11. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?
|
| I enjoyed the logical ways that the lectures were presented. The notes were easy to understand and they went over the key concepts. I like that the professor chose to test us on important material from the book, lecture, and supplementary packet. Because of the way that the professor took the material and applied it to real life, I feel as if I've been able to remember it better. I also like that grades and announcements are frequently posted on Laulima. Also, the study sessions are very helpful. |
| That there were numerous online resources like practice tests and supplementary papers. |
| All of the information available on laulima pertaining to this course was very helpful. This included grades, extra credit, supplementary reading and teacher feedback. Review sessions outside class were also helpful. |
| the most valuable things about this course were the powerpoint presentations... it was really easy
to take notes on the chapters and she backed up her slides with other info instead of just reading
exactly what was on the screen |
| Everything i have learned in this class is knowledge that i will be able to apply to lifetime decisions. |
| Good Detailed Notes. |
| The reviews that are done after every chapter. It's normally an activity where we follow from food to nutrient to function. That helped a lot. |
| We could easily apply everything that we were learning in class to our lives. |
| I could use the information learned and provided by the instructor to everyday living :) |
| I just really liked the content. The lectures that she presented were very helpful and informative. |
| The textbook. |
| The most valuable part for me was that I've learned to better take care of myself nutrition wise. Until I took this course, I had no understanding of how I should eat, etc. Also, the homework played a big role in helping me understand more about my nutritional state. |
| Everything. I learned a lot about nutrition every lecture! |
| The fact that I can use the knowledge I acquired in this course and apply to my day to day life. I am an athelte so I feel like what I learned in this class is going to help me very much in my normal and athletic life. Also, the studyguides helped me better prepare for the tests. |
| What I found most valuable and helpful in this course was that the instructor made the lesson easy
to understand. |
| I found that these concepts and ideas were present in my everyday life so it was easier to connect them and find the value in learning the material. |
| The information provided will be extremely useful in life. |
| The things I found most valuable in this course was relating the nutrition facts with my own body
and figuring out what was a healthy adequate diet for me. |
| To gain a personal understanding of my particular nutritional situation and make modifications in my own diet in order to improve my health and inspire the health and food choices of my family. |
| Test materials were very relevant to powerpoints. |
| I enjoyed the section and lecture on pregnancy and infant nutrition based on personal interest. I like Dr. Stewart's positive attitude, anecdotes and friendly open office hours. |
| The powerpoint slides corresponded perfectly with the book so it was very easy to understand. The
class was very organized in the way it was taught and this made it very easy to learn ultimately
making the class interesting. |
| I learned things that I could apply to my daily life: eating healthier, exercising right, and recognizing unhealthy habits and manners. |
| I found out about what is good for my body and what isn't. |
| I found the most valuable and helpful part about this course was attending
class for the lecture. The lecture helped summarize main points and topics
that we needed to know for the exams. After attending lecture I was able to
read over the text and get further information on those main points, so it
was beneficial. Not to mention, there were several extra credit
opportunities by attending class. |
| powerpoint presentations |
| There was a lot of important and useful information I can apply to my everyday life, especially with application to my health. |
| I found the information valuable. How foods could improve and damage a person's life depending
on how it is consumed. |
| the assignments and the powerpoint |
| I found all the review lectures to be very helpful during this course. It helped me personally to prepare for all the exams and gave me a better understanding to what I was learning. |
| This course deals with information that is vital to everyday life. With that said, I learned a lot in
how to maintain my health and I hope to use these ideas forever. |
| Everything. I was able to incorporate this course into having a healthier lifestyle. |
| Figuring out that there was nothing wrong with my eating habits from the health survey. |
| The videos. |
