13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
|
| Instructor is able to give clear instructions and goes above and beyond expections providing students with notes on the power points. |
| I enjoyed the stories Pat told r/t different diseases. It helped me remember it for the exams. |
| Very knowledgeable and experienced. |
| She knows the subject and material fairly well. |
| She knows her stuff. |
|
|
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
|
| None |
| Ms. Pat Taylor should be more consistent with how she makes exceptions. The syllabus and her practices are not the same. Favoritism should not be a trait of an instructor. For example, if you give a student an extended time to take an exam everyone should have the same opportunity no matter the circumstance. Especially if the nursing faculty preaches nursing school as NOT the time to be working, getting pregnant, or getting married. Ms. Pat Taylor should stay parallel to teaching and the positive impact she should/could be making on students, instead of getting stuck with the "politics" with Ms. Maykealoha. She also should make herself more available to her students, for example, leaving a contact number just in case we have emergencies. |
| I think she could format her study guides better & lecture on things she is going to test us on. |
|
|
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| Pat provided students with counceling if students were not doing well on quizes |
| Pat would come out into the hall and talk story with us. It showed that she cared out side of class. |
| Encouraged group activities. |
| Ms. Pat Taylor showed concern only for those who I felt she wanted to. Other than that she really didn't. She allowed two people slide with taking the ATIs at an extended time, one person gets to take it in September. No matter the situation she should stay consistent to the syllabus or make it equal for everyone to give them the same opportunity. Not everyone will say they have a situation and need that extra time because the nursing faculty has stressed that nursing school is not time for outside stress, distraction, or extra curricular activities. On the other side of helping 2 student with an extension, she got upset when a student asked for her help to calculate their grade. |
| She was very thorough and efficient. |
|
|
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
|
| yes, she is a difficult instructor but fair in all ways. |
| yes! |
| Yes |
| No although she knows the material she isn't a great instructor. She is not someone who I feel will help to better my experience so that I can become a good nurse. I would rather have an instructor who is more like Ms. Nanette Dorr. She is what all teachers nursing or not should be. She is VERY encouraging, knowledgeable, consistent and fair. |
| Yes she is very knowledgeable. |
|
|
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
|
| her exam was hard, but she is a good teacher. |
| Thank you for your time and patient with us. you are greatly appreciated.
:) |
| Excellent instructor |
| Nothing else positive. |
| She is a very strong person. |

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
|
| she had big expectations for her students to do very well in class. |
| As a nurse instructor, she knows the subject and can teach it. |
| She keeping our class foucus. |
| Knew the subject but did not know how to explain it in a way for others to understand. |
| None |
| None. She has no major strengths as a teacher other than giving students a
hard time & bad attitude. |
| Can be funny |
| She doesn't take any crap. Good for her. |
| She wants us to be prepared and ready when we go out there in the field. She showed concern when we don't understand some things. |
| She knows the subject well. |
| None |
| Patricia seems to be very knowledgeable and understanding at times. |
| Miss Pat's major strengths as a teacher is her being a nurse in real life. She has a lot of expreriences and knowledge to pass on to her students. |
|
|
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
|
| She should have more patience with her students. Especially, when her students are just learning and have no complete knowledge of the subject. Reading the material does not always have all the answers. When we have a In hands on experience labs, she should teach us the proper technique which the book does not explain. She should always there to be guide us. |
| Be a little more congenial to the students. Try not to belittle them and make them cry, they are just
students learning the information. Telling the students that they should quit the program because
they don't understand something or made an error is not encouraging them to do better, but makes
them terrified to come to class and causes unnecessary anxiety and stress. So, I guess my
suggestion would be to encourage students more so they are not so intimidated and afraid to learn
the subject. |
| I would like to hear more positive encouragement. |
| To go with what is said and agreed upon, did not follow own rules at times. Learn how to explain to
students in a way that they will understand, not everyone thinks the same. |
| Be nicer! Care more about your students. Don't belittle your students. |
| Many. Learn to teach the course better by knowing the subject. Patricia at
times did not know her math. She also did not know how much to draw for a PPD
injection and also instructed a student to give an IM injection at a 45
degree angle when it should have been 90. She then laughs it off by saying
