2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
Taught me what certain computer terminology meant; i.e. XBRL and what Wi-Fi stands for. This course will also help me understand the auditing process better.
This course was taken to fulfill a General Business requirement. Normally, I would not have taken this class but I've come to realize how important accounting is even for Managers (which is what I will be after I graduate), so this course has helped me become aware of and increased my knowledge of accounting issues and systems issues. These are things that will help me in the future.
It gave me a better understanding of AIS systems and the importance of understanding the connection between IT and AIS. It also illustrated the many opportunities that lie ahead in my pursuit of a career in the field of accounting!
It gave me an introduction of Accounting Information Systems. I learned various problems within the field of AIS. I also learned about various programs which are used for different purposes.
This course is required for my Accounting major. Much of the content is computer science based and less to do with Accounting. This course gave me an idea of what Accounting Auditing might be facing in a rapidly changing technological working place. However, it fails to interest me to pursuit further studies in this area.
This course has enhanced my knowledge of accounting. I have learned about ERP systems. I am glad this course is a requirement for my major. Computing is now a necessity in accounting.
It gave me more insight how AIS is very crucial and important in accounting.
It gave me a sense of how important and integrated AIS is in the work force.
I learned the importance of technology in Accounting.
Great course
The course taught me different things about both accounting and information system. It taught me how I can apply the use of information system to my future career.
AS an accounting major, this class is very helpful With all financial information are processed in the computer, We learn how to safeguard the financial information with AIS system.
She finds a way to help you understand the subject.
Yes it did.

5. Please comment on the activities or resources that could be added to this course to improve your learning.
Recorded lecture. I understand it's cheaper for the students to use an older book (thanks, btw), but a lecture from the instructor would provide supplemental and UPDATED information. Also, she could talk about her experience actually working in the field.
With online courses, we miss out on the visual aspect of being in a clasroom setting, so sometimes for online courses I find it helpful to have videos and links to presentations that were pre-recorded so that I can really learn the material better. I did really like Matsumoto's lecture notes and articles she provided for us to read, and found them helpful and informative.

I took this class online. Professor provided weekly reading, notes, and quiz. Some online discussions provided some class interactions. But this class is mainly self studies. An online classroom session such as Black Board Collaboration should be utilized.

The lectures, powerpoints, notes, and readings are substantial for the expectations of the course. It is very well worded and easy to understand.
Maybe adding more discussion questions.
Resources were good.
Helpful
I think the professor offered enough activities such as discussions, quizzes, lectures and videos that helped us improve our learning.
If we can have more hand-on activity instead of all theories, that will make the class more interesting.
I enjoyed the lecture notes and readings that she gave us each week, it helped to apply the chapters. More of those types of outside materials.

I think a recorded lecture would be helpful. The professor seems to be knowledgeable about the subject but it might make the material hit home a little more to HEAR her talking about it and providing examples that are not in the book.
I would say maybe a pre-recorded and narrated powerpoint presentation instead of just the powerpoint...other than that, I found the class to be well-organized and I wouldn't change much about the course itself nor Matsumoto's teaching methods.

I like when she shared her past working experience as an auditor during our online discussion. Her real world experience brings more clarity to the theory we read in the text book.
The textbook "Test Yourself" questions and answers I thought were somewhat ambiguous.
None
I really enjoyed the discussions. It gave me a different perspective on how questions and solutions are approached among my accounting peers. It would also be nice if Ms. Matsumoto would give feedback on the posts. At least we have a professional perspective other that the textbooks or the articles that are presented.
I think the method and style were just fine.
Add in extra credit questions to cover for low score quizzes.
As it is an on line class. it might be hard to have some hand-on practice.
The discussions were great, there could be more.
More classroom interaction, we did have a few discussions which were helpful. More application of textbook learning. I like to get ahead in online classes, so I would have preferred for assignments to be posted and open for longer than one week.
17. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
she did a good job of communicating with us and running the class in an organized manner.
Nice lady, pretty average teaching method.
Great course, nice Professor who is uber-organized and consistent (which is VERY helpful when you're a student taking 6 other courses in the same semester), information in Lecture notes and Powerpoints clear and easy to understand. I did not need to contact her personally to have any questions answered because I already had all the information I needed to complete the course without much extra guidance. I would take another class with her again!
Andrea was quick to respond to any questions or comments throughout the semester!
Professor Matsumoto provided us with plenty of information on the subject of AIS. I thought she was a good professor overall.
-very organized -always willing to help -I thought the ppt, lecture notes were very helpful
Professor Matsumoto found extra material for reading to accompany our text book. But most of time not really involved in leading the class.
Very fair and effective instructor. I thought the discussion format was a good way to interact with other students on this online course so as to gain perspective on thoughts and ideas of one's peers.
Good.
She's very thorough with her course materials. It is also easy to understand and straight forward. She's easy to reach and provides prompt responses for questions.
She sounded like a very caring and positive person.
a good instructor.
Great professor
For me, Professor Matsumoto is an effective teacher. She's very organized with her lectures which actually made it easy for me to understand.
Ms. Matsumoto is a great teacher who have a clear explanation on the lecture note for the class material.
Great teaching method of make difficult chapters easier to understood.
Knowledgable, helpful, laid-back, good teacher.