| The fact that Professor Stewart was great at explaining concepts in a way that was easy for everyone to understand, as well as her accessibility when I needed extra help rescheduling a test. |
| The information learned. |
| She provided helpful exam questions before we were given the exam. |
| the teaching was very clear. study groups were formed for tests and I overall learned a lot from this course. |
| The way that she demonstrated how practical the information was and what little changes in our diet we can do to improve or prevent health problems. |
| It will help me in my future job, but is also helpful for general knowledge in life. |
| Learning about practical aspects of Nutrition, which helps me in my diet especially being an athlete. Its great information for everyone. |
| The way the material was presented and how she could explain everything in detail in an understanding way. |
| Having an instructor who enjoyed the topics that she talked about was great since it made it easy for her to teach us. A lot of the times she had regular lectures but she would always throw in activities which for me, helped a lot when i came to understanding the information we were learning. The prof. was well preparred for the class and is extremely helpful when it comes to question asked after or outside of class. |
| Everything in class was very practical and useful for everyday life. |
| The teacher really made the class fun and made me want to learn more. |
| The thing that I found most valuable from this course was just a better understanding of what I am
actually doing to my body. All the things that it needs to perform properly and all the many other
things that can harm my body. I thought what Dr. Stewart had to teach us was very useful to my life
and helped me make better choices in my lifestyle and I was also able to impact the diet choices of
others because she sparked such an interest in things that I never bothered with before. |
| she had alot of cinnections with all of us. such as the fact that were college students, she knows what we all tend to do such as not eating enough so she inforces us to eat well etc. |
| the lectures were concise and interesting. the tests directly reflected what
was covered in the lectures. |
| This course was very interesting and always exciting. I was able to assess my lifestyle and even change a few things, diet and exercise wise, with just the basic knowledge i received from this class. |
| Her lectures, although were powerpoint slides, seemed very interactive. She bonded with the class
and was able to teach us effectively. |
| I thought that what we learned in the course was very useful and practical in everyday life. |
| That the teacher also worked with a presentation all day. |
| The information was interesting to me and something that can be applied to real life so I liked
learning about it. |
| learning about nutrition and how much what you eat could effect you eg with deficiencies and
toxicities |
| she had an answer to every question. |
| what foods and essentials are good and healthy for you |
| multiple class sections in case i couldn't make it to one |
| Nutritional lessons that can be applied in my life, such as diet choices and nutritional needs. |
| I loved learning about my nutrition and learning about the things that would cause food bourne
illness. Some of the things mentioned were things that my family has done so I was able to tell
my family to stop. |
| The aspects of my own nutrition. Learning what is known about food and our health thus far. |
| Attending lecture was helpful. |
| The four assignments helped to apply what we learned in class to real life. |
| applies all lesons back to our own lives |
| its real life applications. |
| The powerpoints and lectures were very helpful and were easy to understand. |
| The benefits for later on in life. I can use the material to keep myself healthly and know the differences between healthy and unhealthy foods. |
| i use the knowledge i learned in this class everyday |
| I think I learned a lot of things about nutrition that I didn't know before and I would've never known if I didn't take this class |
| Learning about how to be a healthier person. |
| Her organization. She always came prepared with powerpoint presentations that we were able to understand and engage ourselves with. Topics that I found difficult, she made simple and clear. |
| It really helped me to re-evaluate my eating habits |
| the way she presented the material with power points |
| The lectures |
| The information learned in this course is useful in everyday life. |
| teacher was the best. so smart and funny. |
| The study guides for the exams were very helpful. It was the perfect giudeline on what we should know to study for the exam. |
| Whats most valuable is that the things could be applied to our lives immediately. |
|
|
12. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the course?
