29. How did the instructor show concern for students?
...
He answers all of our questions patiently and uses multiple methods of illustrating a concept until everyone gets it.
He asked if we had any questions.
um.........
30. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Grading system not accurate, it's practically based on "whatever he wants to do"...
I think Brayton a pretty cool guy. eh makes fun of alcoholics and doesn't afraid of anything.
He is a nice guy. He did not teach Chemistry 162 well. He used a different textbook for lectures than that of the required book for the class. He is not able to clearly explain complex ideas (maybe due to time restrictions).
31. Other comments:
I felt as if this teacher was very unengaged and unhelpful.
He should not read slideshow slides taken from a textbook out loud following with a laser pointer. He should not face his back to the class. He should focus on preparing students for the final exam.

16. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
he knows his subject well
His major strentghs were he was very knowledgable about chemistry. He answered back promptly to emails. He graded exams fast so you got your grades back fast.
He is very free and individualizes each students own learning into a self-reliant status and still offers assistance to them when needed.
I think he relates to the students well. He has an easy going personality and that makes him much more approachable for a student.
Mr.Brayton is a friendly and funny guy.
He knows a lot about chemistry. But too much sometimes and it made it more confusing than it needed to be.
he's knowledgable in the subject he's teaching.

18. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
n/a
Classes were very boring because he just read off of the power points every class. Even the way he spoke was very monotone and made the class even more boring. I would have to say think of another way to get your students attention more and make learning a little more interesting. I didn't learn anything in that class.
to interact with the class more. be more hands on with the material that he's teaching. i felt like i had to teach myself the whole semester!!!!
N/A
More hands on learning.
No changes, awesome class.
Speak up, Read the powerpoints before class instead of looking at them for the first time WHILE teaching the class. Don't make everything so complicated and don't assume the students "already know" what you're talking about. Also, there was a statement made at the beginning of class that the conversion factors would Maybe allowing a 3x5 card or having a Jeopardy style review would help students to memorize the formulas better. Also, there are no opportunities for extra credit, as well as no homework. Our grade was only based on tests. Some students are bad test takers and it creates more anxiety when your grade is based on only 4 tests.
encourage more class participation.
19. How did the instructor show concern for students?
always informed us about the grades, prints out practice exams for us to study, responds to emails quickly
His communication via email was very good but in class it seemed like he was just going through the lesson and not really paying attention to how the class was reacting to his lectures.
i didn't see him show any concern!!!
Emails students promptly upon missing exams and offers retakes almost immediately.
Mr. Brayton recommended tutors that were available in KCC if we were to need additional help.
He answered questions when asked.
20. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
yes, because he makes everything straight forward so its easier to understand
I would not recommend this instructor because chemistry is a tough subject for me and this instructor showed no real interest in making classes more interesting for his students. I had a hard time learning from him because he spoke softly during class and I couldn't really understand anything he was teaching me. I ended up trying to teach myself by reading the book which was why I ended up doing bad in this class.
NO sorry i wouldn't!!!
If you're the type of student who would rather study at home then I would recommend him. The class is mostly based upon lecture which is taken from Laulima. In that case, you don't necessarily have to attend class. It is without consequence if you feel that you can study on your own.
Yes, I'd recommend this instructor to students. Theres a great atmosphere here.
No, I felt like he was too in depth. This is a basic chemistry class and most are taking it just to satisfy a requirement. I felt like things weren't explained very well.
21. The instructor actively listened to students.
Mean N-Size Std Dev   Strongly Disagree   Disagree   Neutral   Agree   Strongly Agree
3.92 12 1.0 Freq(%) 0 (0%) 0 (0%) 6 (50%) 1 (8%) 5 (42%)
22. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
very good professor.
I think he just needs to have a better approach at teaching his students. Many of his students ended up not attending his classes or dropping out of it because he was not a good teacher.
i hope you improve next semester!!!!
N/A
He doesn't like peanut butter sandwiches.
I think as he gains more experience and gets a little more used to teaching he will be good. It seemed to me like maybe he was recently out of school and hadn't quite gotten into the groove that many of my other professors do.
