7. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Learning about the different tests involved with regressions and how to look for certain characteristics.
Everything was extremely important to develop an understanding of the topic at its basic roots.
program will be
The coding exercises.
Being able to work with him outside of class was extremely helpful, whenever I needed a little extra explanation he always was willing to provide it. His cheat sheets were also probably more helpful than most study guides. They don't give away enough to rely just on them, but they help you understand which sections you need to focus on, and what the most important sections are. These were probably the best study guides I have recieved in my college carear, and non have helped me learn anywhere close to as well.
Economics things
The homework. More homework would have strengthened or at least accelerated the entire class's understanding of the material.
Everything... This class should be required for econ majors. I liked how Professor Lee would keep on coming back to basics; making sure the theory is right is very important and it was good to hear it multiple times every week.
Examples given by the instructor showing the applicability of the concepts and topics. The instructor also went over everything more than once which significantly helped me to really learn the material. I also found it extremely helpful that the instructor not only went over the theoretical basis for the material we covered, but made sure to highlight all the things that would be useful in the real world. Lastly, the homework was really helpful because it gave us the opportunity to apply what we had learned, and the instructor was sure to go over all assignments and show us how to do them correctly after we had gotten them back.
Lecture, lecture, lecture. In order to learn the material, you must come to class everyday and be fully engaged in his teachings. Missing even one day will definitely set you back. Professor Lee possesses an incredible understanding of econometrics and is able to pass his knowledge on to his students in the most clear, understandable manner. I hadn't taken a statistics or economics course since 2008, so I was a little apprehensive about taking the course. Professor Lee made sure his students understood all material before moving on to a new topic, always willing to answer any question you had during or after class. Homework assignments were also very helpful, as you were able to apply what you learned in class and run actual regressions with real world data.

Everything was necessary.

None.
I felt there werent enough in class problems that interacted with the students. I feel more questions involving students would have helped. At the same time though this may not be his fault, as he would ask general questions and there often were few volunteers.

Dr. Lee is very knowledgable in Econometrics. He knows what he's talking about and I learned most of the concepts through the examples he's given. The textbook could have been a little easier to read but by going to class every day you learn most of what you need to. I enjoyed this class more than I though (knowing it would be very difficult) but I feel I have learned a lot.
I had a hard time understanding some of the material. I looked through the book and the book was not helpful. I feel as though it would be beneficial to have done problems that were similar to the homework during class. The test were fine and reasonable, I just wish we went into focus on the big picture a little more, and centered the class around what to do in order to do thing s correctly.
Thank you prof.
He is a very enjoyable teacher
Teacher's who speak English as a second language are often very intelligent, and informed, but have difficulty conveying the course material. Not much can be done about this, so it is not something I hold against the teacher.
While Dr. Lee's lectured on material that came directly from the book, I often found it necessary to rely on the textbook to complete the homework assignments; my lecture notes were not enough. Perhaps going over some of problems similar to those found in the homework using the EViews software in class would have been more helpful than discussions of theory that I knew I wouldn't be responsible to know for the test or homwork. Overall, I enjoyed this class very much.
Prof. Lee is a great professor. He's able to continuously go beyond the class in terms of problems and implications of the material we're learning. I just wish he weren't so scary for walking into class 5 minutes late. There are just some things that cannot be helped, especially for a class located in one of the farthest corners of the campus. 30 minutes late is understandable but up to 10 minutes should be acceptable when its beyond the student's control to be able to traverse such a great distance in 10 or less minutes in between classes... Electronic device should be allowed. There are some aspects of the course, especially the software dependency that would make it a plus in having in the course. Whether or not a student cannot control his or herself from going off on a tangent is their responsibility, but shouldn't come at the expense of enhancing the course. Great class, great semester.
Excellent instructor! very intelligent and funny, explains everything clearly. The book selection was also very appropriately chosen, as it supplemented Dr. Lee's lessons quite well.
Dr. Sang Lee was a great professor who showed a lot of enthusiasm and was able to make econometrics fun, while also ensuring that we learned the topics and got the most out of the course as possible. He was always prepared, returned all assignments and exams to us very quickly, and showed considerable knowledge of the subject. Given this experience, I would highly recommend any of his courses to other students.
Professor Lee is one of the best professors I've had the privilege of learning from. Econometrics is a challenging subject matter, but he teaches the material in such a way that enables anyone who comes to class everyday and engages in his lectures to gain a deep understanding of econometrics. I would definitely recommend taking this course, or another course taught by Professor Lee, if you want to learn from a brilliant man who is an amazing teacher.

There was a good mixture of mathematics, economics concepts, and stories to explain all of the materials. I was unsure about taking this class but was pleasantly surprised, I enjoyed it. This class could be extremely dull, but Professor Lee made it interesting. He was organized and his expectations were made clear.
I don't actually have an answer to #8, as I never attempted to meet him outside of class.
I learned a lot from this class and was very glad to finally apply the math I have learned over the years to something very applicable in our society. I look forward to taking your Econometrics class next semester.
The instructor was very helpful because sometimes I was confused a bout some topics but when I met him he tried to make it easy and clear for me . I want to thank him because he is the best .
Taking this class should be required for those considering grad school. It has sparked an interest in graduate economics studies in me.

9. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
nothing
The major drawback of the course was that there was simply too much material in too short a period of time.
Sometimes I could not catch what he said due to his fast speaking.
In personal opinion, I'd like to learn discrete time views, rather than continuous time views. In generally, I believe discrete time view is what I need rather than continuous one. At least, if I can have more time to learn with continous time views, it will be great: I think we didn't have much time with A.Chiang's book. Mathecon needs "II" required course with discrete math, and continous view would be provided with different course.

I think the course can be better coordinated with ECON 606 and ECON 607. Ideally, ECON 627 introduces the concepts a week (or two) before they are needed in ECON 606 and/or 607. In this way, the mathematics would be spread out over the entire semester and the three courses would serve to reinforce each other.
He is a good teacher.
Prof.Lee was perfect. Especially compared with another instructors, his teaching method is easy but efficient to learn. I have nothing but a this one sentence.
This was a very helpful course and am glad we doubled up on it initially and took micro later because we definitely needed the concepts learned in math econ for micro and macro, especially micro. Professor Lee communicated well and was always willing to answer questions.

Good explanations of material in class.
Lectures.
Prof. Lee is one of the better teachers I've had. His teaching style matches my learning style (he lectures about the chapter via walktrough and I listen and understand). If the UHM system wishes to increase the efficacy of their lessons onto their students they should do two things: - Provide details on the teacher's teaching style. - Let teachers with more efficient ratings teach more (with pay) and vice versa. Tenure should not be an excuse for laziness. Back to Prof. Lee: Awsome.
The explaining of the graphs, made me understand how and why instead of just memorizing. Also I appreciated the repitition of information, so it was difficult to forget. The midterm had no multiple choice questions, which I thought was AWESOME! I really hate multiple choice because it doesn't exercise our ability to create graphs and explain.

lectures make the textbook more valuable and easier to understand
Enjoyed the class! Instead of lecturing the whole class period it would have been nice to work through a problem in class to make sure I fully understood the material being covered.
Pretty good lecturer, for the most part class was interesting.
Awesome gate-keeper class.
We had a TA?
You've definitely deepend my interest in Economics!
Midterm was very hard and graded very critically

Prof.Lee is the most funnest professor who ever instructed me. I like his teaching style. No doubt he is very knowledgeable and always ready to help us out. I'll give him five stars for this class. (*^__^*)
Very useful techniques in econ research
professor is very confident and honest in teaching. He always emphasized on theory and create interest in the subject. The practical examples were very useful.

It was interesting looking at how complicated the job market is.
The debates challenged us to think critically about the issue and be able to support our position. It also required us to research and use the economic theory that we learned. I think that this was the most valuable part of the course.
The Debates.
the gender distribution was very nice for econ
Lots of information covered, but structure made it easier to learn material. Debate format allowed me to improve presentation and analytical skills.
The lectures were very good. The debates were also good learning experiences

Everything I have learned in this class was valuable! =)
the O requirement is kind of a joke, it should not be forced on teachers
i thought maybe the debates should have been split into 2 classes to allow for more time for the topics. maybe one day to present their viewpoints from each side and another day to debate the topic.

6. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Homework assignment really helped me get understanding of this subject. Mr Lee gave us homeworks each week and so I could review the chapters every week. And Mr Lee is very eager to give us every knowledge he has.
very informative, good homeworks. exams are super hard but helps a lot.
If one has a sufficient background in mathematics and is a "quick" learner, perhaps this class may be an appropriate choice.
I thought the homework assignments were helpful and the professor being able to post the answers online helped to understand the problems we had difficulties in.
Usage of Power point presentations
Everything was valuable. All things can be applied to the real world and they build upon each other.
The homework closely tied to what was being discussed in the lecture. The homeword reiterated what was going on in class and allowed me to better understand the material.
I could get basic concepts of microeconomics. I expect that everything learned from this course so far will be good foundation for taking upper level classes. Assignment was very good learning method. Through it, I could effectively review each chapter. Some homework was little big tricky but it is absolutely needed for all student. If there is no homework, only a few student will prepare for next class. I strongly urge you to turn out homework about that students does not learn. If they do homework before the class, lecture will be well acquired by students. This course was very interesting not boring. I think I learned huge volume of knowlege about economics, and it was not easy to learn this only during one semester. Instructor's explanation was very understandable and clear. I want to say "thank you" Thanks to Professor Lee, I could study my favorite subject, economics.
The homework assignment were very valuable because otherwise I think it is easy to just cruise through the topics without really gaining a true understanding of the concepts. This obstacle is immediately eliminated by the requirement of weekly homework assignments.
It really helped that the instructor was able to connect with the students. He used great examples and went at a steady pace.
7. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
Hard to understand.

The text book did not provide adequate examples to clarify and explain the subject matter of the chapter.
The course only really used staple examples from the book. On a few occasions the instructor used some personal examples to help highlight ideas. If I could have asked for anything more maybe I would have asked for some more detailed, real world, recent examples. Possibly pulling some small information from current events. Event just a few minutes in the beginning of class just to show students how applicable and relevant the material is. However that may not be possible for many reasons.
Honestly, i think everything i learned in the class was valuable to me.
