Gave me experience in a classroom.

this class helped me because it taught me the goals of social studies teaching and learning.

It required me to do hours in a real classroom setting and reflect upon what I learned.

This course is the field experience. Dr. Mathis was very helpful. She went over my lesson plans with me and she gave me lots of helpful feedback. She was also very prompt with emails and she did a lot of frequent 'housekeeping,' meaning she would ask if anyone had any questions about practicum at the beginning of almost every class.

I LEARNED WAYS TO INCORPORATE SOCIAL STUDIES IN TO OTHER CONTENT AREAS

I had the opportunity to be in a 5th grade classroom and work with the students. I learned a lot about teaching and different strategies.

I guess I learned some useful theories and concepts to use in the classroom, but the field experience itself was by far more useful than this online class.

I think that there is nothing to be added to the course. There was enough work with the weekly reflections and being in the classroom.

She can be more clear in her expectations and keep it the same throughout the semester. Also she should have the same expectations for all students.

Very helpful!

She knows her content, but I feel she doesn't really have a connection to the actual classroom anymore so this makes it hard for us to do what she is asking because it is not something reasonable to the elementary classroom.

GREAT. LIKE THE ENTHUSIASM AND PASSION SHE HAS FOR TEACHING. GREAT ROLE MODEL FOR FUTURE TEACHERS.

An awesome teacher that knows her material well. She knows how to relate what is in the textbooks and apply them in the classroom.

Professor Mathis is a very good teacher. She has the techniques to teach social studies methods effectively. However, i feel that she needs to work on her professionalism. I don't agree with being criticized so harshly in front of other students when Professor Mathis can just address it between group personally.

Great always teaches me something new every day

This course was alright, but as I said earlier things should be stated clearer for the students to understand and the teacher should respond to emails in a more timely manner.

This course has provided me with the skills and tools that will help me to effectively teach a classroom of my own in the future. Being physically present in the classroom has taught me about how to apply the methods and strategies that i have learned.

This course has helped me to do better within the field. Doing a field experience has definately helped me to gain experience for when I have my own classroom.

It helped me gain first hand experience being in a classroom, working with students, and seeing things from a teacher's perspective.

This teacher has helped me to gain confidence in my skills and strategies that would help me to instruct the students in my practicum class.

Less reflections

Three lesson plans were difficult to do in a semester. I think EDEE 400B should only require two lessons plans.

One sugggestion would be to occassionally have time for students to share their experiences at practicum with others in the class.

I liked this teacher's style. She was very direct and easy to listen to. She remained positive, and tried to encourage us with what we were doing right.

I think that the instructor should better explain examples given within the course. I think that she should go over the prompts more throughout the semester.

good. She is always willing to meet with you, listen to what you have to say, and work with you. I appreciate that this professor kept encouraging me throughout the semester.

I like that she gives both positive feedback and feedback on areas for improvement. Didn't just focus only on negative. Also, appreciate feedback on lesson.

I enjoyed sitting under Dr. Mathis' teaching. I learned a lot from her. I can tell that she is open minded and interested in learning all about local culture.

This course is completely benficial to whomever may take it. It will teach the participants to be a professional in the educational field.

It gave me the opportunity to step into a classroom and see how it really goes being a teacher. Good class.

Work load feels too high for just one credit. So many expectations are placed on us with teaching and writing 3 lessons and writing reflections as well as putting in our hours.

I thought it was an important class. I appreciated the fact that my papers were graded and returned in a timely manner. Dr. Mathis always provided plenty of feedback.
