12. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?

she gives real examples to help understand concepts. and offers additional work for extra help Gave reminders, met with students outside of classroom. She knows her stuff. She is very clear in class -very nice, easy to approach and ask for help -powerpoint slides were very organized, not an overload of information all on one slide she showed an interest in what she was teaching so it made class more interesting. the writing assignments helped me to keep up with the class material. Very organized, lessons were well-planned, everything was straight forward. she spoke loud and clear during lectures and the way in which she presented the material was interesting and kept the class's attention. also, not posting lectures online made me even more motivated to attend lectures and really helped me in the long run. Very prepared with lecture. Everything is organized and time is well spent in class. she got a lot of information to give you She gave a very straightforward lecture with a lot of information in a way that made it easier to learn/remember. Not sure The video clips were helpful in displaying a clear example of the subject matter. professor knows that this is an introductory course and teaches accordingly. doesn't make exams too difficult and content is easy to understand. She tries to relate the content to real world situations. Some students probably thought it wasn't very helpful that the slides from class weren't posted online, but I thought it was a great way to keep everybody coming to class and paying attention. The one time I needed to visit Dr. Frazier during office hours she was very helpful and eager to assist. Offered help to students outside of class and overall friendly demeanor. Depth of explanations in topics about developmental psychology. Organized and detailed powerpoint slides. I found posting study guides for exams was the most valuable part of Brandy Fraziers teaching. power points and videos helped to understand material, seemed to be interested in material that she taught which helps She explained the concepts very clearly. She was very knowledgable about this field of study making her a valid source of knowledge for questions and answers. She always came into class with a very positive demeanor which made all of us feel at ease. Very helpful, made things clear She really seems enthusiastic about what she is teaching and that enthusiasm keeps the class awake and engaged in her lectures! When Dr Frazier discuss any new ideas or concepts, she used many examples and video clips to provide visual explanation thus leading to a more comprehensive approach to teaching. Her slides were really informative. Chock full of information and nothing boring or irrelevant. Most valuable and helpful things about Professor Frazier is that she really knows what she is teaching and is open for questions and help. Her videos are always relevant to the class lectures and they really helped me understand the concept a lot more. I loved her enthusiasm, her knowledge, and her well-written tests. Frazier speaks in colloquial language, which makes learning the material a lot easier than if students were spoken to like genius scholars. Also, her explanations of terms and studies are clear and easy to understand. She was passionate about the material and knew what she was talking about. She seemed very knowledgeable about key concepts and about the studies. She freely advised us to email either her or our TA if we had any questions about the assignments or about the material in general. Study guides were easy to understand and helped us study for our exams. The videos, the fact you have to go to class and get the notes, she explains everything very well. The only compliant I've heard about Dr. Frazier is that she says, "um" a lot. It's silly that students are paying attention to the amount of times she says "um" instead of focusing on the content of her message. Overall, she's a very straight-forward professor and gives the information in straight-forward bullet points. For all the mid-terms she posts a study guide, so it's easy to fill out the study guide, study, and get an A (hopefully). She offers extra credit on her mid-terms too. =] Dr. Frazier is very interested in what she teaches and you can see her enjoyment every lecture. She is very upbeat and clearly explains all topics. Encouraged students to seek help outside of class. Videos helped to better understand. Writing assignments allowed for reflection and applying content to real world. FUn and interesting class. There is a lot of material but she explains it well and gives a lot of examples. the information of the power point slides I find the fact that she is very knowledgeable in her topic of teaching and talks very clear and fluently to keep us attentive, and the amounts of pictures and video clips which further clarified the subjects she showed us. Brandy was able to show a lot of very interesting examples and videos to further explain concepts. She knows what she is teaching very well and does more than most teachers who just teach from a powerpoint--she will relate the material to real life examples. Learning about the development of children and the different theories on child development. She was approachable. She was always available if help was needed. Although I never went in to discuss any of the material, I knew that she was there if I needed it. She's really clear when teaching and points out what is important of the material. She's a great professor. I wish I had her for my other psychology classes! she covers the material real well, and has a good pace. not too fast, not to slow. Her videos help demonstrate the experiments discussed in lecture. Seeing a visual helped me see the various results from the studies conducted She was willing to go over slides if you missed class! she knew her topics and explained everything in a clear and super understandable way! Her genuine interest in what she was teaching. you can tell its her passion which makes its all the more interesting She seems very passionate about what she is teaching and I have really enjoyed this class a lot. She speaks clearly and succinctly, doesn't go off topic, and has good examples and pictures relevant to what we are learning. She seems vey approachable and makes sure to make herself available to meet outside of class. She also explains new theories and ideas very clearly. Her lectures are very organized and easy to follow. She give her students reminders of what is coming up for the class so that we become prepared. She communicates very well to her students from the beginning of lecture, using email, and laulima. did not put powerpoints online so there was more incentive to pay attention and take notes. also videos were informative and fun. explained concepts clearly. Flexibility with scheduling exams. good explainations of subject matter available to talk to She was very interesting. Very helpful. I like how Professor Frazier used a lot of video clips to deepen our understanding of developmental psychology. Without the videos, I think it would have been difficult to understand some of the concepts such as Piaget's theories and infant motor development. She was also very organized in her powerpoint slides and made concise points on the topics, which made it easy to understand the material. I also liked how she often incorporated different cultural perspectives. Explains everything in depth. She is very clear about everything she teaches. She also shows an interest and a knowledge in what she is talking about. Brandy also makes herself available to students and is willing to help when students need it. I love the videos that helped to explain some topics in class. Very nice and eager to help students. She was very willing to help, seemed to be very knowledgable of the topics discussed in class. Some of the topics that weren't as interesting were made interesting by youtube videos. The videos also gave good examples of the topics. she really listens and makes herself available to students. that helped me out a lot. Very passionate instructor and keeps students entertained. her lectures and slides are very clear and flow nicely. taking notes in class was easy to do because she presented the materials clearly and at a managable pace Her energy! I think that made lecture so fun to attend and her obvious interest in the subject matter made me want to listen. She's always reiterating that she has office hours, which is something that not a lot of professors do. Assignments are posted with more than enough completion time. Dr. Frazier makes herself available, even through e-mail. She gives great examples of experiments and real world applications to keep things interesting. Her videos keeps things fresh. Great lectures overall. Effective way of teaching the material with the use of Powerpoint and the videos related to the topic of the day. She was a very good teacher and explained concepts very well. She made sure that everyone understood the material before she moved on to the next lecture. Frazier is very knowledgeable and is very helpful in explaining difficult topics.

13. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.

I think this class needs should be able to fulfill the W requirements under the core classes for the University. Because of the high volume of written papers it is comparable to other writing intensive course I have taken put some of the slides up earlier because sometimes rushed through them Format/edit exams to not make it count such a big part of the final grade. Make your class more fun. Loosen up. Don't make the course so powerpoint-heavy. All we do in class is take notes for 50 minutes straight. After going through a psych course with powerpoints listed online and one without (this class), having the powerpoints provided online helps a lot with following in class. I would suggest putting slides online but maybe perhaps not all the details to the slides so that students who come to class can fill them in. Also if she could watch her speed as she goes through the slides especially since they are not posted online would help out immensely in class. People who dont use computers often struggle to keep up. Stop saying "um" every other word! It makes it hard to follow what the point is. She said she was flexible with meeting with students for office hours, this was not the case with me. I asked for a meeting time because I missed one lecture due to a family funeral and she was rude about it and not helpful. She told me to talk to the TA and she was the same, rude and not willing to help me get the slides either. Thankfully another student was nice enough to send me the slides. -if slides were available online (laulima) it would be even more helpful i think the powerpoints should be put up on the internet. It gives students a fair chance of studying and getting access to all study materials. then the students would have no excuses to make if they don't do well in the class. speaks a little too fast to copy down all the notes Videos and powerpoint is good. Faster answers to emails. she can't go into so much detail at this low of a course. too much info is put in one exam. Can maybe make the class more interactive, although perhaps not since that would give less time for actual lecturing, which took an appropriate amount of time each class. Putting the lecture slides online because she goes way too fast for everyone to write it all down. post slides online? Try not to fit so much information in such a short time. I'm sure the future students would hate me if they read my suggestions, but I felt the exams could be more difficult. Maybe I just picked up the material very easily, or Dr. Frazier's teaching style was very effective, but I got high grades on all my exams. Giving out the slides before the class or giving out some kind of material that has what the lecture has in it. Hand gets tired of writing down everything. I would suggest to post the PowerPoints on Laulima because the professor talks to fast in order for us to follow along. maybe spending a little bit more time on each slide so information can get written down a little better. Maybe speak louder or turn the microphone up. I know the microphone system is bad though. Criticisms would be to post the lecture notes that will be covered on each exam maybe two days before the exam. That way any notes that we may have missed in class and we wish to look over will be able online versus having to bother her all the time. I also feel that the study guides should be more concise and too the point as to what the exam is specifically covering. Most times, I felt that the study guide listed certain points, but sometimes on the exams, there would be questions pertaining to points that were not listed on the study guide. No suggestions. I love the powerpoint/video/lecture thing. All the information is straight forward, no frills. If she would go a little slower so my hand wouldn't cramp up during some of the slides that would be nice. N/A There was so much to copy down from the slides, that sometimes I wasn't able to listen carefully to what Professor Frazier was saying. And there wasn't much time to comprehend whatever I was copying down because it was on to the next slide. Her teaching style is great just the way it is. The only thing that I can think of is that sometime she talks a little too fast to get down all of her notes, especially for those students that are writing as opposed to typing. The first thing that comes to mind is that the class puts too much emphasis on the power points. Although many other lecture classes use power points, the pace was a bit too fast for my hand to keep up. I felt like I had to write extremely fast for me to keep up with the slides. I was eternally grateful every time there was a short clip for us to watch because it gave my hand some time to recuperate for the next wave of slides. What I would recommend is to use less slides with major points and maybe use a bit more visual aides and personal stories that would help us learn the material (ex: pics, clips, diagrams, witty comic examples, personal experiences, stories of other people, etc.). We could still be able to take notes on points that you explain to us and maybe point out that we should take notes on your explanations in addition to the slides. Another is that some of the questions on our exams were a bit tricky. I noticed that we really needed to know the material well in order for us to do well. The study guides were helpful, but it would be much more of an aid if you gave us maybe 5 or 6 sample short answer questions on our study guide and choose 3 of them as mandatory short questions on the exams. That would require us to know and study all 5 or 6 points in detail, which will ultimately help us retain those specific material in the long run. She is a great teacher, she is prepared with videos that are useful and help to explain concepts she explained. She is great, no problems. One suggestion, I would have is to pause and ask if anyone has any questions. Although it's a large class, I still think it could have been a little bit more interactive. Maybe prompting for questions would have achieved this. It would help a little to have some of the ppt lectures because there is a lot of information. but overall she's a good professor. more videos None. Some days I will leave class with a hand cramp because we take so many notes so quickly. Go a little slower during lectures. I think it is fine. A good balance between video clips and lecture. Despite the amount of information on each slide, she is able to talk about the slides long enough for people to finish writing them down. That is, there are not any silent pauses like in other classes. LOVE the videos. I'm a visual learner and when it came to the exams the videos always helped me through it. If it would be possible to shorten the study guides to specific things we need to focus on rather than just having everything that was discussed in class. nothing, she's awesome nothing. Please keep all of the videos that you showed because they were very helpful. Post the notes online please. Speak slower, missed a few slides because we moved to quickly. better study guides She talks fast and flies through slides quicker than I can write or type. So I miss a lot of information. I think Professor Frazier has done a really great job at teaching the materials. Perhaps she could open up some discussions to the class so that students can have a chance to talk about what they think on certain subject matters. I also think that the TA should give more feedback as to how we can improve our papers because her comments were vague. Perhaps talk slower. Nothing much to change. No suggestions. For exams, there should be more multiple choice questions so that getting four questions wrong won't already drop your exam grade one letter. None. Either add more papers to make it writing intensive, or cut a few of the papers. Power points are really important and perhaps finding another way to bring students to class would be helpful. because i had to focus on copying all of the notes i had no time to listen to you explain each. Makes it harder when we have to study each as we dont remember anything from what we write. Some of the test questions/ essay questions were hard to understand, other than that no problems. more short answers on the exam. the exams were fair, however, i think there should be less multiple choice and more short answers. She talks kind of fast and I sometimes miss the information on the slides because she goes pretty fast. N/A i liked her style of teaching she showed video clips to see examples and power point lectures seem to be the most effective way that i learn. Students become robots in this class. I understand there is a lot of course material to be covered but when we are reduced to madly scribbling notes, we cannot effectively listen and learn the actual material. We just write and write and write. I have experienced many hand cramps. It would be beneficial for all to have Frazier post the powerpoints online in Laulima- it doesnt have to be all of the material she teaches, just the basic guidelines so that students will still have to come to class to learn and do well in the course. Basically, all we do is take notes (6 pages worth of notes every class!!) for the entire 50 mins. She literally just reads of the slide. Vary teaching styles. Lectures often seemed long and arduous.

18. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

in class clips and video on topics. kept me engaged Powerpoint presentations, extra credit opportunities I liked this last part on bullying the best since it applies to what we see in the news. the research experiments the professor cited throughout every lecture, they were interesting to learn about. also, the videos she incorporated into the lecture were great too. The topics are very interesting and the assignments are good. watching clips for better understanding The lecture, since it's a topic I like. the extra credits I liked Dr. Frazier's pace. She always talked just fast enough to keep me engaged in my note-taking so that I would be taking in all the information, but also able to keep up with the lecture. The one day I missed notes I was able to come into her office and copy the notes down, which I thought was very helpful. The videos that accompanied the slides. the videos were very interesting The information presented was quite interesting. power points, videos I liked watching videos of experiments and examples of what we were learning. I really liked all the videos that she provided, not only did they help us to grasp the understanding of the concept but they were fun and delightful as well. I really liked the audiovisual materials that were presented in class because they helped me grasp the concepts that were in the powerpoint better. I find the contents of the course quite interesting. In general, I just liked the material we covered because I thought it was all very interesting. I liked when she used videos because they really helped me understand what she was teaching. The videos are always relevant. I like how we take at least 3 to 4 pages of notes every lecture. I liked the response papers that we had to write because they really made me think; especially since all of them were concise one page papers and they made me go straight to the point. I also like how she gives the study guides a week before the exam so us college kids can really use the time to study what she wants us to know. I really loved the incorporation of videos into the lectures. Not only was it nice to get little breaks between writing, but they were really relevant to what the lectures were about. I appreciated the video examples, they made the examples of the lectures more real, and showed that what was explained in class was happening in real life. I really enjoyed the short clips we were able to watch. It helped me understand the material better and actually see how these points can be applied/seen in the development of children. This course would be much more enjoyable if there were humorous pics/comics that gave examples of the material and if there were much more real life/personal examples of the topics discussed. I've found that teachers who used these methods had higher appraisal and classes were much fun to attend. The material was also much easier to understand and easier to retain because I could refer back to the examples and remember what topics/key words were used. Well the videos were instructive as well and adorable, i feel i can relate the information learned into real world situations. I really loved the study guides and I personally loved the tests. They were as easy as you would think--it's actually a lot of hard work. But it definitely pays off and you learn a lot about development. Good if you're planning on going into childcare or if you're going to have a child yourself. I enjoyed that we were able to write papers and were given the chance to show we understood the material besides on test. I liked her teaching style, i wish all the other professors at manoa could teach with such vigor and the notion that they love to explain. Others are plain and boring, but brandy has lots of personality in her lectures, which keep us all drawn to the information. I liked the fact that this course had so many papers and exams so that your grade is not ruined after one poor test. Learning about different theories on child development I enjoyed watching the video clips and being able to see real life examples of what we were learning about in class. I could relate to all topics. Interesting, relevant video clips. The professor made good use of the time available. Good lecture structure for such a large class. All of it. The video clips were really interesting The videos all the videos! and short paper responses! finally a class where one page is sufficient! all the lectures were interesting. Never boring. I really enjoyed the video clips, it really helped show the reasons for particular theories, especially for those that haven't had a lot of interaction with children. The topics and videos. Opportuites for extra credit. I enjoyed the studies I participated in. everything Documentaries Videos The assignments Her own interest in the subject helped a lot. I liked the video clips the best because it gives a visual sense of the different stages and theories in developmental psychology. I also like how her writing assignments made us critically think and how there were response papers and assignments for the different stages of development. The many video clips that were presenting helps to improve upon the topics covered in class. I liked early childhood the best because I liked to see how their development changes so quickly. I really enjoyed the videos and extra credit opportunities. Homework assignments were a nice way to apply what we had learned. i like the homework. perhaps giving more homework would help us to look into the material more and help us to remember it as we have to look at the material on days without class. Learning about factors in childhood that influences behavior in adulthood. the example videos shown in class were really cute and helped me understand the concepts better. I really enjoyed Dr. Frazier's energy during lecture. Seeing that she seeemed to enjoy the content made me enjoy it and really made it fun to be in class. I also appreciated all the (cute) videos. I feel those really reinforced the main points and the visual aspect made it easier to remember concepts. I loved learning about the social psychology of infants. I found the information in this class really interesting and also valuable in the real world. The assignments that allowed us to related the material to our everyday lives. I liked the material, i thought this class was very interesting. The actual material is interesting.

like the youtube, and video clips None I enjoyed the class, but if the slides were online it would be better. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um... put the powerpoints online great professor:) I took this course because I wanted to take some higher level psychology course because it's interesting to know. At the same time, I was having a crisis in choosing my major. This class made me a lot more interested in psychology in general, and now I'm very greatly considering majoring in psychology. I prefer more conversational/discussion type lectures. However, it is difficult for this course, having a large amount of info to learn. None Very good teacher. This course was truly a lot of fun to take and I have retained quite a bit of knowledge as well. I would recommend this course highly to anyone who has an interest in this field of study, you won't regret it. It was a really interesting course and I thought that the material was discussed thoroughly and in a fun way. Overall, I think professor Frazier is a great instructor who understand her materials well and are able to communicate that understanding effectively to her student. She is accessible and very helpful with students who needs extra time/help outside of class. The book wasn't as essential for me as I thought it would be because I hardly read from the book. Because her lectures are based from the book and are summaries of concepts, it's a little easy for me to put the pieces together. But the book is a good source for studying after every chapter because there really is a lot of material that she covers. Other than that, she really is an awesome teacher and developmental psychology is so interesting; whether or not you're a psychology major. This was my favorite course this semester. The information was interesting and memorable. I think Brandy is a wonderful instructor!! Very enjoyable. I learned a lot in this course and I would definitely take a course taught by Brandy again. Tests were too easy. But that's just my opinion. I'll miss going to class :( Good job, i would defintelry take a course taught by her. Thanks wonderful professor who cares about teaching and helping students learn. exams were from lectures and everything on the study guide actually helped prepare me for the exam! (most classes the exam has nothing to do with lecture or study guide) it would be helpful to post the notes. even if it as bare outline. you tend to talk fast I learned a lot and would recommend this class to other students. None. thank you i feel that his course was very fair and managable. the exams did test exactly the concepts in class, however not much was taken from the book. i feel that i wasted money buying the book because all the information could be found straight from the lecture notes. I really had a great time learning about Developmental Psychology. This is by far the best (and funnest) Psychology class that I have taken at UH. I find I recall more of the subject material and am even more interested by the topic than I was before. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR AN AWESOME SEMESTER. N/A There was a ton of lecture notes went very fast.it was very difficult to hand write all of them on time before she moved to the next slide. This is the only class that i had to bring my laptop so i could keep up with the pace of the lectures. Put the powerpoint up on laulima!!!!!!!! please.

12. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?

