10. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?
The information provided by the instructor regarding course material.
The different theories and how they are all used and interpreted. I also enjoyed learning how behaviors and actions at a younger age showed how people will come to be as adults.
The lecture slides followed the book very closly and were most helpful
To me, the professor was the most valuable asset to this class. She was great.
It teaches us, students, to think outside of the box. Dr. G. did an incredible job in embedding important informations about criminology in our heads.
understanding of the course.. able to extend my knowledge of crime and how to escape from crime.
I found the assignments to be the most valuable.
knowledge
Learning the different theories that pertained to criminiology and knowing the theorists. Also learning why criminals behave the way they do.
I feel that Dr. G was very helpful and made sure that we all could relate to the material she was teaching. That was the best part of everything.
i learned the knowledge of how criminal minds think and why they do the negativities they do.
the book, posting the lecture notes and feedback from the professor about assignments and tests.
Always to ask "why" when it comes to criminology.
The professor was willing to help those students that needed it. She did a very good job of communicating everything that needed to be done.
Our paper on a specific theory was the most valuable assignment. Personal experiences related to criminology were exciting to share and interest to hear.
That Dr. G didn't spoon-feed us the information. She made us figure it out if we didn't know it. She'd give us a general direction in which to look, but WE had to find the answers. She also expected us to do the same. She really made us work for our grades and stand on our own two feet. I also learned to think outside the box because of her. Even a simple example required different thinking. Those are two of the best lessons to walk away from a class with. Those are definitely lessons that you don't come by everyday, and I appreciate it immensely.
What I found most valuable and helpful were the discussions in class, as well as the professor's own stories that related to the topic of discussion. That application helped solidify the different view points to a problem.
what are your legal rights
the cd that came with the book ended up really giving a lot of good visuals. Along with the power points
All the theories she talked about were valuable and I feel are useful. The knowledge and understanding I have gained over the months has helped me change my perspective in many ways. All the information regarding criminal or deviant acts, to laws being passed, and so forth has given me a whole new perspective.
Application of abstract concepts and theories to real life situations through examining cases covered in film and news helped deepen my understanding of criminology.
I really enjoyed a lot of the personal stories that she shared with us. They were good examples and I felt like I could have related to them.
The topics that we went over in class really helped my awareness on criminology and helped me learn more thingsthat I didn't know.
learning about social problems across America.
I found that the powerpoints helped me out a lot during this course. Also the different assignments and readings opened the course up a lot.
The videos and supplemental reading was helpful to help understand what the text was talking about and see how theories apply in real life situations.
I think the most valuable experience was learning about many types of crimes and applying Social Logical theories to find reasons behind why? crime is acted upon criminals and discovering what is label as a crime.
The instructor knew how to communicate well with the students
The broad range of theories discussed allowed us to get a general overview of criminology without going too far in depth.
the powerpoint slides as well as in class discussion of chapters in textbook.

23. My overall evaluation of this course is...
I enjoyed the class.
I really enjoyed the course and Dr. Goldsborough's teaching. It was a very interesting subject and the material we covered was also very effective and stimulating.
Things I enjoyed about the course: 1. many perspectives on the orgins of crime and factors that contribute to crime 2. thinking critically about how to decrease crime 3. reading the book was really helpful to me and i liked how the lecture, slides, and test questions were from this source 4. Dr.G really expanded on her lecture slides with vivid examples that helped my understanding of the material (and provided comic relief to vary dense material) 5. review questions after we completed a chapter Recomendations for improvement: 1. sometimes i thought that test questions were too specific- maybe more emphasis in lecture on what will be on exams 2. review questions for all chapters 3. no group assignments- i feel they are always unfair because the work is never equally distributed 4. i really did not like using laulima to turn in assignments. i think hard copies are more reliable because then i know the instructor recieved it 5. i think students that went to class should be rewarded. i have only missed maybe three lectures but many students have very poor attendance
I had a great time and learned a lot.
Overall, this course has taught me the basics of what I need to know about criminology: the degree's of murder, what is manslaughter, white collar crime, organized crime, hate crime, etc.
its a very good course., i've learn and understand more
It was very informative and I learned a lot about criminalogy.
I really was interested in this class because I am currently looking into this field of work and i got alot of information that was neeeded.
i love it
that it's a great course for anyone to take no matter what their major is.
i love it.. and think many others should take the class, especially if interrested in criminology.
Very good. I've learned a lot from this class and it's applications to real world situations in relation to crime and the justice system. Dr. G is great. She's confident, funny and has a lot of wisdom to share about our responsibility to be good role models to the younger ones and contribute to our society for its betterment.
A good course to take.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to anybody interested in the sociology field. Dr. G was a wonderful professor and I hope more people get to take and enjoy her classes just as I did.
I wish the class used a socratic method. Dr. G would ask us questions and/or state her personal opinions however at the beginning semester Dr. G was not very welcoming to student's responses and that set the tone for the rest of semester. I really liked the Dr. G's personal experiences shared. The exams and assignments were fair.
Great Course. I enjoyed studying criminology.
I love it and plan on taking more courses that she offers in the future. I love her teaching style. If she loved the material, so did the students, which means we learn more when the teacher is passionate and straightforward.
I found the content more interesting than I anticipated, and enjoyed the class because of it's application to the real world and current real world problems.
this was a good class that I would recomend people to take!
It was interesting to learn about criminology. Some of the chapters were more insightful than others but as a whole it was a great class
Excellent
Good overall class.
This class is real interesting and I would recommon this course to other students.
good. filled with lots of interesting information. in an unrelated note, laulima is dumb.
it was an interesting course that covered main points of criminology. the professor was fun and interesting. the videos were very great visual aides.
This is a really great course! I have acquired a lot of knowledge from this course and the instructor is AWESOME! Her real life experiences she shared with us has really helped me understand more about Criminology.
I loved this course. It opened me up to a different branch of Sociology that I am now very interested in.
It would be that this course is very insightful, and it does applied to everyday society issues. Thus, most citizens do not have knowledge of avioding these issues because of the lack of educational learning.
Dr. Goldsborough is an excellent teacher!
The lectures were interesting and the material was applicable to real life situations. I wish there would have been guest speakers as mentioned in the syllabus, it would have added a lot to the experience. Overall the course was taught well and I would definately recommend it to anyone interested in sociology.
i learned a lot about criminal and deviant and the learning environment is very fun and easy to apprehend the material.
