18. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?

Dr. Dibble helped me understand graphs and writing research papers which has been very valuable to me The fact that he made a challenging subject matter a little less scary and i was able to understand the various definitions he presented to the class. His willingness to help I find that his enthusiasm for teaching and making sure we understand everything is very helpful. He was very approachable and extremely enthusiastic about the class which helped me feel more optimistic about a class I wasn't looking forward to taking.

19. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?

At times he spoke to fast. i wanted to take notes in the way he wants where you take them as he goes but i felt at times unless i took notes down as i saw them i was struggling to complete the notes and professor Jaysons notes at the same time. nothing I don't like the way he stares at us when he teaches. It would be better if he just looked at us extemporaneously. N/A

20. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....

I am very appreciative of his teaching of the course. He has really gone through the course material and made it understandable for the class. I am now more confident about research. the class was enjoyable. He made the class enjoyable and if i had to take research methods again i would take it again with Professor Dibble Excellent He's a very helpful and intelligent professor. That he was a great, fun, enthusiastic professor

21. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

I really liked that the class was very laid back and informal because it made it easier to ask questions Working within a team on our first research paper was very helpful. understanding the types of research and the processes that go on I liked the detailed notes and the organized format of the class. The individual research project.

22. Which aspects of the course did you like least?

It felt rushed but thats also because it was during the summer Creating your own research paper was still a challenge for me personally due to the fast pace of the summer i feel with more time i would have been able to produce a better final paper. none The content of the course was overwhelming when studying for the exams. The short papers but I understand that it was to fulfill the WI.

23. What changes would you make in the writing assignments?

I felt the writing assignments were fairly helpful i would keep them the same. none I would have liked to receive the assignments earlier in advance. I felt that there were too many assignments due during the last week. Nothing

18. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?

Jayson Dibble is approachable and easygoing when it comes to asking questions about lectures and projects. He doesn't make you feel like you are burdening him and is very helpful. His personal stories and his powerpoints. The slides are always well done and with funny pictures. I can appreciate a good lecture. His liveliness of keeping me engaged with the lectures/powerpoints The energy and knowledge Jason injected into each class was definitely what was most valuable about him. His energy allowed us, as students, to understand the abundance of information in the most effective and enjoyable way! Jayson's knowledge of the course material and also him being one of the very few professors in the Speech Departmnent that isnt Korean. Good professor, funny, smart, easy to talk to. Good PowerPoints with the main points and elaboration, over the over wordy powerpoints many professors rely on. Professor Dibble is willing to help his students when they need it. He tries to make the course engage for his students, which I find helpful. He also raises a lot important topics and leaves it to us to think about it. The fact he's so enthusiastic about what he teaches. Makes you truly want to learn. The examples provided for each concept are interesting and definitely helpful in fully understanding them. Also, by using videos to show how people handle a certain situation through a popular sitcom/show definitely can help people connect the concept to the visual aid. The most valuable thing about the professor is by far his pure devotion to the topic. I appreciate that he uses examples from personal experiences to support statistics.

19. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?

requiring mandatory office meetings to stop by and see how I'm doing - but then again that's my prerogative n/a None. Nothing about him personally, he did a great job. Nothing that I can think of at the moment. Some of the material can be slightly complicated. But he does a good job teaching it. Nothing really. It would be nice to have more in-class interaction at least during the summer sessions. Not really a flaw, but there was relatively little in-class communication sessions for a speech class.

20. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....

He is a great teacher. He is enthusiastic about the material and seems very genuine in his teachings. Great Professor! Definitely loves what he's doing and you can really tell. in media res - "in the middle of things" Jayson Dibble is an outstanding professor. He is thorough in all explanations and always finds fun creative ways to explain different theories and concepts. One of the few professors in the Speech Department that isnt a Korean. Which is great. Excellent, I'd take/plan to take another course from him. good overall. He tries to be open minded about the topics brought up in class which is always a plus. He is also friendly and approachable. Awesome teacher. Which all my teachers were as in to teaching as he is. He is very intellectual, friendly, and well-spoken. He knows his topics very well, and the data he provides are informative and sometimes surprising. Professor Dibble is an outstanding teacher. His personal examples create a fun, lively experience. The use of studies and statistics show students information from a scientific perspective. The incorporation of videos also make the class better. Overall, 10 out of 10. One of the best professors I've had.

21. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

I like how Jayson Dibble uses real examples both from popular culture and his personal experiences. He makes the class both interesting and educational at the same time. The oral history assignment. That assignment really does you well. You get to know your family member on a whole different level. Such a great assignment. my classmates and discussions I enjoyed learning about the various types of family structures and ways to communicate within them. I also appreciated the stress on the concept that there is no such thing as a normal family :) The learning atmosphere during class time. Discussion, real life examples, videos, not overly textbook dependent. I liked the fact that he showed us thought provoking videos that really challenged us to think about the topics. The fact he didn't take attendance yet everyone still wants to come to class. I like the aspect of classmates being able to share personal experiences that may relate to other people as well.

22. Which aspects of the course did you like least?

The project for the class is a video project and I wish I took this class during a regular semester when he assigns this project by groups vs individually as I am not as familiar with the equipment and materials required for producing a video. The three exams vs two exams The time period. Time just flies when you're having fun! The video project. Video project is scary individually if you have no movie-making experience. I didn't really care for the video project because I thought it was difficult for one person to do the project all by themselves, especially if they were coming from another state who does not have a lot of resources. Also I think that the requirement for the project to be a video is a little too much to ask for if there are students that don't have access to a digital camera or if their computer is too slow to handle the video editing program. I think trying to use a new type of media for students to work on their project is a good opportunity to show their creativity, but I can't agree that it should be limited to a video format. The Cl's and O's and whatnot. The least thing I like from the course is the textbook reading. Although it can be very informative, the writing style does not provide a fulfillment to enjoy learning about the concepts. Some lectures relied heavily on the powerpoint presentations.

18. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?

His enthusiastic attitude about passing on his knowledge to the students. He is always friendly and is very understanding. He always challenges and encourages his students to express themselves. He is enthusiastic about his field, which helps make the lectures interesting. His use of real life examples brings relevance to the course and makes the terms easier to understand and remember. 1. Jayson is very enthusiastic about the subject and works to create a fun, exciting atmosphere in which the subject and its applications are both of interest to the students. 2. He is clearly well versed in both the background and the content of the subject matter and is able to relate to the students using interesting, humorous, or otherwise relevant examples. He makes the learning process interesting. His enthusiasm makes you want to come to class. He was very enthusiastic, makes you want to come to class even if he doesn't take attendance. He used anecdotes from his life to exemplify the course material. Covered the course material at a good rate, he makes sure the class understands the material. When a student answers a question and it's an unclear response he makes them say it again more concisely. Doesn't give busy work. Gives extra credit opportunities that are interesting and relevant to the class. Very interesting and entertaining while he teaches. I don't remember falling asleep... which is really good! He was always available to help you. He really want he students to succeed in his class and learn all the material. he considers his students He is very enthusastic and was very involved. You could tell that he liked teaching and what he was teaching. Lectures kept us active and involved. Clear communication of material an examples What I found most valuable about Jayson Dibble was his ability to relate his teachings to his audience in a way that showed his love and passion for his job and his students. Plus, he is hilarious yet real. His desire to spread his knowledge about persuasion. His teaching method was very effective and it really helped me learn the material He was very approachable and friendly knowledge Jayson is really passionate about what he teaches, so as a student his attitude makes me feel motivated to be interested in whatever subject he is teaching. He provides examples that is relatable to the material, which makes it easier to understand concepts. Jayson also encourages his students to visit him during his office hours or to schedule an appointment with him, so he's very approachable whenever you need to ask questions or assistance. Dynamic professor! He was really about to teach the material so effortlessly. knowledge of the subject He's approachable He explained the concepts and theories in an easy to understand type of way and used real-life examples to drive the points home. Assignments were clearly stated and there were no confusions as to what was expected of us. Knows the information well and teaches students so they actually understand the concepts

19. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?