"whoops". She also verbally puts students down. Shows no encouragement
whatsoever. |
| To be more understanding to each individual. not to be so critical. To re-evaluate how she teaches, to be more encouraging and supportive not mean and degrading. |
| None. |
| I felt she could have had a little more patience with her students because we were still in the learning stage. Not put us down as much and treat us rudely. |
| Don't yell at students. |
| Try to be more encouraging to students and to have some patience with those who may not catch
on as quickly. |
| i think she has to be more nicer to her students. The way she talks to them sends them a wrong message about her personality. It portrayed her as a mean person. Also, she needs to help and teach her students more often instead of letting them learn mostly everything on their own. |
| There is no changes that I can suggest. Just keep up her good work. |
|
|
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| She inform when assignments or exams are coming up. |
| no comment |
| Try to help and solve problems. |
| N/A |
| None. |
| No concern for students. All she did was give bad attitude and negative
remarks to those who needed help. |
| ??? good question |
| She made sure that we get it correct and to make sure that mistakes should not be taken granted for. |
| Things were set in stone with her and I guess some of the things she said, we felt discouraged. Even though she was a tough cookie, I learned a lot. |
| She doesn't have any. |
| She would allow us to second chances to improve our grades if we didn't do so well which was really
nice of her. |
| The only way she showed concerns for her students was letting them know that they weren't doing well in class and sending them to a tutor. |
| Mizz Pat showed concern for students by being upfront and straight about her concerns, she will immediately approach a student is there's anything that she needed to clarify or imply. |
|
|
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
|
| No, because she doesn't treat her students fairly. |
| no... The only problem is that she is the only teacher teaching the class. She needs to have more compassion and patience for her students. The students are learning in class and need the knowledge for the skills. We are prepared, give us confidence, and get the knowledge so we are prepared for our internship. |
| I would in one way, and not in another.
I would because she doesn't let the students run all over her from the get-go. She expresses her
demands and expectations so the class will respect her as a teacher.
And I wouldn't because she has a tendency to be intimidating and belittling to the students. |
| No, unless you don't mind having a teacher like her. She knows about the course, just doesn't know
how to be patient enough to explain it in a understandable way. Her grading sometimes is not fair,
and she doesn't TRY to help students with questions and instead tells them to ask a tutor or
someone else. |
| Nope, She was very discouraging for the whole class and wasn't understanding. She didn't want to teach she expected us to know everything on our own. |
| No. I personally would not recommend Patricia to other students. |
| Nope |
| Yes because we need someone to make sure we do things right. |
| No I would never rcommend her. |
| I probably would but i would tell them that she can be very blunt at times. |
| Not really.. this is because she doesn't know how to talk to her students. The way she was talking to us sended a wrong message about her personality. Also, i felt that she wasn't really teaching us all that much. I only remember her teaching us the first two weeks of class. So practicly, i had to teach myself how to do the math problems and understand it. |
| Yes, definitely because she he is well organized and professional in her work. She would not let you get left behind as long as you will follow through. |
|
|
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
|
| She was very discouraging to her students. She didn't encourage her students at all, and was belittling them most of the time. |
| She should not be judging her students without getting to know her students. She could have more patience and understanding for her students. Her students are full-time students, and we have other class as well to concentrate. |
| Thank you for teaching us. |
| N/A |
| She should learn not to belittle her students and encourage more. |
| Nothing positive to say about Patricia. |
| She needs to be more prepared for her lessons and to know her teaching methods of the course, there were a few times where her lessons were contradictory to the book. |
| Although it had been kind of rough, she is still a great instructor. |
| She treats students very disrespectfuly. |
| Nothing. |
| Miss Pat is patient and professional. Her real life experience as a nurse taught me a lot of things. She wasn't ashamed to share her previous mistakes in class for everybody to learn and remember. |
|
|
18. Other comments:
|
| N/A |
| By far the worst teacher I have met. Would like my money back if it were
possible. I did not pay to have a teacher verbally put down me & my fellow
classmates. I do not understand why the medical assisting program would chose
an instructor like Patricia. |
| Not a people person. Very cold and rude. |
| None. |
| Thanks for teaching us this semester. |
| I am glad to be one of her student. Miss Pat is strict but it is a good "strict." akll she wanted is for us to finish the class with applied knowledge necessary for our field of course. |
|