20. My overall evaluation of this course is...
it was good. i wish i would have spent more time on it though.
It's obvious that this is a very basic intro course. I'm still glad I took the class though.
Great course, it's well-organized and though the course itself initially seemed intimidating to me, it is not especially difficult. The workload is more than fair, and I did spend a reasonable amount of time reading and studying each week. The material is very helpful to all business students and I would recommend they take this course even if it's not required for them.
I feel that Andrea did a wonderful job of leading and guiding me through this online course and would recommend this course to anyone who needed to fulfill this course requirement online!
Some of the topics felt a bit repetitive and a little boring. But a sufficient amount of material was given to get a good introduction into AIS.
I am not sure if classroom setting would change the overall experience of the course because I took it online. But most of the time I felt I was just reading the book by myself and taking the exam on the computer. There is very little class involvement and I felt I did not learn too much from this course overall.
Good basic course for anyone interested in pursuing a career in accounting or in business in general.
Good.
I like the simplicity of things. The course materials, quizzes, exams, and due dates are very workable. Her resources and modules provides the knowledge you need in answering her exercises. Her articles are the reading materials I enjoyed the most to stress the importance of accuracy and records.
I think that professor Matsumoto granted us an advantage when she made quizzes and test/exams "open book." I think that by doing so, it's an indication that she does not want her students to fail. I enjoyed learning a bunch of new material during her course.
great class. It gave me a preview of the real accounting profession.
Great
This course is an interesting one. It is not a difficult class. All lectures discussed will be applicable to our future jobs and even everyday lives.
Overall it is a great class for accounting major.
My overall evaluation of this course is good. I like the way how we communicate as a students. She find many sources and examples so we students can understand well the subject.
Good accounting and tech course.

2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
This course provided me with a detailed perspective of accounting systems, there benefits and consequences.
very informational
Just reading more information about Databases helped me to understand the use of Access even better. I am now able to duplicate an Access Database that was created by our previous IT back in 2003 just by looking at the relationships established. And with all the readings, I am now able to have a better understanding of the many roles accountants play in a company/organization. That it is not only about numbers but also systems.
This course has taught me a little more about accounting and how accounting information system is tied into it.
This course was needed as a course requirement. Ms. Matsumoto enhanced my personal development in my major by teaching me what the Accounting Information System is all about and how important it is to know what it entails and how it works because this is what is used Accountants. If I ever get a job as an accountant I will knowledge of it.
This course gave me a better understanding of the importance and proper utilization of accounting information systems. Being an accounting major, it is important that I understand not only the accounting concepts, but how to use current software programs to aid me in connecting my book knowledge of accounting to the real world accounting.
It helped broaden my aspects and knowledge for the AIS. Was strongly linked to MIS I believe from previous experience in a way.
i learned so much about accounting and computers, and how they relate to each other and other business related fields
Better understanding of accounting and how it's changed, improved, and is constantly improving with information systems and technology.
This course has made me aware of the growing demand in AIS positions and how the knowledge is useful in other positions such as Forensic Accounting. I have learned a lot about IT, an area I struggled with, and am now considering taking more classes in IT.
I really enjoyed this course, as it gave me a lot of insight on how technology is used in auditing and how it flows in an accounting department and CPA firm.
learned a lot about the importance of information systems and how they can enhance a business
The course made me learn a lot of business terminologies that I can apply in my future career. I consider the lessons very useful in the work field especially the segments related to internal controls and accounting/auditing department.
I learned a lot more about different career options and gained a better understanding of the many ways that technology will be integrated within the accounting discipline.
This course enhanced my personal development of my major in many ways. It greatly informed me about IT, AIS, and other topics related to the internet.
This course was great, she is a fantastic teacher and the discussion questions helped quite a bit
This course has helped me to better understand the relationship between accounting and technology. It is important to understand vulnerabilities with technology especially if you are using it to handle sensitive financial information.
I learned about information systems and how they are used in businesses.
The course made me aware of other careers relating to Accounting that I was not aware of. For example, Accountants as consultants with regard to helping a client determine what software to use in the company. Thereby, highlighting the importance of an Accountant having background in IT.

I would have preferred either a study guide or further assignments that paid attention to key terms and definitions from the text. With extra focus on those that she would be covering on the quizzes and exams.

