Readings are a bit long but very informational class. I love taking classes with Professor Gershuni because she provides rubrics to follow in order to succeed!

other than the assignments for this class overlapping with all my other classes being due at the same time no complaints. i like the discussions and the spacing out of the presentations and papers.

Really passionate about her lessons. Great teacher! Very organized!

She is a very good professor with high expectations for her students. She is willing to put in the work and effort to produce good students and successful people. She brings a lot to the table and is passionate about what she does. She is truly excellent and inspires a high level of thinking.

I really enjoyed sitting into Professor Gershuni class because she had so many information that she had taught to me that I did not know. She was very helpful when I had questions about a paper or project. She made class very enjoyable.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS CALSS! One of the best classes I've ever taken in college. I learned a lot about the travel/tourism/hospitality industry that I never was aware of. Being in this class also made me aware of the things of ethical issues that occur in our own state, not just world wide. I enjoyed having Laura as my instructor.

I am really grateful Prof. Gershuni for her sharing her insights and knowledge and understanding of SocialCultural issues and concerns with the Travel and Tourism industry that really are necessary to understand so that her students will be able to adopt appropriate and responsible thinking and behaviors toward the prepetuation of host cultural authenteticity, respect, and integrity. Professor Gershuni is always open to comments and questions. Being that it is summer school, she replies back usually the same day. She answers all of my questions and is very helpful.

Her recording video was easy to understand that helped my study for exams.

Professor Gershuni response me right away when I asked her questions via email. She always open her door for students who have question.

A cheerful and open-minded instructor! I had the opportunity to discuss various topics of interest with her, all of which she answered completely and professionally.

I am really very grateful to Professor Gershuni for ALL of her time and efforts that she offered me as well as the rest of her students with regards to the extension to the course information. I enjoyed having her class, and was pleasantly surprised to see her do a midterm evaluation on herself by the students. She is only the second professor I know who does that in the UH system. I was thrilled that she does respect the students with no bias. I enjoyed this class the most out of all the TIM classes this semester! Thank you Dr. Gershuni.

Ms Laura is a nice teacher.

The textbook, though expensive was a relatively easy read.

She is an understanding and amiable teacher; she is also approachable. She enjoys teaching the class materials and always have a smile on her face, which I really enjoy seeing. She knows her stuff really well, and explains everything clearly. I really enjoy this class; I wish there were more extra credits though!

Professor Gershuni is a great instructor because of her enthusiasm for the course and her ways of making such a large class become more interactive by encouraging group discussions/activities. I really enjoyed her class this semester.

I really enjoyed taking this class. It turned out to be more than what I had anticipated at the beginning. Prof. Gershuni made this class fun, exciting with all the hard work we had to put into for the event. I learned a lot of life skills and gained real world experience from this class.

Great class! I really learned about about how to put together a successful event. The material that I learned in this class I well be able to put into sure when I get my future job. Everything that was taught in this class was used to put on our successful NÄ? Kukui Netlinks event. It took a lot of time and hard work to put on that single event but it was all worth it to get such great feedback from people who attended.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. I honestly feel that I am ready and prepared to start my career as a special event coordinator.

It's so amazing that Ms. Gershuni manages to teach many classes while being months pregnant, and is still being able to maintain her professionalism. Besides, I admire how she always demonstrates an effort in considering students' inputs to improve the overall quality of the course.

Great class. By far one of the best classes I've taken so far in college. I was so intrigued by all of the material presented in this class, and the instructor proved to know a lot about the material she was presenting. Encouraged a lot of class discussion which made this class a very exciting experience.

Laura is one of the best teachers I ever had. She emphasizes the fact that this is not a "truth based" class and encourages us to share our opinions. She's open to hearing our opinions without judgment. This class was challenging, but not impossible. I needed to work hard, but I knew that my hard work would be rewarded. This class improved my critical thinking skills, writing skills, and oral communication skills - exactly what I had hoped to accomplish coming into this class. What I did not expect, was my change in perspective on the tourism industry. This class truly opened my eyes to some of the sociocultural impacts that the tourism industry has! Before this class, I was very focused on efficiency and "the bottom line," but after this class, I am much more aware of the bigger picture. It's so easy to disregard the impact that your business may have on the community/environment/culture, but this is an impact that must be examined as closely as the bottom line is. One of my favorite classes!

I really like this class, the professor always shows her passion of the topic that she is going to explain, and most importantly this course give me a whole new definition of traveling. No matter when you need help, the professor is always there for you, and willing to help you.

Prof. Gershuni was very supportive and encouraging of all her students, which is appropriate for this class and the subject matter. She was very helpful in critiquing our writing so we could improve. After taking this class, I believe that all students should be required to do so before graduating.

I love the round table discuss which gives the us chance to throw out ideas fairly. And usually people can concentrate a lot.

I feel that the TIM School should make this class a requirement. This class makes us aware of things we may or may not know, as well as push us to try viewing something from the other side of the fence.