The overwhelming happiness for teaching her subject, and constant willingness to help students within class and outside of class. She is amazing and well educated in the field of psychology. I'm glad that she gave out extra credit and her assignments are very insightful and force you to study hard. She is very understanding and very easy to approach. She seems to enjoy teaching and her lectures are very educational and to the point. Dr. Frazier was very understanding of my situation and promptly responded to my e-mails. She is very organized, clearly spoken, knows her information and can present it and explain it well to the class. The TA was also very helpful and friendly and willing to help students. Her personality and enthusiasm when she lectured. She is always open to helping her students if they need help. Dr. Frazier has always offered time during her office hours and by appointment to view lecture notes and for discussions. Also, she has always been open to any questions by students and answered them effectively. Class has always been very interesting during lectures. In addition to discussing important material, very interesting videos were also shown to help facilitate the discussion. I liked the videos used to give examples as it helped me remember the material better. Also the study guide helped me organize how i studied. She was always prepared for class -Professor Frazier was available and willing to answer questions both in class and during office hours. She made the information very palatable and enjoyed speaking about the topics in the class. This enjoyment and strong interests translated into her PowerPoints that were well thought out and easy to follow. Brandy always encouraged office hours. She was there to answer any questions that I had. She explains the material well and provides the main points. Her assignments are very helpful and your midterms are fair. I am thankful that she gives extra credit opportunity. She and her TA are efficient, timely, and organized. You know what to expect and are made aware of objectives and expectations. She is extremely professional and also capable of relating well with her students. Her enthusiasm for the subject matter made everything so much more interesting to learn which made me want to pay attention more and take better notes which made it easier to study for exams. She also explained topics and research studies very well and gave very good examples for what we were learning so we could relate it to things that happen or could happen in our everyday lives. Brandy is an excellent lecturer and very enthusiastic when teaching the course content. This helped me retain my interest in the class. Interested in subject matter and very passionate. She always answers questions if you have any. -The study guide really helped on exams -She was always available if extra help was needed She is really knowledgeable about the subject and always comes to class fully prepared. She also uses many resources to demonstrate concepts. that she is a energetic professor Knows her subject matter very well. Always willing to answer questions I liked that she pretty much followed the book. really instills concepts She found a lot of relevant videos that I enjoyed watching. No need to read the book, she is a human tape recorder. Everything The facts and term of the subject in this class She is fair and her exams are challenging but not too difficult. And if some questions were difficult she gave us extra points. She always told us that if we needed help or needed to copy notes, we were welcomed to go to her office. She is fair that she does not post her notes online, but will allow you to copy them during office hours. She spoke very clearly and was always well prepared with lots of examples. What I especially liked about her was, even though it was a lecture class, she was very patient and answered any questions to the best of her knowledge while in class. She also made herself very available after class, and whenever we needed to see her. I really enjoyed her class because I really learned a lot of material, and all of the examples and research studdies she provided allowed me to internalize the material more. This gave me the opportunity to apply the things I learned in class directly to my life as soon as I got home with my 2 year old son. She also graded fairly, and was always available if you had any questions or issues about your grade. I also liked the study guides she provided, and how they held study groups for any students who needed additional help before the exams. She seemed very knowledgeable in the topics she covered. Also, she was easily approachable and I could talk to her if I ever needed help understanding something. She is a great teacher and she made the course material easy to understand without dumbing down the material. Professor Frazier was always very organized and prepared for our lectures. Lecture courses can tend to feel stale and boring, but she managed to effectively convey the subject material in a way that was both engaging and encouraging for my studying. Very available for office hours, clear notes and structure for lecture, exam format was superb, great study guide she is chill. I feel that the assignments were helpful in understanding the material however, they were kind of hard to keep up with mostly because I'm taking 8 courses this semester. she was always available to help her students, and never made you feel dumb. She gives you an opportunity to turn in assignments late and is very enthusiastic in class. Always makes herself available for help and is very knowledgable Professor Frazier is an excellent teacher, and she effectively and clearly communicates the goals of the course and the content/lessons of the course. She is very organized, and you can really tell that she has a lot of experience teaching. She is very considerate of students and their needs in the course, for she gives assignments in a timely manner and provides exam study guides with ample time to study. She also encourages questions and visits during office hours to further discuss material. Professor Frazier is by far the best teacher I have had at the university so far. If she teaches any more classes, I will surely enroll in it. Her sense of organization and her clear, easy-to-follow lecture style. She tried to answer the questions I had as clear as possible. She gave me her lecture notes for me to copy in case I missed her class or I missed some parts of her lecture. She really knows what she is talking about and teaches in a way that is not monotone but more like she is having a one-on-one conversation with you (even though its a lecture class). She is not one of those teachers that you can't stay awake listening to. tests were based off of the slides, slides helped make reading the book easier She was always available if you needed her outside of class, and if she wasn't, she made sure someone else was (like the TA). I find that she knows a lot about the subject and enjoys working with children helpful. It keeps things on topic and that way easier for my mind to categorize the material. She also used a lot of different media's for teaching. She had lots of outside resources for the class as well. I thought that it was helpful when she showed videos and clips to supplement the material to help our udnerstanding. I thought that the study guides really helped in guiding our studying for exams. I thought the assignments also helped with the understanding of the material and some questions on the exam. She always makes time for her students to make sure we understand everything we need to. She also is a very compassionate and understanding professor, a much needed figure in the classrooms. the movies and the homework everything. it was very interesting.

None n/a please keep the way it is brandy! N/A. I enjoyed this class a lot. N/a i think she organized the coursework and lectures very well and tests accurately cover the information she covers. the assignments also help to understand current subjects. Given that she doesn't give her students the lecture powerpoint presentations, it would help if she didn't switch to the next slide so fast, allowing students write the information on the slides down. Please keep it up. I think having more videos like in psy 240 would help reinforce the material better. I seem to have had an easier time on the exam because of this. -None i took her PSY 240 class so much of the material felt familiar but there were still times when she seemed to cover a lot of material in one lecture. So academically, it was manageable but just to keep up with notetaking was sometimes a little challenging. Personally, I think everything was/is great and there is nothing I would change about how the course or her teaching style/methods could be improved. Everything was on point. Test questions and answers could be more concrete. Go through the powerpoint slides a little slower because its hard to write down everything in such a little amount of time. -If possible, try to tailor the study guide a bit more because we pretty much just study all of our notes when some of the things on the study guide aren't even on the exam Maybe go a little slower through PowerPoints. There tends to be a lot of info and important concepts on each slide. more video visual and maybe more real life situations when explaining course content put the powerpoints up online. It'll give students an easier time to study and keep up with class N/A -Give more feedback -Think outside of the box, class is rather boring because it is repetitive -Allow more opportunities for engaging hands on activities or assignments, the "social" part has been totally left out of this class. -Be realistic about the review, we are taking more than just your class and knowing where to focus our attention, time and energy is important in our success as well as overall understanding of the topics you are trying to address. None Go slower in explaining each slide more extra credit opportunities I love professor's teaching style! I have no suggestions. Maybe more fun videos! I think it would be a better idea to have assignments due at the start of the next chapter. I feel like I'll miss some information that I could have used on an assignment since I didn't get the chance to learn about it in lecture form. I can;t think of anything Different classroom (hard to stay awake from dim lighting and general atmosphere) Brandy repeated a lot of information from the prerequisite course and I feel like we could have used more new material. Perhaps going slower during lecture. I missed a lot of points and although I know that I could have met up with her after class it was hard for me to constantly find time to fill in my notes. i noticed that it is hard for people who write down their notes to keep up with the fast pace nature of the lectures. but, i do like how she gives students the opportunity to come to her office hours to get what ever material they missed in class. Maybe post videos used during lecture online. I do feel that students lose direction sometimes in the long readings without having slides posted to let them know what to specifically pay attention too. Also, it's nice to be able to print the slides and take notes off of them. Is is really so wrong for students to be able to have the powerpoint slides, so long as they learn the course material in whatever way is best for them? No suggestions. Sometimes she goes through a slide too fast--although she will always go back if you ask not everyone is comfortable asking that in front for 200 students. make things more interesting... reading off the slides and out of the text gets boring. I understand her method of teaching and note-taking, but posting some lecture notes before class would be a lot more helpful. She is boring speaker. The class felt abnormally long, and this subject is my passion. I also feel like the more I study for her class the more worse my grade gets. She goes through the material at a very fast pace and there is so much material its hard to keep up on pen and paper. I as relieved every time I heard her bottle cap twist off for her to take a sip. The honest feel I got from her teaching was as if a student had just finished reading a chapter and had to present the material to the class. -possibly talk slower -move through the slides a little slower -maybe ask to see if everyone was done with one slide before moving to the next I think that she is a terrific professor! note taking in this class is monotonous and becomes long and tedious. start losing focus brandy and focus on catching all the letters before it turns to another slide. make your slides less packed with info and slow down when lecturing. and post slides online.

The videos the research and understanding of children's development N/a the subject and how organized the material was Being able to watch movie clips pertaining to the information that is being covered at the time. Incorporating these types of media not helps with getting a better grasp on the information presented, but also makes the class more fun because its not just a continuous lecture. Watching clips to get a better understanding of course matter. The assignments were helpful in understanding course content as well. -learning about child perspectives -multitude of examples -lots of interesting material -showing of particular perspectives Everything was on slideshow, clear on what she wanted from us and spoke well -The lectures provide a very good assessment of the course content relating the the textbook. The examples that Professor Frazier highlights are poignant and useful. Semi-weekly assignments really helped stimulate the material. I really don't like just reading material and having to memorize. The assignments lets me apply what I learned and read into a more profound thought process. I really enjoyed doing the assignments as they really made us internalize, think about, and apply what we are currently learning. I also enjoyed watching all the video clips that related to what we were learning. Teachers don't often include videos in their lectures so I found this very interesting and another way to help reinforce what we were learning. They were really helpful and cute! In class videos I like how the test were given. -Requiring students to come to class to get the notes because it motivated me to come to class where I had a better understanding of the notes from hearing the lecture instead of just seeing words I enjoyed the clips in class that demonstrate concepts- really seems to help! watching her examples of the material in a video. The lectures were always interesting and thought-provoking. I enjoyed watching the videos. The assignment ideas were good, but the follow up on them was not. Also, the timing of turning in an assignment, not knowing if you did it correctly and then being tested was not helpful. Everything I liked learning about children and how to be a better parent The videos! And the teaching style! I liked being able to apply the material directly in my life. I enjoyed her lectures, and appreciated the fact that she was always punctual at starting and ending on time. It was a great course, and she was a great teacher, and I will definately enroll in another one of her classes again because I was able to learn so much from her teaching methods. I liked the movies we watched in class because they made the material more understandable. Video presentations. the videos and surprisingly the homework was a lot of fun to write. The book was interesting and wasn't hard ot read and understand. I could skim it and still understand concepts. The study guides are amazing. they are a little long with a lot of information but they help out a lot. I really enjoyed learning about the different studies relating to child development. The course material was very interesting. I like when she teach her class with passion and she seemed to be enjoying talking about the subject we learned. Also, I like how the videos she showed us this semester gave me the example on what we are learning and it is easy for me to understand what she was trying to teach. The films and the assignments given out I liked the videos clips and the writing assignments. videos The course load wasn't too demanding, yet you needed to demonstrate the right amount of knowledge. I liked the subject. I liked that the environment in the classroom that the class was held in was very encouraging and lax. it made learning such complex material very easy and not so stressful. I think the TA and Brandy's organization and the way that they taught was helpful too. I liked the clear and concise notes that Dr. Frazier gave us as well as the study guides which were very helpful when studying for her tests. the majority of the course was interesting and enjoyable

