| This class is extremely hard. Not being allowed to ask questions has really set me back and
makes it harder for me to learn. She is absolutely the authority on Pharmacology and she
knows her stuff but it is really difficult to keep up with her even when I read ahead and try to
stay on top of what the current subject matter is. Perhaps because there is so much material
to teach in one semester and it does not allow for class questions or discussions, the college
may consider breaking this class up into two semesters? |
| Although there is a large amount of material covered in this course, Mrs. Beale goes above and
beyond to make resources readily available to her students in a number of ways. It's obvious that
she has genuine care for her students and helping them learn the material that will greatly lessen
the amount of medical errors in hospitals today. |
| I think Ms. Beale is a great teacher. She really knows her subject in depth.I have learned a lot about being organized and how not to be tardy or absent. She is very strict and this helps a lot of students to be accountable. I have learned to be prepared because you may have a quiz everytime you start class. Some of the information she gave was very overwhelming, but I know it was useful. |

and anything related is amazing. Really encouraged me to achieve more or hold myself to a higher
standard. I was overwhelmed with the the vast terminology and the amount of drugs we covered-
let alone the mere size of the bookâ?? but Mrs. Beale gave us more than enough support with hour
study sessions before each class and extra case studies/material to broaden our scope on the
topics. She also promoted the use of flash cards which she printed out for our use and led us to
websites that electronically tested our knowledge of drug names and indications. Mrs. Beale is an
excellent teacher. I feel very confident and enriched leaving her class everyday. |

There is no time for questions during class really. However, she always has time after class to
answer questions, and she encourages emailing her questions that she can respond to via email. |

we cover in our Pharmacology class. I have learned so many drug names (generic and trade) and
their uses and indications. I know what I've learned in this class will definitely help me in my goals

| She knows her material well, but I do not feel like she knows how to teach it. I did not feel like she
started from the basics of the coarse and that we were thrown in to too much information. We go
over a lot of drugs, but I wish we stayed on them for more time. Because we move so fast, I do not
feel like I learned that much in this coarse. Although the exams are easy, It does not let us learn
very much about the drugs. We are simply remembering the answers to questions in the SLO's, not
the actually information about the drugs. Her rules are very strict as well, in the syllabus it says that
we are not able to leave for any reason or she will mark you absent, nature calls sometimes :) She is
nice, but I think she should loosen up a bit :P |
| When I registered for this class, I was quite nervous to take this course because it seemed quite
challenging. I don't get easily discouraged so I thought I'd give this class a shot, and I'm glad I did.
Mrs. Beale is a great professor. She knows this subject area really well, which allowed her to explain
things in ways that allowed us to have a better grasp of the information. Her ways of teaching really
helped me learn and understand this subject area. |
| This is a very difficult subject matter with extremely too much information to retain in a semester.
She understands this challenge and structures the course material to make it possible for the
average hard working student to succeed. She always has a positive attitude, a friendly smile and a
"trust me, we'll be okay" confidence. This is a MONSTER subject, and she is the beast master that
walks with you to safety. I have learned a lot. Thank you. |

| GREAT PROFESSOR. Clear and goes the extra mile to give her students all the current drug
information. She gives us flash cards that she has made herself and multiple sources to study in her
book. It is obvious that she has put in hours into her lecture and class booklet. Knows a lot about
this subject and clearly wants you to learn. If you attend class and study hard it is easy to learn and
do well but the effort is needed. We learned hundreds of drugs and her depth of knowledge was very
good. Having her as a face to face teacher was VERY beneficial and I don't think it would be the same
if I had to take her class online. |

| Pharmacology 203 Fall 2011 @ WCC taught by Allison Beale is a thorough and inviting class for those dedicated to the health field. Encompassing pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical applications and more, Pharm 203 has provided a more than sufficient core for future nurses, physicians, pharmacologists and veterinarians.
The class was well prepared with detailed slides, review sheets, flash cards, referred websites and readings. The class room lectures were organized and incorporated previous lectures which strengthened our understanding of the physiological effects of drugs and memory of drugs and their uses. At times the information was overwhelming however the members in class were dedicated. This class is not for those who only want the pharmacology credit, rather it is for those students who are going to walk out of pharmacology 203 with information that can be applied to their future practice.
Leaving this class, I feel I have a strong base for the understanding of the diseases of the cardiovascular system, respiratory system, endocrinology system, etc and understanding of the uses, precautions and efficiencies of drugs. I was fortunate to have a class-room pharmacology lecture taught by a dedicated, skilled and knowledgeable instructor. I recommend this specific course to those who are serious to the medical profession. |