|
| I wish that the professor might have uploaded more resources in Laulima pertaining to the class lectures. The only way that I can keep up in class is if I bring my laptop because I type faster than I write. In the beginning of the year, I missed a lot of information because the presentations went too quickly for me to get a lot of the information. |
| None. |
| Nothing |
| i didnt really think anything was not helpful about the course... everything was so interesting to me |
| Amount of information in a short period of time. |
| The videos. They were too small and with the construction, I couldn't hear them very well. |
| Memorizing what foods provide which vitamins and minerals. |
| Since I'll be transferring and not pursing a career in Kinesiology food science can't be transferred
or used as a credit to my new desire of study |
| I wish that the power points were posted online. I understand that this deters students from coming to class, but it really is helpful for those students who would like to go over some of the material they may have missed in class, especially since she went through some of the slides quickly. |
| If the slides were available online it would be much more useful and efficient come test time. |
| N/A |
| Because there was so much to learn about the vitamin and mineral absorption and where they are absorbed, etc. i feel like this was the weekest part of the course for me. |
| I disliked how the instructor wasn't able to put up the powerpoint lessons online. |
| Often the tests and review was overwhelming. I would have preferred a test par every chapter or so instead of requiring many concepts in one test. |
| The location of the classroom. |
| What I found least valuable about the course was the in-depth informations about minerals and
vitamins. I had the most trouble on this test and found it was a lot of information for one exam. |
| I cannot think of any subject covered throughout this course that was not beneficial |
| It seems like some kind of psychological torture to be expected to listen, learn and concentrate when there is constant pounding and construction going on right outside. The room also is a narrow, long lecture hall with too many seats for the number of students and fluorescent lighting, all of this combines to make a very bad learning environment and I think some serious adjustments need to made with respect to this universities ability and course planning policies. Another extremely unnerving fact that was presented to us in the first week of class rather than in the course description was the fact that the the information being conveyed in FSHN 185 is five years old, standard USDA information as regards to nutrition. Most relatively well informed people could tell you that the majority of that information is not only outdated but it is false. There are reasons why this country struggles with obesity, cancer and many other terminal diseases and none were covered or thought about in the planning of this course. Alternative health and medicine should be taught in nutrition, and old information cannot be relied upon especially when it comes from a financially influenced corporation and not from individuals with respect for human health that proceeds monetary gain. This University should be ashamed to offer credit for this course, and should offer an alternative that is soundly based in up to date nutrition and not propaganda. Ex. The research on the negative health effects of corn syrup is conclusive, not arguable. There is formaldehyde among other disgusting substances in it and it is not fit for human consumption. It consists of empty calories and should not be labeled as a food product, let alone sold to us by our instructors in a college level course. We are supposed to be receiving higher education not clandestine indoctrination into chemical corporation worship. |
| There wasn't much. Maybe the assignments weren't so necessary sine I didn't feel like I learned
much from them. |
| The long walk to class. I have enough exercise. |
| Nothing, I enjoyed everything! |
| If I had to choose one aspect, the least valuable part of the course would be
the assignments. As much of a part of the grade the assignments were, I did
not necessarily learn as much from that as I did from attending lecture or
reading the text, it was more of just applying some of that knowledge. |
| textbook |
| The times for help were a bit complicated. |
| Nothing. |
| There really wasn't anything that I didn't find helpful in the course. |
| N/A |
| Nothing. Everything was so helpful. |
| That the course makes you extremely health conscious to the point where I was worried that I didn't have proper nutrition. |
| supplemetary packet. |
| The only discouraging thing about the course was all the construction going on outside, which made the lectures hard to hear sometimes. This, of course, was out of the professor's control, though. |
| The class itself. Not the material learned, but just the obligation of going to class. I disliked going
because it was in BioMD and it's about a 30 minute walk for me, and I just felt it wasn't worth it --
even with the seldom extra credit opportunities. |
| the teacher giving good informeation clearly and effectivly. |
| none. |
| I did not like that the powerpoints and lectures were not put on laulima. |
