15. What did you like least about your online course experience?

OMG! I think I should have physically attended this class. I feel if I physically attended this class I would have retained more information. I couldn't believe how much parts of the human anatomy and it's bodily functions there is. It was hard to keep up because of all the definitions that I had to keep track of. I think Mr. Fachan must have realized that because he allowed us to take the quizzes more than once for a chance at a higher grade.

Nothing, this class was GREAT!

This was my first online class ever. It was very good. Each week there was a quiz on each chapter and every two weeks there was an exam on two chapters. However, I did find navigation of Pearson's websites confusing. If there were online videos posted by the professor to help explain difficult concepts would've helped too.

I needed lecture time. I liked it, but I want to hear the teacher talk about the course.

The due dates are too close from when the assignment opens.

At the beginning of the semester I simply asked one question, and the professor snapped back at me through email using all CAPS telling me that if I don't know the actual to my question I should drop this course and take it again later, really gave me no motivation at all to work hard in this class and it really affected my grade. If i was very confused on anything, i didn't even want to ask, i would just guess and hope that I was doing it correctly. The test and assignments each week are fine, but the test given every two weeks are very hard, and we are expected to practically memorize the entire book instead of what is actually necessary. The work load is way to much!

I did not like taking the exams at a UH testing center. I live and work too far from a UH campus and it was very difficult to get there. I take online courses because I live so far away from a UH campus or community college.

16. What did you like most about your online course experience?

I liked that Mr. Fachan gave us more than one chance to complete our quiz for a higher grade.

Everything went well.

This course was great! Great sources, online lectures and online powerpoints! Quick email responses and very good directions. The emails given before each test were very helpful! I have nothing to complain about with this course! It was better than expected for an online course, I loved it!

Organization. Quizzes that were due were always at the same day each week.

I can do assignments in the comfort of my home and I don't have to go to the campus.

i didnt have to waste gas, and it made me study knowing i didnt have a teacher student learning environment

It's easier than an in class course.

The course schedule was intense but it kept you on track.

17. Other comments:

It was an "eye-wakening" experience. I think that distance education classes should have some kind of coding system such as A for heavy reading, B for extensive research, C for heavy definitions, etc. so that students knows exactly what to expect and maybe consider physically attending a class.

Professor really needs to learn how to motivate there students and not judge us through online classes. I will never recommend him.

Once you start doing the exam, time goes by fast.

There is no face-to-face contact which is fine.

There wasn't always someone to remind me about what was due, but that's what I expected. I completed all my assignments on time, but I didn't put as much studying into it as I should have.

Some of the test questions were tricky, they had several possible answers.

I felt that this class should have been a 3 credit course. With the amount of work that was done, it was well worth it.

I miss the interaction with the teacher face to face, but found Mr. Fachan always responsive and very willing to help whenever i needed the help!

I don't like the quiz where it is timed and it's giving me pressure. Sometimes my internet is slow.

when somthing would go wrong with my own computer

Even though sometimes the online interactive program gave me a hard time (i.e. wouldn't load, kept freezing, didn't record my scores) I felt the program really helped prepare me for the exam at the end of each week. I felt that doing the 10 activities really helped me learn medical terms and helped them stick.

i did not like the fact that we had an in class lecture portion but everything was online and i understand the in class was just in case we needed help but i would have liked more interaction with students and teachers through the in class lecture part of this course

16. What did you like most about your online course experience?

Work is somewhat self-paced.

The activities were really helpful throughout the course.

I love the independent study and the initiative that is expected of the student for online courses. Everything was returned in a timely manner and the problems I did have, the teacher replied almost instantly and was available to help. :)

The ability to interact with the website in order to learn.

He made it clear about what was due every week, and i enjoyed doing my work in the 'hospital floors.' It made it more fun to learn things rather than just read the chapter every week.

I enjoyed the time availability, which made it easier for me to manage my time with my kids as well as class.

With the activities online and flashcards, it helped me to learn the vocabularies.

I have taken numerous online classes and I enjoy it! It is self-directed and I can do it on my time.

I liked that Professor Fachan was always there to answer any questions I had and answered them pretty quickly.

Our professor was very clear about expectations and explained things thoroughly through e- mail. I liked the book and the online access. This was a fun and interactive way to learn.