The resources provided (textbook, powerpoint, lecture notes, articles and supplemental readings) were sufficient to get a full understanding of what each chapter was all about.
I would not add to Ms. Matsumoto's activities or resources because how she has structured her class and the activities and resources she has given us has help me understand the subject being taught.
This course was very well laid out, and the resources offered were adequate
Some examples of real life experiences would help. A better lecture notes to help with quiz studying.

No additional suggestions
I have no suggestions.
Professor Matsumoto was organized and her expectations of us were clearly stated at the beginning of the semester. This made navigating through the course and learning the material so much more manageable.
Have more discussion questions because I felt that I got to interact with other students more.
none
Possibly making a schedule for the discussions. Since there weren't as many discussions as quizzes or readings this semester, it would've been nice to know when the discussions were due at the beginning of the semester rather than week by week. Other than that, I really enjoyed this class. The discussions were insightful, especially reading other student's opinions and experiences.
none
Maybe more interaction with the prof. and online conference
No suggestions. I think the course had a great balance of materials and information for learning the concepts.
I like Professor Matsumoto's teaching style. Her weekly quizzes are a great to make sure students are on task and are keeping up with the readings.
I felt it was a very stress free course, it was a nice breath of fresh air for me in my schedule. Thank you!
I really appreciated the chapter notes I felt it was a lot easier to understand than the book at times. I also liked that we had additional material besides the book. I really liked stories relating to things that actually affect us here. For instance the outdated system our state has been using it is no wonder it takes FOREVER for them to do anything.
17. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Excellent, very helpful and understanding especially with the issues involving Laulima. I appreciate any instructor that takes the initiative to stay on top of technical issues that may arise, especially around finals week. I would recommend this instructor to anyone who attends West Oahu.
good class
as an on-line class professor, she makes sure that you still would learn just as much as if you were taking the course in a classroom setting. She provides enough reading and examples to supplement what is being discussed on the textbook. She also uses real-life examples to make the learning more realistic.
Overall I think that she is a pretty good instructor. She explained what was expected from this course and everything else was pretty simple.
I feel that Ms. Matsumoto is a great teacher for this online course. The materials she has posted for each chapter was very interesting and she always made sure, through her power points, that we knew what parts of the chapters were important to know. She always encourage us students to do our best and to ask questions, which she was always willing to answer. She gave us discussions that would help us to expand our learning of the subject and gave each student a chance to interact with each other.
Very good professor
She's a great teacher and I believe her class has helped a lot of students learn this subject better.
she is a great teacher and answers emails very quickly
wonderful teacher, very knowledgeable about her field.
Mrs Matsumoto did an outstanding job of making this subject interesting and relevant with the lectures notes and additional articles/resources. She connected online in a down-to-earth-like manner through lecture readings that include a comic strip and ending her announcements with "cheers". Little things like that can make juggling school and home life a lot more pleasant.
She's a great professor that includes a lot of relevant additional material to help boost our understanding and accounting world awareness that really helped me start to think like an accountant.
she does a good job responding to all of my concerns that ive had and my grade is going to be pretty good so i guess she is doing her job well
excellent
Great Professor, well organized material, and well-organized course. There were no surprises, and that is always apprectiated!
She is a great teacher. I like how she gives in-depth announcements every week, and also touches up on the chapter in the announcement.
Great instructor. Very open and quick to communicate.
She was very well structured and always kept us on task every week by sending us weekly announcements. Grades were always updated timely and she went above and beyond creating notes and power points for us! Thank you!

20. My overall evaluation of this course is...
This class may have opened up a whole new perspective for me as to what opportunities I may have with accounting degree.
good class, and organized teacher
that it is very complex and could be overwhelming if you don't know how to manage time your appropriately. Getting quizzed on every chapter forced me to read every page of the chapter and all handouts, something I have never done before in my life as a student. But having the reading materials available way in advance made the reading much more bearable.
Overall this was a pretty good course. There wasn't too much expected from this course which was good.
I enjoyed having this class online. It was not hard to understand. The subjects were interesting to me. The structure and availability of the teacher made it even better.
Very important, especially for accounting majors
Was a good course to learn all of these different aspects in AIS.
hard class but so much important material for real life
great, I can recommend this course and this professor without hesitation.
Excellent -- I like the layout: weekly 10 question quizzes(that kept me focused), power points, lecture notes, addition readings. The layout was effective in providing knowledge without consuming too much of my time. The stress was minimal and that I truly appreciate!
It was a really helpful course to better my understanding towards becoming a cpa.
important course to take for anyone aspiring to become an accountant
excellent.
Great course.
Very organized, and the gradebook is updated frequently. I learned a lot from this course and I'm glad that I took it.
Great course with valuable information.
It was frustrating, once again, to deal with Wiley's sometimes ambiguous quiz questions, and erroneous answers to quiz questions. Being the student and paying a University to teach me the appropriate concepts for a given subject, I should not have to point out answers that Wiley spits out and does not align with the reading in the text. I had to deal with this in another class as well, so I'm not sure my participating in this survey is going to improve anything with regard to Wiley. It is my hope that this survey is relevant and that proper measures will be taken to have the Wiley creators double check their quiz pool and answers so that they are in line with the text readings. If improvement is made, this would give students more confidence in the textbooks they're reading and in the testing.

