15. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Fine tuning the mechanics of freestyle was the most valuable for me.
Re-learning the basics but with better technique
I loved this class. I learned a lot and feel like I gained a ton more confidence because: Steve was a very good instructor. (He gives very good examples and analogies of what we are supposed to do to learn new techniques. I thought it was awesome that he could remember each students name even though we were all in goggles. He made class flow very well and very fun). I was good for exercise and health, waking up in the morning
The feedback Steve Allnuts gives to help you improve on each technique.
The basics of swimming The basic strokes The training scheme The Progression of the class
learning the butterfly stroke and learning to swim efficiently
Everything, I wish I had this class everyday. We learned proper technique and gained experience in the water which may very well save our lives if we find ourselves in an abnormal situation in the water.
working continuously on free style and doing a lot of different drills helped me improve a lot.
The drills were great. His enthusiasm as well as encouragement was most welcomed. I think he's a great swimming instructor and am glad to have taken the class from him.
Getting back into swimming after being out of the water for so long and getting my confidence back in my stroke. Getting a reminder of why I love being in the water, even if only for 50 min.
Learning the different types of strokes and how to better your swimming skills through basic knowledge.
The time coach Steve took to model technique; gave personal feedback to individual swimmers; and when we did partner work. I learned even when he was helping someone else with their technique.
16. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
Learning butterfly was an absolute nightmare.
? it was valuable

I think over all the course was very valuable. This was an elective for me and i really wanted to learn more about swimming and i did!
Butterfly.
Nothing. Everything taught in this course was very valuable information that could be applied to swimming situations in a pool or the ocean.
Hmm... hard to say, maybe the heated pool? On first entry its nice, but after a few minutes of hard swimming it was not that comfortable.

27. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
I would have liked to play some pool games and do some fun things rather than just focus on technique and do drills day after day.
I don't think he needs to improve anything! I think he's more than fair and very good at what he does!!
Improvements: 1) Provide more programming into the swim 2) Add some more drills to include some materials (floaters etc)
He's great, best swimming instructor I ever had
Keep doing what you have been doing, this class was awesome.
he taught very well. I know it can be hard to teach if he isn't actually in the water, but he explained things very well. Maybe he could explain things a little better in the beginning such as intervals, but other than that he was great.
I think he does a great job in balancing and paying special attention to all skill levels, something quite difficult for most to do.
He's a good teacher. He gave everyone fair treatment and pushed me to do my best throughout the semester.
I think he is doing a great job as is. I wouldnt change the course at this time.

34. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
Have some fun days spread out through the semester. Maybe diving boards one day, diving rings in the deep pool, or other games/fun thing like races.
maybe had us watch swim video's to see what needs to be done
Overall, the course in itself is fine the way it is. However, opening up more free swim hours so students can practice outside of class could improve the overall take away from the course.
NO comment..I learned each time Maybe a swim outside of school. A field trip outside of UH. Video of each swimmers before and after..to compare improvement. (This is a stretch but it is something that will give edge to school of swimming)

Longer class times would be greatly beneficial, especially for those that may need extra help.
I thought this course was great. Maybe it could be offered a little earlier for those who have 8:30 classes. but other than that, it was a great course.
For the beginning course, smaller class sizes. I know that our class was one of the biggest but maybe there could be a lower limit on how many people can get into the class just so that for the beginners course, everyone is able to get an adequate amount of attention if need be.
Doesn't need improvement at this time.
Have swim instruction periods.
35. Other comments:
thank you for responding to my emails. And for giving me the oppurtunity to make up class to swim outside of school or during pool hours.

Steve was a great teacher and went above and beyond to accommodate all his students. He never made anyone feel silly about not being a great swimmer and always was ready with alternatives for those who couldn't quite keep pace or were completely new to swimming. Great teacher! Very well respected by his students. I enjoyed taking this class! :) Great job Steve!
Great class! It was a pleasure learning swimming from Coach Steve.
