prof wen's style of teaching using pen and paper is better than using the powerpoint. it's also a good way to learn when we do some problems in class. i wish we had a study guide to help us study for what's going to be on the exam.
Professor Wen is a very easy to talk to person. He clearly knows the topic of accounting well. He was always helpful when I did not understand a topic. I realize that this is his first semester teaching, so there is a lot of minor things that could be improved upon. The amount of work on homework, assignments and tests should be considered more carefully. I believe this problem will be solved next semester because of his experience this semester. I would much rather have class time for explaining chapters in detail rather than going over homework. You have great homework solutions that should be sufficient in understanding how to do most problems. Towards the end you started using more of your own notes to show how to do problems in new chapters--this was very helpful compared to the slides that the book's website gives. Overall, for a motivated student his class was very easy because of the curve, but for others it was difficult. I appreciate Professor Wen's consistent positive attitude and helpfulness. I feel that attitude and willingness to help are the most important factors in a instructor, all other things can be worked on.
Slow down when explaining difficult material. Sometimes you go to fast to understand whats going on.
Dr. Wen is an incredible intelligent and helpful teacher. His ACC 321 course offers great insight into the field of accounting, and I would highly recommend taking any course under his tutelage.
Great guy, had no problems approaching him with questions
Eric Wen is very knowledgeable in his field but he has difficulty conveying the information to the class. The powerpoint presentations had TOO MANY slides that were crammed with so much information it was overwhelming. Towards the end of the semester, Eric Wen hardly used the powerpoint slides and taught everything on his own and I feel that was more beneficial and I absorbed more information. His exams (especially #2) has too many questions for such a short time. Exam 2 had numerous calculations to be done and too many questions that it was practically impossible to finish in the short class time.
Prof. Wen seems to care about his students, but seems very disorganized. Lectures did not seem to prepare us for exams. Exams seemed impossible to get a perfect grade. Often talked about random areas of accounting that did not help us make a connection to what we were learning. It is obvious Prof. Wen is trying to get through to his students, but may need more experience in the teaching field.
Very helpful
I'm not a fan of the textbook we used in this class. It was very helpful to have homework solutions posted online, but frustrating that the majority of the problems in the book did not have answers provided for them. It made it difficult to thoroughly prepare for exams by practicing. I would usually look elsewhere for problems that I thought would most likely appear on exams.