Gain more knowledge on IT in this class than any of the other IT courses I have taken.
I definitely learned a lot about accounting information systems and I know I will benefit from having this knowledge, especially in our modern age of growing technology.
Interesting subject if you are an accounting major.
I enjoyed learning about Accounting Information Systems.
Helped alot
After taking AIS I know understand how important technology is to the Accounting field. This course also taught me many things about ethics as well.
This course has helped me to better understand the topic matter and allowed me to understand the technological part of IS.
I have learned how important Accounting Information Systems are. Also, the security and what lies behind it (the reasons for them).
This course enhanced my personal and professional development in my concentration by making me knowledgeable about the information that was taught and the different accounting systems.
Made me more aware of how important information technology is to the accounting profession and more insight into the importance of auditing.
I was provided with a lot of informational material that pertained to each week's chapter.
It gave me a different perspective with regards to the Accounting profession. Although it is very important to understand accounting concepts, the system you use to do the work is very important to efficient results.
Taught what was needed for the course and nothing less.
You learn a lot about accounting information system. We recently acquired a new accounting system at work so I could relate to the text in our textbook.
Learned a lot about the electronic side of business.

The lecture notes were good, but I feel they did not touch basis enough on the material that was on the quiz. Maybe a more thorough outline of the chapter would help, but the book is also a good resource. Also I think the quizes should not have a time limit.

Good course not sure how to improve it
None. I liked the readings, lecture notes & ppt.
I enjoyed her teaching style.
Some things that could be added to the course would be providing an example of an information system used in accounting. The course went over what types of systems are used, but we never actually got to experience what it is like to use the information system. That would help students gain more knowledge and experience.
No need for improvement. We were given a reasonable amount of time to complete the assignments, and just like an online course teaches you, you must do the readings and manage your time for your work.

Great teacher. It's difficult to really tell how anyone is through an online class but I had a positive experience with Prof. Matsumoto.
Excellent.
I liked this online course actually. Very self spaced..
Andrea did a great job with AIS and it was very organized. She was also always available virtually which really helped.
I thought that Ms. Matsumoto provided great lecture notes which included examples that pertained to each week's topic matter.
Great! She gives use reasonable work and a great amount of time to complete the work. She sends weekly announcements for the week to give us a heads up of what to expect.
that she is a good teacher.
a wonderful professor, very helpful, treats students w/respect.
It was a fine course but I think I learn better through in person lectures and discussions.

It was a good idea taking this class.
Accounting information systems is a very important course to take especially if you are an accounting major. It is important to know and understand how versitile the technology has become and to stay ahead of the game.
enlightening. It gave me an understanding of the different kind of duties accountants do especially private accountants and auditors who work for a CPA firm.
two thumbs up! I believe that I've learned quite an amount of information in this course that I will be able to take with me in my future endeavors.
that there is a lot of information being taught but easy to understand.
it was an interesting course, the reading was somewhat difficult at times but not too bad.
Good.
This is a good course and effectively administered.

This help understand accounting through information technology.
There is a lot of things to know in regards to technology that is accounting specific. This course introduced many different aspects of how technology affects the accounting profession.
It reminded me of the components an AIS consists of. It helped with my senior practicum and applying the experience to my classes. In my paper, I referred to a lot of material covered in this course.
The course elevated my understandings of issues with accounting fraud, mismanagement, and ways to abate them. It also gave light to the importance of AIS.
Taught basic concepts of IT, which are instrumental to working in the business fields
THis course made me more aware of information systems in accounting and how helpful they are in the work place.
This course allowed me to possibly consider a future career that integrates IT and accounting, since my current occupation deals with IT and processes that I can translate into accounting.

I though the class was good. There was sufficient material with a powerpoint, notes, and an extra reading.
Andrea Matsumoto provided extra readings and lecture notes for all chapters in addition to the discussion questions. The only thing I can think of is more instructor feedback to what is posted in the discussions.