The thing that I liked most about the course is that the worksite for the course was very helpful.

What I liked most about this online course was studying and playing the hospital games. I thought it was very fun and interesting how this course went.

The teacher kept up with us, always sending emails on what's going on, really cared about us.

I enjoyed everything! It was very interesting learning about the different areas of the body and understanding the breakdown of the word.

I was very pleased with how organized and efficient the process was! the syllabus was followed to the letter; things were ready within the times noted; grades were posted very promptly and i always knew that i could reach the instructor. I was even provided a phone call reply to one of my emails in the evening! Mr. Fachan went out of his way to assist and ensure that i was set up properly with the testing site and that my quizzes and activities were being properly credited to my account. This was my first online course and i was very pleased with the flexibility and the ease of communication on line. Mr. Fachan is to be complimented on his time management and organizational skills! he has obviously done this before and knows what he is doing! I would definitely recommend this course to others! it was very helpful in my field of study and the methodology of learning using the online materials and the website was fantastic! i really got a great deal out of this class and am so glad i took it!

The coursework was clearly presented and easy to access. Instructions were clear on all assignments and almost all work could be completed without confusion of the online systems.

i loved that the medical terminology course helped me understand more about other courses i took within the same semester and i really enjoyed that professor fachan responded to every email i sent him within a day

it was great. the interactive part of learning helps out a lot. gives you everything that you need to take a test.

I absolutely loved the interactive activities that we do in the hospital online. It was not only fun, but it made learning medical terminology much easier.

The flow of work was steady, and the time committment about 4-5 hours per week, but the ability to work at any time was such a bonus! This first experience of an online course for me was so positive that i am definitely going to continue to use this method of study for future required courses. Professor Fachan responded to emails quickly and allowed me to take an exam early because I was traveling out of the country. Great in responding to emails and helping with any questions I had over the course of the semester.

I didn't like how the lab did not really reflect what we were learning.

I actually liked my online course experience

It would be easier to have the deadlines for pre/post quizzes and clinical questions listed on the syllabus course schedule with the exams. That way, I can coordinate my study schedule better in advance.

I liked that it was online, and more of an independent study.

I liked the fact that my work is online and I was able to do my work at any given day and time.

Extremely hard course and it needs help revamping the outline of the course. All material feels like its squeezed into the allotted time frame over the semester and its not enough time to absorb the material given.

15. What did you like least about your online course experience?

I didn't take the online course. I took the in class one. But in class, the least thing I liked was that we had to spend money on uneccessary things for the class.

Professor Fachan was very clear with what he assignments need to be done. He gave us at least a week to do the assignments. Didn't give us any last minute things.

The lab quizzes often were completely inconsistent with the study materials given. The amount of material in the textbook is overwhelming and the depth of the physiology is unnecessary for this level of college course. Clinical questions are given entirely too much emphasis and straight up fact based material cannot be absorbed in the amount of time given. Questions should be screened for general diagnosis, not for conjecture or possible conflict with other symptoms...WE ARE NOT ALL GOING TO BE DOCTORS SOMEDAY.

The thing I liked most was that he was a funny instructor, who never grades hard, and always makes the class feel comfortable.

I really liked that there were no pre/post quizzes this semester. Instead, there was one quiz for each chapter, which didn't take up as much time. Also, I liked how all the Power Points are provided on Pearson so we can use them while we're reviewing for the exams.

17. Other comments:

Thomas Fachan is an easy going guy who I would definitely recommend to others. I enjoyed being in his class for ZOOL 240 and ZOOL 241.

Professor Fachan needs to study this course. He has no clue what is on the tests, quizzes or even what is in our texts. He may be knowledgeable in both physiology and anatomy but this does not help us when he does not know the material that we are being tested on. He is also not very well briefed on his own syllabus. He needs to liven up his lectures, by the end of the semester the lecture days were ghost class rooms for good reason...anybody can read a slide. Quality and Control in this course overall is horrid. I have experience in this subject matter. Get it together, it is just sloppy.

I thought Professor Fachan was an excellent teacher, and did a great job at teaching this course. Although this isn't the easiest course to take, it did challenge me, and I can truly say that I learned a lot of information from this course.
