I enjoyed working in the greenhouse identifying problems and developing solutions. I am much more likely now than before to consider Nursery Manager or Nursery Owner as my next profession.

The plant growing! And the snacks, of course.

Hands on experience.

26. Which aspects of the course did you like least?

Marathon lecture. We spent upwards of 3 hours at a time in lecture. I wanted more hands on more problem solving like you might have in the real world as a Nursery Manager. Our lab time was often a continuation of the lecture with few opportunities to put the information to practical use.

Neutral comments mean the question was not applicable for our class. The scope of this class was not communicated efficiently. The majority of our lab time was lost and we spent much more time then needed being growers and less time as nursery managers. I believe that their needs to be a balance between growing and management.

Thank you for such a great experience! I've really enjoyed the semester.

Her great way of teaching and relating to the students... as well as appealing to their better nature by taking them out for lunch!

Didn't learn that much. Wish there was interaction with real-world businesses/examples, and small exercises on actual business practices, like accounting, finance, and managing employees.

I do not think this course should be a TPSS requirement. I think an option of taking either this class or the accounting focused class should be allowed if it is necessary. I do not really feel like I have any knowledge of how to start a business or run one or have an understanding of real business terminology or processes. It was more of a feel good class that taught me about creativity in mutating possible business ideas and that profit is important. I personally would rather learn about actual profit and managing numbers. It was an easy class though and entertaining.

She is a fantastic professor, I wish all professors would learn from her! I would strongly recommend ANYONE taking her class!! She's the most helpful and easy to talk to professor I've had in the three years I've been at UH. Thank you Dr. Cheah!!!

my suggestions for professor cheah are to allow students more time to work on their projects in class. The story telling, while interesting, gets a little old after a while. I would suggest she tell a relevant story, then allow the students to work on the related activity.

The morphogenetic factors of plants as well as learning to research effectively to manage a business in tissue culture

performing lab works and hands-on was really helpful and made the class more interesting. the powerpoint presentations prepared for class were all really helpful and prepared well.

Very fun course. If I could redo it, I'd choose to propagate ferns or something that grows very quickly.

It seemed as though understanding of what the instructor varied, but those who had er as an instructor did better overall because they knew what she wanted in terms of assignments. Her passion for the topic made it easier to learn from her. Over all a very good course. Everyone should have a basic biology or chemistry class though it would make the class run more smoothly.

The overall scope of the class, which was based on practical and applicable knowledge and not completely on theoretical aspects. It was also adapted to the specific needs and interests of the students.

ORGANIZATION was number one for me! I've found that a lot of the concepts we talked about are all inter-related and comprise a system, and if one component of that system is unbalanced it will throw everything else off balance, as well. Energy management was also a valuable aspect for me, as was the selection of the ideal system of time management.

The sales experience

This was a very good course. Not entirely what I expected going in, but it proved to be valuable. Gave me more of business sense than what a lot of the other TPSS courses have offered in the past--hey, we all have to make some money someday.

I loved the fact that at the end of the semester you were able to make a profit based on how well you researched your product as well as how hard you worked on your project.

I wish the course was a bit longer so you could have more time to prep your finished product. But otherwise I thought it was an insightful learning experience.

The list could really go on forever, the personal knowledge and first hand experience that we are fortunate enough to hear about on a regular basis was key in the learning. Personal experience is something that cannot be taught, having an insider look was great.

ta didnt really do anything with our class, maybe the ta coud meet with the groups on an individual basis to make sure that everyone has their things together and fully understand the jobs that we are assigned.

plan for significant in-class time for the group projects. if the grade for the class is going to be based on one big thing, then that one big thing must have ample time allotted to it during class time. provide time evenly spaced throughout semester for this.

Dr. Cheah was an awesome teacher. she really cares about if the students are learning and understaning the context of the lecture. She really wants us to learn, which is necessary of a teacher

it is extremely difficult to coordinate 4-5 busy students to work on a huge group project outside of class. otherwise, an excellent course with an excellent teacher.

Thank you very much for the time you took to prep and lecture for this class, not to mention the out of class time. The stories are great and I am excited to see the new and innovative ideas to come! Mahalo
