences with the class.
excellent
Good
Murphy was very motivating through the entire semester. She had excellent feed back for all of us and she cut no ice. we need to hear it like it is more times than not! Thanks
I really enjoy this particular instructor! She is encouraging and has motivated me to be a better student and ultimately a better nurse.
Oral presentations are great but I feel like sometimes it makes it difficult for me to ask questions since its an online course.
Interesting lectures.
21. Has he/she contributed to your general knowledge or to learning job skills?
She has contributed tremendously to my knowledge on mental health nursing.
I would say yes, she has. She used different techniques too. I really liked it when she used the different psych tools used during the group meeting with us and we were able to see how effective they were.
yes very much
Yes. She made it to become a more positive feedback.
OFCOURSE! I learned a lot in this course. I enjoy psych and this was a good expereince.
Definitely!!
Yes, I think she helped me to not just care for patients at a physical level, but also on a psychological and emotional manner. I have gain appreciation for psychosocial aspects of nursing care and will continue to apply it when I start my career in nursing. Thank you.
Psych nursing was not as easy as I thought it would be. I learned alot about communication and myself through this course.
22. Other comments:
I like my instructor b/c of quick response.
She's a good teacher, she cares and wants us to have a good knowledge and empathy for those patients we will later come it contact with, which she accomplished by her methods. I really enjoyed this class. :) and what like to delve more into this field of nursing.
please keep your excellence.
At first everyone "tripped" out about the positive feedbacks because some of the instructors instilled fear in the students and made jokes that was non-humorful as a student. MURF ~ it was very nice that you did give positive feedback after each session. I don't know if anyone told you ( i know i would have, but i don't interact with the teachers much because IM NOT A BROWN NOSER like other students can be . Now its over, EXCELLENT job of making it a more POSITIVE experience when the morale was down with the student. You also gave advise and pep talks about other classes with some students and that is really re-enforcing for them. So big CHEERS for being and BECOMING different and making it more positive. Positive re-enforces better learning experiences than fear.
Murph, thank you so much for all of your help and everything you do as an instructor and as a person. I have really enjoyed being your student and learning from you.
Coming into the psych ward was challenging since I did not have any background in the setting but you consistently helped me to understand ways to understand and care for patients in the setting. You have helped us to develop better understanding in communication and I think that was also very helpful. Thank you.

19. If you were teaching this course: a. What would you do to improve it? b. What would you change?
I would have more activities that involve modeling abnormal behaviors. Fun acting activities would have gone a long way towards learning side effects and other things like this. Activities that involve checking communication skills with other classmates.
Nothing. This instructor taught the course extremely well and is so educated in all aspects of the theory and nursing care, that I feel she did everything the best any instructor could guide us through "psych"
Kathy used various techniques to teach her course.
I would recomend that the psych clinical weeks be consecutive.
The instructor presented information well, and covered material quickly. Some suggestions on how to apply the info would be very helpful.
20. What do you think of the teacher and his/her teaching methods?
I think that the teacher has a very open style and tries to keep the students on their toes.
I felt that she had good teaching methods, but she should give us a bit more time for the in-class assignments. I know you felt that we didn't know our information or that we were slacking, but I felt that we couldn't give our best for the in-class assig
Very effective
It was terrific - to hear about real world mental health care.
I thought her teaching method was satisfactory. I think the teacher could improve in her organization of grading and getting work back to the students.
Good teacher. I learned a great deal.
I like the way she gave us a positive attitude and criticism. It keeps me motivated to study harder.
21. Has he/she contributed to your general knowledge or to learning job skills?
I feel that this has greatly contributed to my job skills because I am able to see behaviors more clearly. I am able to assess mentally thoroughly. I am also able to see my own communications shortcomings. I have grown much as a nurse through this course.
YES!!! She would encourage and explain illnesses, characteristics of different diseases, and etc. If not for her, I would not know so much about psych medications, ego defense mechanisms, therapeutic and non-therapeutic communication. I have learned muc
Very much!!!

with her positive comments on my paper, I motivated to study harder.
22. Other comments:
I went into this course with some hesitancy, but ended up getting more out of it than I had expected. I have gained insight into the mental health aspect of nursing.
I felt that sometimes the grading for care plans was not that fair. At one point I felt that I was doing too much work. I saw my classmates getting grades that were not that much lower than mines, and they totally "half-assed" the work! I was discourag

No more take home essays and papers!!!
Be more timely on grading assignments.
I would add more activities related to the content and make the course more online interactive.
I would improve organizational skills. It was frustrating to have to keep producing the same work because the teacher couldn't keep track of it.

20. What do you think of the teacher and his/her teaching methods?
Alright. This course was one of those easy, but brutally time consuming! She did the best she could to motivate us and keep us on track!
Okay it was an on line course, so there was not that much interaction.
I found the teaching methods to be quite efficient.
I don't appreciate being accused of lying as a class. I thought that was inappropriate. The instructor seemed scattered sometimes.
I did not like when she would ask some questions in front of the other classmates in clinicals, I feel that she should have asked those questions in a private setting.
I feel she was a scattered at times.