I'm not a big fan of the 3 minute video we have to make for the class. I've never had to create a video like this before, and I don't even own a camera. Also, I think the mall persuasion assignment should be for extra credit or maybe have another option for people to do. Talking to these people in the mall is not exactly something I want to do in my free time. 1. Jayson has some difficulty with the managing the time constraints in the classes which certain important points that are discussed. In several cases, some material is either covered later (requiring a lengthier review in the following class, taking again more time) or simply not covered in class (where students are simply referred to the book). 2. Jayson has sometimes paid little or no attention to possible objections to the conclusions reached by research that is presented in class to make a point. Specifically, methodological errors that were likely raised by opponents or skeptics, contesting the results of various studies or the conclusions of those proposing various theories. While it is likely that the authors of the studies/theories either did control for the obvious flaws or simply did not make the claims as forcefully as they were presented in class, glossing over them is essentially a disservice to the students who are, after all, being urged to think critically. Sometimes it's hard to process all the information going on. Things move quickly in this class. He didn't push office hours enough. Sometimes he lingered too long on an example. - talks fast and talks a lot none Poor commication during office hours, did not respond well to questions, not clear about assignments. Grading unclear no rubric for grading. Seems to favortisim athletes, seem to be judgmental about topics such as restless leg syndrome. I donʻt need to put any negativity in his creativity. Nothing Sometimes some of the examples linked to the material was dragged on. It felt like sometimes he would try to embarrass his students when speaking out in class. He would ask a question to the class and wait for someone to answer it. Many times after a student would respond Dibble would say the student's answer wasn't correct, then give the correct answer. This would be fine except that most of the time the student's and Dibble's answers were very similar. If this is the case I think it would better serve Dibble to acknowledge the student's response and then add to it, instead of essentially telling the student they're wrong. sometimes a bit rude I think interactive activities in class would be helpful with learning the material. He is a great instructor! would definitely take any course if he was the instructor. He is a good teacher that attempts to take an active interest in his students. Jayson is an excellent educator with mastery of the content knowledge (background and current), classroom dynamics, and course objectives. I would highly recommend his classes, in any subject, to other students. Great teacher who loves to teach. Be prepared to learn. Great teacher, enthusiastic and fun, personable, knowledgable. Really excellent! Great teacher. He tries his best to make sure we learn, and teaches with great passion enthusiasm. 21. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

The use of visual aids and examples that he provides during his lectures. The video, Freakonomics, was interesting and informative. The guest speaker was also interesting. It was good to see an example of a person who uses persuasion in their profession everyday. As a prospective teacher, my interest is more on the way the instructor and the students interact, and how the material is approached and presentend, than in the actual subject matter of the class. As I have already taken this course, I was able to attend most closely to these things and found it both educational and personally enriching. The subject material came off a lot more interesting than I thought. most days were based on lectures, but lectures were pretty interesting. videos! there are lots of theories and strategies that we can use and find in our real life. it was very interesting!! The in the field project where we had to use our persuasion skills in real life with the kiosk people at the mall. Class examples I like the aspect of bouncing stuff off of each other in class. Jayson is interested in what his students have to say and this aspect created genuine experience. I like the fact that we have a semester video project. I that it's individual because it makes it a product purely from the student. It stirs creativity and gave me more of a sense of what I want to do with my life. Linking material to real life situations I liked when we had a lawyer come in as a guest speaker. Also Dibble's examples helped learn the material well. I like the fact that the video project was individual this time around. I think sometimes it can be challenging working in groups. Love the film review and the guest speaker. learning the techniques I did enjoy being able to be creative and create a persuasive video project for class. 22. Which aspects of the course did you like least?

The video project, and the mall persuasion assignment. There should be substitute assignments for these, or just get rid of them altogether. The course included almost no interaction between students. While I am not an advocate of group projects in every class, even just small, in-class collaborations can be useful. For example, instead of having the instructor review just the previous class at the start of each lesson, small groups could act out or illustrate a concept from one of the previous classes, given out by the instructor. For example, "You two, pre-giving. You five, pluralistic ignorance." and so on. Not every such review would need to use all the students in the class. I worked with another student on several parts of the work and found it the best part of the class. It was still hard to process everything going on. creating the end of sem video, I thought we'd be doing more persuasive speeches in this class not as much theory. The fact that there are no powerpoint slides posted on Laulima. I guess it helps students to attend the classes in order to keep up but I felt it was a little too strict. If you missed the class or was even late, you wouldn't have any idea what happened unless you ask your classmates. The video project because I am not good with electronics The literature research paper, it was not clear no specific rubric for grading as well as the video I wish that exams did not dictate how well you absorbed the material because for me this is untrue. I dislike the fact that the class material itself doesn't really get you to do critical thinking. Theories and such are explained to us, but we don't really get to apply it or think about HOW we would do something if we were put in a certain situation. n/a I didn't like the fact that we only had one midterm. Tests are not my strongest point and I wish that the tests didn't way too much of our grade or there were multiple tests throughout the semester, rather than just having one midterm and a final exam. This way we would be tested on less material at a time and we can focus on understanding the concepts in depth. 23. What changes would you make in the writing assignments?

I would get rid of the mall persuasion assignment. As far as the other assignments, they were fine. The writing assignments were neither onerous or trivial. However, based on the reactions of the students and the information provided in class, it is clear that the expectations in regards to several of the writing assignments were not clear to the class as a whole. While they may have been complete from the perspective of the instructor, there was a definite flaw in its interpretation which, considering its pervasiveness, cannot be laid soley at the feet of the students. I strongly recommend the inclusion of samples of similar work for the students to review beforehand - not excellent, perfect samples, but one with some good and some bad, perhaps marked by the instructor, to give the students a clearer idea of what they should be striving for, and what to avoid. The writing assignments were fine to me. both writing assignments were interesting and relevant. I especially like the persuasion in retail. The assignment is well thought out and fun to do, field research Nothing :) none, I liked that the final paper was split into sections so it wasn't as overwhelming. More rubrics and clearer understanding of what is expected as well as a grading scale Kill APA. I thought the writing assignments were all fairly easy and straight forward. I wouldn't really change it up much. n/a I would have the teacher take a few minutes in class to discuss all assignments. I don't believe that was done for the Mall assignment. I found the writing assignments to be challenging because it was literature-reviewed, research and concept based, but it allowed me to think in a more critical way. Maybe instead of just sharing examples, there could be actual examples to show. I think the assignments are clear-cut and the instructional directions given with each assignment is really helpful. I was a little confused with the journal article literature review and how it needed to be constructed, so maybe some clarification could be added to the directions. Assignment asked for too much. only one reaction paper and a group project rather than individual Thought the writing assignments were very fair and clearly instructed. Everything we needed to know about the assignments were on the assignment sheets. There was not much left for questioning and if there were questions the professor was more than willing to help clarify. None

