What I like about Dr. Baldwin is her flexibility. She accommodate around my schedule. Dr. Baldwin is very patient with me and allow me to use my critical thinking. Dr. Baldwin is an asset to UH-MC and UH-Manoa.

I really appreciated the ability to do the SOAP notes on my own time. I felt that writing up the SOAP notes, in general, was a very good learning experience. The flexibility to complete these SOAP notes really helped me to learn the material better because I didn't feel as pressured for time.

Celeste Baldwin was the first instructor that I've had who has encouraged me to contact her on a regular basis. She is sometimes difficult to get in touch with, but I normally didn't have too many questions most of the time, so I didn't find it to be too much of a problem. If I couldn't get my questions answered by phone, I could always email her and she would get back to me that way. I do wish I had a little more feedback on the SOAP notes, especially in terms of making them more concise, but I still feel like I learned a lot just from writing them.

I think this professor encourages women to have children to prevent breast cancer but she was insensitive about the fact that this is not an option if women are infertile and unable to conceive. I would just warn her to be a little less enthusiastic about her opinions because not everyone can have children and can nurse even if it is good for preventing breast cancer.

1. Other comments:

Great lecturer... good clinical instructor as well! Would help if she could help students to feel less intimidated during clinical and encourage questions. Sometimes it felt like a test. More organization would be wonderful as well. Not so many last minute changes would really be beneficial in helping students to plan better and become more efficient. But, I feel she does her best to accommodate everyone as well, which is greatly appreciated!!! I also enjoyed her sense of humor, lightening the load. The first year was so serious, so she was a breath of fresh air. Enjoyable class overall.

BEST COURSE YET!!!!! I loved all the infants. Can't wait for Kapiolani.

This semester is not too hard but not too easy. The only thing is there is too much chapters in one exam. It is really hard to read more than 20 chapters for one exam. Instructors are very supportive.

as a student i felt extremely supported by Celeste. She was extremely flexible and understanding about personal situations and was always willing to work with us so that we all succeed.

15. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?

observing NP, MDs during their patient visits, learning their work flow as well as skill set and actually seeing the patients myself and practicing the skills observed, i.e. pap smear, checking for IUD placement, breast exams, thyroid exams, various patient education related to contraceptives, std, preventative well women screenings, etc.

I thought my rotations were wonderful this semester. Celeste was very helpful in filling my days because we had a late start so I had to do a lot of rotations at the end of the semester. I felt working in the hospital was very helpful and I learned a lot of new skills and sharpened my charting.

Celeste is very encouraging and supportive of my learning and family needs.

Always available for feedback. When dealing with a difficult preceptor situation Celeste was available and understanding, did not show concern that I would be unable to fulfill the class requirements- remained supportive.

I felt Celeste was a wonderful preceptor. She was always available for questions and providing help.And very concerned for the student's needs

Celeste made clinicals stress free and reviewed material to make it easy to understand. Also, having real people as patients and a variety of patients made lab challenging and interesting. I think because of this, I had a better experience than others who were not able to complete lab assessments on "real" patients.

Dr. Baldwin is an excellent instructor!

Celeste Baldwin is a valuable asset to the nursing department. Her teaching style is easy to follow, her expectations are reasonable, and she tests on information that was presented in seminar. I had trouble figuring out what material to read to help prep for class since she did not follow the syllabus much. I found her exam and test questions difficult since sometimes she would ask us to compare/contrast items that weren't related. I liked the topics of class discussion and how flexible she was with assignments. She was very approachable and responsive to emails. I really liked the learning format that she provided.

I benefited most from the regular and consistent CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK that Ms. Baldwin provided me with. Ms. Baldwins competent knowledge and skills helped me grow and evolve intellectually and widened by cognitive/thinking skills. Ms. Baldwin is very involved with her students and makes sure we are constantly improving. Learned a lot!! for life and it has been a very gratifying experience that will stay with me and help me both professionally as well as on the personal front. Ms. Baldwin is also very professional and has all qualities that a great educator must possess.

I especially appreciated the SOAP exercises which helped me incorporate a variety of materials learned throughout the program. The exams were a bit too intense and sometimes the questions within each question did not seem to flow together. This course definitely required more time and work than 3 credits worth.

Dr. Baldwin is an excellent instructor with the expertise and motivation to support and educate her students. It was a pleasure to work with her.

The original ppt created by the instructor really enhanced my learning. The instructor was sincere in her desire to facilitate learning and to create a learning environment which free of conflict. Many instructors may say in their opening discussion to their students that they are available to assist their students; however, this instructor was one of only a few instructors that truly backed up this statement by requiring contact with every student, via email or phone calls. The work assignments were focused and relevant to the course material; never were we asked to do "busy work" meaning work that was time consuming yet, little knowledge was gained.

Essay exams are a plus. Much better gauge for assessing understanding. A tougher, but better way to test one's knowledge. I will retain more knowledge because of it. I also appreciated Celeste incorporating the CNS and her role in the "big" picture. Really helped to put things into perspective for me.

I would have appreciated detailed feedback on assignments rather than affirmation that I'm doing well.
