13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
|
| his lesson plans were always organized and he always knew his lectures we always knew what to expect on a typical day of class. |
| Knows the subject area very well, allowing to teach his students a great deal of Oceanography. |
| He's knowledgeable and passionate about his field of study. He's young and easy to relate to. |
| I like the way that Pat lectures and presents the material. He speaks very well and explains the concepts in a way that I can easily understand. The powerpoint slides and his drawings on the dry erase board help me understand the material better. I'm a visual learner and I like that Pat's power points are available on laulima for us to review. |
| Knows what hes talking about. |
| Professor Drupp clearly knows the subject matter and puts a lot of effort
into making the information easy to understand. |
| He always got through all info:) |
| He definitely knew what he was teaching, you could tell he was passionate about oceanography. |
| His knowledge of the course |
|
|
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
|
| none it think its a tough subject to teach because most student are only taking it to fulfill a requirement and dont always have a passion to learn the material. or if their like me has a hard time understanding the material because its not something im interested in. |
| Perhaps the power points were a bit elongated and over bearing. More thorough review, and more specific points to study. |
| Powerpoints are a little dry. |
| None. |
| Dosent need any |
| I'm not sure if he is aware of this, but he is kind of like the Mr. Mackie
character from south park in that he uses the phrase "mmmkay" quite often. I
wanted to bring a bottle of hooch to class and make a drinking game out of
it. The last statement was intended as brevity and should not reflect
negatively on Professor Drupp. Also, don't give exams so soon after Spring
break, I personally bombed that particular exam due to being distracted over
the break. |
| Change focus away from ppt sometimes.. |
|
|
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| he showed his concern for his students by being available when ever they need it thru email or in person. outside of class he would look up any question student would have during class that he couldnt answer weather it was based on the lecture or something they read about and report back the next class. he also make it possible to make up quizzes if you emailed him like if you were sick or something. he made it okay to miss class if you were sick and he did his best to help you catch up. |
| Involved in the students' success and easily accessible outside of class |
| Pat is very good about responding via e-mail. And questions or concerns were resolved very promptly and thoroughly. |
| Would answer questions if people had any. |
| He would answer student's questions and try to explain information in several
different ways until the class understood the concept. |
| He was ready to discuss issues after class. |
| He made the connection between the course work and the students. |
|
|
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
|
| i would recommend patrick drupp to other students because he has a clear understanding of what hes teaching and he does his best to help his students understand the material also he'll go above and beyond to answer questions student may have by doing additional research and reporting back. |

| Professor Drupp has the potential to be a great science teacher. |

18. Other comments:

| I initially registered for this course for a science credit and had absolutely no interest in the subject. However thanks to Pat, I now understand the importance of the ocean and I can appreciate the subject a lot more. |