He really cares about his students and enjoys what he is teaching He is really enthusiastic! Keep it up! It is NEVER boring in that class so that is a positive aspect about him. His examples, use of videos and class activities. His attitude he always has his door open for helping you individually and is very approachable. interesting lectures that are actually fun to talk about it. he is always positive about teaching and makes the class room a fun and interesting place to be. He was there for me whenever I needed help. He made sure we knew what material was important. He had interesting findings that helped support his lecture notes. He also made sure we knew what to expect in his class. His lectures are always lively and informational. He doesn't read directly off from slides which helps students to stay attentive and active. ALways gets students involved. Projects were fun and helpful and went along with course material. Jayson Dibble is a motivating and genuine teacher. His teaching style in interactive which is fun. I can honestly say that I looked forward to going to class every week. He gets us to think about things in different ways. he is very approachable and helpful. his points are clear and concise. he is very enthusiastic about what he teaches and is well prepared. The way he teaches by breaking things down and when he comes in everyday with a positive attitude. His powerpoint presentations are very clear and makes the material easy to understand The most valuable part of taking a class with professor dibble is that he really wants his students to learn. HE is always willing to help and discuss questions. He was able to relate the course material to current times and lives of college students. Very easy to understand and very approachable. what was most valuable about Jayson? i would say how he gives examples and also he is a class motivated type of teacher and that's what most teachers lack JD is a one of a kind teacher and i would like for him to be my teacher again. He has a natural zest for teaching, and it is readily apparent in his willingness to help students understand the material. He often illicits questions from the class, which I feel greatly helps the class's understanding of the course material as a whole. Jayson Dibble was the best college professor that I have ever had. His teaching style I feel is one that should be used by all teachers. His articulation, examples, humor and stories to accompany and illustrate concepts made learning fun. For the first time in college, i actually wanted to attend class. I did very well in my exams because it was easy to recall concepts because they were tied to great examples. Aside from his teaching method, the semester very organized and on time. Study guides were on time as well, and tests challenged our knowledge about topics covered. He encourages involvement in his classes and gives us time to share our opinions. It was also great to see him during his office hours. I like that right from the get-go he encouraged students to see him even if it was to just chat or hang out. he seems available to opinions I highly appreciate his enthusiasm and sense of humor while teaching. He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches and is very good at teaching effectively. He was very enthusiastic about the material which helped make the class more interesting. Jayson also encouraged discussion in the class which allowed students to engage while leaning. I feel that Dibble had great rapport with his students, I never felt uncomfortable to ask questions. It is obvious that Dibble is well educated in his field of study. Class participation, lecture slides, examples, video clips were all very helpful. He's a very good professor and seems to enjoy what he does. Jayson was a great instructor. He made the content fun to learn and easy to understand through great visuals and more modern examples. He appeared to enjoy teaching and was always very enthusiastic. He was fair towards all students and encouraged us to all do well and gave us positive feedback. Very friendly and fun attitude made coming to class enjoyable. He is also very open to answering questions. he was open to all of the students and was really personable. Very friendly, good lessons, easy to understand and very enthusiastic about course materials. Jayson's teaching style is extremely effective because he is clear and uses relevant examples to explain the information in class. He seems to understand his material and his students. he is friendly to everyone so it was easier to talk to him and he made sure we understood. I feel very fortunate to have such a passionate and engaging teacher. Learning (especially during the lunch hour) can sometimes be very difficult, but because class is always interesting and tied into the real world it passes by so quickly and you think - really? Is that it? Time flies by when you are having fun (and learning, of course!)! The material and subjects we cover are real issues and is relevant to our lives. The professor challenges us to think, to feel, and perhaps may even get some folks to act. :) He's changing the world for the better - one classroom at a time. Most valuable was his energy and commitment to the class and teaching. he is really friendly and approachable I really enjoyed how animated he was in class! He made the material much easier to learn by keeping class fun and interesting! I also really enjoyed participating in the class discussions, because I learn best when I am able to talk about the topic at hand while we are learning about it. He is a good teacher that is passionate about the subject. It was easy to put input into class discussions because he always listened and valued everyone's opinion.

19. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?

I really dont have a negative thing to say Everything seems great1 He did a lot of lecturing, and although his lectures were informative, I really enjoyed his class activities. Sometimes he ignores certain students when have class discussions and jokes a little too much the tests because they were pretty hard, and i feel like my test scores dont reflect how much i actually learned in the subject. i cant think of anything negative He was great. None Itʻs all good. No judgments. A little redundant with his stories. he could use more in-class activities. too much lecturing can become repetitive That his powerpoints were not avaliable online at all, just in class. I found exam review days least valuable, because at first it was not made clear that he would only be answering questions. However, knowing this from the start would fix this. Time always run out quickly. nothing at all showed up to class never councled. gave us good feed back on every question. Although his examples illustrating various concepts in the curriculum are very helpful in remembering the key ideas, in some cases I feel that they are dragged out slightly too long. This is only a very minor gripe; more often than not the class moves at the perfect pace. I don't find anything least helpful about Jayson Dibble at all. He does an awesome job teaching. He's friendly and has such a gift in maintaining a balance between being your teacher and being a buddy. he can be judgmental He is a bit intimidating to approach. Sometimes I wished there were more time to finish dissuasions that started getting intense or interesting, but that isn't really something that Jayson could have adjusted (the semester is only so long). Doesn't remind us when stuff is due =( N/A I think that because the professor is so chill, he sometimes let's students who have the chill (but disrespectful) attitude go. What I mean by this - there are often times that people will be conversing in class during lectures. This can be very distracting. In the future, I think an effort to make students know that talking is cool - but only at the appropriate time such as when the floor is open for discussions. Otherwise, students shouldn't bother coming to class because they are disruptions to the many others who are there to learn. nothing Nothing

He's an alright teacher great teach and lecture, loved going to class even though it wasn;t attendance based. but, he made tests too hard great teacher. made the class interesting and gave us every opportunity to get a good grade in the class. he's a great professor. One of my best professors that I have ever met. Great! He is a great teacher and it shows that he loves what he is doing. Makes me want to come to class and pay attention. He is very encouraging of students to come in during office hours if they need help, and also doesnt mind spending extra time on a topic if the class doesnt seem to grasp it right away. His teaching style is humorous yet effective; I often find myself recalling his jokes when I read the questions on his tests. He is a great teacher. He also makes students feel comfortable about contributing to controversial issues. With Jayson it's comfortable to contribute because he encourages student participation by asking for input and opinions form both perspectives. He also makes it clear that he is not there to tell them that what they believe is right or wrong. he is enthusiastic about his material awesome! He provided us with a plethora of information in an interesting manner. I really enjoyed his classes and the assignments he gave us. I really enjoyed having Dibble as my Professor. I was trying to get into his other class (Persuasion) but he was not teaching it on MWF. I do hope I can get into another class that he teaches because my first experience/impression with Dibble in my Sp. 380 was memorable. He's a really nice guy and i enjoy his lectures. He is excellent in what he does, especially in his field. Not only was a he a great professor, but I can tell that he is just a nice guy. He is a great example of a professor that makes going to school enjoyable. I didn't want to miss any of his lectures and I paid complete attention at all times. 21. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