2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
It introduces me to many computer accounting applications. Actually, this course has showed me the real accounting world. It teaches me that accounting is more than journal entries, debit and credits, and financial statement. It show me how transactions are handle in corporations. Very useful class.
This helped me not only to learn more about the accounting information system but it helped me to tie it all in to my senior practicum and as well as my full time job.
It opened my eyes to more career opportunities and how things work in real life system wise
This course provided me with the knowledge of Information Systems integrated into the Accounting field. As technology advances, the surge of automation continues to grow rapidly and keeping up-to-date with the Accounting Information Systems is vital.
I taught me how to do work in AIS.
Through this course, I was able to understand a lot more of what goes in to information systems that allow for smooth accounting procedures. There is definitely a lot that accounting information systems involve.
This was an interesting and practical course. This is the first text book that I willingly read week in and week out.
It taught me about the AIS, about separation of duties, about internal control, and all different things.
This course helped me understand the importances of the information systems to accouting.
I learned different kinds of accounting systems used in businesses. But it wasn't all just accounting systems, we learned about so may other different types of analysis systems used in a business.
Emphasize on AIS, internal control, and audit
I currently work with the accounting software Oracle and PeopleSoft and this class as brought new understanding to what i do every day at work. i have a deeper understanding of the importance of securing company information. i also see the importance of what i do on a daily basis and what PwC is looking for when they audit us every year! I work for a major publicly traded corporation and this class has helped me to understand the complexities of our AIS.
It helped me understand some of the concepts they used not only in accounting but in business as well.
It gave me more of an analytical perspective that made it easier to view things as a process.
By taking this course, I gained knowledge on accounting information systems. I'm not an accounting major and have not worked with any accounting systems prior to this class. I know have knowledge on the systems that organizations may be using.
This course went beyond theory and illustrated working processes for a variety of accounting systems which helped me to understand real applications of such systems.
It was very helpful because I'm going to be a CPA and every accountant needs to be well versed in using accounting information systems.
It allowed me to find information about the computer systems that are used for accounting.
This course allows others to see the other side of accounting that is controlled from the business end to keep things secure from being corrupted by unethical entities.
This course helped me to better understand the fundamentals of an accounting information system. It described the internal control structure and auditing procedures for AIS.
Accounting Information Systems is the future of accounting.
I learned more about the accounting field in general. I was informed with information about accounting information systems and different aspects about accounting.

In class work!
I feel Professor Winter's teaching style and course requirements are awesome. She definitely knows her subject matter and is able to pass this along to her students.
I liked everything. Maybe just a little more extra credit or assignments.
Maybe some excel assignments might help understand the concepts of the information systems regrading excel since it is used so much in accounting.
More hands on examples of the systems we learned about would be beneficial.

Many of the topics are very hard to learn by simply reading the text. I think there should be more assignments where we actually do the concepts discussed in the text. That would make it much easier to understand. I feel like I know very well what the text says, but I don't feel very confident that I can apply the concepts.
I really like the instructor's teaching style and methods of this class. I do not recommend any changes or additions to this class.

Andrea Winter is a good instructor who is very caring of her students.
She's great and always willing to help out when we have questions.
excellent! she is very knowledgeable in this area of study. she strives to bring understanding to her students by clear summaries and additional outside readings to enhance our learning. she brings real-life situations into the study to help us understand the concepts better. Mahalo!
A = because she was willing to help in any way she can and knowing that got me through this course.
Very helpful when needed, and returns grades quickly, which is good when feedback is necessary or when I might need to take extra time to learn something.
My overall evaluation of Andrea Winter is good. She is knows what she is teaching us and takes the time to answer our questions when we send her email messages.
Dr. Winter is my favorite professor that I've never met. I usually feel like online professors don't really "care" about their students as much because they never have to meet them or get to know them, but I certainly did not get that feeling from Dr. Winter. She has to be nicest and most cordial professor that I've ever had. I really enjoyed taking this class and I owe that to her.
very organized. She updates the announcements weekly to keep us up-to-date with what is being covered during the week.

The ability to work on my own schedule, no specific days or times to log on and/or meet up. I liked that there were quizzes per chapter that better enables us to prepare for the mid-term and final exams.
Definitely the text book.
The flexibility. She gave us a week in advance notice for things to be due. The quizzes were fair 10 questions for 30 minutes is awesome. she gave us ample of time to finish things.
Andrea Winter is very organized in her setup of the course requirements and her weekly assignments requirements.
Learning at our own pace.
Group work was optional -
There is not much assignments. =)
Because each week of the semester specifies what is due but there is flexibility when we are able to actually do them, I feel less anxious. For example, a quiz is due by the end of each week, but I have the option of taking it anytime during that week.
That it was at my speed and during my available time. The instructor was there to assist me and answer my questions, when I needed help from her.
I liked the convenience of it the most because it allowed me to work around my other responsibilities and still learn just as much as if I had gone to class.
She found current events and article that related to the material in the chapters we were reading. It allowed a different perspective on the topic and it gave us the job's point-of-view.
Undertanding the concepts behind AIS, and getting to know more about how the structure of an AIS is designed and works. I also liked that we were giving a little more independence in doing assignments. The work load was very managable, but at the same time it provided a lot of materials to learn from.
Convenience.
There was enough time to finish the quizzes and to study for exams.
24. What did you like least about your online course experience?
no comment.
Nothing
nothing really
Hard to teach yourself somtimes!
Its not much, but I didn't like the fact that when finished with a quiz, we needed to wait to find out our grade.
Difficult to question concepts. Everything had to be worked out on your own.
There is a lot of reading.
This is a good course to take on-line. It was easy to understand the materials.
It's very difficult to grasp some of the material because there's very little hands on learning.
There's no interaction between teacher and students, especially this course. it could have been better if it was in-class course and student get a chance to get to learn creating database.
nothing
For this specific course, it's hard to understand the concepts covered. I think this course would be better suited learning in an actual classroom setting.
I didn't have any problems with this class.
I have no complaints about taking this course online. Everything was awesome. No joke.