| some of the review sesions offered weren't so helpful since a prof. who seemed to have just started out was teaching it (atleast the time that I went) and he didn't know if it would be on the test or how to explain it to us. |
| Coming to class just to write notes.... |
| Some of the assignments were tough but that's just part of the class and learning. |
| I can't say that I found anything least valuable to me in this course. |
| i think this class was great and i understood her really well |
| none. |
| n/a |
| The guest speaker. I thought she would have been more help rather than have the guest speaker
talk to us. Although the speaker was an expert, I felt Maria knows our speed and won't give us all
the details that weren't essential for the class. |
| Everything was pretty valuable seeing as i'm majoring in FSHN and want to become a dietitian. |
| i dont know |
| Some of the information presented to us seemed like common sense - it just added to my notes
and made for unneeded studying |
| nothing |
| VERY VERY hard test. More than one answer per question on tests. didn't like that at all and that
effected my grade A LOT. |
| the part about starvation and the different testes |
| n/a |
| Everything about this course was helpful |
| i cant think of any. |
| Nothing really, all the information was helpful and awesomely fulfilling. I learned alot from EVERY unit. |
| The reading was pretty intense and a majority of it wasn't included on exams. |
| Readings in the supplemental packed. |
| nothing. |
| I thought it was all very valuable. |
| The book. |
| no suggestions |
| lecture slides were not online |
| Whats least valuable was the guest speaker. She was horrible. She went too fast and she didn't really go too thoroughly into the topics on Pregnancy. |

24. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
|
| One thing that I would suggest is posting more information on Laulima about class lectures. In the beginning of the year, I feel as if I missed a lot of information because I was trying to listen to the presentation as well as write down what was on the powerpoint. If I knew that I could access the powerpoints or something similar to that AFTER the class, then I think I would have been able to listen to the lecture better. Either that, or maybe slow down a bit so those without laptops can get all of the important stuff down. |
| Less frequent tests and assignments due every other week. |
| Course/teacher is great. |
| don't change anything!! this was my favorite class this semester and i learned a lot!! |
| great course =] |
| It's a lot of complex information in a short period of time, with 5 other classes it was tough to keep up. |
| Fullscreen the in-class videos. |
| Maybe go over chapter 3 a little more thouroughly. Some of the concepts are hard to grasp. |
| I really enjoyed the assignments given because I gained a better understanding of what was being
taught so I think if more assignments are given people will gain more of an understanding and do
more better on the tests. |
| Good job, overall. |
| The videos were not very efficient. |
| One thing that might help is to teach the materials in order. Some time, in one chapter, the material jumped around the chapter instead of being in order. At times, that process confused me a little bit when I was trying to read up during my study time. |
| nothing, It was great. |
| It would be better if the instructor posted her powerpoint presentations online after the lesson has
been taught. That way the students are able to print it out and study it or if she can post it up
before the exams. |
| I believe Dr. Stewart did a great job in her teaching methods. I had no problems regarding her performance |
| I do not think there is much that needs to be changed, but I would have made vitamins and minerals
a test on its own not with other material because the information was difficult to study and process. |
| I have no suggestions more than what this instructor provided |
| None. Very organized and understanding |
| Find a better environment with which to hold the class, research modern food concerns such as the negative effects of GMO, Soy, Cornsyrup...etc. |
| Nothing. |
| She should be more lenient when it comes to turning in late homework. Some students might have legitimate reasons for not attending class that a doctor's note cannot cover. |
| I found this course very interesting and insightful, thanks to the great
teaching style and methods of the instructor. As a freshmen, I do not have
much knowledge about classes in general; so far, this has been my favorite
class and I see no changes being needed for an introductory class like this. |
| none |
| I really liked watching those videos on youtube, they were fun and informative. |
| Nothing, seriously. This is a great class. |
| There is a LOT of material as anyone who has taken the course may know. Perhaps the last section
that we learn can be collaborated with Exam 4 so the last few weeks can be used as review for the
accumulative final. |
| There is no improvements needed. Great structure, teaching style was great. |
| Don't change a thing! The class was perfect! |
| Maybe a demonstration. |
| All in all, I have very few complaints about this class. If you follow the syllabus and come to the lectures, it's an easy A that teaches you some rather interesting things. One minor drawback for me was that so much material was online; I have a tendency to not take online resources seriously and assume that the in-class material is the only important part of the course. That's a personal preference, however. |
