13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?

very informative and organized. a contract handed out in the beginning explained everything that was expected in order to pass the class.

Professor Davis was very clear when explaining the syllabus, and she was helpful to students that needed help.

Bebi's strengths as a teacher are that she kept very involved, answered each person's questions and made sure that no one fell behind.

I think she was a good teacher.

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?

she didn't hound you about doing your work, but she encouraged you to stay on track and not fall behind.

Professor Davis helped students who needed help on their work, and made sure they understood their mistakes on quizzes and tests. She has also reminded students that they could e-mail her if they had any problems.

Bebi would help with homework and answer questions about tests, like what to study for, etc. She truly wants all of her students to do well and pass the class. She even encouraged students to push forward so that they could finish well before the course was to be done.

She concern about the students who behind homework and always alert and encourage us to study hard and if we have time just come to Math Lab.

She walks around and checked on us to make sure we understood what was going on. She would spend time explaining the math problems.

Yes, she's cool. Friendly, not super strict.

She is friendly lady. Also I am a quiet student but she kept to talk to me and treat me fairly like other students too.

This was my first semester back to KCC and Mrs. Davis made it a wonderful experience. She has made the transition pleasant and I look forward to the next semester. Hopefully she teaches the next math class also.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?

Personable and fair.

She was very clear in her explanations when I needed help. Not only did she answer any question that I might have had, but she directed me how to solve a solution rather than just tell me the answer. I enjoyed her class very much and would recommend her to anyone looking to take a algebra class.

She is a great motivator and wants to see her students succeed. Always shows concern and wants her students to put in more work then then expected. She is very focus on having her students do well.

Bebi Davis is an excellent teacher who expaines things very well and has alot of patience for her students.

She's okay, she knows a lot about math.

When I had a problem she explained things clearly so I could understand how to do the assignment.

She would constantly check up on how far we had advanced in the class so that we could stay on track. This really helped me to finish the class on time.

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?

Always checking on every student.

She is a very encouraging teacher, as well as patent with her students. She always made sure the class understood deadlines, procedures and the homework/tests.

She makes sure that we are putting more than enough work by letting the whole class know of any due dates.

She is always asking questions to see where we were in the cource. Making sure we are on track and not falling behind.

She informs student about their progress in class and tell them what they can do to help them.

Frequent check ups and daily progressions

She would came and talked to me, as person, friend and than as a teacher. I think is great!

She would meet with them to see how they could meet their goals.

she offered tips on handling the workload for the class and keeping the students on track. she was always available to help with problems and answer questions.

She always made sure we weren't too far behind, saying it would be hard to catch up later.

by sharing with us things we needed to prepare for, and by warning us about possible problems ahead, for example, that toward the end of the semester, that the math lab might get crowded, or to use firefox appose to internet explorer because it ran smoother.

She always asked each student and check up on them every half of the semester to see how were doing. Everyday in class she looks at where we are at.

this is not to Ms. Bebi. I want to take a lecture as a normal class. This class is about$870 backs for international students and we have to code of web site like about 80 backs then there is no lecture. On my goodness,its kind of weste time and money! i need to use money form ore useful way!

She was clear and concise. She almost seems to be over qualified if that is possible. The woman is just flat out brilliant! Due to her extensive knowledge, she made the learing seem easy and fun, while still challenging. I have grown to love math once again because of the superb attitude and direction provided by Mrs. Davis. I only wish I could take her for all my math classes!

It's nice to have students work problems out on the board. It gives us a chance to ask questions, because we're moving at a slower pace.

To be honest, sometimes she wears too much perfume. It's a little distracting because I am more sensitive to smells than others so it makes me a little nauseated.

She was available an hour before class, and an hour or more after class to answer questions and provide assistance. She spent a lot of time with students one on one...

She spoke with everyone as a group and took time with individuals as needed every day with total consistancy.

She treated everyone fairly and was always available to help

She took the time to explain every on a one on one bases with each stundent as it was needed.

She would call us up for grade updates and tell us if we needed to improve our work.

Helps students when they come across trouble. Stays after the class period ended to let students do catch up work.

She seemed to care for students personally, not just in math. She made me feel that my success was important to her not just as a teacher, but as a colleague and friend. She provided help when needed, and gave direction and inspiration when students were frustrated. She taught us to independent thinkers and not always rely on a bail out from the instructor. I believe this has given everyone confidence in moving forward.

Yes! She taught her class with a positive attitude which is very helpful if and when the class becomes frustrating.

She works closely with students. When any student is in need of assistance, Mrs. Davis is always available.

Ms. Davis was great as an instructor. What needs to change is the self-taught math courses. 99% of the time whether on the KCC computers or my home computer, the videos did not play. I really needed to be able to watch those videos since I learn better if an instructor were actually teaching on a dry erase/chalk board. The questions that I answered neutral to above, I did so because they did not apply in these self-taught math courses.