no homework, he teaches everything in class and you just look over your notes to remember the information I really enjoyed learning about how there is no "normal family". The video project, oral history assignment, and examples used in class. Video Clips the lectures i enjoyed the lecture on family tv shows and how they depict modern families today Everything dealing with his personal stories. The oral paper, interviewing a family member! IT was cool getting to know someone in my family from a different generation and hearing what they went through and getting to know them on a different level. The aspect of communicating our experiences honestly as a class was a strong method to under take for an entire semester. I learned a lot about different family styles and gained introspect my own. The video project. It allows for student creativity and working in a group. i like how he opens up questions to class discussion. he gets us involved and makes us think and speak out our opinions when we work in groups and watching videos. The little exercises we would do. And how we applied course material to interesting examples. I loved learning about single parent families. I didn't really know the ins and outs of the families but now i have a great deal of understanding for the topic. i liked that there was no "busy work", this makes the assignments and tests that we have seem more important, interesting and thought provoking. Liked how he relates his materials to real life situations and his own personal experiences. The different ways information was presented. Ex. videos for explaining polygamy, reading articles for definition of family & female genitalia circumsicion. the 5 minute skit we did in class. I enjoyed the course material very much, because it is an area of study that is applicable to every single person: everyone, at some point, has a family. Yet despite the universal nature of this subject, it doesnt seem that many people have studied it academically. Taking this course has helped me adopt an analytical lens with which I can frame my daily family interactions. Another area that I enjoyed was learning about strategies for managing dialectical tensions. After learning about these strategies (especially neutralizing and reframing) I have taken a new outlook on problem solving in my day to day life. I liked the Oral History assignment. I created a deeper connection between my mom and I and allowed us to talk about things that we have never really talked about. I also really liked the videos that we watched during class. It illustrated whatever it was we were covering in our classes at the time. lecture was informative I liked hearing Jason tell stories about his family. I also appreciate getting candy on test days. I really did like the oral history assignment. It was a simple assignment yet very informative and useful. All the aspects were great. How he related the concepts to everyday life situations. The interaction he had with the students and the way that he taught through visuals and modern examples, video clips and articles. Very interesting lectures. Loved the personal stories he shared. Really helped me to remember the material. learned a ton about family communication. The multiple choice tests, good lessons I liked the fact that the information we learned is all applicable to real life situation. I enjoyed everything the course had to offer. Specifically, I thoroughly enjoyed the discussions added to the lectures about relevant issues. Any teacher that is able to get students to think about issues AND have them still talking about them outside the classroom when class is over is definitely doing something right! I liked that there was life examples to help us understand the material otherwise we wouldn't of gained so much the lectures and videos are always interesting, the projects are fun so it makes you want to work hard on them I really enjoyed the class discussions. The interview with the family member was the best part of the course.

22. Which aspects of the course did you like least?

the timing of the project is hectic with my schedule, but not his fault. None. The readings. Very uninteresting lectures the tests none Nothing. The video project. I don't know electronics very well so it made it more challenging. But it helped that it was in a group. Taking exams. I donʻt work like that. That we don't have more group work in class. It's a small class, so it would be nice to interact with classmates more. too much lecturing sometimes. could use more activities here and there. I liked everything about the class I didn't like that we were required to do studies for the department. I did not like that the power point presentations were not posted online, however I see the value in forcing students to take notes. It is personally something that I like to have to supplement what I write in class. n/a exams. While I do not have my complaints about the course, I did feel that there was an overemphasis on powerpoint lectures. There were only two or three class periods in which interactive activities were held, yet they were very enjoyable and were a nice change of pace. My only suggestion would be to incorporate more activities into the lecture format. Once again, this is only a minor concern, as Dibble consistently generates thought-provoking discussions and debates during every class period. Nothing. I loved class every time I went and everything I learned in it. the exams An aspect of the course that I liked least was that Jason tended to show favoritism to some students. I just wished we had more time in class to work with our groups. A lot of people have multiple speech classes and they mostly all have group projects. It's hard for people who work or have other things going on to meet with multiple different groups. So class time, even if it was just a little more, would have been helpful. I started to raise my hand to ask for your help in shutting him up,but his friend politely said, "yeah, no problem". Arrrrgh! I was like, WTF?!! And it's not just in your class. These assholes are in all of my classes and I've just about had it! I think you,the professors,should call on these jerks when they do this. This type of behavior is rude and disrespecting of the professor and other students. thanks JD. i don't feel so bad about my past now that i took your class. in all seriousness thanks. I also liked the pranks pulled in class. They were hilarious and GENIOUS. This survey also needs chili peppers!! none. Dibble really knows how to relate to his students, and is truly a great teacher. I've never had a teacher that had so much enthusiams as Dibble and one that really taught the material well. I wish more of the teachers at UH especially in the math and science (chem,bio)departments were like Dibble and have Dibble traits. Everyon should take speech 380, it's really good! He makes sure every class is interesting and funny with great examples, interactive powerpoints, and class activities. He also has a good sense of humor. He offers great examples and makes it worth coming to class even if he does not enforce attendance. I like the fact that there is no attendance policy which shows me that he understands that things do come up. He really makes sure each concept is explored fully. jayson was able to relate things to the class since he is relatively young. he is eager and enthusiastic and makes students want to learn. class is never boring because he makes it worth it to come to. He was personable and eager to get to know his students on a more personal level. He encouraged us to engage in class and never made anyone feel dumb no matter the question. i like all his examples he uses He is very easy to talk to and he made the atmosphere in the classroom really light and fun. Jayson was also very enthusiastic about the topic he taught which made it more interesting and enjoyable. able to help me outside of class He is very personable and interested in the questions we have to ask. Slides had just enough info, then went into material in depth and gave great, funny examples I could relate to. The examples that he gave were very useful, they helped in remembering the course material since they were both funny and interesting. that he is very friendly and when he has the time he is willing to help anyone who come for help. real world examples His charisma in teaching and desire for students to participate in class and apply what's being taught. It allows students to open up and question, allowing students to really understand the material, if they so choose to do so. I feel that no matter what you could go up to Jayson and he would be able to help you. He also has a good teaching style when it comes to relating the material. He is very personable and loves to help students out every chance he gets his powerpoints were very clear I felt he always had very appropriate and helpful examples that brought the concepts to life his friendliness and the way he made class content interesting I enjoyed following along to the slideshows that he presented. I found that his projects and research papers really helped out in real life situations.

19. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?

nothing Sometimes he disregards what students say if they don't fit with what he has in mind. n/a Perhaps he could be a little more strict on the class. Like not allow people to sit in the very back when there are tons of seats in the very front. I think it would help many lazy students learn better. nothing Nothing. tests were kinda hard He is redundant. I admit some topics were hard to learn. I wished he would have spent more time going over certain hard topics in class. That we have to go out to the shopping mall and see what the types of persuasive methods the merchants at the kiosks will apply on us. n/a one of my top professors I have ever taken! Nothing, he's a very good professor. N/A Sometimes I feel like he is young and has already developed opinions on most things, where I feel that he may want to experience more of life before he makes up his mind on everything. Although it doesn't effect his teaching. None At times he let the flow of conversation stray from the material at hand. I have no problem with student discussion, but there are times when I feel the we've stayed on topics for far too long. It can detract from the learning experience of other students who do not wish to linger on a topic. I sense that sometimes he wants to move on with the content as well, but lets the students talk in excess. N/A Nothing Na n/a I have taken a lot of dibble classes. Sometimes I get tired of hearing the same jokes over and over again. Talking about MSU. This is UH. The only problem I had was that he stayed on one side of the room too much during his lecture, I was always on the side he was rarely on. Nothing comes to mind. n/a nothing his non mandatory attendance I already had a class that touched on most of the topics so although it's normally a good thing, the redundancy put me to sleep sometimes nothing N/A N/A It was just difficult to get notes from class when I was away for road trips. But the thing that I respected was that he would treat all the students the same no matter what.