Your tests are still a bit challenging. I studied very hard and made study guides and sought help yet I still scored below 75% on every test. I don't know how to get an A even if I tried hard at this point Although psychology is not my major, I thoroughly enjoyed this class and will definitely apply the information I learned in my life. This class was very beneficial to my education. N/a i loved the course and would definitly take another course with brandy Thank you This class needs to be able to fulfill the writing intensive requirement for the university because of the high volume of written assignments. -Possibly adding more recent information or current studies in the field in addition to the studies mentioned in the textbook Brandy is a great lecturer. She vocalizes clearly and projects just enough. I enjoy how video clips are presented in class. I spend hours watching them when I'm "studying". Thanks for all the help! Thank you for introducing me to Rafe Esquith and the Hobart Shakespeareans - i have since read two of his books, applied course material and his practices into my own life with raising my child. I felt that the tests were challenging, especially the multiple choice questions. The essays were for the most part, the easiest because they were easy to identify on the study guide and really simple and straightforward. Thank you for the extra points from difficult questions. I would have gotten a lot of C's if not. Test questions and answers could be more concrete because even though the exams were multiple choice, I am not a fan of "all of the above", "none of the above" or "only A and B" type answers. -Great teacher! Really enjoyed this class, Brandy is an excellent teacher! she is a great teacher and I hope she keeps teaching social development of children. I would recommend her to a friend. Put the powerpoints up online The course felt like a "rote" learning course. Any deviations from exact copies of what was stated in class or in the book was rewarded with point deductions. The assignments did not improve knowledge or understand as the feedback was generalized and vague, the clearest distinction being whether you repeated information from lectures and the book back effectively. The review was almost useless as it was long list of nearly everything in the book, after completing one review I had over 17 pages to review for one exam covering 3 chapters. When asked for more specific direction on what to study I was told basically to "know it all". Though this is a subject I am quite interested in, I do not feel encouraged to take another developmental psych class. Tests were harder than i thought they needed to be. I think its fair to give extra credit! but limit the amount we can do. The assignments were easy and fair. Brandy is probably my favorite teacher. hope to take more classes with Frazier in future. i also liked that, even if you aren't able to read every chapter, as long as you attend class you will get most of the information that is needed for the exams. No comments. Great class and instructor, I am very happy I took it. She is a wonderful teacher who seems dedicated to her class. She made it very obvious that she was available to talk about grades, class lectures or anything we as a student wanted to talk to her about. She would always be available for help. Constantly reminded students of her availability outside of the classroom. Encouraged good work from the students. Remained both approachable and accessible yet very professional. Appreciated her use of video clips to demonstrate concepts. Very organized and timely. She was a very good speaker, she communicated very well. Her field of interest and her ability to lecture effectively By the book, literally. there were lots of psychological studies used to help illustrate concepts. also there were many video clips to help see concepts in action. She layed out everything we needed to know during the lectures and provided ample examples and video clips to further our understanding. she is very friendly Very willing to spend time outside of class with students. Her lecture notes made it easy to study for the tests. I actually liked that you don't post the slides online. She teaches in a really easy to learn way that effectively ties in learning material to everyday concepts. When I needed to get the notes for the few days of class that I missed, it really helped that Dr. Frazier was understanding and cooperative in meeting up with me outside of her office hours. It helps going to class a great deal and makes learning more interesting with wonderful teachers like her. She went in depth during lectures and she always seemed passionate about the material she was teaching. she was willing to meet with us outside of class there is after hours Videos were a great way to communicate certain topics, as well as a way to provide entertainment while learning. Dr. Frazier communicates to the class extremely well. It's easy to understand her and the material. That she makes herself completely available for any questions we have about the chapters and the papers. always willing to help had very convient office hours She's very easy to talk to and she makes the lectures and material easy to understand. How much she stresses the importance of her availability and willingness to help students and resources available to students that may need help with writing. The videos in class help put into the perspective what she was talking about in lecture. It helped to understand the points she was trying to make. Focused on the important areas of developmental psychology. Loved the section on prenatal development and infancy; very interesting and knowledgeable. She will meet you outside of class if you have any questions about exams, your grade, or response papers. very open to helping students nice fair availability.

13. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.

Her powerpoints were very helpful, except alot of information was on or towards the bottom of the slides, making it difficult to read. Because of the amount of information on the slides, it would be helpful if she posted them online. Class seems like it would work well if it were smaller. Possibly have two 75 student classes. make the tests a little easier to understand. I went to EVERY single class and only pulled off a C There is too much covered in some of the classes. At some point, it seemed like I was just coming to class not to listen but to copy what was on the powerpoint slides, because there was so much stuff covered in a short period of time. Focus the lecture more on the important stuff and assign homework for the peripheral material. i really liked her teaching method (lectures and videos). maybe if she asked questions of the class more such as "did you ever experience this?". i understand it is difficult in such a large class, but i think that would be good if possible. maybe considering posting the powerpoints after class has been taught. even though I sat there every class and took notes on a laptop to catch what you were saying that wasn't on the powerpoints and copy down the slides made it a little frustrating. She did a good job, but was slightly intimidating to approach.. maybe talk a little slower, and post notes online Lectures sometimes seemed like they were being rushed through. Revision of course material would be helpful, instead of cramming more material into a short period of time. Involve the class more with open disscussion. It's nice to hear other student's questions and opinions. Also, there was a lot of writing for this class, maybe consider for a WI credit in the future? for the writing assignment, i was always written "you need work, go to Writing Center" for the 10 points paper. But, a week before is not available for WC. So, I think, she should schedule for writing assignment on the syllabus, so I can schedule WC soon. Talk slower!!!! I understand that there is a lot of material you want to cover, but being that you do not post powerpoints or notes, it makes it VERY difficult to copy down the slide and elaborate those slides with notes that you verbally discuss. This was very fustrating at times, but still the class was alright. I feel like what she was teaching was straight out of the book, but she was able to summarize it shorter but felt like i wasn't learning more out of the book a lot of the stuff on the exams was only discussed for the briefest of points during lecture and hardly at all if at all in the book. I think the main points that are asked about on the tests should be covered better in class. Allowing powerpoints to be posted up would be nice. She could go a little slower through the lecture because majority of us don't bring our laptops to class &by the end of the class my hand starts to cramp. I don't know why but I often found myself very bored in this class. Maybe it's because I don't find the subject that interesting, or that the class seemed to drag on for a really long time. I learned a lot though, even if it's not a personal favorite. none N/A None It was a little hard to take notes in class because sometimes there was a lot to write down and she moved a little fast through the slides. Also because I was so focused on copying down the notes from the powerpoint slides I wasn't able to really note or focus on what she was saying on the side. It would have been helpful to have the powerpoints available to us, so that instead of just rushing to copy down powerpoint slides I would have been able to listen to what she had to say and note that instead of just scrambling to copy. I didn't feel like I was really paying attention to her or the material as much as I was just scrambling to get powerpoints copied. send the notes out when students arent able to make class due to school organized events. The lectures go much too quickly. Your hand literally never stops moving from start to finish. There is no time for questions in class. It's hard to listen to the teacher, look at the slides and be writing notes the entire class period. There should definitely be time for asking questions. n/a I think it would be helpful to post the slides on Laulima because we cover so much in just one day of class and it's easy to miss some of the bullet points on the slides. nothing.. but i htought the class was kina boring. but that may be because im not really interested in the developmental part of psych. SHe is a great teacher though. she just reads off the slides, she dossent make it intereesting. she should put some charisma and emotion into it or something. Slow down and give students a little bit more time to write down notes. Or provide a copy of powerpoints online or at least an outline of slides. Study guides should be narrowed down more to specific topics covered in class. There's usually way more material on the study guide that is not covered on the exams. Also, a short review in class would be more helpful as not everyone can attend the informal study sessions. Possibly using less big words in her presentations? Slow down! Most days it was very hard to keep up with her presentations. I feel like the short answer portion of the exams should be worth more none Lectures are spoken to fast. I'd rather have Brandy teach with her knowledge. It feels as though her lectures are right out of the book. Teaching with more insight other than the book would encourage more students to attend class in my opinion. Provide more time to copy notes, sometimes I found myself missing some lines because you were moving so fast. I didn't like how she basically read off her power points. I could've just listened to music while she lectured and write down whatever was on the screen. If anything, I would say this class could be more challenging. I would have enjoyed working on more papers and I would like it if the final was cumulative so that I would be made to recall concepts from the beginning of the semester. Goes too fast during powerpoint lectures. While I understand the reason behind not posting the powerpoints, but it's kind of hard on my wrist when trying to write quick enough in class. Loved the how video clips were integrated into the lecture material. Helped me see the studies presented, visually. None. Allowing for more time to write notes from the slides would be helpful. I would suggest giving students the opportunity to fix their mistakes and better out their assignment papers within a reasonable amount of time to get a better grade because it is not helping students at all to receive comments on the assignment papers and know its a done deal. nothing =) The only thing that would make this class better is if there were interactive lessons but it's hard to do that because it is a lecture format. Keep up the great work! I would say that, maybe if someone missed some information on one of the slides, to maybe let them look at it after class ends before the next class comes in. she does tend to talk very quickly and being that we have to copy notes and also take notes on further comments he makes not included on slides, its hard to get all the information in. So, slowing down her lecture or her speech may be something to improve on. Also, she tends to say "um" almost at the beginning of every sentence and sometimes every other word depending on the slide/content. It gets distracting at points, so that could be something to improve on. I understand why the slides are not posted, but sometimes the lecture goes by too quickly. There were times I had trouble keeping up with the notes. I don't really retain much after class because the information just flies by. If I hadn't taken notes on my laptop after the first week, I'd have 75% of my notes complete. Please please PLEASE slow down in your lectures. Sometimes you talk too fast for people to understand and copying your slides is hard because you go over them fast. I suggest you post the lecture slides on Laulima. Maybe slow down on some of the power points because there is so many notes more extra credit maybe a short review for exams in class too much notes get tiring sometimes try not to cram so much into one lecture; can be overwhelming sometimes