Whenever a topic for a project was uncertain, she was there to lead you to the ride direction.

I really liked this class. The fact that it was a course to encourage critical thinking, analysis and communication helped us to stay engaged. People weren't as stressed about tests which allowed more time to write thoughtful papers. I really liked the debate component although it would be helpful to get the audience more involved, like requiring them to ask a open ended question to the group.

This class was extremely stessful for me because it just had too much work to do. Either paper and presentation goes over and over as soon as one thing is done. Maybe this class should focus either on writing intensive or oral communication because the materials we cover in class can possibly be interesting and fun but i didn't really have time to enjoy it since we constanstanly had something that needs to be done and these things just killed me. Definately the hardesr TIM class ever for me and i seriously considered dropping the course on the halfway and just take another WI class from non-TIM class next semester but i ended up not doing it..

I appreciate having a TIM class that focuses on the ethical issues involved in our industry. Laura Gershuni is one of my favorite professors here at UH. She is knowledgable, understanding, and always prepared for the class. Honestly, Laura's teaching style & allowance for class discussions is what made this course so enjoyable. TIM 321 has opened my eyes to many ethical circumstances in the world that I was never aware of. There should be more courses like this offered in the TIM course curriculum.

By far the best TIM class that I've taken! I learned a lot. It blended my two interests (Travel Industry and politics) into a cool, relevant class.

Even though this course was rather difficult and expected a lot from their students, Laura Gershuni engaged and encouraged students to expand their knowledge. She empowers students with knowledge and stimulates thought and conversation; she makes student feel as if their opinions matter. This course has challenged my thought process and how I will apply my education to my future career. I will always take courses that are taught by Laura Gershuni. She is a very bright professor.

This class is challenging for me, because there were many opportunities to discuss with classmates, writing paper, and presentations. But, at the same time, the topic of this class, "socio-cultural issues," are really interesting for me.

I have learned a lot in this class. It help me to think what other issues can affect by tourism industry.

She is a wonderful teacher. Very intelligent, and showed a lot knowledge in the course. She was also very organized and you always know what she expects out of you. Overall great teacher!

Laura Is a very enthusiatic person who makes the material easy to learn. However, the subject itself seems to overlap on several other TIM courses, making it somewhat repetitive.

She's a great teacher. Very enthusiastic about the industry and what we can do to be great managers. She was also very knowledgeable and always had personal examples.

I consider Ms. Gershuni the most professional instructor in TIM school, because she always dresses, talks, acts, and teaches professionally. She differentiates herself from other instructors by making her lectures noticeably formal(yet warm and welcoming), organized, and easy to follow! Sincere smile is the key, an instructor that always hangs a smile on the face (like Ms.Gershuni) is 100 times better than a Harvard-graduated PhD instructor that does not smile to students~

This was a very interesting class to take! It definitely challenged me to think outside of the box on ethical issues. Ms. Gershuni was dedicated to making us better writers and speakers.

Laura was an incredibly engaging lecturer. She has a great ability to present subject matter in an interactive and thought provoking manner. Laura maintains a unbiased, accepting, encouraging perspective surrounding concepts presented. This provided an open, intellectual environment, which allowed students to feel comfortable to express a diversity of thought processes during discussions. Laura was always upbeat and positive. Her optimistic and encouraging teaching style truly dissipated throughout the class; it was contagious. Laura was truly inspiring lecturer, and would find a manner in which to build upon students' assertions, never exuding an air of superiority, though, maintained high degrees of professionalism throughout the semester. Laura provided informative, interesting coursework materials, and continuously challenged students to view concepts from multiple perspectives; this ultimately solidified concepts, and in addition, allowed students to diversify their perspectives. Overall, it was highly evident that students' not only grasped concepts presented, but were also able to apply them in tourism contexts, and yield interesting insights during analysis. I highly enjoyed the class structure; it maintained a balance of lecturing, discussion, and individual presentations to solidify concepts presented in the course. I, among peers benefited from this diversity, as thought processes and perspectives were diversified, and writing skills and presentation skills improved. The coursework assigned was challenging, yet highly engaging. Laura provided an optimistic, open, and positive learning environment that truly allowed students to express thought processes, and as a result, the entire class benefited. The class discussions were highly beneficial, as different perspectives on concepts provided a diversity of different positions to take into consideration during individual analysis for assignments. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to take Laura's class. She provided an engaging, open, and positive forum for academic exploration.

Laura was very generous with her time. She really cared to see her students progress. Her class lectures involve a lot of class discussions which was neat, I have never been apart of that before. Good teacher.

This is the second time I have taken a course with Laura and I chose to take this course because I had such a wonderful experience in her previous course. Our coursework was hard at times and really challenged me to think critically but I appreciated that we were given an opportunity to do some of the work we did. It really will help me for the future with my career. I enjoyed writing the short papers on a neighboring island because I could learn more about Hawaii and it was informational to hear what other students wrote about. Overall, I feel this class has supplied me with knowledge and skills I can use in my future career.
