5. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
IR Theories
Learning about all the political theories that surround the international community.
None
The examination of the different theories of international relations.
Talking about different political schools of thought and applying them to everyday life and our papers was the best part of the course.
Going over theories of IR.
I've learned more than i expected from this class.
the final project
I always like it when teachers provide tips for writing better papers. I already knew most of the stuff but was still nice.
What I found most valuable were how each country functions to their own government and their relationship to the other, such as doing business--importing and exporting goods.
6. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
Everything else...especially how we spent most of the semester learning how to write rather than things related to political science and international relations
Nothing
The presentations given in class by the instructor. Many of the readings were not relevant to the course.
N/A
The first month of the course seemed totally pointless. It did not cover political theories and nobody ever read the material.
Movies.
The whole set up of this course was very unhelpful. The first half of the class focused on how to write a research paper, the second half was a small overview of international relations methods. I am very disappointed with this class as I expected to learn a lot about international relations and global politics and have not. Lectures were disjointed and hard to follow, He relied on readings to teach us the class instead of having them as stimulators and discussion starters.
i think the long articles was pretty much challenging for some of the students and for myself.
The quizzes. I read the material and understood it. I don't think my quiz scores reflect that.
I found least valuable were the readings. Not only were most of the readings very long and complex, but were also very boring.

He means well and is a very nice person, just not a very good teacher
Hard course. There was a lot of reading that was very academic and I wish that I could have understood it better. But I guess that's my fault. Political science is interesting and this class taught me a lot. The material is hard to understand but it was challenging and that's what school is about.
When many students did poorly on exams and quizzes, instructor did not bother to go over what students were doing wrong. Some students were struggling with the subject matter and instructor did not go over them clearly or sometimes none at all. Instructor needs to work on teaching besides talking about his own research. He made excuses on how busy he was. It makes me think that you should not be teaching a course if you are this busy. You complained a lot about your own research during many class times. You do not bother answering emails even if it were simple questions. Next time, if you are this busy, please don't let anyone else suffer due to you not being able to be a teacher and a researcher at the same time. It seems to me and to many others that you are just there to be there not cater to your students. Although teaching is not for everyone, you should practice and evaluate yourself before teaching another course.
In the future Yong Shin should take more time before the semester to plan out the lectures and due dates of papers. A lot of the dates kept changing which made the course much more difficult than it needed to be.
I had very high hopes for this class and was extremely disappointed. I feel as though I did not learn anything beyond what I could have read outside of class.
He is a new teacher. I saw that some of the students tried to take advantage of that. I don't think he set unrealistic expectation from us but I think a lot of students were use to poli sci class structure. He could of been a little clearer but he shouldn't give in to student demands to easily. I really like that he provided writing tips since it was important to the class and for college in general. I like that I knew what to study for on the midterm because when I hate it when I'm left in the dark.
Overall, I enjoyed this class because I had an awesome teacher who was very helpful. Thank you for sharing your thoughts of the class' growth with your class on the last day of school--it means alot. Take care and have a great summer. Hope to see you around.