Lack of in person interaction.
n/a, I liked everything.
25. My overall evaluation of this course is...
I love it, it fun and useful. I wish the course can be split into to semester. Lower level for theory and a higher level for hands-on projects.
My overall evaluation of this course was that this class really help me have a better understanding of other pieces of accounting processes related to the AIS that I never really knew.
Excellent
Awesome course!
Very positive
Awesome
The schedule and set-up of the material was easy to follow and understand.
It's a good informational class but because it's only offered online very limiting on what we can really learn about and fully understand.
good
I found this class helpful and it is an integral to financial audit course I had.
very good!
A = I know that some of the concepts we covered in this class will be useful later on.
The instructor did a good job of making sure that we learned basic core concepts, but there weren't many opportunities to apply those concepts to real-life experiences and situations.
the course is a good course.
I would recommend this class to anyone that wants to work in the accounting field and even those who work in related fields because the skills you learn will only make you that much better at your job.
it was interesting to learn some of the things in this course. Although we learned about some of the topics and material in other classes, it gave another explanation. This allows me to gain a better knowledge.
I would recommned this course for any Business professional.
decent course.
The is a good course for accounting majors, maybe a requirement.

2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
Enhanced my knowledge because I had very little on this subject.
This course taught me some of the aspects of the accounting information systems.
It helped me understand a different perspective about accounting.
I think I can use a lot of lessons from this class in the "real" world.
It gave me a knowledge of general systems I will be encountering in a business professional setting. I understand how the systems benefit the company, and why they are necessary.
BUSA416 helps me widen my understand about the significance of accounting information system in a company. I learned different types and importance of responsibilities assigned to each individual in an organization, awareness about company's fraud, good establishment of internal control, and implementation of information security. These and many more topics about BUSA416 will help me to be a knowledgeable and competent accounting student.
All accounting courses I have taken up until this class have taught me how to do accounting accounting from a paper-based process. Unlike those courses, this course has taught me the various applications and software alternatives that accountants may utilize when working with information systems. This course has enhanced my personal development by making me aware of job opportunities and professions that I once did not know existed
This course gave me a better understanding of accounting information systems and all the obstacles involved.
I learned a lot about accounting information systems which could help as i pursue my business degree.
This course reinforced what I've learned from other computer classes such as Management information systems and computer science courses. It was helpful to follow up knowledge I already have, as well as new knowledge.
This course informed me about the many principles and applications ofacounting information systems. This course enhanced my knowledge in the area and I think everyone should take it because it teaches you the technological aspect of accounting, which is a must know in the accounting field.
This class helped me gain insights on challenges of being a CPA, especially being able to identify problems with internal control and also issues related to IT as well.
I have learn new information about accounting that I did not know before and going to be benefit to use this in the future.
I am an Accounting major and it gave me the knowledge of the basis of Accounting and Accounting Information Systems.
It helped in understanding the role of the accounting information systems.
Learning about accounting information systems has made me a more aware accountant of possible threats to important data entry.

5. Please comment on the activities or resources that could be added to this course to improve your learning.
Current structure is perfect and would not change a thing.
Quizzes were effective, course load was not overhelming
I think that the articles helped cement some of the aspect about an AIS.
I have no recommendations on additional resources or activities.
I though her method of teaching was pretty good. All assignments were explain in the beginning. Lecture notes, powerpoints, and additional readings were posted at the beginning of the week. Over all good
All resources and activites already provided for the course were enough to learn the material and do well.
I wish this class can be in class subject.
I would love to get a comparison of scores between classmates for quizzes and exams. I always think this information is beneficial to compare where I am at with others in the course.
There are no other activities or resources that could be added to this course to improve my learning.

19. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
maybe a put a voice on the powerpoints so that it can be understood better..
I have no suggestions for improvement.
I thought everything was well organized and well though out. I did not like the group project. It was very difficult trying to organize with 4 other people. I took an on-line course to do things on my own and on my own time. I did not have the time to be working with others.