| Professor Beale taught the class with great passion for the subject and was fairly easy to follow. She
allowed enough time for understanding and took time to answer questions. Great professor and

| This class was a little to intensive. Seemed like a more advanced Pharm course. To much information to remember, kind of sets us up for failure. She is so knowledgeable, but shouldn't expect us to know all that she does in a few months. Needs to not put so much points on just 2 exams. Doesn't give us much chance to increase our grade. If you fail one, you fail the class. Needs to give points on assignments, or extra credit for "lab" hours. Bottom line...to much information, and to complicated. She is very nice though. |
| Dr. Beale is a great teacher who presents her material in an organized comprehensive way. She takes the time to make sure her students are learning and understanding the material and will go the extra mile to help her class succeed. She sets aside time to tutor her student and is extremeley organized and dedicated. If only every teach were as engaged as she is...college would be much less stressful! |
| 8:05am is far too early for a course of this rigour. I also think that questions should be directed to individuals instead of the class. Slight embarrassment burned certain drugs into my mind well and I think reviews would take less time that way.
Aside from that, I think the course is quite well done. |

| This is a very difficult course. The instructor was well-informed about the topic, and very enthusiastic about the subject. Class participation was strongly encouraged, and I would definitely recommend this instructor to another student. The diagrams/notes on the white board drawn in color were very helpful. Review sessions prior to class were also extremely helpful. |
| I was confused at the beginning of the semester because some assignment dates were not clearly defined. I think Allison Beale is a great teacher, and she genuinely cares about her students retaining her material. I thoroughly enjoyed her class this semester. |
| I don't think that actually memorizing drugs, trade names are helpful for the health care field. I would rather have an opportunity to actually look up drugs and find out what it is for. I think homework assignments like a shorter case study's would be better than giving only 2 exams and quizes everyday; that way students can learn more about drugs and their uses. There are too many drugs to be covered and a comprehensive exam is not fair for this course level. I think that covering drugs by adding extra background information confuses students on what they actually have to know. the class should be taught where the students do not have previous information about drugs. There is also too much technical terms that i was unfamiliar with that were not explained in class. |

stories to the topic she explain because it helps me better understand, relate and remember what
she was lecturing about. I would like to suggest that she set up games before class with the student
who come early to help them with the memorization. It is also a fun way to understand the material.
Maybe play jeporty or memoriazation with the cards, etc. Overall she is great. |

| Because of the time allotted, students can't really ask questions. But, as an alternative, drilling
drugs while lecturing helped a lot. The two case studies were perfect for us to learn from. The
only trouble I had was regarding the second case study, the questions on the second page are
confusing (the question asking the weight of someone before they overdosed). Quizzes and the
quiz reviews were very very very helpful, even when we didn't have quizzes. Review questions
were easy and good to prep ourselves before class. It also became helpful as quiz reviews.
Perhaps in the future, (since you use many review and quiz questions on the midterm/final) you
would increase the quizzes from 10 questions to 15? 10 questions on drugs and 5 or less that
were on the review questions? If you did that, students have to do the review and it'll help them
for the tests. Recordings are helpful but I didn't listen to them as much as I would've if this wasn't
a summer course. Also, I think it was because of the time allotted that some chapters seemed
very rushed. I know it was because you needed to cover 2 lectures in 1 day but it made me feel
rushed that I couldn't write as fast as you went through slides. (But I honestly think it was due to
a short 6-wk course) Thank you very much for starting class an hour early, it helped me review
and stay focused. I also liked how you color coded everything on the slides, that made it much
more helpful. I think that's all I can think of, thank you for a good class!! |

| The most interesting and applicable course that I have taken thus far as a pre-requisite for nursing.
She opened up new avenues of thinking fro me and really has me questioning whether I might like
to go into pharmacology instead. The things I've learned have been useful in my job at the hospital.