He is one of my favorite teachers because he's funny and doesn't put anyone to sleep. A great instructor who always gives us real life examples to apply the information to. He's a great professor. great great teacher, wish he would teach 370. great to learn from. That he really wants us to see us succeed. And goes out of his way to let us know we can count on him and other teachers to help us achieve our dreams during and after college. a good teacher and would recommend him to other students to take his class He is a great teacher who is really involved with his students and he really understands his material and uses examples that we can relate to. great professor Wonderful teacher and I would definitely recommend him and take him again myself. 21. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

Movie project, the class in general. lectures The activities. being able to do group projects and go out into the world and collect data I liked his humor, the examples. I enjoyed the textbooks. I liked the time of the class. i like all of it pretty much I like how he talked about the media and persuasion. The hidden messages within ads is a favorite of mine. no homework- other than two papers and video project, didn't have to do much for class except study, study, study I really enjoy the interactive lectures. I also like the mini-assignments he gives out for smaller experiments. I like the examples Jayson uses with the material he presents The powerpoints. I enjoyed learning material I could actually use in real-life scenarios. The course made me WANT to learn instead of memorize the material to pass a test. The whole course was thoroughly enjoyable, but I enjoyed the two-day graduate lecture the most. projects All of it. haha. The class is so practical to real life, it's difficult for me to choose what I like best. I like that we learn something new each day, and that you can use it once you leave the classroom. The real life examples The practicality of what we learned in relation to everyday life. I like that there isn't too much homework that we're overloaded with. Most of the course content was straight forward so it was a matter of understanding and memorizing. I enjoyed the content of the class very much. I enjoyed all the course content, I learnt a lot and was able to put it to personal use. I really enjoyed the group project. The real life applications of the teaching information. Ex. The persuasion video project, mall persuasion assignment, etc. working with others in the class and going out to do projects Really, I liked learning things that you wouldn't normally think of. Anything brand new, topic or thought process, is extremely valuable. the papers were fun all I liked learning about the different types of persuasion techniques such as foot in the door or pregiving. Video project-much more fun than doing a group paper. I really liked the social proofing. great slides that helps understanding I really enjoyed everything because all of what we learned in class is applicable to what we're all doing now. Throughout the entire semester I've found this class to be extremely interesting. Class discussions Doing an assignment where we have to go out to the malls and encounter a kiosk. His unique style of teaching and the different concepts of persuasion that most people dont even realize is an aspect of persuasion. learning the art of persuasion The humor in his slides the lectures were interesting with good examples and cool slide content I liked that the content was relevant to everyday situations and i could apply it almost anywhere. Going to class and listening to the lectures. Real life situations portrayed in class.

22. Which aspects of the course did you like least?

Research. It sucks having to do it for all my courses, it really adds up. group projects The lectures were a little long sometimes. n/a Perhaps it would be even more fun if the class were restricted only to people majoring in speech. Because sometimes the kids just seemed rude or not engaged, and it was a little discouraging to those of us who are really trying to learn. nothing really nothing. course was alright, nothing in particular that I disliked The video/paper final project. Some topics were difficult! But every class is like that. the group presentations. i found them to be hard and even though we got to pick our groups it sucked because i didnt know anyone in the class so i was still stuck with people who didnt pull their own weight. group presentations are ridiculous. Having to create a video. n/a Nothing really. None of it. Well... I suppose I don't like being graded, but then again, that's inevitable. Grades, supposedly, reflect how much of the material is understood, which is fine and dandy, but it's like "meh..." Who cares too much for grades if it can be avoided? I just love learning. How some things just dragged on, for instance when people wanted to each share a personal story.. Some of the content was pretty common sense. A lot of us have experienced these concepts before, we just need to put a scientific name on it. I wished for an extremely mind-blowing experience, but I guess that's for the upper level classes. I also wished the tests were split into three parts so we wouldn't have to memorize so much material for the mid-term and final. N/A Na i did not enjoy the video n/a Probably the part about Jones town. Not because it wasnt interesting. It was very interesting, it was just also a little disturbing. I could care less about Supersize me. I think there could be better movies out there. I didn't like not having more exercises in class. I think if we as students were involved in more in class activities, more students would be able to retain more information. Test-taking (hey, I'm being honest!) n/a nothing the time of class Having a required textbook when students ask questions it seemed to drag certain topics on for much too long and made the topic seem more boring I thought some parts of the content overlapped material that i learned in Nonverbal Communication so i didnt like that it was repetitive. I thought it was difficult that the research studies we had to participate in were mainly bunched up into the last couple of weeks of class. I also feel that the video project presentation can be a hit or miss with students. Some students have access to high tech devices (cameras, etc.) and editing programs and experience that will make their video stand out more than others just because of its aesthetics. I think the project should be worth less points and/or give the students the option of using a video; not make it mandatory. That I missed a lot of class due to road trips.