| Move the class to somewhere closer. BIOMD is just toooooo far. |
| -provide the lecture powerpoints online on Laulima |
| Be more confident in presenting materials. Seems nervous to teach material at times. |
| please put powerpoints on laulima! And don't have so many exams. |
| I had some trouble with the layout of the tests. I feel like I studied well for each test but the wording of the questions were difficult to understand for me. |
| I think the course would be better if a prof that actually knew what the students needed to know for tests lead the review session. |
| Post online power points presented in class and instead have in class practical ways of understanding topics. More relatable things. |
| No suggestions for improvement. This was a very good class. |
| Nothing needs to be changed. Dr. Stewart's way of teaching is perfect and she well informs students
the expectations of the class and she also provides the students with ways to succeed in her class. |
| It was the best and i like how she related to us. |
| none. |
| Provide more time for review in class. |
| More videos--the one's we watched were helpful. |
| no ideas |
| none |
| Not giving more then ONE correct answer for each question on quiz. |
| n/a |
| n/a |
| Study guides for exams were a little ambiguous and not very helpful as to what material is going to be on the exam. |
| Sometimes it seemed like all the information was overwhelming. On big chapters, a little more
time and explaining would be nice. |
| None, maybe phrase test questions differently, there was some confusion there. |
| The slides should be available online. |
| either be more specific during lectures or make tests less specific and more general. |
| The tests are a little different than the study guides |

26. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
|
| I wish that I can take more of my classes with this professor because I feel that she's very helpful, informative, enthusiastic about her specialization, and interested in sharing her excitement. I really don't mind waking up on a Monday morning to go to her class. She's not too difficult, but she does make you think about the material and encourages your understanding. I feel like so far this semester, I've learned the most from her. Definitely a keeper!! |
| She is very helpful and knowledgable in the subject. She knows what she is talking about and is willing to help. The teacher is very approachable and fair in her grading and tests. |
| 10 on a scale of 1-10 |
| she was great!! FSHN was the one class i looked forward to coming to |
| Great teacher and great class, highly recommend |
| She knows what she's doing, and gives the information well. |
| Great methods, learned a bunch |
| She was always well prepared and knew her subject material. |
| TAKE HER CLASS :) |
| I really enjoyed this class and with this instructor teaching it. I would definitely take another class from her in the future. |
| great teacher |
| I would give her 10 out of 10. |
| A+, she is a great professor. |
| I think that she is very good and am glad that I had her for the class. |
| She's prepared to teach her students and makes sure we understand the concept. |
| Excellent! I understand that the concepts are overwhelming to teach but the Professor demonstrated teaching styles for a variety of students as well as provided suggestions to aid us in succeeding in the course. Her lectures were very often engaging and interesting. |
| Job well done. |
| Very good! Favorite instructor so far at Hawaii. |
| very professional |
| Excellent |
| She seems like a very nice person, but I think she should broaden her perspectives as to independent nutrition and health information and remember that the US prime objective is money not well being. National hapiness in the US has been on the steady decline since the 1950's therefore all policies, information and positions of the US as regard to the well being of it's 'population' should be questioned, thoroughly researched and perhaps all students should be given multiple sides of arguments to make up there own minds and not just the 'official' version... that is, only if this University is interested in raising the awareness, quality of life and understanding of it's student 'body.' |
| Amazing. She has much enthusiasm and even though my class is quite early I didn't mind since she
made it so interesting. |
| She is a great instructor, but not a very understanding person I'm afraid. |
| good! |
| she did a very good job instructing this class. I did not know what to
expect from this class at first because I registered for it solely to fit my
schedule and get me enough credits for the semester, although, throughout the
course I gained a lot of interest and insight on the topic and I am now
thinking about majoring in a nutrition related major because of this course. |
| great |
| 5 out of 5! |
| Proffesor Stewart had very instresting lectures that involved both the students and her thoughts on life and how this course applies to our lives. That is the most importatant lesson in this class, was that we could apply and become more aware of the health issues tbhat surround us day to day. I know that I have made healthy changes to my life that have greatly improved my mental and physical well being. |
| Great! Lectures were clear, examples used were useful and interesting, entertaining, and useful.