I really enjoyed the videos we watched in class. I had a better understanding of the concepts we learned in class that were paired with videos. none. Most interested in pure content. She did great in presenting a lot of material and information. The video clips were very helpful in connecting the points. Study guides were also helpful. the lectures were very clear and many examples were given to help students learn the concepts. also many writing assignments were given to help students think critically about concepts (this definitely helped me!). i really enjoyed the course material. i love children and this course was very beneficial to my understanding, even though my grade was not up to my standards. the videos Finally a professor who is awesome at using Power Point!! The use of videos helped visualize what was being said in the lecture. I like almost every material because I could know how fast children are growing. It was very interesting. The videos were very interesting and helpful to the course material. It was easier to understand certain concepts because I was able to see an example. Learning new things about infants and how they develop The movie clips used to illustrate points throughout the course. the videos Videos that were shown during class helped me better understand the topics that we learned in class. I especially enjoyed the Infancy and Early Childhood topics in the class. Another plus, there were many extra credit opportunities that helped boost your grade up. Extra credit opportunities and the response papers I loved the videos in class and the subject in general. I also liked the format in which she had her powerpoints set up. It made it a lot easier to copy down and understand. EVERYTHING The material we covered. The interesting videos I liked the videos we were shown and the powerpoints were very helpful. I liked that the lectures were on powerpoints rather than overheads because the projector is sometimes hard to see if you use transparencies. I also liked that there were video clips shown to give us more examples of things that we were learning during that time, rather than just being told about it. nothing. class was boring. The material was interesting I liked that videos were incorporated within the lectures because they really clarified and gave good examples of the concepts we were learning. All of the video clips! They made the class so much more fun and interesting. The inclusion of video clips during lectures makes me want to go to class. Everything the videos Definitely the videos. The class is also not as difficult as many other courses. That being said, it was also a very insightful class and may be helpful in the future. The videos!!! This corse got me interested in developmental psychology, and Brandy is very nice. This course was very well-organized. The assignments were spaced out so that it covers the four main sections of the course and addressed the main topics of each section. The power-point slides did an excellent job summing up the textbook chapters, and had an equal balance of pictures and words. I also enjoyed how video clips were included into the lecture, which really helped to further my understanding. I really enjoyed how she incorporated power point slides and video clips to portray different aspects of developmental psychology I liked the videos she used. Audiovisual materials. Learning about how toddlers act and comprehend material. I liked the response papers because I could think about the course work in relation to my own life and experiences. Wonderful teacher who provided very interesting material in class and the assignments were perfectly integrated into the lectures and class material. none. having a computer definitely helped for this course. she covers a lot of material each class period and to avoid hand cramping a computer is very valuable. but overall I loved the class and definitely apply what i have learned outside of class! The need to study and know all those different studies every exam and you test us on one or two was really frustrating. i understand you have to teach it and they do have apoint but when there's a lot of detailed material every exam but the exams are not very detailed oriented its frustrating. My hand hurt a lot in this class!! Thank you! I liked the course n/a I would love to take more classes from you. I liked the way you structured the lectures and I really enjoyed the subject matter. needs to be less boreing Great teacher, would highly recommend the class to others. Though I thought the class should be a lower-level writing intensive class. Papers could be extended to three to four page papers. I would definitely recommend this course to other students. She is a great teacher! none I went through this whole course without ever having once looked at the book, but I currently have a 102% in the course. I guess it is good having it there for people with learning styles different from mine, who do better reading the material, but for me, it was totally unnecessary. Talk slower. When you give out study guides maybe try not to put every single thing you go over in class on it. It makes no sense to give out a study guide with all the material on it. Narrow it down to what is going to be on the exam with a few other things. Its a little too much for an exam with 30-40 multiple choice questions and one essay question. Overall you are a good teacher, just some things need to be changed.

She is willing to meet up with students and talk to them about the class. She was very knowledgeable on the subject she was teaching. She was always very organized with her slides and made things so easy to understand Her lectures were formatted to give an easier understanding of the required readings of the course. She provided study guides that really benefits the students. The ways in which Professor Frazier related concepts to us via video clips and research studies included in the lecture really reinforced and helped me remember what we were learning. the content of each chapter was explained very clearly and it was very informative. She effectively incooperates teaching mateirals such as video clips and assingments to make understanding materials easier. that she is willing to meet students outside of class, help them, clarify questions and help achive the best grade possible She speaks loudly and gets her point accross. Very knowledgable about the course material. The things that helped me the most in her class was the videos that we had watched. as it has salidified what we were learning at the time being with the chapters that we were learning about. She's always willing to help you understand confusing concepts. She's able to meet with you when you want to discuss a subject problem, understand your exam mistakes, and she's very helpful. She was very thorough in the material she taught. She explained her lectures extensively so that the students can understand the material from the text better. The powerpoint presentations and study guides she obviously enjoys teaching she explained concepts well and her powerpoint slides were organized well She makes herself available for each student to ask questions and clarify, after class and outside of class. She always encourages students to visit her to talk about the subject material and assignments and exams. I liked the fact that she constantly gave us updates through email. She made sure we got the information we needed. Her PowerPoint slides were very useful. I never used her assistance because I was never able to meet her office hours. I find that she is very good at explain certain points i like how she makes us do papers which relate to the topic that she is teaching. Knowledge of the subject The videos in class and online assignments I really enjoyed the way Dr. Frazier conducted her office hours. We were given the oppotunity to look through her stack of slides, just in case there was anything we missed during the class. I also liked how Dr. Frazier encouraged us to come into office hours to meet with her. I have not gotten to know Professor Brandy Frazier on a personal level, or even visited her during office hours, but she is a kind and understanding individual that really lays out for her students to know that she is available to help them be successful in this particular class. Brandy makes learning very fun and exciting. Her lectures are always interesting and help you understand the material better. She has the best slides out of any class ever taken. She implemented interesting, short videos to complement the concepts, which was very helpful. She always welcomed questions and made her time available to her students. Amazing teacher overall, one of my favorites at the university. She is a good teacher. She makes it be known that she is there if you need her help and if you have any questions. Her lectures adhered to the textbook, so reading the textbook helped me better undertstand the material. (In some other classes, the textbook doesn't help much.) She seems to really want students to grasp the course material, and she is extremely clear and concise in her lectures. Her lectures were very organized and easy to follow. She explained a lot of things clearly and provided some examples to better understand the material. She's willing to meet with you and help you out one-on-one. She's approachable and friendly. She organized class time well, and was always available for help outside of class for help or getting notes because of situations that caused me to miss class. Her powerpoints were also done very well; easy to read, easy to understand, not too much information and she seemed very informed and interested in what she was lecturing about. She is constantly there for the students, always reminding that she has office hours and encouraging the students to come and see her if one have questions. Also the homework she assigns makes one actually read the book and apply what they've learned and read. -extremely knowledgeable and very approachable!! -always sincerely offers to help students outside of class always willing to meet up and help during or not during her office hours. The powerpoints proved to be very helpful when studying for the exams