The classroom is way too cold. n/a Interesting topics, fun power points. Sad we missed the hand in different water temperatures demonstration. Perhaps you could do more hands on stuff like that! Get the class even more engaged! had difficulty with the tests, could make tests easier I love Jayson classes. I don't need to take this class as a requirement, I choose to take it for fun because Jayson is so awesome and I think the course is very interesting. Please keep Jayson at UH! He treats everyone equally and makes you excited to learn. Keeps students feeling comfortable with his humor and also his knowledge in the subject. He was very knowledgeable about family communications and helped students to express their own stories and experiences. The atmosphere he created was almost like a family discussion. He was very approachable and his lecture style was informative but more like a conversation, which I enjoyed. Really tried to get class involved and have everyone participate in discussion. Learning about different family dynamics other than the one I have. He gave a lot of great examples. his examples he uses he didn't just go off of the book or facts, he wanted the class to be involved, used lots of examples to relate concepts, and provoked discussions to make class more interesting and to make information more memorable and taught us to apply and not just memorize information He was very into what he was teaching and made it more interesting for me. Prof. Dibble promotes critical thinking and encourages input from the students. He presented the material in an extremely stimulating way. I enjoyed the class discussions and entertaining examples. I also liked the PowerPoint slides because they were concise and clear--I didn't feel rushed when taking notes. Jayson Dibble was genuinely interested in the students understanding and progress in the class. Seemed to actually want to be there and was passionate about it. Class was fun and FAR from a bore. His enthusiasm with the course content and with the class. That he tried to remember each student individually by name and face. He shared personal experiences, which helped in gaining a better understanding of the material. Relates very well with students, created a fun and open atmosphere I liked his sense of humor and how he was able to incorporate that into his lectures so that it made it interesting and captured my attention. I also like the powerpoint notes to help me with my personal notes. He is really energetic and he relates the subject material to everyday life. EVERYTHNG!!! He is very good at teaching the material in an interesting and entertaining way. His examples are always memorable. Easy to relate to. Outgoing, encouraging, and energetic. Presented class material in a fun & interesting, yet purposeful way. His willingness to help I thought professor Dibble's teaching style was the most useful aspect in learning the material of this class. He would keep the class interesting and entertaining while still effectivelly covering the material. The video project was also very good. Jayson Dibble really cares about his students and that they get something out of the class. It's not just his teaching style that I enjoy, but also his willingness to help students grow and self develop. he was a great guy and thought me a lot His ability to relate the concepts to things he experienced in his life hey expressed the information in a full-of-life manner that made the class very enjoyable. the patience and clarity he had with his students I found that he was one of very few professors in this university that actually cares about his students. He's also very comfortable with his students and is able to talk to us one on one. I like that he has a fun and interesting personality, if he was teach any other speech classes I would take him again. He was very charismatic with his teaching. He gave great real life examples that everyone could understand when it came to his lectures. Professor was one of the most enthustiastic professors I've had in a long time. His teaching style is unique and challeged his students to participate and allow us to relate the material to our own lives. Professor Dibble is a fair instructor and set up his class so that all learning styles are utilized. He is very easy to relate to which makes it easier to understand his teaching methods. He was able to relate to the students really well. He taught us things in a way we understood them. He didn't use a lot of big words or anything complicated, just simple words so we'd all understand. his care for his students He is always there for his students. To base the tests more off of lectures rather than the book to save money Nothing! Nothing taught was unhelpful in my opinion nothing nothing i can think of too much concentrating on copying down slides Not much to dislike. Perhaps more group discussions would have been more interesting. The style of powerpoint note taking was very fast paced at times and somewhat boring. n/a great professor! N/A There's nothing that I can think of. NA I don't think that is enough group activities in the class. nothing NOTHING... none. notta. nothing nothing I did not think there was any material that did not have value or meaning in this class. I thought the material all covered itself and was very interconnected. Jayson Dibble relates the concepts from class to situations that occur within our own lives that really make it beneficial for students to connect and learn. Can't think of much i found preparation for the tests to be a little difficult, however, the test questions are capable of being worked out. it all was valuable Nothing. I can't really think of any While his classes were entertaining, sometimes there were too many examples to stress one point of the material. The power point was also not very informative, for students who are not capable of picking up the material from what is said in class, the notes taken from the powerpoint may hinder the student when trying to recall the information. He is very friendly and understanding when asking questions. N/A I do not recommend taking his classes back to back. You get a lot of the same jokes repeated.

Great! Excellent. very satisfied. Great instructor for college students. Overall, I think Jayson is an excellent professor who knows the material, enjoys teaching, and cares about his students. He made me want to go to class. =) Very good. An interesting professor that seems to enjoy what he's teaching. He is an awesome teacher who really studies and understands the best ways to make things interesting to our generation. The class discussions relationship communication Learning about different aspects of family communication. Very informative. The video project how tv families change over time writing assignments and discussions the part about family interactions I liked the class discussions and Jayson's examples. The back and forth discussions about debatable issues. I rather liked the examples, the chance of creativity and lectures in class. It was great that we were able to share personal experiences with the class, and have group discussions. I liked the parts where he opened discussion topics up to the class to use real life stories...like applied examples. The tests and lectures were on key, no tricky wording or suprises. the discussions EVERYTHING, especially how he taught. He kept lectures interesting. The Oral history assignment. The aspect where i didnt mind showing up for class. Group video viewings, film clips in class related to course content and activities in class to apply the concepts the writing assignments. I liked the video group project. It was fun bonding with class mates and creatively expressing oneself. Also with all the individual touchs we could take with the project made it fun. I like the activities we did in class because they were interactive and allowed us to learn in a better way than just lecture style. learning about how families should work and things they should not do. The projects and assignments were really interesting and I felt like I wanted to do them I really enjoyed working on the video project. all of them I liked that we could relate to it and not be afraid to speak up about relative topics in class. Probably coming to class and learning about families I enjoyed the fact that the students were able to speak about their own experiences. How it relates to everyday situations. In the end, I realized that I was able to apply a lot of the theories we learned in class to my personal life. When theories explain personal issues, it always makes learning so much more fun. the projects I'm not sure, I didn't really like the course material for family com. I didn't really learn much. Video project - much more fun than a group paper.

nothing Nothing reall, although I think more video examples would be good to add instead of straight-up lecture most of the time. Nothing, everything was enjoyable nothing so far the group project. i think there should be other options besides videos and choice to do own project about the different cultures I didn't enjoy making a family sitcom skit, but I understand the benefits presenting material in a variety of ways. Long powerpoint note taking days. I have no complaints, the class was fun. NA The video presentation...I felt that his lectures geared more towards lecture-> midterm, final-> papers...not group interaction. There was not enough time in the semester to get each individual together in our group to do a great presentation. It was something thrown together at the last minute. test Nothing none. notta. nothing I did not think there was any material that did not have value or meaning in this class. I thought the material all covered itself and was very interconnected. The powerpoints are not online, so in case I wanted to go back and review them, I can't. I understand though why they are not available because some people wouldn't come to class. Textbook reading. Hate that junk none Nothing. The textbook. It is so large with a lot of extra information that is cut out. But I guess it's better than having a class that has multiple books. the lack of information based on the power point presentations. What I found most valuable and helpful about Jayson Dibble is that he provided our class with "real- life" examples that correlated to the subject material, he is a very effective teacher in a way that he made it easy for his students to understand his lectures and made it important to develop strong teacher-to-student relationships with the class. As an instructor, Jayson Dibble also made class interesting and entertaining in a way that brought us students to participate in activities and games related to certain chapter materials. Learned the correct ways to give certain speeches. Willingness to be there and help us out and how much he loves what he gets to do everyday.

In my opinion, I believe Dr. Jayson Dibble is a very effective instructor; therefore, I did not find anything least valuable or least helpful about him. Nothing at all. Nothing I can think of

Overall, instructor Jayson Dibble is a well-spoken, literate, friendly, thoughtful, laid back, and down to earth person who works hard to teach and encourage his students to learn, is easy to talk to for advice or misunderstood information, and demonstrates his knowledge about speech with charisma. Great teacher! Solid teacher that has a high-energy class that you learn more than you think in.

The aspects of the course I liked the best were learning more about how to improve my public presentations by the use of proper outlining and effective speaking, also understanding the socialization amongst how everyday people interact and build healthy relationships with others. He is an easy going teacher who cares about his students doing well in the course. great professor He is passionate about teaching and arming Speech majors with ample intellectual challenges. His powerpoint lectures were consistent and thorough; I could expect to get the most of the course learning through the notes I took. He is open minded in the approach of inviting any and all questions, encouraging of responses and thoughts on the material. he's very enthusiastic and truly enjoys what he teaches He is an awesome professor who makes learning fun! I enjoyed attending class and thinking of ways to apply class material to everyday situations. he relates the topic to something that we can understand he's teaching styles and examples he used were something you could use everyday and it helped to understand the material very well. Jayson is most helpful because he creates an open-environment where students feel comfortable and free to ask questions and does his best to answer the questions until the student understands. Also, Jayson explains concepts with a lot of detail to help us better understand the material. Willing to help a student as long as that student is willing to show a commitment to needing help or to the material in question.

n/a The mini papers- they totally helped me take in the material in bite sizes. The group research manuscript project was a great assignment in many aspects: knowing a bit more about my fellow classmates, working in a group, figuring out together/asking each other questions about the content to include I liked learning about survey designs and errors in data for some strange reason. I also liked the way that the course was formatted such that we had five short papers throughout the semester that were designed to make sure that we understood the material. his excitement to teach the examples he used and how he helpedmake charts and draw graphs to help us with better understanding I like that the class is based on taking notes. All aspects. Especially since some equations involved were things from high school.

everything Nothing comes to mind as I've thought about this the past five minutes. Sorry for not given constructive feedback in this box. The group paper. going out and conducting real world resurch none Too many notes. sometimes differentiating between concepts was confusing.

more time to do projects Having the option to use Helvetica as a font. Just saying. none I would make all of the assignments individual, and ideally there would be more time in a regular semester to space them out a bit more. no none Have later due dates from moment handed out! None.

18. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?

He's enthusiastic about what he teaches and he doesn't make the course hard in order to give the students a bad grade. If you truly understand the material, you will get a good grade. He makes the best exams of any professor I know. They're not easy, but if you really know the material, it will be easy to get a perfect score. He made the material interesting rather than dull and boring. his excited to teach us Always has a positive attitude and is always eager to make learning fun and appealing to his students. He is very passionate about teaching and it reflects in his teaching styles. He's versatile and flexible in his daily approaches of teaching the lessons. He gives and encourages positive conversations about the Speech major and what future is in store.

19. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?

Nothing. Not sure. none Everything was at value. Sometimes when he'd stretch his shirt flap would lift up and I would get distracted to look at his muffin top. Just saying- I can't help my eyes when such action follows.

20. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....

One of the best Professors at UH and also one of my favorites. Great professor, brings a lot of energy to the class. excellent Great professor Knows his stuff Has his students best interests at heart Funny yet very professional Overall, one of the best professors I've had the pleasure of learning from an exceptional instructor that has challenged me to put forth college work and effort into my studies through both courses I am taking from him.

21. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

His lectures--they help you to really understand the material. Being able to go into the field and record and witness persuasion first hand in the mall assignment. the funny lectures Lectures were awesome, examples were fresh and relevant to current times and trands Assignments, exams, and papers were very reasonable and triggered learning The laid back attitude, he wouldn't mind if we ate or drank coffee, we were respectful of one another in the teacher-student learning atmosphere, we would actively discuss mini papers and reviews of films

22. Which aspects of the course did you like least?

Doing the readings--but I don't think many students like to do outside reading to begin with and it's not that big a deal. Not sure. none Did not find one thing negative about this class. The powerpoint lectures were a bit monotonous, however, it was effective when it came time to study the notes I took from them for the exam.

23. What changes would you make in the writing assignments?

Nothing. None, felt the writing assignments were adequate. no No changes... the course was excellent! The deadlines! Other than that they were pretty 'straight' forward in expected format and composition.

I look forward to taking more of Professor Dibble's classes. none. n/a Dibble is a brilliant asset to the UH Speech Department. He has inspired me to give more consideration to graduate school/pursue to get my PhD to teach class in my future. I wish I would of stopped by his office more often to make more interpersonal communicative approaches just to get to know your teachers and sometimes I think I'm the crazy one for blirtatiously responded to his questions in class when others are in silence or shy to speak up, nonetheless, it has been incomparable to most classes I have taken, he has engaged my learning in several aspects.

ebing able to communicate He always made himself available and is always straightforward. He never beat around the bush. Always up front and to the point. Love that! He broke down the lecture material to where it was very easy to understand. His availability for after-class help and his challenging questions per subject. The thing I enjoyed most was the fact that he would ask the class a question and allow them to critically think about it and answer...THEN explain the correct answer and how it became that way. He gives lots of examples to make the content more clear and applicable to our lives in today's society. His powerpoint slides and examples he shared were very helpful and informative. He gives good examples that relate to the subject...easy to remember. He was very knowledgable of the subject matter and willing to help all students in any way possible as long as the students showed a form of dedication to the class and material. he provided many examples and real-life situations in order to reiterate the content being teached! Jayson's lectures with examples were very informative and helpful. They explained the textbook materials thoroughly. The powerpoints are the most valuable and helpful way for me to retain information and they are also interesting. He made class fun and interesting, and had a great way of teaching. Made the material interesting and enjoyable in a laid back environment. All of the topics that you encounter everyday (ie: getting people's name without asking them directly) was very useful and cool to know. Relates very well with his students. Very helpful and makes class enjoyable with his positive energy Chill class room setting allowed for conversation and thought provoked dialogue He was always very energetic and enthusiastic. He made lectures fun and let us interact with him and with classmates which helped boost our ability to learn, grasp, and use the materials from lecture.

19. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?

n/a Cant think of anything at the moment The persuasion portfolio project was very confusing. Although he tried to break down project into parts and have several due dates, it was difficult to apply some of the things we were learning in lecture to the portfolio that we never talked about in class. I was very confused with the approach we were supposed to tackle the persuasion portfolio from. Sometimes he seems more interested in certain people's answers more than others. Some people wouldn't speak up while those who seemed "preferred" often did. There were times when I felt that Jayson Dibble incorporated his own personal beliefs too much into the content to the point that it then felt as if he was putting down the students if they believed or went along with the way certain things are in society; i.e., agreeing that certain medical conditions do exist while he believes that it may be a fabrication of sorts by those in the medical field just to get more money. If we believe that these conditions do exist, it almost felt as though we were thought of as being gullible and not knowing any better. Nothing. Nothing. not much I did not find anything about Jayson that was not valuable or helpful. nothing Nothing comes to mind. All of the topics were interesting and entertaining. Syllabus/Project outlines were a little vague at times His jokes are cheesy sometimes. But it's funny.

20. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....

down to earth awesome! Enjoyed every class i took from him. He is a good teacher that knows his material very well, but the portfolio project needs to be approached differently... it was very confusing. an excellent professor who has challenged me...and makes the class enjoyable to attend. Very enthusiastic about the course and course material, loves teaching what knowledge he has and is really good about pushing students to better themselves in the way that they think in regards to the content. He is a great teacher who is knows his stuff and is also very motivational as well. he's a good professor that knows his material He was a great professor and he made the course interesting. very thorough teacher & great class! i really learned a lot Jayson was a great professor. He has been one of my favorite professors. I plan to take more classes with him. I think Jayson Dibble is a good teacher that is willing to take the time to help his students. He has a good teaching method that makes the classes go by fast. a great teacher. Intelligent in persuasion and wants us to learn the material. Energetic and good guy, who is very interested in his research. Very cool and very relatable. AWESOME!! good stuff i learned a lot and actually enjoyed going to class He is a great professor. It is my third time in one of his classes and my opinion has not changed. He knows how to get us excited and interested in class.

21. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

interactive learning I liked that I was able to apply what i learned in this class to the real world more than twice. Lecture and persuasion material. Often found a lot of the material we went over in class, in the real world. The discussions and his powerpoint presentations. All of the examples of each theory. Incorporating real life scenarios both in the history of the world, and his own personal history, that tie in to what we are learning. The projects were fun to do and I really learned a lot more in his class than in my previous SP 364 class. It wasn't always straight from the book and he used examples from previous experiences which really helped me to relate to his teachings and lessons. his jokes and his slide shows All. the in-class discussions and examples My favorite aspect of the course was the 2nd reaction paper. We were told to go Ala Moana and conduct our own experiments. I enjoyed actually going out and testing and observing the course material. The best part aboout this course is the written assignments, because it had more of a freestyle to it rather than certain things students had to incorporate and rules to follow. The project and the thought pieces Applying the material to real like situations. There was good examples that illustrated the terms. The tests were actually fun to take. I really liked them. Learning new things and how I can apply them in real-life siutations class room setting I enjoyed the class exercises because it gave us a chance to get to know everyone and use what we learned in a real life situation.

22. Which aspects of the course did you like least?

n/a The essay part of the exams. Persuasion Training Portfolio, it was confusing overall and I did not enjoy stressing out about this what was supposed to be a "fun" project. The exams...they weren't as "straightforward" as he described them to be. I felt like additional help could have been provided that would have helped the class find better ways to study. The semester long project. That I bombed the test, but it was my own fault because I had too much on my plate at the time. the project none. nothing The semester project would have been more fun and helpful had we had the option to do it in a group. I didn't like how there was 50 multiple questions and 3-4 essays on the midterm. I felt I was rushed and didn't have enough time. should have more project and writing instead of midterm and final for a WI class. none. The semester manual. Even though it wasn't too stressful, the project was my least favorite part of the course. The midterm was a little difficult.

23. What changes would you make in the writing assignments?

n/a I didn't like the Super size me paper but I really enjoyed the Mall Paper. Maybe do two papers like the mall paper. Going over how to put together portfolio and what material is supposed to be in there. none. Maybe have one more date of something to turn in and have graded for the semester long project. So much time elapsed between the last assignment and submitting the final product that it became hard to remember what the thought or focus of it was. I enjoyed the writing assignments. I wouldn't change a thing. none. not much I wouldn't make any changes to the writing assignments. Nothing. None none. The writing assignments were fun to write. Nothing to change. I enjoyed the writing assignments. We watched an interesting film and got to do a fun field exercise. It would have been more fun if we got to go out as a class to do the field exercise.

Very informative and lecture was always entertaining; materials covered in class proved to be very beneficial to my learning. Explanation of research study findings and graphs helped students decipher results. His knowledge of everything we learn about and his willingness to admit that there are other theories out there that he may not necessarily believe in, but there are others out there. And he sometimes speaks of it. He communicates his points across well, and gives multiple examples for the subject being covered. great teacher, very willing to help comprehend course material. Tries hard to make the terms and models relatable to the class. Very easy to talk to. Felt very comfortable speaking in class and asking questions. Also his lectures were very easy to listen to and entertaining. I love have Jayson Dibble as a professor. The way Jayson was easy to relate to his avalability to meet with after class communication He was always available when I needed to see him for help and he makes the class very fun and interesting. He explains the materials very well. He utilizes many examples to help us understand. presents material in a way that is relatable to our life He is very enthusiastic and presents the materials with examples that we can relate to. His lectures are interesting and he has a great personality. He's very personable and knowledegable and that he explains concepts in a way in which it is easily understandable.

18. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?

n/a I found i could mostly do without the readings for this class. Sometimes he can seem insensitive to students who are rather shy and have a hard time asking questions in front of the class or even speaking. Sometimes it seemed like those students had a hard time on trying to speak or ask questions, they looked like they felt uneasy and unwelcome. But it wasn't all the time, but I do recall those instances when I caught it. I don't know, he was really good. none n/a N/A I can't think of anything... n/a I wish the power points were online although I can understand the reasoning as to why he doesn't post them. That he did not go over the structure of an APA paper or how to cite things properly. He did have a sample online, but it would be nice if he provided other samples from previous projects. Either that, or gave a walk through. And I guess when we have questions, I think he ends up spinning us around sometimes.

19. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....

Professor Dibble is a great professor who is very knowledgeable and cordial to all his students and encouraged class discussions. He is a good professor and willing to help his students in any way he can, he is also rather enthusiastic and fun. He has a lot of energy and is organized. Other than the shy or insecure students instances he was a fun and fair professor he treated his students equally most of the time. he is awesome- really fun teacher! great teacher very enthusiastic, never a dull moment. Great professor, I wish he could teach all my classes. Awesome professor! One of the best professors I have had. he is very knowledgeable in many areas of speech and is very enthusiastic about his teaching. down to earth Excellent Great! Fantastic!! fun, enthusiastic, knowledgable He is a great professor. Very interesting and happy and enthusiastic. I'll give him a 5 out of 5. He is an asset to the Speech department.

The atmosphere that was presented in the class was very open to discussion and questions. Also, examples that Professor Dibble demonstrated were entertaining. I rather liked everything in the course, especially everything or anything I could place or imagine my friends in. This usually worked for the more happier and longer topics we spoke about. Like self-disclosure, love, friendships, communication, attraction, etc. The material of the class was presented in a very interesting way that made me want to learn more. Class discussions and the course material. The way Jayson was able to help me & the other students understand the material better by having us do activities & exercises that related to certain topics. his humor and his enthusiams about the course group discussionsn/a I liked how he didn't just lecture everyday, but he did activities and we watched videos as well. Examples that he thinks are very easy to understand. He tries to make it somewhat relevant to us so very helpful. chapters regardimg jealousy I really enjoyed the material as a whole, both from lecture and from the textbook. I loved it when we watched the videos. It made me think beyond the classroom and showed me that studying communication behaviors is an actual worthwhile thing to pursue. ex. when we studied power and violence and when we looked at polyamory. I thought that was beyond awesome. I would have loved to have further discussed these issues and apply Speech concepts to them.

I participated some of it even before the course started and I dont really have friends... so hard to fulfill the requirement.. n/a The research project. There weren't a bunch of due dates and a step by step outline about what we needed to do; also some of us have not taken research methods yet so we weren't sure how a proper research paper looks like. This caused a lot of us to procrastinate and be unorganized. In the beginning, it seemed like I was watching more of a comedy show than anything. But that's just Jayson's demeanor. He's very animated.

22. What changes would you make in the lectures?

Provide powerpoints for lectures. Perhaps more pictures of the behavior being described. LOLcats are nice, but some actual visual aids might also help. More videos try to cover lgbt relationships rather than purely heterosexual ones Nothing. none n/a Nothing, he's doing great. Nothing! It's PERFECT!! n/a Maybe go a little bit more into detail. more videos, or interactive style lectures.

23. What changes would you make in the readings?

n/a Nothing Find some material regarding intimate relationships between same-sex partners. Readings are good too. none n/a He makes his own changes. He doesn't make us read what's unecessary, but only what we need to know for the exam. I really liked the textbook we used in class, so it was good. It was not too hard to read the all reading materials. n/a I enjoyed the readings. Maybe shorter readings, or more videos. It's not that the content is not interesting, it's just that reading all that material in addition to all the other material the other speech classes have is very taxing on an individual.

Overall Professor Dibble is a great professor and I really enjoyed his lectures. Thank you for an amazing interesting class and I liked nearly everything I learned in it. Jayson Dibble is a great professor. Thank you very much for teaching this course! It is/was very interesting and I want to learn more about this topic!!! Definitely You are my favorite professor!!! I hate to give all strongly agrees, but what can I say, when I see an effective teacher, I need to give them the props that they deserve.