She's very helpful and has time for her students. |
| that I feel that she is a very good professor. Dr. Stewart has really stressed the importance of nutrition to our class and has made me personally realize how important it is in the world today. By teaching this class very well and making it interesting, she has made me realize that this is what I might want to do as a future career. |
| Prof. Stewart is an amazing instructor who is very clear with her points. She shapes the information
in a way that everyone can understand. I am really glad I chose to enroll in her class. |
| Very helpful, understanding, and enjoys when people ask questions. |
| I couldn't have picked anyone better to teach this course so excellent! If I had to grade her, she'd get an A+ from me! |
| AWESOME. |
| A+. I'm very pleased with Professor Stewart. She was always in a cheerful mood and sometimes had some interesting anecdotes relating to the material of that day's lecture. |
| Good. |
| Prof Stewart was an overall good instructor. I would recommend her to anyone who is planning to take FSHN 185. She tries to help her students in anyway that she can. |
| Very good teacher! |
| Wonderful teacher, would take future classes that she taught |
| good instructor, that tries to make sure you get the information presented. Keeps the class interesting, with jokes here and there. |
| I really liked the teaching style and how she promoted nutrition not as a class but outside the classroom. |
| i give her two thumbs up since she just seems to be a really great prof. |
| Good but science isn't my cup of tea. |
| Good. She is a very good instructor and I hope to take more of her classes. |
| That Dr. Stewart is an awesome instructor and always woke the class up and brought such spunk to
her teachings that there was never a dull moment in class. There was always a lot to cover in class
but she knew what pace to keep and she always kept the students in mind. Dr. Stewart made this
course fun and that helped me to better understand the material. |
| she's awesome |
| the instructor is knowledgeable on the content and presents the material
clearly. the material is interesting and easy to understand due to the
presentation. |
| The instructor did a great job in stimulating my interest throughout the semester. I enjoyed the class and I'm going to recommend it to all of my friends. |
| Great. She was a good teacher. She kept the materials to be interesting, even if they weren't the
most interesting topics. She is prompt and is always available to help. |
| I really liked her and it was easy to get out of bed to go to the class. |
| She is a friendly person who you can talk to all the time. She sends you notes if you missed a lesson and she teaches in a very understandable way. It seems that she really wants all students to understand the topics. |
| She was interesting to listen to, made funny comments to keep our attention and also very
knowledgeable about the subjects we were taught. |
| I learned alot thru her and would take another one of her classes |
| She expects a lot out of the students but is a smart teacher. |
| is very good, made the course fun and about to understand clearly |
| Favorite teacher this semester. |
| Professor Stewart made each class fun and interesting. She came to class with a big smile and put
on a short clip that put us in a good mood to start our lecture. She was very helpful and answered
each question in class. She was very down to earth and that is what I really liked about her. |
| Wonderful, Maria was a breath of fresh air out of my professors this semester. I looked forward to hearing her voice and fountain of knowledge each and every class. |
| very good! |
| she did good. |
| I really enjoyed this course |
| She did a good job teaching a large and diverse class about Food science and human nutrition. She was able to communicate her ideas clearly and was able to make it interesting. |
| She was a great teacher and I learned a lot. |
| Perfect! I am horrible with anything science related and she actually made me love nutrition. I started thinking about my nutrition and my families outside of class, just for the heck of it. |
| The instructor was great and on top of her A game. Very knowledgeable about the material. |
| a great teacher! Other people in different nutrition classes stressed how boring their teachers were
and I did not feel the same about Professor Stewart |
| Very good. She taught me what i needed to know. |
| Dr. Stewart is great! She made this class fun and easy to understand. She is always well prepared with lecture material and knows how to keep the students engaged in her lectures. She is not only knowledgeable about the subject but had a way of making our classroom a fun learning environment for everyone. She always made it clear that she was available to every student outside of class if they needed extra help which is important. During my meetings with her outside of class she was also very helpful and always made SURE that I understood what she was talking about. She also was very clear about how to study for exams which proved to be really helpful. A++++ for Dr. Stewart!! |