For the quizzes, please set them to grade right after the due date and time. We get deep in suspense trying to see what we got on them after the due date and time when the grade should actually be there right after that time.
I wish this class can be in class subject.
Comparing grades of other students after quizzes or exams. Example: median grade.
I liked Prof Winters teaching style and methods. I don't think there are any improvements needed.
Her teaching method is great the way it is.
The text seemed kind of dated and boring. Needed more interactive exercises with actual Accounting Information Systems.
dont do group projects.
20. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Effective instructing the subject.
Excellent!
That Dr Winter is a good instructor.
very helpful, tries to answer every students questions and gives hints on the projects she assigned
knowledgeable, she gives the students a good amount of tools to learn the subject. she is fair in her teaching and grading. She extended deadlines for the group paper when I was going to be out of town, it shows she is compassionate about our experience and understanding of our schedules.
Dr. Andrea Winter grades fairly, gives us current materials, illustrations and examples for us to be aware what's going on in the real life, explains our weekly tasks clearly, approachable, and considerable.
she is an excellent online instructor with a very structured and organized course.
Good. When I had questions my e-mails were answered in a timely manner. All the material was available and sufficient time was granted.
Great class!
Good. She was readily available when I had questions and did a good job of providing course materials and learning tools.
Good teacher. It's great when online teachers are detailed and straight to the point and focus on the material rather than group efforts because most people take online courses to fit into their hectic schedules. She was always available for questions and gave plenty of instructions to complete any assignments or prepare for tests.
I thnk it was an good class.
Wonderful!
Prof Winter was a great professor and she was always informative in the beginning of the week with her announcements regarding the agenda's for each week. She was always prompt when responding to questions I emailed her.
She loves her job and you can tell by the way she teaches and how her students all enjoy her teaching.
Nice teacher, responsive to questions.
very good teacher.

27. What did you like most about your online course experience?
Convenience
flexibility
I'm able to do my school work around my work schedule.
time flexibility, open notes exams
It was flexible, but still challenging. The material was comprehendible.
The flexibility and convenience to do my school works.
I liked the fact that the quiz questions were applied knowledge, meaning that you actually had to read the chapter to answer most of them. In some of my previous online courses, the quiz questions were word for word from the book.
I like being able to do things on my own time.
I like the flexibility.
Her materials were laid out in an orderly manner. This was one of the courses that was easy to navigate through her material.
Allowed me to work independently on my own schedule
No regular class time or chats required.
It was an open book quiz and test.
I could take it at night after I got off work and put kids to bed.
Not to rush to a classroom straight from work.
We got to network with other students.
I have taken the majority of my classes online and love it. I really like the flexibility it offers, and don't know if I would be completing my degree without it.
28. What did you like least about your online course experience?
Nothing. I really like online courses.
There's a lot of reading.
Finding time to actually do it and eliminate distractions.. sometimes i end up doing something else online (like browsing, or chatting), especially if things get boring..
Group assignment. I do not see the point in 5 different individuals turning in one paper. I see why in a classroom setting group work is a testament to real life situations. But students pick online classes for the reason of it's flexibility. Having to rely on 4 different people for a grade, especially when dealing with the differences in writing styles. It was a 'grin and bear' experience. You don't want to criticize a peer's style of writing, even though you would never produce that level of work yourself, was challenging to accept.
In my opinion, online course limits my learning about the course because of lack of instructor and classmates feedback. It's different if the course has being taught in class for instructor can explain further the topics of the course.
I liked everything.
I did not like the group project.
There isn't much interaction.
Good. This online course was great! Professor winter always stayed on top of updating our course materials. She graded everything in a timely manner and kept the class up to date if she did need more time. She provided feedback and gave good instructions. I would take another course with her.
It can be difficult to manage deadlines with multiple online courses
Having to wait hours to see what we received on quizzes after the due date and time.
Without studying with the professor face to face and Without hearing the professor explaining it would got me to understand the class more better.
I find it to be alot more time consuming than going to campus. Also, alot more reading.
Online learning is not like in-class learning. The least think I don't like is interactivity with professor and classmates face to face.
nothing
My online preferences are: 1) Assignments that open when the semester begins and are due by the end of the semester. This takes the pressure off because I know I can do the assignments as I have time. 2) I had an online class this semester where the instructor assigned required/optional assignemnts. For example, there were 12 quizzes, 10 required and 2 optional. It motivated me to take as many as I could as early in the semester as possible, however if I wanted to try for a higher score I had the opportunity to do so; or if I had to miss an assignment I knew it was okay. The pressure was off and I could really learn.
29. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Excellent.
great course.. learned a lot!
Good
excellent if you know how to manage your time wisely. very helpful information for my major
good, it was a good experience and challenged me in ways I had not previously in an online curriculum.
BUSA 416 is a good course to take to help understand issues and topics about accounting information system
awsome. I would recommend it to any student interested in accounting.
It was great!
The course material isn't very interesting to me, but professor Winter made it easy to understand and get through. Thanks!
great course, highly recommended to anyone in the accounting professional study
Pretty good. I'd recommend this course to other business and accounting majors.
I thnk it was an good class.