There was a lot of writing for her course but I did wish that I able to write more. Post powerpoints online. Id much rather prefer to be able to learn stuff from lecture than concentrate on trying to get all the notes down onto my paper. maybe less words per slide Instead of having many short writing assignments, maybe make activities to do in-class, or outside class, as assignments, so that they are more enjoyable. Possibly add more recent studies. -the speed for the class flow was little fast. i sometimes had hard time to keep up with the speed because so many information was explained in one day. As before, her lecutres are very high-paced and the informations ( although we were suggested to paraphrase) are overwhelming. Since the slides are moving so fast, I had to focus on writing and often time wasn't able to focus on her helpful clarification and comments on the materials. i really like how you sides are set up but for those who have to write, there is a lot of information to write down She has made one or two assignments difficult because the question was uncleaer. It was the heins assignment and I thought it was different from the other assignments. Less complicated study guides The professor seems to be extremely concerned about packing as much information into each lecture as possible; often causing some subjects to be left a little unclear. The professor also talks a little too quickly during the lectures. I know that at the begining of the semester she had said that she doesnt give out the slides so it forces us to have to take notes during class and such, i dont think that is totaly benifitial, as i have noticed over the semester alot of notices from classmates went out asking for notes for differnt days of the semester. I think having the notes available for the class would be more benifital as we could print the notes before class, and write in anything around them that maybe extra points mentioned, i have done this for many different classes and it seems to help me out alot more than having me copy what she has on the board none. n/a multiple choice options are too similar to other options. one correct choice out of four or five choices is better than putting in three or four similar ones. it tends to throw people off and it takes up time trying to figure out which one is right when time is limited. thanks maybe post the ppts online but leave blanks in the slides that way students have to come to class to get the info but dont have to take as many notes talk a little slower she went through the powerpoints in class too quickly, I had a computer and I had a hard time copying notes down fast enough. It would also be helpful to post notes online. It would be incredibly helpful to make slides available online. I understand why they r not made available, but I can't write fast enough and my hand is cramped everyday after class. I would like to be able to add notes to the slides rather than write what is on the slides but be unable to focus on what u r talking about and write what she is saying down. make wording on test questions easier to understand. and there was too many questions that were confusing in that all the choices could be correct (Example: D is both A & B, and E is A, B, & C!) too many mis-worded questions like that. also, post lecture slides online please. Instructor goes over a lot of material very quickly. It is often hard to keep up, considering she does not provide lecture slides. none N/A i really like the way she teaches, nothing to improve. na Instead of lecture all the time, how about some group work? I know the class is large and there aren't many ways to effectively teach material in another way, but I feel that discussion is a good way for students to interact and understand material. Or, how about posting questions on the discussion section on Laulima for us to answer? That can make students really engage in the class and be better prepared for the exams. None N/A Sometimes I felt like there was too much information that we needed to memorize I did not like the way she composed our tests. She had a lot of information on the study guide and her questions to me were way to specific. It was hard to study for her tests because of the fact that her study guide didn't help me at all. not to blaze through slides. it'd be nice to get the notes, but it'd be nice to have more of a discussion on the matter, as oppose to just going slide by slide and not getting information absorbed. Dr. Frazier has the habit of rushing through slides and information near the ending of the class period, making it difficult sometimes to process information as well as keep pace with note taking I think that the amount of information is overwhelming and there is a lot of things to take notes on everyday. I think by condensing or going over what is most important more frequently will help student learn the material better. the exam are real tricky, maybe have extra credit points on the exam be multiple choice, or matching, maybe have 15 terms up there to match 5 questions. so it gives the students a chance to answer it without worrying about spelling Dont pile on theories upon theories that sound exactly the same It makes the tests really difficult and it makes all the information seem to blend into a big mesh of theories Perhaps give the study guide just a little earlier, perhaps a week and a half before the test instead of a week. One or two important things I want to suggest are: * the timing for course is very short, but so much information is provided, therefore sometimes I have such a hard time to listen and to write at the same time. * Prof Frazier commnunitates so fast, for us who English is not our first language facing problem to grasp everything. Post in-class lectures online. I found that students who are in class are preoccupied with jotting down powerpoint notes and are unable to fully attend to what she is telling us. Provide other ways of obtaining points towards grade. Exams are a little too tricky than what's to be expected. For example, one word in an exam question could make all the difference in getting it right. No credit is given to partial correct answers. For example, questions with choices that include two or more choices in one selection. Student picks answer with just one selection. Question is marked wrong.... Very harsh at grading papers. Course is not a writing intensive. Asks for 1 page responses but to fully articulate thoughts could require more. When more is written, pointed are deducted for being too lengthy. Study guide is provided, but should be more clear on whats to be focused on for exams. A lengthy study guide but short exam. Difficult to develop a focus and fully richly understand topics. Hmm, I don't know, it's just a classic lecture model and she does very well at that, although during her lectures she does say "sort of" too much. It's a curious habit. She mixes in a lot of illuminating video clips, pictures and illustrations, which are helpful, but goes a tad fast at times. That last bit isn't really a criticism, I suppose, considering the amount of material we need to cover. Try to be less boring. I think that she should post the lectures. I understand that not posting the slides is her way of getting people to attend class but it is unreasonable to expect busy students to make it to her class everyday. I dont think that she should care some much about attendance as she should grades. If we learn the material and do well on the exam, does it really matter if we learned it in class or learned it on our own? No changes. Everything is great! Her teaching methods are clear. I like her strategy of teaching and moreover I like how she doesn't post up any lecture slides because she expects that each student is responsible in getting notes however it may be if they miss class. It's a motivation for students to come to class instead of missing out because it is a hassle then to get notes from classes you've missed. I didn't like many of the questions on the exams where there could be multiple answers. It just made things very difficult and confusing! Ex. Both a and b are correct or a b and c are correct etc. There were a lot of these on the exams. There were so many concepts to remember, I didn't think it was fair. I see that she was reading straight out of the book. Not a problem but this class could of been online for that matter. I didn't need to go to class everyday and sit to read my book that I could of read elsewhere. I didn't like the organization of the power points I didn't feel they were clear enough. Also when looking at the test there would be 2 or 3 questions on a study that was done and we covered it for like 5 minutes. It was overwhelming to know all the studies (like 20) and memorize to have only 1 or 2 on the exam. I payed attention and went to class but did poorly on the exams because I didn't feel like they coincided with each other. Very disappointing because I love psychology and its my major but not a valuable class at all! I think the writing assignments should of been submitted online to save paper and to lessen our ink cost. I would of liked the notes to be up on the website so that if something came up and since it is a lecture class that we could just see what we needed to know and get the material down on our own. The study guides are unreal. They are 2 pages, NOT double spaced it took me over 6 hours to fill them out then tack on study time, all to get a 75%. It was really disappointing because I usually do good with that much time spent. I don't mind spending the time if when I get to the test I feel confident on the material, there is so much to know by the study guide but so little on the actual test that is covered in class that it is extremely frustrating. I don't mind multiple choice but when 2 of the 3 questions are a and b or A,C and B its confusing and hard to keep the material straight. I can see that the class is all over the board with the tests so some people may get it but just as many or more DON'T get it! There seems to be no way of properly and constructively studying for these tests because the connection between class time and the questions just isn't there! i think her test were a little to hard but that is about all. Make the exam question worth less but have more questions No suggestions. I really enjoyed the course! Provide the powerpoint notes except leave some of the notes blanks so students would be forced to come to class regardless but would not have to write so much during class. Therefore, they will be able to read and learn the concepts better because they will have more time paying attention rather than continuously and tediously coping EVERY WORD FROM THE POWERPOINTS! its hard to listen to lecture while frantically trying to copy down incredible amounts of slide notes that are not posted online. Brandy is a great professor, no suggestions Honestly, she did an amazing job. Cannot think of anything she could improve on. The test is just too overwhelming. Terms, theories and vocabulary are just way tooo much on the test. Although I can understand why it may be beneficial to have students handcopy the lecture notes, perhaps making them available online wouldn't be such a bad idea. I have always been pretty impressed by Frazier's methods (I took her other class last semester), and honestly can't think of anything. Good job! I felt that the lectures were too brief for what we were tested on. i enjoyed coming to class but the exams seemed like a whole other class. Maybe give us questions at the beginning of each lecture about important facts we need to know for the upcoming exam and then we can focus on those questions and whatever is on the study guide. Sometimes when she gives us a complete study guide of what to look out for when we study, but it does become overwhelming, and instead of understanding it, it just becomes memorizing just for that exam. The tests are very challenging and can be complex at times (but not in a "I'm trying to trick you way"), but I guess its to be expected at this level of a course. However, there is a ton of information, and it can be hard to learn it all before the test with so many other classes and projects going on; maybe consolidate the lectures a little more in terms of the wide range of studies and concepts that need to be learned throughout the course. I find the information very helpful and interesting, and there is definitely knowledge that I want to keep throughout my life (in other words, I don't want to just get by with my grade so I can move on). But with so much little information coming at once, it can be difficult to learn the more intriguing info and discern the little details versus the big overall concepts. Maybe do fewer multiple choice and more short answer or fill-in-the-blank style questions since I felt more comfortable with being able to explain the concepts through words rather than filling in a bubble. If possible, could you put terms or the lectures in your own words instead of majority like book words. Well at least half in your own words... -none, she is a great teacher! try not to cram so much into one lecture, sometimes it can be overwhelming with information and especially writing. 17. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