| I was very happy with this course. It was not the most interesting topic for me but the Professor presented the material in a way that I could understand and therefore pass the exams. |
| great |
| good. She is knowledgable, and answers my questions well. |
| One of the best instructors at UH right now. I've heard that this course was supposed to boring and difficult. With her teaching style, i soaked up the material while keeping and an honest interest with the topic. It's rare to find a professor who finds the perfect pace and finds relevance of the course topics for the students. This was supposed to be a hard class for me, but the professor made it the one class i enjoyed the most this year. |

44. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
|
| I liked that I am walking away from a class and I feel like I have gained knowledge on the matter. I liked how easy it was to read the powerpoint presentation, and I liked the way that the professor presented the material. It was logical and concise. It made it easier to follow up on her presentations too, because she put in some reference pages in the book so that we may be able to go back |
| The subject of the assignments and how it could be tied into a specific chapter in the book |
| All of the subjects presented were interesting and helpful to my life. |
| i liked the movies that we got to watch because they were really helpful and tied into what we were
learning really well |
| everything learned can be applied to real life situations making material interesting to learn |
| The more basic information that is easy to remember that I will use my entire life. |
| I liked the assignments. They weren't extremely hard, but I got alot out of them. |
| The assignments :) |
| I just enjoyed the course in general. I liked that there were multiple exams because that forces you to keep up with the readings and assignments as the semester goes along. |
| Assignments |
| I liked every part of this course. |
| The food safety and borne illnesses, eating disorders, and pregnancy and breastfeeding. Most
interesting. |
| When we learned about sports nutrition was my favorite part of the course because I am an athlete at the school and feel like I learned alot. |
| When the instructor makes the lessons interesting to learn was what I liked the best. |
| The lectures and the fact the information could be applied daily. |
| Homework assignments. They involved a lot of interaction with real world situations. |
| Finding a nutritional diet that worked best for me! |
| knowledge attained to use in personal dietary habits |
| I like the homework assignments. It was a big help of understanding chapters |
| The instructor. |
| I liked just being in the class and learning. |
| The things taught. I never knew most of the stuff. |
| Learning about what foods to eat etc. |
| I liked the fact that the assignments tested your knowledge on the topic
without being too difficult. No single assignment was "hard," rather just
time consuming, if that, and each was graded very leniently. |
| none |
| I liked watching the videos and recieving incentive points for attending class, because I feel the instructor related with the students on attendance. It was only fair that the students who attended her class recieved some sort of acknowledgment and appreciation for the effort put in to showing up. I also liked how the slides gave us a hint of what we needed to know the exam without giving us the answer, because it made me want to do more research in the book to catch up. |
| I enjoyed learning about Nutrition. |
| I just enjoyed everything about this class. |
| I like the material that we learned period. However, my favorite aspects were the assignments.
Those helped to make the information we learned pertain to our own lifestyles. |
| I liked the vitamin section the most. |
| The instructor and all of the material! |
| lecture. |
| The variety of materials covered captured my interest. I've regained my affinity for the sciences this semester. |
| The grading curve. |
| -videoclips |
| the way it was so relevent to everyday health and life. |
| The assignments because it helped us to actively learn the concepts for improving our lifestyle such as being able to read the Food label or understand what food claims really mean. |
| The supplemental material, the videos presented and the assignments about
"assessing your diet, etc" |
| Understanding how the things we eat make up the numbers we see on a package, and how we can tell what and how the food is being applied to the body. |
| I thought the videos that were the most helpful |
| I liked everything about the course. I probably like the instructor and material the best. |
| I loved how the environment was always friendly and there was never a dull moment in class. Dr.