I like the fact that we are learning at our own pace and that I can ask question and I get the help that I need.
It was very organized in that you knew where you needed to go for tests and assignments, and due dates followed a pattern. It allows you to be independent. I think it's great that we had a group project because it allowed us to interact with our peers, much like we may need to in our careers.

It was super convient. It wasn't hard to work and take classes at the same time.

26. What did you like least about your online course experience?
The lack of interaction with the instructor.
I would've loved to have some videos or other type of media that emphasized on important points. Reading all the time with no interaction can get dull.

27. My overall evaluation of this course is...
I should have taken this course last semester.
I enjoyed the course. There was definitely a lot to learn. I can't wait to see how I can apply the information I've learned to my career.

2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
It helped me gain the knowledge necessary in accounting information systems. This will be applicable in almost any business setting.
It help me be aware of internal controls within the accounting information systems.
It has taught me more insight into AIS. Also, it allowed me to understand some of the programs already being used in my company.
I learned a lot more about the accounting information systems side other than debits and credits, ledgers and journals. There are more to that and this is what the class has taught me. Having to go through a case study about audits really opened me up to something different.
it enhanced it slightly. no interaction with professor due to internet only course
Very important course to take to understand the workings of AIS (accounting information systems). I will definitely use the information studied in this course and apply it to my work as well as my personal endeavors. I learned how AIS is planned to suit a company's needs, how it is constantly reviewed and updated, and how important it can be for the financial strength of a business.
Better understanding of AIS.
It gave me a wider perspective about certain areas of my major.
Enabled me to really make sure I understand the assigned readings prior to taking the weekly quizzes.

15. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
No suggestions.
I am very satisfied with her teaching style. She is very helpful and responsive to student's questions and concerns.

the group project was not very effective since it was an online class. some students were reluctant to participate (or gave very limited input) and still received a good grade on the efforts of the students doing all the work.
The only thing I didn't like with this course is that I didn't expect to do a group project for an online course. I take online courses because as a mother I do my homework when everyone in my home is asleep, so contacting others in a group becomes difficult because most of us are "non-traditional" students who have families or work full time or even both, so doing group work is challenging.

16. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Pretty Good. Very Thorough.
Above Average
She's a fair professor and I highly recommend her to future students.
I really liked how each week the instructor gave us an introduction to the week, and what to expect. She also recapped the previous week. I felt the instructor really cared for each student, and kept us in the loop. She was also active when we had questions for her.
she is a great teacher. Very encouraging of her students and knows the material at hand.
since it was an internet course with no required chats, the course was adequate and prof. winters was as thorough as could be given the nature of the class. prof. winters is a very understanding and "approachable" instructor regarding both course info and related info (i.e. advice on major and employment opportunities). I quote approachable since this is an online course and i live on maui...never even met prof. winters...
I enjoyed the fact that the instructor is passionate about her area of expertise and translated that into our learning experience. The added learning tools -- artiles and slides -- helped enhance our learning.
Very good, enjoyable course and study.
Okay instructor.
The instructor is very professional and easy to talk to.
Very easy to communicate with online. Always was on top of the weekly assignments and grading.

21. What did you like most about your online course experience?
Flexibility of assignments.
The flexibility of taking the quizzes and exam.
Prompt response from the professor.
In interaction the instructor had with us.
I've taken online courses for awhile now and this wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I never had to work with a group before though I'm glad I did because they were an amazing group and we completed our assignment with a perfect score. I like the convenience of the online course and that I was able to do the assignment and meet a deadline.
self-paced yet still stimulating and challenging. fair grading
The convenience was appreciated, but I liked that the instructor managed to arrange the course in a way that benefitted online students where we did not feel left out of a face-to-face course.
That I could jump online anytime to get my work done and having a family it is ideal for me.
I liked the reading material and group project.
Being able to do all my course work online.
The quizzes and exams were given an appropriate amount of time.
The flexibilty.
Everything is done online.
22. What did you like least about your online course experience?
Not enough interaction.
Doing online group project. Sometimes, you don't really know your peers in the group. Group participation is low.
Technical difficulties with Laulima Gateway.
The group project. I was very hard to get in contact with people, especially when everyone is busy. A lot of students who are very busy and have families take online courses, so at times their responsiblities and mind set are not too focused with school. So at times, it shows in their work. It is difficult for someone who is also busy with the same things, takes it more seriously, and is the one getting the work done. Instead of a group project, I think an individual project would have been better.

23. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Very good and informational.
Great class
Its a good course.
I really like this course, and how the teacher ran things. This is one of the best online courses I've taken. I really think it's because of the instructor, and how she took the time to talk to us, and cared for us.
that it is highly recommended to take, especially with this instructor. She is well organized and communicates with her students on a weekly basis keeping us updated with what needs to be done for class.
good class. would recommend it to other students
Great job Dr. Winters and I would recommend this class to others.
Excellent. Hooray for online courses.
I have learned a lot in this course and I will recommend this course to fellow students.
