7. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
|
| Everything I learned through this course I found valuable to all aspects of my life. I especially valued the thoughts, comments and views of my classmates. They provided insight on topics that I wouldn't have otherwise noticed or thought about. |
| I loved this course and found almost all of it to be valuable. Manly the group projects. |
| Everything this class was a very educational enriching experience! |
| I appreciate the instructor providing us with resources of a variety of web links/videos that pertained to our course work, and it absolutely opened my eyes and changed my perspective on how I see the world. For example, I only heard about Michael Moore's "Sicko" movie, but never really took the time to see it until now. Overall, I valued this class in its entirety especially because it has brought awareness on the effects of our culture on the world. |
| it was a good course because it did show that there are a lot of places that do sustainability and not just one certain area. throughout the world and all. |
| I feel the theory, varying subject matter and resources was most valuable. |
| The numerous online resources that Dr. Becker provided as class material. Some I would have
never found on my own and am very glad that Dr. Becker facilitated our learning through the
class with these materials.
The blog itself, which isnʻt something I was used to, was interesting and odd at the same time. I
enjoyed blogging myself, being able to think through what I had learned and articulate it in the
blog. This allowed better absorption and understanding. The interaction between students was
difficult, because since a lot of people posted large blog posts, it was difficult to read through
more than one or two others posts and keep up with the class material at the same time. |
|
|
8. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
|
| Nothing. |
| Due dates =/ |
| I didn't care much for the group project. Trying to schedule a meeting when everyone are on total different schedules took up a lot of time. |
| The teacher had a lot of links to go to but a lot did not work. She would have things down to do but some just did not explain very well. She also wanted so much done in a certain amount of time, i know this class is online but we do have other classes and not that much time to be watch a couple of videos that are 20 maybe 45 minutes long. |
| I would much rather prefer this class as a physical class held in person. Being that sustainability is
a hands on endeavor, I believe we must come together in person and plan modes of action tangibly
in our surroundings. If there were a live chat for the class, that might have worked better for direct
interaction (virtually). |

16. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
|
| I appreciate the wealth of information that was shared about sustainability (ecovillages, green living, etc). By the end of this course, I felt compelled to make changes in my personal life (eat more locally grown food and 50% raw food diet, bike to work once per week) to lessen my contribution to global warming. |
| I really enjoyed all the supplemental reading and video materials offered for each module. I was inspired by many of the videos that we were assigned to watch. |
| I enjoyed the opportunity to connect learning to the community. |
| I liked the ability to use many different forms of media to learn about sustainability and the freedom
to write about what I had learned on a blog. This absorption and release pattern works very well for
people to really understand something fully. This could have been done in a physical classroom
with a journal, which is a good habit in life to write down your thoughts. |
|
|
17. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
|
| New to blogging, I found it difficult and inconvenient at times having to post my assignments elsewhere other than Laulima. Also, working together with other students (outer island) on our group project was a little difficult as well. |
| I think just because there is sooooo much work to do in this class it can be extremely overwhelming and that it would be better to just have a suggestion of when assignments should be done to keep on track, but have them be due at the end of the semester. I loved everything about this class but just found it really hard to keep up with. |
| Itʻs fully online nature. I would like to meet with people more regularly and that is difficult to do
when people sign up for an online course. People take it to be able to learn without meeting.
Personally, I think deeper learning occurs with closer communication. |