If any student shows any trouble in course subject, she will work one on one with the student.

She was accessible to students and stressed to us to be ahead in the modules, not to fall behind. Again, we did not have that much interaction with her because the course is self-taught. I'd only interact with her when I had a question to ask.

Yes, she is a teacher who knows how to work well with students with the Course Compass program for Math 24.

Mrs. Davis is a wonderful professor and her lesson plans are very flexible.

The way she teaches is very compatible with the class, since it involves heavy reading and memorization. Organized, well prepared, and prompt.

Best teacher i had so far this includes some of the teachers i had from k-12. She explained the course material with an understanding to someone like me who has next to nothing on understanding algebra 1. She returned all my emails from mymath lab the very next morning and let me tell you they were a ton of emails and she return every single email the very next morning. I strongly encourage you keep her here at the lower math level 24,25 because she explains the material to you (someone with very little math skills)were someone like me can understand very good instructor. Also her assistant John was also very helpful. I remember 1 class i could not figure out a problem and class was over for the night,he wrote the problem down and the very next class soon as i walked in he called me over and showed me step by step on how to calculate the problem i had trouble with and went over it with me twice untill i understood it.....this class and both of the instructors was....a 10+....

She has a sense of humor and understands that math is difficult for alot of people.

My professor Mrs. Davis was an excellent instructor. She really made me want to always have a good attitude and try my best, and never give up. She gave all student good encouragement throughout the entire course. I had to go to the mainland for a medical procedure so I am not able to complete entire course will be back in January to finish it. This is the first time I took math and felt relaxed and highly motivated by the professor and her helper.

instead of putting learning the material on the student, you should teach the material for each section on the board. allow the students to engage in class discussions. it's your job as a teacher to teach. the amount students learned from you will dramatically show in their homework, test, and quizzes scores. the only reason why i was able to get through this class so easily was because i learned this material before. for my classmates, a lot of them didn't know much taking them three times as long as me on a section.

As far as this class none.Also i would keep the class the way it is on the computer because that way everyone can move at their own pace. Their are alot of resources kcc offers if you fall behind, 2 instructors per class,math lab open 5 days a week with 2 math assistance helpers,friday workshops, tutors....thats alot of help i would take all of this over a basic lecture math 24 course....anyday

Regarding the students that were falling behind, she encouraged them to continue and try harder. With regarding the course, I think it is unfair to judge the teacher to hard because we did not have a lecture type course. I think this is a lot harder learn in that type of environment.

Being that it was a computer based, learn at your own pace course, there was little interaction for teacher-student instruction so I feel that most of this eval doesn't apply to the instructor. I went to the workshops and they helped me but I would have liked to have one day per week mandatory classroom instruction. Also, I felt the mid term exam wasn't fair to what the subject matter in the computer lessons were.

This class was not very organized. When questions were asked they were not answered clearly. It was difficult for the instructor to assist students as everyone was on a different section so she was having to run around to each student and there just was not enough time for her to get to each student. Rules changed every class what was said at one class about grading was changed by the next class that was very frustrating.

This course is well taught at very fast pace. In my opinion, Bebi Davis is definitely one of the best instructors at HCC. Mrs. Davis has the right energy to keep your attention for the entire course. I would recommend this course to any student willing to put in the time and effort required to keep pace with the information. Also, Mrs. Davis has a way of connecting with student through her life stories that's inspiring.

Oh my goodness, she's awesome. She constantly encouraged the class to get together for study groups to discuss homework or prepare for a chapter test coming up. She drilled into us that every time she gives a review for a quiz or chapter test, to re-write the problems with different numbers to help remember the operation. She's very personable with her students and because she's so easy to talk to, you end up building a friendship with her. I wish I had her for all my classes. Too bad you couldn't duplicate her.

The strong points were the examples and drive she gives you to succeed . Always gives her tips and other alternative ways to help other than just looking at a book .

she helps you understand the assignment. What do you expect she is the teacher of the year.

The instructors have great communication skills. She know all her math skill and solving equation. Well organized and like to be neat.

kind caring support and willingness to put up with students who misbehave or disrupt class. she broke down all major problems and went through subject matter step by step making sure everyone understood how to get the work done promptly.

The teacher new the subject of math very well. Tried to motivate students to spend more time studying. Which was good.

Good technipues. she showed that she knew what she was talking abot and she helped the class out by working on basics first.

Remember that some students have been out of school for a long time and may not be up to speed. I understand that the student needs to make an effort to get up to speed...but the initial shock of sitting in a classroom was intimidating.

she helped when asked.

How did the instructor show concern for student is offering tutor or help. She will care about the student grade and see how she can help us. she will give ex credit.

I feel that when the instructor circulated the classroom to help individuals , it was a show of concern for our learning.

She always walked around class looking at each students work and correcting them if they got the question wrong.

The instructor would assist the students with any questions they had during class.

Ms. Davis made it a point to walk around the class and assist as students worked on problems.
