Reseraching, analyzing data and writing a thesis was very valuable. These are skills that will be needed in many jobs and my thesis is something that I will be able to show for my academic career.

Learning about research methods.

Learning how to write a thesis, and learning the different terms and definitions for thesis writing. Also, what I learned can be applied later, if I decide to go to graduate school.

I think Sandra having structured lessons about the terms really helped out. Going to the library and having one on one sessions benefitted me personally. Having Sandra respond to emails in a timely manner was also a great help.

The making of the litterature review and the research of topic.

SPSS. I can confidently say that students who learn this program will have a marketable skill that can be put on their resumes and lead to jobs.

The text book.

I didn't think that there were parts that were blatantly least valuable or useless. It was just that we had so much work to do in such a short amount of time. I think that the course went by really fast and so I did not feel as confident in my knowledge and application of the things that we learned.

The multiple choice questions we had in beginning

The text book. The text content was repeated in class lectures. Frankly, the lectures were more interesting too. This made the text book unnecessary.

Buying the exspensive book that I never used for my paper. All the information I needed was from Laulima.

Excellent course. It is too bad thesis is no longer required.

Professor Wu, has been a great help and inspiration.

I would strongly recommend Dr. Wu for Thesis.

I think for class material, the future students should have worksheets so that they could have practice in creating dependent and independent variables, research questions and the like. Thesis is a very confusing subject and it takes a while to learn, so more practice would definitely help students out. That and maybe making the class 2 days instead of 1. I really liked that she had resources available on Laulima. To further enhance the course maybe she could create a screen cast for her students as well. Overall though I think Sandra is a great teacher. She is willing to go above and beyond what is expected of her as professor to help her students succeed. There really are no words to express the gratitude that I have for her help in this highly tressful class. I <3 Sandra Wu!

If I did not have Sandra for this course, I would not be able to keep up...She is always helpful and cheerful!! Thank you!!

The aspect of writing and formatting a thesis paper

The one on one meetings really helped me. It made me feel that what I was working on was meaningful and that she genuinely cared about my research project.

The hardest part of this course was having to write a research paper without being told exactly what to do. Most papers in college do not require that students show knowledge of material without being told exactly what to write. I found that in real world situations I will need to produce reports without an employer telling me exactly how to write the report. This class was a struggle for me, but I took more out of it than any other class in college.

Consultations with professor and learning how to write and organize paper

The literature review and research aspect, because the skills learned here will benefit us in the future.

Producing a final thesis at the end of the semester

The weekly assignments, especially the parts of the thesis and limited time of completing it, were very helpful in organizing and preparing the whole thesis that would be submitted completely at the end of the semester. I would have preferred more time to do the later assignments that required more than just a week, due to research. The visit to the social science librarian and any workshop regarding comprehension of SPSS, researching literature and formatting were also very informative.

all aspects, this class challenged me in every way. At the same time I learned a lot. Sandra Wu is a good teacher that actually cares about the students and the material she is teaching.

The one on one time with the instructor helped alot during the research process. The actual field work where we had to learn and figure things out for ourselves was very valuable. The library session was very helpful.

none. I felt that everything was valuable.

Student presentations of their work were not useful to me. Many students went over their time limit, and I believe that the presentations would have been better if they were more concise. A possible way to make them more valuable is to strictly enforce the time limit so that students focus on key points.

Sandra is a great professor who will assist anyone.

Although we dove right into doing our research projects, more time to collect data would have helped validate our project better. Other than that, I enjoyed doing the project bit by bit and making sure everything was on track step by step instead of having to turn in one big paper at the end of the semester.

Wu is my favorite professor in the Communications department. Her classes are interesting, she is a good teacher, and she genuinely cares about her students more than any other person I have encountered in the department.

Wu has the ability to motivate students and explain things in a very clear manner, excellent teacher.

I am very grateful that I was allowed to be part of Professor Sandra Wu's COM 490 Thesis class this semester. Her patience, helpfulness and desire to help students do their best on their project has not gone unnoticed. She was just as diligent as her students in making sure that she was there to guide them. Sandra did not make it easy for us to satisfactorily complete the assignments, she made sure that we completed them to our best and that we understood how the assignments were related to each other, and how they supported the whole of the thesis. This semester was mentally and intellectually challenging for me, but I feel that I am knowledgeable in initiating a Thesis project as well as the time, effort, passion and the patience that is required for a Thesis to be successful.

This is the hardest class I have ever taken. Sandra Wu was able to explain the material and keep the students on track. I learned a lot and as able to accomplish tasks that seemed impossible. Sandra Wu is the Best professor teaching at the University of Hawaii at manoa.

The course material was very valuable in relation to my life. I was able to analyze my interpersonal relationships and discover new ways to make them better through reading the text and learning from Ms. Sandra Wu.

I really enjoyed how the instructor used mediums to educate us. From power point presentations, video clips, group exercizes, activities, and journal reflections, we were able to learn the course content without getting bored.

All of the group work was great! And just having conversations with the whole class was really interesting and fun.

Everything, this was the best class I have ever taken and I will use the concepts for the rest of my life.

Learning how to be an effective communicator by listening and responding better.

Sandra's requirement to get to know our classmates well was a helpful way to drive the message home because we then placed in situations which forced us to apply concepts learned in the classroom.

All group and team activities, which supported the course goal. Also, I believe that our journals and critiques helped us greatly in realizing certain things about ourselves and our peers that could be improved.

Aspects dealing with effective listening, disconfirming messages vs confirming messages, being aware of our nonverbal communication, as well as effective ways to give a first impression

The class was well structured, straight-forward, and engaging. Everything about the class was awesome and it provided a good learning environment.

Everything in this course was excellent from the course content to class atmoshere. I would recommend this class to anyone. Sandra is an awesome teacher.

Everything. The journals were very good too because it allowed me to reflect on my life and become aware of the things that I could improve on to become a more effective communicator. From this class, I also learned how to maintain and develop my relation