The course followed the book closely so that was very helpful. The videos were interesting. Material was presented in an easy-to-follow matter. Video clips and allowance for extra credit. -i really like the PowerPoints that stated each key-points very clearly and concisely with including pictures. -the content of this course was very interesting for me. -very informative -Dr. Frazier and TA was always willing to help students. The video used weren't restricted to easily accessed youtube, but other sources that would be hard for a normal student to find or access otherwise. i really like how she related videos to class materials, very effective and stimulatiing Watching videos. It helped me remember concepts we needed to know for homework and for tests. For me, the course subject and material was very interesting. there wasnt a whole lot that i can say i liked "best" about this course I liked the many videos that were shown in class. I'm a visual learner and videos help to give me clear examples of some concepts in the lecture. I enjoyed the videos that were shown in class. They helped reinforce the concepts of the studies we learned e.g. the cliff experiment. all The lectures were always easy to listen to and very understandable. i enjoyed mostly everything I enjoyed Brandy's lectures and her efficient use of class time. All students at UH Manoa pay tuition to take classes like THIS, and to gain a deeper understanding! good powerpoints we watched interesting video clips that related to the material. it was a good way to allow our brains to intake what we just learned The lectures were interesting and kept my attention unlike a lot of other classes I took this semester. The course gave extra credit opportunities which helped my grade a bit. i really liked her lectures as well as her videos i like the fact that she doesnt put the lectures notes on laulima because it gives you incentive to go to class and hear how she explains the notes. if you miss a class and dont get the notes you can always go to her office and she'll gladly lend you the notes. She gives great examples whether it be from her video clips or just explaining something in detail in class. na I liked the class assignments - especially the one with the video on Rafe Esquith. It was stimulating and exciting to learn about psychology this way. That she makes students actually study and come to class. None of this wishy washy student crap. She encourages ppl to try harder. Learning about the different types of parenting was my favorite part because I could use that information later in life. I like all the videos we got to see in class about certain studies psychologists were doing that pertained to the concepts we were learning in the lectures. videos of studies pertaining to current topics The interesting video clips i enjoyed the videos that she showed. It seemed that the only time that i actually remembered a concept in the course was when she showed a video that related to the topic. video and writing assignments Dr. Frazier was very insightful with her use of examples to support the subject matter and make it applicable for daily use Loved the videos of kids in experiments, etc. Especially liked the video on Rafe Esquith and the Hobart Elementary School! Everything! It was about children and learning how children learn to grow up to be functioning adults is interesting in itself. I like most of the it. However, the timing and lots of information are not really help me to get everything that I want from this class The videos as tools for better understanding topics. The content. It's absolutely fascinating. I liked the videos that she showed in class. They helped make concepts clear. They also helped break the class up so we weren't writing for 50 minutes straight! The videos and short clips she shows during class time because it helped meunderstand the subject that she was discussing. Everything! Videos I like how she uses videos and clips to explain more about what she talks about, it usually doesn't make class boring, but if she just talks all the time i tend to fall asleep. Video examples The child rearing lessons, better ways to raise children I enjoyed the style of teaching and the occasional clips that were inserted into the powerpoint presentation! I enjoy doing the writing assignments, because it enables me to apply what I have learned and to share a little about my thoughts to Professor Frazier. These assignments allow a break in the sometimes monotonous lectures and readings. her use of incorporating related videos into her lectures to keep things interesting Learning about the different parenting styles and different ways to bring up children were really interesting. I hope to use this knowledge and incorporate it not only in school, but to raising my own children one day. I liked learning about aggression and attachment the best. I liked the videos that corresponds with what is being taught. I especially enjoyed all the video clips shown in class. They helped tie in the material, and I was able to actually see what we were talking about. The assignments were also very interesting. And because the limit was one page, they weren't too difficult to complete. The lectures are great, and the exams are straight out of them. \ The assignments were interesting and I learned a lot during the lectures. I did like the detailed lecture slides and the videos she shows in class. It gives the class a better understanding of what she is explaining to us and gives us that extra learning experience. I mean, video vs. text. Sometimes things are better learned when seen through an actual situation (video) than just it being explained. videos in class For a lecture hall, the course was very well-structured and informative, even though it felt very challenging at times. Also, the assignments and extra credit definitely took some of the pressure off of the tests, which was enormously helpful. The cute and funny videos of little kids. -i really liked the video clips we watched in class, it helped demonstrate how the experiments worked and what the results might look like -the videos are also good for a quick break in taking notes and kind of breaks up the class time well -although taking all the notes is a pain...its gets students to come to class and I think did help me long-term in doing better on the exams -the availability of extra credit + the extra credit questions on the exams were great -I also like having the 4 exams over only a midterm and a final -Also, its nice to have the homework that way it helps out people that are not as good for test taking the audio/visual materials. availability of the instructor. It was just hard to pay attention to what Frazier was saying because I spent most of my time trying to copy all the notes down. No other comments. Thank you very much for teaching this course in this semester. I really enjoyed learning each chapter (esp. from ch4 to the last chapter). the assignments really got me to read the book more than i would have if there were no assignments, and overall i really enjoyed the class and found the class to be very challenging n/a n/a This is the second course I've taken with Brandy and I am completely satisfied with her course: the required text, style of teaching, grading procedures, assignments, exams, and her communication. She is a great teacher. Most importantly, she is fair! N/A i definitely think she's an excellent teacher na Perhaps a psychology project can be utilized in this class as well. I remember in human sexuality, we could choose from doing our own research project, making a children's book, or doing a campaign. I thought this was a great way to prepare those who wanted to go to grad school an opportunity to get some experience in the field. This dealt with lots of work, but I had a lot of fun doing it. Just a thought :) Unlike other classes I've had where the lecture slides are not posted, this course had the best pacing. I could write at a comfortable speed and manage to write down everything. She had too much information in her lectures that I had a hard time taking notes. i gave up after a while. take your time going through the slides and thoroughly talking about the topic at hand. i had a hard time in this course&will be lucky if i pass. other psych classes where the subjects were talk about thoroughly and slides were explained and i did a lot better in. other than that, keep up the good work. I like to the course very much. I enjoy all the class activities. Overall the class was ok, although I enjoyed 240 much more. The biggest suggestion I have would be to post the slides. If you don't want to post them right after lectures maybe post them a few days before the exam. This would be helpful to the students who were in class too because you go through things fast so we are not always able to get everything. No other comments. She teaches well. I enjoyed this course very much! Would not recommend this class or any from Brandy Frazier. She reads out of the book and her tests don't match up with the lecture. The study guide is overwhelming and almost impossible to know in the short 5 days you have to study and do all your other classes. I really disliked this course. I really believe that the exam should be made up of 50 questions worth 2 pts each rather than 30 questions worth 3 pts each. That way if a question is answered wrong, there is not alot of deduction of points from 1 question. I really enjoyed this course and am sad that it has come to an end so quickly! This class was difficult, even though i didn't do too well in this course, i'll try again next semester and perform much better.

She responded to questions through email and helped as soon as she could. She was an invaluable resource into helping me with this class. Frazier seemed eager to help students learn and offer assistance when needed. Her slides were very clear and effective. She was very helpful and approachable. She has a great amount of knowledge and is willing to help students. The teacher had powerpoints, which helped aid the class. The study guides were also really helpful for the tests. She knows the subject very well. The notes that were given in class helped a lot when it was time to study for our tests. She makes the class very straight-forward and has very concise lectures. She seemed actually interested and knowledgeable about the topics she spoke about. She was very helpful and enthusiastic when lecturing so it made class interesting and fun. She also offered extra help and made herself available for office hours whenever we need them. she made sure she had time to help us out and was willing to go over assignments and tests again even though she might have already graded it. she has powerpoint slides and that are helpful for the exams She had very good powerpoints and the study gudies were helpful also the videos in class. She is very cooperative and will do her best to help her students through any struggle they go through in class. She is easy to talk which is something that some instructors cannot do. Clear powerpoints and easy note-taking Video clips in the class Brandy spoke very clearly and was available to help students before and after class. The pace of the lectures were fast for those who needed to copy the lectures by pen and paper. For those who have laptops, it was easier to copy the lectures. She made sure that people with both tools got the notes copied. she is available for her students. and notes are clear and outline chapters well. she knew the material She repeated the reminders, sent out emails, posted things on Laulima quickly; very on top of things. She was very willing to help, her syllabus was clear and concise. Professor Frazier was very helpful and inspiring throughout the semester. Professor Frazier's powerpoints, lectures, and overall communication with the class was very concise, clear, and efficient. Frienly and helpful I found the teacher's feedback and praise very helpful. She recognizes students' efforts and hardwork either on assignments or even personal email after an exam. She's always offers help and encourages students to come in during office hours or to make an appt. She really wants her students to do well. And even provides study guides which are helpful. She explained really well. Her powerpoints were very thorough as well. She's easy to understand. Sometimes she incorporates her own opinions or stories into the lesson. I like that a lot, because it works as a valuable cue when recalling content we had learned last week or something. Available to help on assignments or help in general. Her lectures were very detailed and the video clips helped to illustrate concepts and theories. She is very knowledgeable of the material , provides videos to deepen our understanding, and is very clear in lecture that allows the students to take notes in a very organized fashion. Also she is very helpful and is available for further clarifications. she was really factual. i really liked the instructor's teaching style. her powerpoints simplified what may have otherwise been difficult to learn and she covered the important concepts that we needed to know. the lectures in class were direct and to the point and made for easy note taking. by using the book as a supplement, to me there was no possible way to do badly on a test. clear and straight forward. she was happy when teaching and made it easy to learn and understand the material, and was very available to help even outside of class. That she would really help her students and even go out of her way to make sure that she could meet up with them if they ever have questions or need help (especially when Gartley Hall went under construction). It also helped that she was very approachable and very kind so it was very easy to talk to her if I ever needed to. :D Her lecture material related to the book and it was easy to understand. Brandy is a great instructor and she makes it very easy to follow the material. She is very motivated to help her students and I honestly believe she is one of the better professors in the psychology department. I definitely look forward to taking her other courses in the future! she was nice and approachable and understanding Her kindness and enthusiasm was very helpful. She always made it clear that she was always open for questions and any help that you needed with class material. she was nice and always availabl to help students The instructor is very flexible with her office hours, and she's always willing to help out the students if we need help when it comes to the writing assignments. Professor Frazier wants the students to know the material well. She tried to make class fun and interesting by giving us examples of the content that we're learning. Her ability to meet with us outside of class. She took her time in class but addressed everything. Clear and organized lectures Extremely talented at expressing pscyhological concepts- maintained the class's attention from beginning to end. Interesting videos and power points. Very approachable and helpful to students. Lots of research She's really nice, easy to understand. I liked that she had videos for every concept that we learned in class. Powerpoints were clear and very easy to understand. Videos were good. She spoke effectively and she was very approachable. She did a great job with the course. She was very very organized and i enjoyed her videos. So enthusiastic, great examples to go along with the content. Videos were also a nice touch. She was approachable and very willing to help. That she was available outside of the classroom to help students who needed the extra help and always responded to emails quickly. The instructor was very well organized and was ready to lecture each time. I like how she was very clear about due dates and assignments. very knowledgeable about the subject She was available for help outside of class and gave insightful information about the material covered in class. she made sure that her students got material needed for the class -Study guides -PowerPoint Slides -Makes reminders ahead of time for papers that are due The instructor had a great optimistic attitude which made it easier to listen to lectures. She also emailed me a congratulatory email when I did well on an exam which in turn made me want to continue do well. she knows her stuff. i enjoy the section right how about adolesence She provided examples to further explain certain concepts, was open to questions, and offered office hours....always conveyed that she was willing to help any student with more questions or concerns about the class. She really seemed to enjoy teaching. She was always very clear when she explained certain concepts to us and she used good video clips to further demonstrate what we were learning. Her powerpoint slides were clear and easy to follow as was her lectures. Easy to pay attention in class. I like the simple yet beneficial assignments throughout the year also. Her ability to help and understand students both in and out of class, whether it was about the class material or other things outside of class. The examples the professor provided during the lectures, it directly tied in what we had to know and it helped me to remember better during the exams she was able to effictivly communicate with her students and was able to clarify any questions we may had The instructor was always readily available for meeting with students. If a student was unable to make her office hours, she was very flexible with making appointments. I also liked that the professor showed a lot of videos during her lectures. They really supplemented the material well, and made it easier to understand. Always willing to have office hours with you whenever you need to meet. She kept the class interesting and showed videos in class that helped the students understand the concepts.

11. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.