Stewart is such an enthusiastic educator that it rubbed off on her students. |
| everything because i got to learn more about being healthy to risk future health problem |
| the material covered was interesting and easy to understand. |
| I liked learning about diet and assessing energy needs and my actual intake. |
| I liked the practical application sections such as BMIs and other things that i could use in my life. |
| That the teacher uses presentations all the time you can follow. |
| I liked learning about the functions of the different nutrients and why they were important in the
diet. |
| where we got to figure out how many calories we could consume a day in assignment 3 |
| Learned a lot that i can apply to my everyday life. |
| learning how to eat healthy |
| Fun and enthusiastic teacher |
| I loved learning about all the topics because everyone related to them. I now have a much greater
knowledge of being healthy. |
| The professor, Maria Stewart is a truly wonderful teacher, and from speaking outside with her the times I have she seems to be a very nice, respectable person. I also enjoyed the homework assignments. |
| The four assignments. |
| she was energetic & kept the class "alive". she explained things in detail, not just reading off the powerpoints. |
| real life applications. |
| Learning about food and different foods that our body needs and doesn't need. |
| weight gaing |

| It is an interesting class. I liked every aspect of it. |
| Everything. From the topics themselves to the videos. |
|
|
45. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
|
| There wasn't a lot about the course that I found super difficult. I thought that sometimes it went a little fast but now that I'm using my laptop It's at a perfect speed for me. Deadlines in the course were fair and always timely. |
| The frequency of tests and assignments due every other week. |
| None |
| i would have liked some mini quizzes, just to make sure we're where we should be in terms of being
prepared for the exam and also as a chance to boost our grade.. or lower it |
| The more complex information that will help bio majors, that I have already forgotte and will have to review for the final. |
| The exams weren't always straightforward. Some of the questions didn't even seem relevant to the course material. |
| Having to do extra readings but I liked reading those instead of the text book |
| I didn't really care for the fact that the final exam is cumulative. |
| How many exams there were. |
| N/A |
| the science related ones, like the carbs, minerals, etc.. |
| In the course, I least liked least all the notes. |
| Walking far to the biomed building. |
| The tests were very cut and dry and often times difficult to understand due to their machine like construction. I would have preferred a test created by the Professor. |
| Exams. |
| Minerals and vitamins |
| reading assignments |
| The room and the outdated information, there should be an exam to allow students to pass the requirement and take upper level courses. |
| There wasn't much I didn't like. The assignments were hard at times but I always did well on them
so there wasn't much to dislike. |
| Where it is physically situated. |
| Vitamins & minerals were hard! |
| In all honesty, there wasn't a part of this course that I did not like, of
course with exams being an exception. I say this because I found the course
very interesting and I enjoyed attending class, believe it or not. |
| tests |
| I least like the exams. |
| The amount of information you must learn is a little much, so you have to really put in the time and
effort to get a good grade. |
| Nothing. I enjoyed it all. |
| Being hungry after every class, I guess. |
| reading the textbook. |
| The location was rather distant from all my other classes, which made it difficult to making it to my next class on time...so I confess that I skipped this lecture when I had a test in my next class. |
| The location. |
| -Having to rush and copy what is on the powerpoint lecture |
| the topics were sometimes unlcear and could have stressed important test subjects more effectivly. |
| some times the lectures who boring but only when we were just learning about things that were kind of repetative, like vitamins. |
| Exams because some were just too scientifically and what we learned in class was not that... |
| The assignments |

| Reading the supplementary packet pages |
| having to read a lot. |
| The Building and the noise during class from the construction. |
| minerals/vitamins |
| quizes |
| Class was too short :( |
|
|
46. My overall evaluation of this course is...
|
| I really enjoyed this course. I hope that I can take another course with this professor again in the future. It's something really, when you don't mind going to class because the professor makes it interesting. I liked how I could apply it to my real life experiences every single day, and so I could see how the material I was learning was important. |
| Very informative course covering the basics of nutrition. |
| A+ |
| this was definitely a unique experience for me... i hope that i have more classes that are this
good.... this course helped made me see all the concepts were learned in everyday life.. i always
couldnt wait to tell my friends and family what i learned about food.. i really had a fun time in this
class |
| LOVE it |
| It's a good course but there is some information that is difficult to catch on and understand, especially for someone like me taking it as a business major elective. |

| Great course! |
| That this course is such an eye opener to our daily lives. We need food to survive, but we never
really think about what that food is actually doing for our bodies. You need a certain amount of
something and if you don't meet that requirement then something can go wrong in our body, but if
you exceed the requirement something totally different can happen to our bodies. We never take
the time out to educate ourselves with simple things like what vitamins a certain food provides, or
how much is too much or too little, and what our body actually calls for to function correctly. This
course opened up many things for me and Dr. Stewart allowed me to enjoy her class and the
information that she had to share with me. |