Speak slower so people who write the notes instead of type it can catch up It would have helped me with some of the papers involved in the course if the slides were posted on Laulima. However, I realize that there was good reason for not doing so. Although the powerpoints had a great amount of knowledge and worked well as study guides, she does seem to go through them quickly in class. It might be helpful to students to slow down a little. It is great how they are available after class hours though. The instructor said the word "um" a lot. Just today I counted her saying "um" over 160 times in 20 minutes. It was really distracting. The powerpoints have way too many words. N/A. I think there should be fewer written assignments. Possibly post the lectures online, although this might discourage a lot of students from coming to class, some people (like myself) do get sick often and feel a bit ashamed coming into the office so much to get missed notes. It's much easier to just look it up online. None. way too much note taking Little slower with the material I say that the course and the instructor did a good job this semester. no mass lecture I understand that by not putting the lectures online, it gives a reason for students to show up. But the constant spamming of email is irritating. I have missed a lot of classes and did fine without your lectures and have not asked anyone for notes via email. Either you should encourage students to stop spamming fellow classmates or put the notes online. study guides to be given a little bit earlier in advance than just that week. nothing maybe having quizes would help for the exams There is too much material covered in the course. N/a Sometimes, she speaks a little too fast. It seems that she tries to cover too much material for one class. I understand this is a huge class and so it is difficult to work in groups to foster discussion and cooperative learning. So the teacher's style and methods are probably the most efficient method of getting the information to the class. Nothing really. Seems like some parts are being read from the book. Also, less papers towards the end of the semsester, please! Other classes give enough papers to write. It might be helpful to post lectures online. I know that not posting them gives incentive to students to come to class, but when studying for the exam, sometimes I think it would be good to see the powerpoints. there were way too many notes. maybe try to condense the subject matter that's covered. n/a nothing in particular. Maybe spice things up a bit by showing video clips (since we watched a great number of video clips during class) from modern material that students would be able to relate to more? Other then that, this was a very excellent course. D Slow down on the slides a bit. people that do not bring laptops cannot keep up. or post the slides online after class? None. more interactive and class involvement The only thing was that sometimes she talked a little fast and i wouldn't quite be able to write fast enough. But I was just to shy to raise my hand and tell her to slow down. the lectures tended to be pretty much word-for word from the text book so i did not feel the need to go to class when i could just read it, maybe either lecture more in debth than what the book offers, or do not require the book for the class so we dont waste our money Notes are very well put together, but the content is a bit much when it comes to writing the notes. If there is a way to possibly simply the content of the information. I think it should either be curved, or the tests should be re-written (not necessarily made more easy, just re-written in a different way). I use my computer to create note cards on my system- it is the most effective way that I study. I wish that the instructor would have post the power point slides on laulima for this reason- for visually oriented learners, being able to read the powerpoints again/or input them into a system is the best way to learn the material. posting the notes online. emphasizing points so we know what you think is important to know rather than just facts. be open minded. only 1/3 of the class comes to class so maybe most interesting. More humor? Life experience that can relate? I would say more humor is the main thing that she can do that students would enjoy more. None. I liked the class the way it was. I'm not knocking the tests, but I think she could rationalize making them a bit more difficult. It would have helped to be able to have the power points available through email because i never had time to meet during her office hours or other times. The class was all about taking notes page after page. Sometimes the pace was a little too fast for others to keep up with writing the notes. The study guides were very vague and were of very little help. The course had too much information I think you should have exams after each chapter, instead of having four exams that cover a range of chapters. I also think you should give us the essay questions ahead of time for the exams so we can be more well prepared with that part of the test. pretty boring, try to weed out what's important vs what is not. i felt like the whole class was spent trying to keep up with the slides... N/A. maybe more interactive? i just wished she put her powerpoint lectures available online. Not applicable I felt like the textbook and the notes in the class were very much the same. I rarely opened the textbook. Perhaps it would be helpful to put the slides online before each exam so the students can study them. Try and consider posting lectures online so that students can get a better chance of keeping up with the course. I liked the way the class is structured, there really isn't anything I would personally like to change. Except maybe have fill-in-the-blank worksheets on the web so during the lecture I may follow along instead of rushing to copy the ppt and not really play much attention to what the professor is saying. I think that the class is already great.

16. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

The videos that related to each topic helped me understand it better and it stuck into my memory for the exams. The videos were interesting as well. The slides were clear and well-explained, and relevant to the book. This continuity helped me learn. The content of the course was very interesting and insightful. The teacher was also very knowledgeable and can connect well with students. The way my teacher taught the course was very effective. I liked learning about the different stages of childhood and learning about what actions will be beneficial for raising a child. I think this class is very informative and it will be very helpful in the future The material covered. The videos were extremely helpful in helping us understand the material that was being taught in the lecture. i liked the writing assignments and extra credit oportunities. they were pretty fun to do and very interesting. the videos The fact you learn about how kids grow! Everything. I know it may seem too optimistic to say so, but it is true. This course was overall a learning and productive experience. The instructor and TA did a good job making sure that we, the students, understand the material. brain development I liked the writing assignments because I actually had fun doing them. The papers had a variety of topics to choose from (sometimes), and I felt engaged in doing my work. the videos and real life applications such as assignments that made us think about our own life experiences. teacher's personality the videos how clear the material was the power points were straight forward Topics covered could be applied to everyday interactions with those around you. Also course material was taught in a way that was easy to understand and learn. I enjoyed learning about development after conception. Video examples of the concepts and experiments of the field of developmental psychology I really liked the different ways of presenting the material- powerpoint presentations, videos, lecture, textbook, and assignments. I liked her videos. They help to demonstrate what she was saying. I also like that she had study guides that were often helpful. Lastly, her assignments were very fun and helpful to do. I liked that she didn't post her powerpoints on laulima. It made us come to class everyday and write everything down. Easy to take notes to study for exam later on. The material was very interesting, and I could actually apply what I learned to daily life. I really enjoyed the videos that were shown because it gave a better understanding of the topics we were going over. Also, I liked that she had assignments throughout the course. It allowed me to use the information I was learning in lecture to these various assignments. the course content in and of itself was interesting, which made it easy to learn. i actually ended up really enjoying doing the writing assignments for the class. they involved critical thinking, application and in many ways could be practical in everyday life. very accommodating to the needs of the students. the videos she played in class that were examples of what we were learning about I really enjoyed the video clips that we would watch during class :D Not only were they pretty entertaining and fun to watch, it also helped me get a deeper understanding on a lot of the concept we were learning. Very good indeed! :D You rock Brandy! :D I liked the clips that we watched that related to the lecture material. The audiovisual clips helped ALOT. Especially when it came to exams because I could think of the kids/psychologists and write what I remember seeing. The material was very interesting because this is the first time I'm learning about children's development. I do think Brandy helped a lot in making the information interesting to learn! the video clips I enjoyed the video clips she showed along with the lecture and how she would give very good examples about interesting studies. I would go home and tell my roommate what I had learned that day. it gave a good overview of what developmental psychology is about The videos were the fun part of the class. We were able to see different scenarios and examples of the topics that we learned about in class. It made learning and understanding easier. The writing assignments were also very helpful because they allowed us to reflect on our personal development experiences that helped us understand the content better. The study guide was a great help as well. I enjoyed the video clips and I liked the assignments given in this class because it made me think of how psychology can be applied to my everyday life. The video clips, it really helped to reiterate what the topic was about but in a manner that was easier to understand and remember. I liked learning about infant and early childhood development. Note taking is the best way for me to learn. It was very interesting and I enjoyed coming to class each day.

12. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?

She was easy to talk to and was available to help me outside of class. She chooses interesting sources for the course. She talks clearly and shows concerns for students. She provides a relaxed atmosphere. Dr. Frazier is the most thorough instructor I've had in regards to giving feedback on my writing. Her feedback effectively helped me improve my writing skills. She gave lots of feedback on our writing assignments. I found Professor Frazier to be both intellectually informative and personably available which made the class environment a safe place to open up about personal experiences that related to the subject material. The instructor is very friendly, willing to help, gives constructive feedback, and always available for outside of class assistance. Professor Frazier was very helpful to the students in the class. She was willing to meet with students during office hours and answered emailed questions promptly. She also had a lot of knowledge about the topics we were talking about and I liked learning about her own research. each lecture has discussion sections, she lets us think about some problems/ questions, then express our own ideas. and encourage students to participate in class activities She made the classroom setting comfortable by being open to any questions you may have, and made you feel "safe" when you gave answers, even if you felt you weren't the most articulate. I liked the different subjects that were covered as well as the open interaction concept. I felt I learned more when we would start discussing openly rather than in the beginning when we went around and read our discussion questions she was very willing to give advice on your writing and very easy to talk to and arrange meetings with Very open to discussion and a wide variety of opinions. Made class discussion very comfortable. She genuinely wanted the students to learn and enjoy learning. She was always available to help with projects and assignments and encouraged students to come to her with any questions or concerns. She gave positive feedback and communicated in a way that one felt comfortable in and out of class. She is very understanding and helpful when it comes to class assignments and papers. She is willing to help us with our writing homework and try to be flexible sometimes. That she was available whenever I had a concern about an assignment. She was also able to help me with certain things that I needed help with.

13. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.

please post up the readings more than one week ahead so some of us can have a headstart in reading the articles and help us have a better idea when doing our paper presentation. In my view the class is just well as it is. I didn't really like the weekly reading questions because it was difficult to always ask questions that tie in all the readings. Unfortunately I can't really think of anything off the top of my head. any issues I had in the class were a result ofmy own life complications which professor Frazier was very understanding about. play some music or songs related to the topics, Overall, I thought the instructor's teaching style and methods were excellent. I felt the presentations by the students were not really necessary though. Having video clips supplement the class discussions or lectures would have been sufficient and more impactful to me. I would suggest splitting up writing discussion questions with some other activity. Although this is a good practice, and it did get easier over the course of the semester, I got very tired of doing this. Some other activity or something to do with the readings to split up the repitition may help. While making the Summary Papers and Questions formal beneficial to practicing for the final paper and reflection papers, it seemed too much work. While most writing intensive classes are required a total of 16 pages of writing, I feel like I did way too much work. Maybe focus less on class discussion questions, and more on summaries. It was sometimes a little difficult to come up with questions if I did not have any. Other than that the class was run very well and was very interesting. Maybe too much writing and more group interaction when doing the writing assignments. Everything went well. However I think for discussion questions I think just making one question would suffice.

17. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

The topics that were discussed in class were very interesting We were challenged to think and understand the course material by asking questions and answering those. there was no big pressure in terms of time management even though we had a lot to read and write. She would always listen to your comments and respect them. The class discussions were interesting because I got to hear everyone else's ideas on the subject and readings. the individual presentations especially the research necessary to present my own. This course really helped me develop an understanding and appreciation for research articles and the topics discussed in the course were very applicable to real life situations. most I thought the videos were interesting and some of the class discussion. i thought the summary papers were challenging at first, but once I got the hang of it I feel like my writing became much more refined and much better I enjoyed group discussions and videos, and class activities the most Class discussions. Discussion about the articles that we read. I like the topics that we learned about because it relates to the career that I want to get into.
